Celine Dion & Elvis Presley Duet

Celine Dion & Elvis Presley Duet

The geniuses behind American Idol had Celine Dion go back to the year of her birth for a duet with a virtual Elvis Presley (computer-generated hologram).

The powerhouse singers sang Elvis‘ hit single “If I Can Dream.” Watch the video below!

What did you think of the duet? VERY COOL or VERY CREEPY?

i’m sorry, but that was the dumbest thing i’ve seen since nat king & natalie cole did a “duet” like 20 years ago. i got up & took a leak when i saw elvis & celine come out.

# 2

that was just too creepy to watch.

# 3

yeah i thought it was creepy/weird too.

# 4

That was fantastic!

# 5

I thought that was the coolest, sweetest, best thing ever!! I have tears in my eyes just thinking off the moments like this we lost when he died. Bravo!!!!

# 6

That was a nice duet. A little creepy. If they hug at the end, I was going to get up and make sure all my doors were still locked. Modern technology is amazing and the King lives on.

Bravo! Loved it!

I think it was well put together, the voices also sounded great and I have never been an Elvis nor a Celine fan but can you imagine the time it took to do this? No need to put the performance down just hope that maybe one day someone would want to raise up a dead hater-it might just be you!

neither. it’s alarming that we accept this blurring of reality. the line is being pushed much too far.

That is so cool and creepy and fascinating and plain out WEIRD all at the same time. He looks so real.

Weird. Creepy. Frightening.

Completely COOL! A little bit weird. But definitely worth the price of admission!

Many may be too young to feel that tingling feeling mixed with sadness and reminiscence of days gone past……but, like Danielle…it brought tears to my eyes, and wishing for the days back when. Although there were many challenges….there were still the unknown that needed to be discovered. The turning of the era and lifestyles. You were still able to find those with that fighting heart, and pride in humanity. Nowadays…..it is sad how our generation have taken advantage of the bountiful blessings, and disregarding what it means to earn your pay. No work ethics, it is mostly……hand outs…..but, our society made it this way……so sad. I miss those days….it was a beautiful duet…..

The technology is mindboggling. Two dead people singing. Genius.

That was so creepy! I don’t know how they did it, if it was a hologram or if it was computer-generated.

StoppingIn @ 04/26/2007 at 12:40 am

What was frightening & weird was the fruit cake host who introduced them name Ryan Sissycrest.

What’s even creepier was Sanjaya siniging on stage as well when he wasn’t really there! They brought him back like they did Elvis. The performance of Celvis was taped before Sanjaya was eliminated so they had to do some editing. But they forgot to edit him out. Next thing you see he’s in the audience! LMBFAO!!!!!!!!!!

Here are the screencaps of this “magical” night LOL!!!!

yucky yucky yucky
so glad i was dvring it so i could skip it. thought it might be ok (not really) but after a few pain filled seconds (30 or so) i had to switch the channel. luckily the dvr allows me to not have to suffer through that pain.

HORRIBLE

Very cool. Love that woman, and the duet was amazing.

“If I Can Dream”…perfect song for this dream of a duet! Loved it!

Wow……what a cool duet.

Really amazing!

—————Elvis you rock—————————————————————-

Why is everyone finding this creepy?
It’s amazing!!
What an honor for Celine!
That was just beautiful, truly.

loved it from an big Elvis fan

I thought that was the best thing ever! It was awesome to see this.I still get goose bumps when I hear Elvis. I too, have tears in my eyes just thinking of the moments like this we lost when he died. Bravo!!!!

ELVIS IS STILL THE KING OF ROCK AND ROLL!!!

I thought it amazing! I would have loved to listen to Elvis only, but nonetheless it was fantastic…LOVED IT!!

I agree with Linda….ELVIS FOREVER BABY!!!! I was teary eyed and covered in goosebumps while listening to his magnificent voice. The best performance by far!

This was technological perfection. Can those who are under 25 years of age understand how much effort was made by passionate people who dreamt that this day would come ! It was spotless and daring and magnificent ! This was the birth of your future! Remember you saw it, and but maybe you didn’t see it for its significance.

~ A Wiser One.

