Brad & Angelina to do the Cannes Cannes
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are set to open the Cannes Film Festival on May 16 in France with A Mighty Heart, produced by Pitt’s company, Plan B.
“The story unfolds like a mystery,” said Jolie, who plays Mariane Pearl, the widow of slain Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl. “You’ve got people collecting clues and trying to solve what happened. But it’s also very real and personal. We didn’t want it to be too melodramatic or too polished. We didn’t want it to be a typical movie.”
Says co-star Dan Futterman (pictured), “It would usually take about five minutes before people would figure out that it was Angelina. So we ended up shooting a lot of the exterior stuff in five-minute increments.”

Did you even read what you posted? You said “Let’s be real, Angie got the part because she is shacked up with the producer.” Meaning that Angie got the part just because she is with the producer and nothing else. But you where so positive about it unlike me right?? LMAO!!!
As I said Angie is an Academy Award winning actress and a respected one and that is why they hired her. Not because she was with the producer. I brought JA’s name up as an example that unless you have some talent you won’t get a job just because you are with a producer. If that was the case then Plan B would have made at least one movie with her but they didn’t. It was a plain example. Don’t get so frustrated. LOL!!!
Also I want to say the movie is already made and any issue with color and all is too late. It’s been debated a million times, let’s not engage haters on that again. Let’s focus on what MP went through as a woman, and support this movie. Angie looks beautiful as always.
Lets please ignore the people who come here to cause trouble.

Apparently Brad is not going to the Chicago premiere:
Speaking of sequels
Both “Ocean’s Eleven and “Ocean’s Twelve” featured scenes shot in Chicago.
Not so “Ocean’s Thirteen,” the latest installment in George Clooney’s Rat Pack-inspired franchise. Yet the Windy City has been tapped to host the film premiere June 7.
“We don’t understand it,” said a source, who wished to remain anonymous, linked to the event. “I guess they just think Chicago’s a great city.”
In this follow-up to the sequel, charming con man Danny Ocean (Clooney) rounds up the boys for a third caper after casino boss Willie Bank (Al Pacino) double-crosses one of the original 11, Reuben Tishkoff (Elliott Gould). Andy Garcia, reprising his role as casino owner Terry Benedict, sides with Ocean’s team this time. The movie opens nationwide June 8.
Details remain sketchy, but Clooney and co-stars/accomplices Don Cheadle and Matt Damon have RSVP’d for the charity bash. Oprah Winfrey is a maybe — one scene shows Clooney sobbing during “Oprah.” Another “maybe” is Ellen Barkin, who will play Damon’s older-woman love interest.
Alas, Brad Pitt and Pacino have sent their regrets. Organizers are still waiting to hear from the likes of ensemblemates Bernie Mac, Casey Affleck and Gould.
Vanity Fair magazine editor Graydon Carter is hosting the event to raise money for the International Rescue Committee, which aids war victims around the world. The cause is dear to the heart of Clooney, who visited Darfur last year and filmed a documentary on refugees living in Chad.
The “Ocean’s Thirteen” evening will include a premiere of the movie at AMC River East 21, followed by a soirée at the new Room 21 restaurant, nightclub, set to open at 2100 S. Wabash Ave. Tickets for the screening alone will start at $500. Details will be announced at a later date.
Just count on digging deep to hobnob with Clooney & Co. The event will be “very chi-chi,” the source said. “There will be a very, very, high-end package available for those who wish to mingle with the stars.”

I have to disagree. In Touch’s choice to use the V Tech tragedy makes them look more stupid because if, for example, Britney Spears gets a makeover, including a new red wig, and goes out on the town, their next cover will feature her ‘new’ look, extolling her newfound value and marketability. For me, if they opted not to print a mag in observance of the tragedy, then I would probably respect them.
IMO, if a magazine spends 51 weeks out of the year cheapening people’s choices and lives, they can’t redeem themselves with a seemingly thoughtful cover story for 1 week.
Killing and terrorizing people is bad, but lying, stalking, and being nasty is just fine… PLEASE!!

