I guess I like the thought (as I am sure many of his worldwide, wannabe girlfriends do) of Went remaining single so that I could picture myself on his arm. But I think it is absolutely amazing (and thoroughly hilarious) how news, of this nature, sets us off. I say to anyone who chooses to try and quash the anguish of those who wish to exclaim their Went heartbreaks, to let us EXCLAIM!!! It’s sad, heartbreaking & wishful to see that others share the same feeling. Don’t calm down and don’t shut up about it! Let it out. Others need to understand that we know, one day, Went will find someone truly special and settle down. Until then, I enjoy expressing the joyful sadness of the thought that Went may soon be off the market.

1. Went doesn’t really dress up so if he goes on a date in his casual clothes, that’s just typical Wentworth, no fuss, just ordinary and low key.
2. i happen to think lunch for a first date is very romantic, no pressure, just getting to know you stuff.
3. as for the followup dinner date, finishing a wine takes a long time, so what is she spent the night, that’s just very gentlemanly of Went NOT to let a anyone drink and then drive home.

White, pressed, crisp, clean white t-shirts (not oversized) and creased khakis. Simple but still so damn sexy. The man looks incredible in anything. He could wear leaves like an guilty Adam and still be completely and utterly delicious, a burlap bag. It doesn’t even matter.
If he IS dressed down for their little get-together, that just means that they’ve been seeing each other for a while. Which makes sense if she really spent the night with him. I mean, his mother is the only person in his family that I’ve even heard him mention in an interview. Also, Went has two younger sisters. I’ve never seen them, but if their African American features are more prominent than his, that’s another strike against us. Subconsciously, when he looks at darker/black women, he sees his sisters. He would more likely want to be friends with us, maybe confide in and protect us, rather than date us. Also, his parents are divorced, if the divorce was more his father’s fault, sorry girls, that’s yet another strike against us in his subconscious mind. Not that Went’s prejudice against us, just that our preferences of the opposite sex are influence by more than what people think. Most likely he doesn’t see him nor his father’s side of the family that much. I mean let’s face it, divorces can sometimes be the best thing but the overall effect on the children is never really all that good.
A lot of these negative comments about Amie’s looks bothers me. She’s not ugly and she’s not all Hollywood, fake, picture-perfect either. I think that’s a good thing. He is so gorgeous, but he still wants an everyday average girl. Some of you should be happy. That means you just might have a chance with him. Stop all that hatin’! ;0)

OK…you just “schooled” me right there. I missed the Nicole Ari-Parker thing. What did he say about her? And did he really have an incident in school that pushed him away from fine ladies of color? I would think that Wentworth, with his level of intelligence & cognitive thinking, would not be so shallow or limit his opportunity because someone showed their ignorance. I understand that he likes to pick his battles when it comes to the race issue. But because someone chose to be totally derogatory and called him outside of his given name, I would think he would be able to rise above that. That is a very psychological way to look at it. Makes a lot of sense and I could probably see why he is drawn to the type of women he is. But if Black women can get past the amount of rejection, ridicule & judgment we deal with all day, from everywhere, rise above it all and still accept Black men in our lives, I would hope that someone like Wentworth, and others like him, could do the same. I guess I will just have to accept the idea that a woman of color may not be his ideal choice for a number of different reasons, but it would really be nice and very surprising to see. The thing is, he probably can’t help it. These things are set in stone when you are a kid and you really can’t outgrow them, no matter what. I’ve seen these weird tests that they give people to find out their strengths and weaknesses. And basically these are formed in adolescents and can not be changed. So basically, if you were shaped into being an empathetic person in your youth, you will not change. You will always be this way. So many companies use these tests to play to people’s strengths and put them in jobs that suit them and feed off of those strengths instead of trying to stick them somewhere they don’t belong.
I like Went and all but I believe this is what has happened to him and tons of other black men. I honestly don’t support black men specifically or anyone else specifically. I will stand behind a man if he is right and true but not because he is black. If I think a white person is right, I will support them. If I think an Asian brother is strong and true, I will stand behind him. I’m not going out of my way to do something for somebody who looks down on me or won’t do the same for me. The comment about Nicole was supposedly made on a radio program. He said something like she is disarmmingly beautiful or something like that. She is beautiful but I’m sure very much not on his radar and that is not for me to judge there are men who aren’t on mine. I have my own life to live and he has his.
Black men constantly make money off of degrading black women (think rap music as an example) and black women constantly hold these same guys up like a trophy. Black women outpace black men when it comes to education, finances, etc… But he is using you so he can appeal to someone else (white women or whatever), get over them and move on to another group of men. 70% of black women will never marry because of this fixation they have and the fact that the pool of eligible decent black men is small and you end up having to share. Learn that you deserve better and go find someone else. If you find a black man who loves and supports you great but if you are constantly experiencing heart break and dissappointment you need to move on. If you always do what you’ve always done, you will always get what you’ve always gotten. I always remember this from when I started working and that one little phrase taught me a whole lot. When black women start to change and start watching their own back, maybe you will see some changes in the community as well as on the outside.

