Heath Ledger as The Joker — FIRST LOOK
Here are the first close-up pictures of Aussie actor HEATH LEDGER as THE JOKER, mouth scarring and all.
Is 28-year-old Heath menacing enough as the original Joker, played by Jack Nicholson in the original Batman film?
Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight co-starring Christian Bale, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Heath Ledger, Aaron Eckhart, Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine is set for a July 18, 2008 release.

But I think this new scarier Joker is a good thing since the Christian Bale as Batman movies have a darker and more serious undertone, unlike the campy ones directed by Tim Burton and Joel Schumacher. Though I do love Jack Nicholson as Joker.

Hahaha! This article is yellow journalism as it’s finest. I only found it through a Google Search gone wrong. First there is the fake badly photoshopped picture that looked nothing like the final result. And there was the poorly researched claim that Jack Nicholson was “the original Joker” when at least four actors claimed his role and portrayed in radio, television and film before Nicholson got the reins in 1989.
The original posters blasting Ledger and this picture must be eating some humble pie now.
