OlderBrad & Angelina’s $100K Donation
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have donated $100,000 to help build the first modern medical facility in Duk County, Sudan called “The Duk Lost Boys Clinic.”
The donation was mad through their Jolie-Pitt Foundation and will go directly to to Direct Change, a nonprofit that raises financial support for grassroots projects in Africa.
Said John Dau, the Director of Direct Change’s Sudan Project, “Words cannot express my gratitude and gratitude of the people of Duk County Sudan. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt demonstrate the American spirit of generosity. Hopefully, their donation will inspire others to join with us to rebuild southern Sudan.”
Dau’s story was featured in the documentary God Grew Tired of Us, which Brad executive produced. The facility is scheduled to open later this spring and serve upwards of 150,000 people.
In adoptions news… Brad and Angelina will reportedly earn $2.3 million for photographs of their newly adopted son, Pax. The couple earned a reported $4.7 million for photographs of of daughter Shiloh just after she was born.

People magazine said that they didn’t pay $2 mil for the pictures. They said it was much less, but won’t disclose the amount. A hundred thousand dollars is a lot of money, especially in a country like the Sudan. They can do a lot with that money. The amount of money given should reflect the need, and the economy where the need exists. Giving too much can lead to wastefulness. Keep your ears alert. I am sure their will be more donations handed out. Thanks Brad and Angie.

After having volunteered for years with several small nonprofits, the common practice I enountered was that the groups publicly trumpeted every donation, grant, etc. they received, as a way of thanking the donors and funders, and as a way to publicize the group and its aims and goals and therefore attract more donations. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS IN THE REAL WORLD.
The Jolie-Pitt Foundation so far is doing a good job of trying to target and fund “seed money” projects that benefit many. Brad and Angelina are doing their homework and making wise use of their funds.

Yes, most of the foundations invest the money, and use the interest earned to pay various charities. In that case, there will be a stream of money coming in. Most of the foundation usually fund a project by giving them money yearly. In that case, that ensures the project meeting milestone or goal, which means accountability. When certain goals are met by the project, the foundation will give out money again so as to continuously fund the ongoing project.
That’s what most of the college endowment fund works. Harvard never spends on the principal. They use the interest earned to give out grants to students.

I would guess that any foundation in Africa with too much extra cash lying around would just become a target for rebel groups. It is dangerous for them to have too much. It’s a difficult concept for many to understand when their experience is so completely different. When you live in a developed country money = safety. In the wrong place and under the wrong circumstances it can mean death.
Do they honestly think that Brad and Angelina don’t actually ASK these charities/foundations “What amount would do the most good?”. Of course they do!

Totally agree !!!! That’s what every director of the non profit org does. His job is to raise money. Publicizing the donor makes the organization “famous” and can lead to more donations from corporations. This is called VISIBILITY. After all, it’s director’s job to RAISE MONEY. Otherwise, how did he get paid????
The director of “united way” was paid very high. Because he has the ability to attract donors. the more money he gets for the org, the more value is his ability to ask for a high paycheck.

The movie was terrible but the sentiment was beautiful…Pay it Forward. Indeed Brad and Angelina keep having great blessings and they forward those blessings to others and so on and so on. Some get stuck on a dollar amount rather than looking at the bigger picture.

Everyday it seems to be nutso day at Just Jared — but that’s okay, anyone of us can slap down any of these brainless, mindless dolts whose main goal in life is to bring down Brad and Angelina, and take the kids with them, when we very well know that isn’t happening. Because of the way Brad masterfully planned their life, now, two years after the big D, he and Angelina are truly becoming a power couple in everyone’s eyes (except of course the _ fans holdouts, whose motto is NEVER SURRENDER).
If even Elisabeth Hasselbeck, she of the “forever Brad and Jen mindset”, has capitulated, then you know most of the battle has been won. Of course, the bloggers at dlisted, perezHilton, esp. I love the way they do donations. They are cautious and educate themselves about the entity before giving. That is how you donate responsibly. The publicity of the donation is not for them but for the organizations they give to so others are aware of it. ITA w/ the person who said all this unreasonable criticism made me look into it and as a family member whose opinion I trust had only good things to say about Ms. Jolie I am a fan and believe she is doing good from her heart as a human being and not as a saint. This “saint” label came from haters trying to be sarcastic. This designation never came from them or their fans.