I am a balck woman too of Latin origin and I find it particularly offensive that a white woman should wear makeup to act a part of a black woman when there are many black actresses who would have played the part. I have never seen Angelina Jolie in such a role so I will not give my take on how she interpretes it. However am definitely not watching it because I do not think I will enjoy the movie. I guess many of you do not uderstand but if you were black you would. It would be different if she Marianne Pearl was one of those black people who looked white and that was the theme of the movie like the ‘human stain’. But this is like saying that black people were not up for the role.
Is this a wedding scene with Angie and Dan in this photo? The dress is cut the same way across the shoulders as Angie MAMS wedding dress. Hmmmm…. wonder if she favors that style?
Either way, the dress is really pretty and Angie looks lovely as Marianne. From what little we saw of the production, it looks like Angie is going to be wearing alot of colorful clothing in AMH. One of the reasons I like to see movies is to see how actors transform themselves, and it appears that Angie took on the character of MP very well from what we can tell so far.
QQQQ:
Thanks for the info. I had planned to go to the premiere (just stay outside AMC River theater, of course, can’t afford the $500 per ticket) with Missouri Fan, but Brad already nixed the event? OOOOHHHH NNNOOOOO!!!! ((((sobbing!)))) Why oh why can’t he go to Chi-Town if only for one night??? I had to endure the shooting of TBU here, with the ex’s and VV’s presence the summer of 2005, and during the premiere of 2006 — and I had thought that it’s my turn now with Braddy, GC and AP. But only GC and MD? No AP even? Boy, am I so crushed!
So Brad will not be attending the premiere in Chicage:cry: they have a full agneda, I doubt they will be able to attend all the premieres.JMO.

My comment about hate was in general about the haters that are coming here to pick up on everything. It wasn’t necessarily pointed at you but you got very riled up when you shouldn’t. Probably because you are one anyway. LOL!!!
You can disagree with me for all I care. I have the right to express my disagreement to your opinion as you have the right to express your disagreement to my opinion. Fair enough I think.

I’m black and I don’t understand where you are coming from. Will Smith is one of the most powerful man in HW and if he wanted to play a role like that then he would but that doesn’t go for all actors of color. I for one believe that the best actress for the job should play the part and if that actress happens to be one of color or not doesn’t matter. The fact that MP didn’t have a problem with Angelina playing her is all that matters imo. It is her story afterall.

Well, I am black and I’m not feeling you. Angie didn’t wear makeup. If you just look at the pic above, you’ll see that. How many times have you read an interview with Black actors where they explained that the part they played was intended for a White actor? Happens all the time. Angie is no different. They may have also wanted/needed a big name for this movie.
Never frustrated by meaningless ppl to me. She did not audition for it and get it; she was casted because she is shacked up with the producer. Never said she wasn’t a good actress, which would be your negative thinking on my behalf. Boy you took a lot of negative from a very short statement; do you often do that much thinking on other ppl’s behalf?
While we were on the subject she got an Oscar for playing a really unbalanced person, who at the time she was clearly that and said her self she identified most with that character then any other character she has play. So, I am not sure if that is really stretching one self? That role was not a challenge to her; to me (my opinion) when you play someone that is outside of what you know is a challenge.

;) Man… that Brad is a busy boy…
Juggling Annette Bening, Jack Nicholson, Matt Damon, Leo, Molly Shannon, and dozens of others… after all, that’s the only way they could get into a Brad Pitt production… SIDE DISHES… all of them!!! {eye roll}
MP approved that Angie plays her. Anyone who does not approve downplays the problem that MP went through as a woman. When suffering, death and evil come calling, color does not come into play, every color is affected. Look at the bigger picture. I look forward to seeing the movie in future, I heard it is good.

This is the internet. I never take things seriously. Plus, I’m older, more life experience, therefore probably stronger and can take heat. I’ve always had a mind of my own.

Mariane Pearl is French Cuban, not black. Plus she has lighter skin than most black. Also, Mariane Pearl is friends with Angie. So, if Mariane doesn’t have any problem, why should we.

You are absolutely right Piper. In Touch should have a bit of self-knowledge of the trash they are. That is why I said that they are looking so ridiculous trying so very hard to present their selves with a little decency. They are just laughable and pathetic.
Wow, do I have a lo of catching up to do.
It’s gonna be a busy next couple of months so expect a lot of film press over the next few months.
I wonder what the Czech press’s reaction to Angelina will be? Prague is like the quintessential Eastern European city and here is this famous actress who can claim part of her heritage from there.
If haters have a problem with this imagined issue of race in AMH, they should take it up with Marianne Pearl, not Angelina. this is where, Mrs. pearl is gonn have to step up and voice her views if asked about the subject. She is a woman of color who was raised in Europe and has a totally different percpective when it comes to “labels”. She also has had an international life that not many people have experienced especially in this contry. I hope she will be open enough to listen to why some are concerned but also let people know that she understands the concerns but with this film, coming from her perpective, a white woman playing her is a non issue in this particular film.
I want to beleive that he’s not going to Chicago because he has better things to do and he’s not ditching a FREAKING CHARITY EVENT for Dafur because he’s still pissed at Graydon Carter, that would be low!
I don’t care if Marianne agreed that Angie plays her. She was paid already so what could she say. Like someone said, if they auditioned and Angie came out top, then you would say she was the best person for the part. Do you see any one complaining abotu Wentworth Miller in Prison Break? That is why they could not come up with better and it was an auditioning process. And Yes Angie had to wear dark make up, use your eyes.
