Angelina Jolie announces the establishment of Global Action for Children (GAC)’s new headquarters in Washington, DC at a news conference held at the National Press Club on Thursday.
Angelina said, “The numbers associated with this problem are staggering. It is overwhelming and the scale of the problem seems to give many an excuse for inaction. In many ways it is better to think of these children one by one — each deserving of our care and attention, each being of equal value, and each being a test of whether justice — or injustice — will prevail.
“I am here to simply ask you to think about orphaned children not as a burden but as a great opportunity. Their education is an investment in our future. … They have had to work very, very hard to survive, but when they are given a chance, they grow strong, stronger than most. … The Lost Boys of Sudan are a great example.”
The GAC is a nonpartisan advocacy organization focused on on increasing funding by $2.5 billion per year by the U.S. government for programs that support orphans and vulnerable children.

Bless your compassionate heart Angelina Jolie. My opinion, her heart is more inclined on these kind of actvities. When she appear on these particular occasion, she does not care how she appear, because she wants people to focus more on the issue that she’s representing than to herself. But we all know it don’t happen. People will stare and pick on her appearance. I notice that her face still reflects some sadness. But to me I understand that, she just recently lost one of the dearest person in her life, her mom. Also, she’s still modeling for St. John collections, she needed to maintain a certain weight for that. Another thing also on her latest upcoming movie, “A Mighty Heart”, she needed to maintain a certain wieght on that movie. Plus include her hectic business activities and caring for four small children, whew! I would say she’s a superwoman.

I supposed the haters’ picking on Angelina’s looks are the last refuge for the d@mned. After all, she presses on despite the barrage of criticisms leveled at her.
Meanwhile, there is Alec Baldwin: directed a disgusting rant at his 11 year old daughter; initially stated that he would not comment regarding this controversy; then, within a day, commented on the controversy but came across as self-serving for promoting an impending book; then he and his talent agent parted ways; threatened to quit his job and leave the country; and now, prerecorded a segment on the View, stationed between Rosie O’Donnell and Barbara Walters, two women whose credibility could be considered lackluster at best, given their personal and professional conduct as of late.
So tell me, haters and fans who insisted that Brad and/or Angelina defend the ‘blob’ comment, do you still think that either of them dropped the ball now?

I have always liked Angie even in her wild and crazy honest teenage days,nothing will ever change that. Same with Brad ,He’s a sweetheart and they make a great couple with a fine growing family . Great news too to see Pax ’s name is going to be a Pitt posted for all to see.
I was reading these posts after leaving the other thread and i remembered a quote Angie made a long time ago in her younger yrs. That quote really stayed with me because even now as a mature beautiful women with many titles after her name she ’s still the same honest person only better and lives her quotes to the fullest. She said ”

I in no way mean Angie is making a fool of herself but it’s obvious the press is trying to do just that ,with all of there nonsense for no other reason than sensationalism even though it’s all lies. People who believe that stuff are either not her fan and or they are ignorant.
This quote alone tells me she doesn’t care what the naysayers think and she will just keep doing what she is doing. I don’t think there is anything in this world better than giving and helping the less fortunate. That’s what Angelina Jolie is all about for the last 6 yrs.
For anyone who has visited a third world country knows if you went into the depts of the most povery stricken sites you walk away and it’s something you will never forget for the rest of your life..Too sad for words and you feel so helpless . Angie did do something about it though. She brought attention to people and places we never heard of and put her heart and soul into it filled with enormous generosity putting herself to the test and just keeps up and keeps on, never stops to worry about the gossip . Angie is not one to talk badly about other people so she is not going to listen or want to hear crap about her confident self.
I have always found givers to be confident people People that do good for others are above all of the small talk gossip as they should be jmo
I praise these pictures .This is another cry for the poor and Angie involved once again with another Organization to help innocent children and not for games ,tv’s, or computers but the necessities like food ,clothing ,water and education. That’s so wonderful!! Angie’s spirit is so alive from giving. I feel really good for her that she doesn’t care about mean people’s >haters perception of her. So for the weak ,ignorant people who come here to talk about her make up, clothes, weight,eyes , just trivial things ..well others here have said it better than me , what they are missing or refuse to see is the big picture by not reading the message, the true meaning while sitting in their comfy computer chairs babbling about the past or how aweful she looks. I bet ya Angie is not thinking about how she looks for the camera’s in these pics. I think she would be bubbling over with excitement at what is being created here…for the innocent kids.
People who have nothing don’t care that they have Angelina Jolie in their sight, they care that she gives so she is not impressing these people with her looks. She is impressing them with her heart and that’s what matters.

Angie is simply being professional looking here (not actress) with sharp dress.
I love the dress and hair style. She does not look old at all- she just has some wrinkles (not use botox). Actually she looks cute and sexy at the same time.
I think Angelina looks great. She looks a bit tired, but I think she has gained a few pounds from earlier in the year. I am so glad that she is doing what she can to help children around the world.
Firstly, GAC is doing good to focus on educating the poor children. It’s absolutely necessary. In some countries very little is spent on education. One such country is Pakistan. For years, only 2% of the nation’s budget was spent on education. This needs to be contrasted with the fact that the army drew nearly 40% of the budget. The result is that desparate parents send their children to religious schools run by almost mullahs, just so their children derive some education for a while.
I should add that I know someone in Pakistan who is setting up primary schools (to year 5 or 6) there for as little as US$500 a year. The schools are really in someone’s home. The charity provides blackboards, basic school books, a teacher - all out of the teachers home. The teacher has high school education and is paid a salary. Some 20 to 30 students under the age of 12 attend these schools. The brighter ones are given scholarships to attend high school. But the hope is that all will come out with basic literacy and numeracy. English is taught.
Secondly, I clicked on the close up photos of Angelina. What fantastic skin A touch of foundation, powder. A little eye shadow - no more I don’t think. For most people, if their skin were magnified 2 times, would look like they had a bad case of chicken pox when they were in their teens!
third, GAC obviously see the value of having Angelina as a honorary chairperson and advocate. Just this publicity alone is equal to thousands of dollars of advertising. it will no doubt translate into donations as well.
Fourthly hahahahahahahahaha “her eyes are too bright”. My goodness, this poor paid flack (reference to singular is intentional!!) is desparately scrabbling at the bottom of the barrel to find something, anything to criticise here. Now her eyes are too bright. All I can say about that criticism is that it has one advantage of novelty in that I’ve never ever heard anyone write that about anyone else on a celebrity blog till now - how bright the celebrity eyes are. Not Kate Moss, Peter Doherty, Lindsay Lohan etc, known users of drugs. Not anyone. Because, of course, it is impossible to tell that someone’s eyes are too bright from photos!!!
So for those who think her eyes are “too bright” I suggest that you consider reducing the glare on your computer screen. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