Wonderful .. Celine has the golden pipes Elvis daughter does not possess. I think Elvis would have been honored to duet with her too.

It was amazing to see Elvis one more time on stage singing with those lights shinning on him as they should have. What a treat. Some of you may not know but August will be 30 years since we lost Elvis and to see him last night was like a dream for many of us. Celine was great and I am sure if Elvis was still here he might have just done a duet with her. I had tears and goosebumps and I was sad knowing this wasn’t for real. That is what need to know, it was entertainment not real. But, Elvis will always be real in my heart and in so many others. Thank you American Idol for giving us a little of what we lost 30 years ago. I could have watched that all night..

BRAVO! BRAVO! BRAVO! I saw Elvis sing that when it premiered back in the day on good ol TV and I was Blown away when I saw it. Not creepy but mind boggleing actually. The coolest thing I have ever seen, technology is truly amazing.

Elvis is what entertainment should be. We don’t have entertainment today.

I thought it was cool I have already purchased the video off of itunes.

HottieTottie @ 04/26/2007 at 10:48 am

BEST thing on tv in the last 10 years!! Kudos!! Would love to see more duets like this!!

That was creepy yet im intrigued. I dont know what to think of that. The whole singing with a dead Elvis animation is totally freaking me out. And that was on prime time TV. chills.

WOW is all I can say, what the advancement of technology has done, I was an Elvis fan from the first time I saw him in 1956 in downtown Memphis and I was just a kid!!! And when we had to go to a neighbors to watch him on the Ed Sullivan Show, because we didn’t have a TV, and the one we watched wasn’t in color!! What advantages you young people have now…….Please use it to the fullest, you have the whole world ahead of you. Appreciate the OLD as well as the NEW!!

Get rid of Celine Dion and its great! Just have Elvis up there!!!!!!!!!!!1

heyy ppl, at the very begining of that vid the host said”in Egypt”well, does anyone knows why he mentioned egypt?!?!?1well iam egyptian, so iam just curious as well as i think that duet was pretty silly..besides me lovin Celine Dion alot…

Excellent stuff and I truly mean that. I was wondering though was it a hologram or was it like taken from one of his concerts, technically not really a computer generated hologram?

creepy. celine was looking at him like he was actually there.

Brilliant! Pertfect song for the show…it gave me goosbumps

oh my gosh. I loved it. Yes it was creepy. But I love Elvis. I only really started loving his songs probably 15 yrs ago. So he had been dead for long time. But I too had goosebumps. Celine (not my fav) was GREAT! She sang different I guess that is why I really liked her with this song. Glad if DVR it…….I can go back and rewatch it later. Thanks AI

Sue Reich @ 04/26/2007 at 5:40 pm

I REALLY loved it, I am listening to it again right now. It made me cry because it was so beautiful. I sent it to my sister Marilyn. Thank you for putting “share” on this page so I could forward it on. Thanks, thanks, thanks- - - - - -Sue KCK

I felt like I was watching Star Trek at first, but technology is awesome. I can’t imagine what it must have felt like for Celine Dion to be standing next to and singing with one of the greatest performers ever. I wish I would have had the opportunity to see Elvis live.

AWSOME, I NEVER LOOKED SO GOOD!

THANK YOU, THANK YOU VERY MUCH

30 years later after his death and he still has it!!!!! Iam talking about Elvis the greatest singer that ever lived. Celine is very good I went out to see her in Las Vegas in 2003 very good and both singing together what genius thought this up supurb!!!! Technology is great I hope to see more of this, they both make me cry when I hear them.

Not at all creepy - how weird to even think it was - I don’t get that.
Really cool! Awesome technology!
The BEST performance in an otherwise “lackluster” show.

Toots Mettura @ 04/26/2007 at 8:45 pm

This was FANTASTIC! Elvis is as relevent and exciting today as he was 30 yrs ago!
Elvis lives Forever!

I think that people don’t truly realize what reallllll!!!!! music and talent is all about. We have too many young kids with too much time on their hands and no expierence of what real music is. I thought the Celine, Elvis performance was an awesome thing. You don’t realize how truly amazing it would have been to be on stage with some of the greats of the past.
Our music has gone to the dogs literally, it has no heart to it.

