She looks so different with her hair curly like that. But still beautiful, and I love the dress. I saw a piece about Angie on E!, don’t know if it’s the same one piper with a low was talking about but this one was actually decent. I stand by what I said earlier, E! is playing nice guy to all the other bad tabs in hopes of scoring brownie points with Brad and Angie.

Brad has always wanted to work with the Coen brothers. He was suppose to do a silent film with them but the production company got spooked about the film being silent. The Coen’s probably offered Brad a great/funny character role.

I read the article earlier today. After slogging throught the tabs the last few months it was real joy to read an UNBIASED story on Angie and the making of AMH. I was hoping for a bit of a review on the film, but no such luck. We’ll just have to wait a month and find out at Cannes.

PT ITA. I am actually waiting for the reviews to discuss her interpretation. Not very often actors get a chance of playing someone who is still alive. See what it did for Helen Mirren. I know Marianne Pearl is not an iconic character like the British monarch, but the transformation, without big prosthetics is remarkable.

Fresh from their roles in Ocean’s 13, Brad Pitt and George Clooney are preparing another co-starring venture in the new film from the Coen brothers. The A-list Hollywood actors will take centre stage in Burn After Reading, a black comedy that is based on the brothers’ first original screenplay since 2001’s The Man Who Wasn’t There.

Burn After Reading stars Clooney as a CIA agent who mislays the disc containing a confessional book he has been writing. My major objection is that you NEVER hear of a talented Black or Latino/a actor/actress that plays the role of a real life White person. I mean, I personally would love to see Will Smith (in whiteface, of course) playing George W. Bush in a movie, or Gabrielle Union in whiteface playing Hillary Clinton, but you just don’t see that. So why is it really “ok” to allow a white actress to (so freakin’ poorly too - she looks nothing like Marianne Pearl) play a person of color??????

I really can’t wait to see this movie. I haven’t read the book, but the story is certainly pertinent to our owrld today. Angie has bee described as being “fearless” in front of the camera, and from what she said in the EW article, about having to close the door on Winterbottom’s camera to cry by herself tells me she really tapped into a deep emotional well when filming this. I am expecting to blown away. I can’t wait to see it, even though it is a very painful story with a sad ending.

“We didn’t want it to be too melodramatic or too polished.” What a convenient excuse when that’s the way it turned out but not by intent. The British crews had trouble working with the Indian crews and the whole production was short on time because of a lot of red tape. Of course it wasn’t polished. And I suspect that the acting might not have been as good as hoped either. (Just because acting is polished and perfected does not mean it is melodramatic.)

I am so looking forward to seeing AHM. This is definitely a great role for Angie like Gia, GI, George Wallace. She has the acting chops to pull off roles like this — and once again we will get to she, her work her magic. The way she can tap into her emotional is just brilliant and that is what makes a great actress, IMO.

And you consider this as something bad?? Think about it a little. Producers want their movies to succeed and get recognition because otherwise they will lose money. That means that Angie is considered a respected actress who could stand for this role. So if she wasn’t the producers that are involved wouldn’t have casted her even if she is with one of them.

And as we know I think a certain someone who was with the same producer for 7 years didn’t manage to get any project made and the though of casting her for this specific role didn’t even crossed the producer’s mind. LOL!!

I have to disagree. In Touch’s choice to use the V Tech tragedy makes them look more stupid because if, for example, Britney Spears gets a makeover, including a new red wig, and goes out on the town, their next cover will feature her ‘new’ look, extolling her newfound value and marketability. For me, if they opted not to print a mag in observance of the tragedy, then I would probably respect them.

IMO, if a magazine spends 51 weeks out of the year cheapening people’s choices and lives, they can’t redeem themselves with a seemingly thoughtful cover story for 1 week.

Killing and terrorizing people is bad, but lying, stalking, and being nasty is just fine… PLEASE!!

I am a balck woman too of Latin origin and I find it particularly offensive that a white woman should wear makeup to act a part of a black woman when there are many black actresses who would have played the part. I have never seen Angelina Jolie in such a role so I will not give my take on how she interpretes it. However am definitely not watching it because I do not think I will enjoy the movie. I guess many of you do not uderstand but if you were black you would. It would be different if she Marianne Pearl was one of those black people who looked white and that was the theme of the movie like the ‘human stain’. But this is like saying that black people were not up for the role.

Making a movie is a business venture . You dont just hire an actress based on one variable such as color. All the pieces have to fit togetherto arrive at the final decision. Factors to consider are:-

1) talent–does this actress have the acting range required by this movie

2) salary–Every movie has a budget. You may like certain actress but if she asks too much, you may have to hire someone else

I have to kind of wonder about these haters, esp. wake up, who say that Angelina does all her humanitarian and altruistic stuff, including adoption, to deflect bad press. You have to wonder why some are so afriad of Angie and the manner in which she choose to live her life. Not everyone is cut from the same cookie cutter and understand that we all are free to live life as we see fit.

No, you aren’t compelled to agree with every choice that they made, but their choices don’t impact you directly; their flying to Africa doesn’t stop food from reaching your table; their PDA or lack thereof, doesn’t affect your job performance; their collective or one-on-one time with their children doesn’t affect your lab results.

Humans living in a free society have many options at their disposal. There are many opportunities for success; there are chances for failure. If their being together is a mistakes, it is definitely, incontrovertibly, 100% their mistake to make. PEROID!!

