Angelina Jolie announces the establishment of Global Action for Children (GAC)’s new headquarters in Washington, DC at a news conference held at the National Press Club on Thursday.
Angelina said, “The numbers associated with this problem are staggering. It is overwhelming and the scale of the problem seems to give many an excuse for inaction. In many ways it is better to think of these children one by one — each deserving of our care and attention, each being of equal value, and each being a test of whether justice — or injustice — will prevail.
“I am here to simply ask you to think about orphaned children not as a burden but as a great opportunity. Their education is an investment in our future. … They have had to work very, very hard to survive, but when they are given a chance, they grow strong, stronger than most. … The Lost Boys of Sudan are a great example.”
The GAC is a nonpartisan advocacy organization focused on on increasing funding by $2.5 billion per year by the U.S. government for programs that support orphans and vulnerable children.

Brit, I don’t think the spotlight as a result of her affair with Pitt brings anything good, if anything it detracts all attention from her work and people concetrate on calling her names instead of realising there is a problem. May be the only good is that now she can adopt as many kids for whichever reason, at least they don’t go hungry.
I really, really like Angelina and has always been since Hackers.

WASHINGTON—Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are giving gifts of $1 million each to two humanitarian organizations, an adviser to the couple said Wednesday.
The recipients are Global Action for Children and Medecins sans Frontieres/Doctors Without Borders.
“In the most troubled parts of the world _ places that much of the world has abandoned _ MSF is always there,” said Jolie in a statement issued by Trevor Neilson, the couple’s philanthropic and political adviser. “I have seen these brave men and women working in war zones and horrific conditions and I deeply admire them.”
Jolie, who co-starred with Pitt in the 2005 film “Mr. & Mrs. Smith,” is a goodwill ambassador for the U.N. High Commission for Refugees.
Jennifer Delaney, U.S. director for Global Action for Children, expressed her thanks for the gift from the Jolie-Pitt Foundation.
“Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt not only care, but more important, are taking concrete action to address the fact that there will be 20 million children orphaned by AIDS by 2010, and millions more orphaned by tuberculosis, malaria and conflict or whose parents are sick and dying,” she said.
Delaney said the vast majority of these children are in the care of extended families and communities that need support to overcome the ravages of HIV/AIDS and poverty.

Karma is right.
She looks really pretty and natural. Barely any make up on. But I think it’s time for her to rest and just be. She’s wearing herself out trying to be everything to everyone. It’s really hard being wife, mother, actress, activist, & philanthropist. I do think she is trying to distract herself from the grief of the loss of her mother and doing too many things at once. Almost like she herself is running out of time.
