Angelina Jolie @ Global Action for Children

Angelina Jolie announces the establishment of Global Action for Children (GAC)’s new headquarters in Washington, DC at a news conference held at the National Press Club on Thursday.

Angelina said, “The numbers associated with this problem are staggering. It is overwhelming and the scale of the problem seems to give many an excuse for inaction. In many ways it is better to think of these children one by one — each deserving of our care and attention, each being of equal value, and each being a test of whether justice — or injustice — will prevail.

“I am here to simply ask you to think about orphaned children not as a burden but as a great opportunity. Their education is an investment in our future. … They have had to work very, very hard to survive, but when they are given a chance, they grow strong, stronger than most. … The Lost Boys of Sudan are a great example.”

The GAC is a nonpartisan advocacy organization focused on on increasing funding by $2.5 billion per year by the U.S. government for programs that support orphans and vulnerable children.

ITA, they are looking this photos with the eye of hates and jelous, way to go Angelina, you makes Brad proud of you more and more

It is a bit sad the way that people lash out on each other at this site. If someone says something negative that is their issue. yet the responses make the “fans” no better than the “haters” . The celebrities character’s are defended using insulting tactics in response to the non-fans insults. One would thing we could rise above and see everyone is entitled to an opinion.
Secondly, what does anyone looks have to do with charitable acts?
True, she is looking older (remember, she is only 31-32?) and worn out. But that is her issue. And if the popluation as a collective whole is supposed to learning from her “angelic nature”, name calling really to me does not fit the profile.

I think it is great that they make these efforts to help those that are disadvantaged, but at the same time, lets try to keep it in perspective, that is what humans ought to do, so lets not applaud it so much because we ascribe to the stereotype that because they are rich/famous, it is REALLY great if they do… (because we assume normally most dont)

Anyhow, that is my take.
To each their own.

If only Angie was on American Idol last night. I would have loved to see her, especially in the celeb dance scene.

Thanks JJ. I’m sorry that you are gaining the attention of so many trolls. It is ruining it for a lot of us.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

It’s obvious the same handful of losers bashing here EVERY TIME. These trolls need to be IP BANNED. I’m not talking about deleting posts, i mean a PERMANANT IP BAN so they can’t post here EVER again.

If not, then WE need to take action and ABANDON this blog and move to the FANISTES where trolls can’t post.

It’s really time for Jared to put up or shut up.

BTW - Jared, ever hear the expression “The customers are always right”? Well the majority of your customers are BAMPZS fans, so start banning the trolls!

*****************************************

Jared is never going to ban any of these posters. People here keep responding to them giving them the time of day, which gives him more hits. If people ignored the negativity, it would go away.

Angelina Jolie Launches Global Action for Children, an Advocacy Organization Dedicated to Orphans’ and Children’s Issues

WASHINGTON, April 26 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Angelina Jolie appeared at a press conference today to announce the formal launch of Global Action for Children (GAC). GAC is a nonpartisan advocacy organization focused on increasing funding by $2.5 billion per year by the US government for programs that support orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) and provide free primary school education in developing countries.

GAC was formed in 2003 as a campaign organized by faith-based, nongovernmental and student organizations dedicated to OVC and the communities that care for them. GAC’s unique strength lies in the diversity of its partners and allies and its ability to mobilize a broad range of constituencies to advocate for children. Today’s announcement by Ms. Jolie marks the establishment of GAC’s new headquarters in Washington, DC, and formalization of the organization and staffing.

The press conference followed meetings between Ms. Jolie and GAC Executive Director Jennifer Delaney and senior officials at the U.S. Department of State to discuss policies and funding that will support OVC programs and access to education.

Ms. Jolie said, “The numbers associated with this problem are staggering. It is overwhelming and the scale of the problem seems to give many an excuse for inaction. In many ways it is better to think of these children one by one — each deserving of our care and attention, each being of equal value, and each being a test of whether justice — or injustice — will prevail.”

Speakers joining Ms. Jolie and Ms. Delaney at the press conference included Rev. Mpho Tutu, Chairperson of the Global AIDS Alliance Board, and director of the Tutu Institute; Gene Sperling, Director of the Center on Universal Education at the Council on Foreign Relations; Kay Warren, Executive Director of Saddleback Church’s HIV/AIDS Initiative, and wife of Pastor Rick Warren.