I don’t bash either because I am happy they found a little piece of happiness in this sometimes ugly world. They are a couple and I feel if one can’t be bashed then neither should the other one. Afterall Brad chose to be with Angie — she didn’t drug him or hold a gun to his head in order to make him be with her.

I don’t always agree with the decision my two sons make but I never bash them for making them. It’s their lives and they have to live it for themselves.

Versace would be nice. It would be great if AJ wore a dress, as she did for the premiere of Mr. and Mrs. Smith, that would knock Papa Pitt and the collective media to their knees on the Red carpet. I am sure that Papa Pitt is blown away everyday by all the goodness and beauty of AJ.

You’re still being political with snarks against John Kerry. Do tell how Kerry got his medals. Are you speaking for each branch of the military? I’m a veteran of active duty service and I’m not laughing at Kerry’s service. I support and respect anyone who volunteers and serve. Where were Bush and Cheney or must they find others who have served or the uninformed as your self to support their agenda. Al Gore also served honorably on active duty. Neither Gore nor Kerry chose to hideout in Canada, college, nor use their esteemed contacts to not serve as other average citizens when they could’ve like Bush and Cheney.

I don’t recall where I read that she HAS to wear St. John for any red carpet appearances. But no matter what she wears, she’ll look fabulous. Angelina is a trendsetter and others will copy her style/look/colors afterwards — like what happened at the GG: she wore gray and at subsequent award shows, other “stars” wore gray.

I think it’s interesting that you hold Jolie with high regard when she herself has stated, “I know all addictions.” Do you know what that means? Do you not understand what that means - this is not a girl with a “troubled” past who has moved on. Jolie said herself she’s an addict, why don’t you discuss that? Does it not fit your uninformed version of her? She. Said. It. Herself. And once an addict, always an addict and that’s that. Anyone can see that Jolie is in the vortex of addiction. Classic addictive personality: She says one thing and constantly does another and nothing is in moderation and everything revolves around what she wants, because addicts are extremely self- absorbed. An addict, as Jolie professes herself to be, goes from one extreme to another because of obsessive compulsiveness, she has to be in control, she doesn’t trust people (Jolie even stated that she didn’t trust her mother) and addicts are notorious liars, as James Frey expressed when he was publicly humilated by Oprah because of his lies - “I had this blown up version of myself in order to survive..” Please feel free to do your own research about addiction and you will see Jolie to a tee.

The more contemporary view is that of a person having an addictive personality, obsessive-compulsive disorder, or exhibiting addictive behaviors. A person with an addictive personality will become addicted to almost anything and often switch addictions. They may be addicted to alcohol, give up drinking and become addicted to prescription drugs, give that up and become addicted to gambling, give that up and become addicted to… you name it.

The behaviors of an addictive process focus around 6 primary areas (Itin & Gault, 1989):
1) Denial/Dishonesty:
A core element of any addictive process is dishonesty. The dishonesty of the addictive process is not simply lies, but includes elements of exaggeration, minimizing, projection, and delusion. At the core of any addictive process is an attempt to avoid acknowledging that the person is engaged in an addictive process. If a person is using alcohol they will often hide this from those around them. Similarly if someone is a victim of sexual abuse they will often hide this from themselves and others.
2) Trust:
Those affected by addictive process have issues of trust on either end of a continuum. On one end of the continuum is trusting inappropriately (trusting another even when this trust is not earned or deserved); on the other end of the continuum is not trusting anybody (even when this trust is earned and deserved). This difficulty with trust can be viewed as difficulty with intimacy or allowing oneself to be close to another person. As one has to be dishonest about what is happening it forces a person to distrust those around them. An other person may feel so violated by the events that have occurred to them that they don’t know whom they can or can’t trust.
3) Control:
The addictive process produces issues related to control. Because the addictive process involves feeling powerless over elements within one’s life, abusers and those abused tend to take control over other things. There may be an attempt to take control over events that they have little or no control over. There may be a high degree of rigidity in their style of dealing with other people. The attempts to control are an illusion that the person’s life is not unmanageable. Others may feel so demoralized by their inability to control the addiction that they give up all control and play the role of victim.
4) Feelings:
The addictive process requires that a person becomes separate from their emotions. The use of substances themselves numb a person’s feelings. The intensity of the experience that the person is dealing with may also cause the person to become numb to the feelings involved in the situation and eventually all situations. This does not mean that a person will feel no emotion, rather they may limit themselves to one or two emotions that theyfeel most comfortable with. For example, a person may feel only anger, or only sadness regardless of the appropriateness of the emotion.
5) Thinking Patterns:
To maintain the elements of control, separation of feelings, and denial the person dealing with the addictive process must develop ways of thinking which support the addictive process. These thinking patterns tend to be rigid, dualistic (either/or) and obsessive (intrusive or repetitive).
6) Low Self Worth/Esteem:
People dealing with the addictive process generally are affected by low self-worth and self esteem. This is to say that people will look outside themselves for validation. There is a tendency to react rather than act. There is also a sense of isolation and avoidance of others. The loss of self-esteem is a direct result of the addictive process.
7) Spirituality:
Spirituality is a relationship with something outside oneself. This can be viewed as a lack of real concern for others, a high degree of self-centeredness, a lack of belief in anything outside oneself and a lack of belief in ones own moral or value system. The addictive process will often cause a person to loose connections with those outside the addictive process (e.g., those who are not abusing substances or involved in the abusive relationship). Furthermore there will often be a loss of a belief in a higher power.