This was one of the most fabulous and amazing events in music history…who else could ever have pulled off a duet this well with Elvis other than Celine? I found it to be extravagent…very well thought out AND put together. What an honor for Celine to *sing* with the “King”!!! For those of you who think it’s creepy…lighten up!!!

I have been a Huge fan of both singers but more for Elvis–always have been. I was tremendously excited but saddened at the same time to know that he is no longer with us. This will be the closest I’ll ever get to see him on stage. I believe he would have been honored because that the kind of person he was–he was always giving to a good cause like the via Hawaii Satellite–& now he’s still making history. He was an excellent performer, a good son, a good father, loyal to his country & faith in God & he is still so badly missed. He brought something to the world nobody else with all the technology can do–he was naturally gifted. Celine was classy as always. It was the best thing I’ve seen in a long time & the younger generation just don’t realize what the world lost when we lost him.

The technology truly amazed us. We can’t stop replaying this video on the Internet or our DVR. We are HUGE Elvis fans and loved the duet last night. I don’t see how anyone could have thought that was creepy or anything but magnificent. I just can’t imagine how much they put into that performance. Well done American Idol and Thank you Celine Dion and whoever else could have had any part of this duet. We are young Elvis fans but have always been fascinated by him. Again, thanks. VERY VERY COOL. Loved it. Still watching!!!!

WOW amazing ,

Elvis the king with
Celine the Diva !!!!!

Nice Duo !!!!!!!!

The hologram of Elvis was amazing. Trust me this is only the beginning of what technology is going to do with this type of entertainment. You were some of the first to witness it. Imagine if your photos were like this. Some people thought flying in an airplane was wierd at the time.

Elvis and Celine a perfect pair. Elvis continues to make people lives happier.God Bless the king!
EdWon

Cool…. get used to this folks …. it’s the future of entertainment.

wow… sooo cool. amazing technology. bringin people back to life. it’s like what we could have in the future.. imagine all the great dead men and women walkin around in a museum (or something) with this technology. bravo to the people who made this duet possible. soo great.

This was fantastic. Elvis was and is the king. He and Celine did a fantastic job. Kids of today don’t really appreicate good music. Celine has a wonderful voice and to pair her with Elvis was a stroke of greatness. The person who thought this up should be commended. This is just the start of things to come. Like someone else said wouldn’t it be great to actually “see ” great people of the past as they are giving speeches that changed history. This was not creepy or wierd. Hope to see more of this. Maybe we can see more of Elvis singing either alone or with someone. Elvis rocks!!!!!!!!!

LOVED IT! I think it was pure genius! I’m a big fan of both Celine Dion and Elvis although I wasn’t born yet when Elvis was in the peak of his career. I couldn’t get enough of it I still watch the video everyday!

What a wonderful performance to see and hear. The person/people that put it all together is/are truly talented. I enjoyed seeing and hearing both performers together very much. To all those who find it creepy and weird, you just don’t enjoy perfection when you see and hear it!!!!!

not sure who thinks sanjaya was on stage……..where did you get that from frenchy? …………thought the duet was LOVELY!…….not going to see anything that powerful from anyone else

I thought it was totally awesome, I sat there and watched in awe……Something we all should appreciate……modern technology is fantastic…..Too bad all didn’t enjoy it.

Richard Hamel @ 04/28/2007 at 10:05 am

Celine Dion, she’s a angel of our time and Elvis a god of out time.

this was REALLY AMAZING! it just proves that anything is possible with modern technology! Creepy? well…maybe just a tad bit but it was more amazing than creepy :) I’m glad Idol raised a lot! $ 60 million so far, am i right? Thats really great! they are actually promoting awareness of the issues around us that seem to be neglected for some singing contest. It’s great they’re using their status to promote a good cause. :)

amazing!!!shocking !

pat williams @ 04/28/2007 at 3:41 pm

I thought the video was fantastic, it gave me the chills. Elvis was a great entertainer and will live on forever, no one could ever take his place.