Jennifer Delaney, Executive Director of GAC added, “Angelina Jolie is a global leader on children issues. We are thrilled to have her as the honorary chairperson of the GAC Board. Her support of GAC helps us to ensure that orphans and vulnerable children in developing countries and the communities that care for them get the support they need.”

Why are people acknowledging posters you’re fully aware are here for no other purpsoe than to bait and pull you into not only empty arguments, but who’s goal is to take your attention away from the subject of this thread.

Is it that hard to ignore them and use the time constructively? Why not focus on the positive of this news instead of that seemingly never ending silliness some of you help perpetuate by engaging those who want to disrupt? Don’t you get it by now that their jealousy, envy, and the fact that nothing has panned out for them where predictions of Angelina & Brad’s end has panned out, on top of feelings of guilt that they do nothing to assist anyone with anything, and it kills them that Angelina never stops doing for others.

Please don’t help sully up this great news. Let those obviously here on that mission work harder to that end.

Brava Angie!!!!

Keeping on fighting the good fight. I am proud to be your fan and admire you for your contribution to the world as a whole.

We all know when you are doing something right there will be evil trying to bring you down.

I will never understand why people flock to something positive only to try and find fault in it. My gawd you people are truly unhappy. “She’s too thin, too glassy eyed, too dull, too ugly, too something, not happy, not healthy. If any of you are the reverse of any of these things then get up and do what she is doing. If as you say she is any of these things then she should be applauded for continuing to do what she believes in.

Who doesn’t think that if it weren’t for Angelina, Oprah, Brad and Bono last nights American Idol would have happened? Did Ryan Seacrest even know where Africa was located? Speaking of photo ops wasn’t it convenient that Simon and Ryan just happen to be there to take that woman to hospital where she died. Had that been AJ/BP haters around the world would have yelled it was rigged and she was exploiting that poor woman. I haven’t heard any outcries. I am happy that they raised the money, but without AJ/BP, Oprah, and Bono some of these things would not be happening. That is why she is on Time’s 100 Most Influential Peoples list. She doesn’t have to be first. She just has to be on the list.

I think she looks beautiful, inside and out. Peace.

She looks fab @ 04/26/2007 at 5:24 pm

For the people who say she looks older, go look at stars her age. Like Drew barrymoore(most beautiful woman alive) , charlize theron and Kate winslet to name a few. I don’t feel like searching and pulling out pics, but they’re all the same age and aging the same.

we are all aging so get used to it.

See her like this breaks my heart, I hope she gets better.

is not easy ignoring some of the negative comments,i know that anyone was talking smack about my family members or friends i will be ready to defend them.is very easy if you donot like them you should not have anything to do with them.i saw AT TMZ THAT A LADY WAS TRYING TO HARM SANDRA BULLOCKS HUSBAND,this is how the haters are, it will start from hatfeul comment to stalking and finnally wanting to cause harm.there are many mentally unstable people that need to be institutionalized, some of the haters belong to these institution

I apologize. I didn’t follow my own advice about responding to the haters. Peace. :)

Original jpf,

Hola, and welcome back.

What happened to those ’so called fans’ who were on th old thread when the new thread was announced. They(it) left in concert.

i hope angie and brad keep on doing the good that they started, ignore their critics, love each othe and their children

That wasn’t a question for you Ojpf. I’m wondering aloud. 2 separate observations.

the real tita @ 04/26/2007 at 5:31 pm

She looks like she’d been up late and just in need of more sleep plus a good breakfast, that is all. Not a lot of makeup on but she is still gorgeous. Angie’s trying to look really simple and not glam probably because she wants to be taken seriously as an activist and not as a HW star.

#s: 1,8,10,13,15,18,24,26,29 = all negative comments and it’s only the first page. Wow, can’t wait to find more faults on the next two or three.

Thank you, thank you jpf and ICAM.

I rather express my admiration for what Angie is doing instead of responding to haters with an agenda. Some people are doners and some are just whiners, which we all know which category haters fit in.

Rock on Angie!!!!