Please understand that I in no way wanted to suggest that Went doesn’t prefer or will never choose to be with one of us. I only put some theories out there as to MAYBE why we haven’t seen him with one yet. I think my theories are mentally sound but not written in stone. Only Went knows what he likes, what he wants and when he’s going to get it. All I wish is for his happiness and everyone in the worldf for that matter, with whomever he/they choose(s).
I also wanted to agree with Me too, about us (black women) keeping our options open and not limiting ourselves to what seems to be a shrinking well educated, respectful, black-woman-loving/straight, African American men population. I’m blessed to have met my husband at the age of 17. We got married at 23 and we have two beautiful daughters that I’m already teaching to keep their options open. They are so young that they probably won’t have a choice BUT to do so by the time they are grown. I mean, I saw a show on NOVA a few years ago on which I heard a sociologists say that in the next few decades, everyone on this earth will be a shade of brown. We have a an Earth filled with only brown people. People just like Went. Personally, I think it’s a beautiful thing. With all the inter, bi, multiracial people in this country alone, and with all the Latino and Hispanics, the minority has ALREADY become the majority.
I know that I’ve seen interviews where Went is asked about his ethnicity and he always says that he’s very proud of who and what he is. He has said that he feels very strongly about knowing his heritage. He’s also said that he picks his battles when it comes to issues about race. I’m a huge fan of his and probably always will be. However, I still cannot get over the fact that one of the guys in the group he sang with at Princeton (Tigertones) was in Black-face in one of the pics I saw. I know a lot of white people who wouldn’t let that S#*T slide!

Oh I am so with you, Proof Please. It’s amazing how people put it out there that they know someone when we know this whole site is basically anonymous. I could have said what Jenna said as just as easily as you or anyone else for that matter. The man has already said that he’s not gay. I believe him. Anyway this debate is moot. It was put out there and he denies it. I have no idea why people keep insisting on bringing that topic up about him. I think it’s so vicious and cruel to put those types of rumors out about anyone.
I don’t think he struggles with intimate scenes with Sarah Wayne Callies at all. Went is an incredible actor and I think he did a great job. Gosh, he looks like a great kisser, doesn’t he? Wouldn’t we all like to find that out. My favorite was the one on the train. The scene in the infirmary was great too, but the lip action was mostly hidden by SWC’s hair. However, I loved that look on his character’s face afterward. You could just see sex all over him. It was in that moment that I ever wished I were someone else just for 5 minutes. Take them to various cultural events to expose them to any and everything. I’ve been in classes where I have seen young black women make derogatory remarks about Asian (and other) cultures. I hate that, if you want others to respect your culture, you need to respect theirs. I am so upset by a recent statistic that says 70% of black women will never marry because of their focus on finding a solid black man to marry. It is similar to the whole knight in shining armor theory. Women would look for that and honestly there is no one man who is that perfect but unfortunately there has been an erosion of quality black men in the community and the ones who are good men prefer white/asian/latina to be their women. And I don’t have a problem with that, in fact, I’m fine with it but I just don’t like seeing black women loose out on everything for some pipe dream that will never materialize. The thing is these girls may be checking for these “black” men but they are not checking for them. Why chase someone who doesn’t want you or will use you for “practice” and then throw you aside when something more to their “liking” comes along. Chasing men turns them off anyway so why bother.