This was one of the most precious and wonderful things I have ever seen. What an honor to The King of Rock & Roll. 30 yrs. later and he is still remembered by those of his error and many other generations. Now with new technology, he will continue to be remembered and re-discovered
by the youth of this country for his musical brillance!!!! Those who say this was creepy or put EP down, obviously know nothing about him or music. As the saying goes, “If you’re an Elvis Fan, you just get it.” “If you are not,you never will.” I feel bad for those who don’t get it cause they have truly missed out on the best. Maybe that’s why Elvis was named Artist of the Cantury. You think????????

Ginette Veilleux @ 04/29/2007 at 5:21 am

Bravo! Bravo! Bravo!
Bravo! René. Bravo! Céline et Bravo! Elvis Presley.

Ginette Veilleux, Lasalle

I was stunned……….it was as if my hero was back, alive and kicking…and so very beautiful. Lord, what will they think of next…………..Elvis, come back…..we need you.

Wow! That was beautiful. It gave me chill bumps, I love Elvis!!!

Wow!!!!!!!! Love LOVE Loved it. There is never enought Elvis in the world. I wish more music today could be understood. He is and always will be the king.

Now THAT was entertainment! Fox, take a bow and please seriously consider doing something like that on a prime time special to honor THE KING this August on what will be the 30th anniversary of his death.

It was not at all creepy, but a wonderful tribute, a wonderful song, a wonderful application of technology, and a wonderful joining of hands across generations.

Any chance to again see Elvis at the height of his powers is always welcome. I was a little girl lying on the carpet in front of the TV, propped on my elbows and eagerly pounding my toes on the floor the night his half of that performance first aired. I loved seeing it again, and in a way that renewed my childhood wonder. I think it’s fantastic that entire generations of viewers who may never have actually heard or seen an Elvis performance, but only have heard jokes about his last years in Vegas, got a chance to see and hear for themselves why he *is* the king.

All that said…I don’t think they improved on the original. Had they kept both voices throughout, with Celine Dion sometimes in harmony, sometimes in unison with Elvis, I think I would have been absolutely blown away, because she is an excellent singer. Because his voice was so much more powerful than hers, to make the transitions from one voice to the other they actually took out his voice in the very parts where [I know from hearing it over the years] he really soared. The result repeatedly left me feeling as if I’d been taken to the brink of a precipice and then unceremoniously dropped off to stand looking at the view just when I expected to fly. Someone who didn’t know the Elvis-only version might not get that feeling, but… In addition, again because I know where the melody is “supposed” to go, the fact that she was frequently singing an alternate melodic line highlighted for me the fact that something—Elvis’s voice, *the* melody—was missing.

Those minor complaints aside, I loved it. What a stirring and moving moment, and so unexpected, at a time when I’ve long since ceased expecting such an experience from television.

Rosie is a BIG FAT PIG!

It was a nice nostalgic piece reflecting the horrible trouble and tensions over the King and Kennedy assasinations and of course that other phoney war…the performance was convincing EXCEPT usually wore dresses when performing. And on stage with the King in business slacks is Kitchy at least.
Billy V

Rosie is still a BIG FAT PIG!

Bravo!!!Perfect matching!!!

As an Elvis fan - it was amazing to see him come alive again.
Some called it wierd & creepy. I didn’t. It was a fantastic performance. Celine’s vocal was good as usual and their voices blended very well. Great to hear Elvis golden vocals again. I enjoyed every moment of it. Thanks to the producers for the great memories. Yeah… goose bumps and some teary moments!

The king of rock n roll still lives after he’s gone.I thouht the duet was beyond this world, and it was!! Whats wrong in remembering the whorld’s greatest American Idol of all time.I think it was a job well done,I look at it as a tribute to Elvis Presley and his life ,and the music he left us to remember him as the person, the man he truly was. There will never be a great performer like him.amd like many others who came before and after him,can never take his place or fill his shoes the way he did. He’ll live forever in our hearts………….

GOD BLESS THE KING (THERE IS ONLY ONE ELVIS)

I think this video was brillant& made me cry & still dose’s and I just Love elvis Presley,he is the king and alway’s will be,anyone who just not like this is just plain crazy It is A Super video Beverly
