For those who constantly question Ms. Jolie’s efforts — please tell me what have other “high profile/wealthy” celebs done?!? As a jew, Steven S. helped to raise the important awarness of the holocost.

Bono has done an amazing job for shining the spotlight on Africa (& providing funds). Which in turn, encouraged the Gates (& Oprah) to also get invloved.

However, thera are a number of celebs with far more money than Ms. Jolie, that have done little or nothing at all. Unless, you take into account all those that jumped on the band wagon AFTER the Jolie-Pitt’s forced the photogs to follow their global efforts.

Unfortunately, the majoriyt of the humanitarian organizations don’t get the exposure needed for thier efforts without the assistance of celebs. In Ms. Jolie’s case, she appears to be vested in her work. Please tell me, how many other celebs quietly “approached” the UN (years ago) to become an Ambassador?

It was Ms. Kidman’s mother that suggested she become invloved w/UN. While I applaud her for extedning herself, it’s not the same.

The Jolie-Pitt’s could easily stay in thier comfort of thier US homes/environment yet, they put themselves in areas around the world that most celebs wouldnt dare go to. Uness, it was on the advice of their agent, manager or publicist. And, a camera crew was included to film thier efforts.

In America, ALL OF US have the ability to pull ourselves up from wherever we come from and be what we choose to be. In America, there is the Foster Care System, and Welfare/Medi-Care/Food Stamps/Cal Grants, etc. And something called Public School.

None of these programs are perfect, but the children are provided for (I believe some states have scholarships for college for kids who’ve been in Foster Care), have somewhere to live and attend school. They also have clothing, electricity and heat (for the most part). There are also tons of shelters and homeless programs for people who need it.

My point is, in Africa, and other countries (Asian or Central American, etc.), THERE ARE NO SUCH PROGRAMS. It’s a bit different to be a kid that’s an orphan but cared for, and a kid who may not make it to their 3rd birthday.

So, we should stop being so selfish and say, what about America? What ABOUT America? Why do we believe we have to have EVERYTHING first?

Some people here seem to be getting absurdly upset over freakish tabloid issues. Such a waste of time and energy, really. Why give the rags an importance they most obviously do not have? And repeat their idiotic stories continuously even if to refute them?

Every sensible person knows tabloids publish whatever lies their mendacious editors think will sell. Why bother with garbage? Angie and Brad do not - and I feel their fans should also be above the drivel.

Moreover, all this tabloid talk is excruciatingly boring. Not even a good skipper – and I’m a professional selective reader, capable of skipping haters, trolls and associated silliness just by glancing at the monikers :lol: – can stand a thread devoted to tabloids.

ITA. There were much worst stories written when Brad and Angelina first got together. It seemed each week the one of the tab had Brad and Angelina breaking up or fighting. I think that is why people that have been at JJ’s for awhile don’t take these stories seriously. Been there done that. The tabs have never been right.

I know some people are bored but reacting to the trash is sad. Life is too great to spend too much time on them.
