Angelina Jolie announces the establishment of Global Action for Children (GAC)’s new headquarters in Washington, DC at a news conference held at the National Press Club on Thursday.
Angelina said, “The numbers associated with this problem are staggering. It is overwhelming and the scale of the problem seems to give many an excuse for inaction. In many ways it is better to think of these children one by one — each deserving of our care and attention, each being of equal value, and each being a test of whether justice — or injustice — will prevail.
“I am here to simply ask you to think about orphaned children not as a burden but as a great opportunity. Their education is an investment in our future. … They have had to work very, very hard to survive, but when they are given a chance, they grow strong, stronger than most. … The Lost Boys of Sudan are a great example.”
The GAC is a nonpartisan advocacy organization focused on on increasing funding by $2.5 billion per year by the U.S. government for programs that support orphans and vulnerable children.

If I remember correctly wasn’t Angie on the cover of this issue last year for Most Beautiful People?
I will never understand why people flock to something positive only to try and find fault in it. My gawd you people are truly unhappy. “She’s too thin, too glassy eyed, too dull, too ugly, too something, not happy, not healthy. If any of you are the reverse of any of these things then get up and do what she is doing. If as you say she is any of these things then she should be applauded for continuing to do what she believes in.
Who doesn’t think that if it weren’t for Angelina, Oprah, Brad and Bono last nights American Idol would have happened? Did Ryan Seacrest even know where Africa was located? Speaking of photo ops wasn’t it convenient that Simon and Ryan just happen to be there to take that woman to hospital where she died. Had that been AJ/BP haters around the world would have yelled it was rigged and she was exploiting that poor woman. I haven’t heard any outcries. I am happy that they raised the money, but without AJ/BP, Oprah, and Bono some of these things would not be happening. That is why she is on Time’s 100 Most Influential Peoples list. She doesn’t have to be first. She just has to be on the list.

I guess it would be too much trouble if people actually took the time and read about this organization rather than focusing on someone looks. However, AJ is a beautiful woman who is raising 4 children, keeping a man happy and still doing her charity work. We should all be so lucky. Even in her “tired” days, she is still simply stunning. It so simple to critique on a blog, much harder to go out there and make a difference and effect change. Best wishes to BAMPZS.

Well said - She showed up to focus on efforts to help children. It wasn’t a photo shoot where she had someone to do her hair, do her makeup, adjust the lighting, retouch the photos, etc. Let’s give her an effing break ! She is a HARD working mother of 4 children, involved in many, many projects. Anyone ever had four children under the age of 5? For the love of God, she may have a tired looking day. Her message is more important than her looks, when she is at a luncheon trying to effect changes for people less fortunate than all of us.
I should look that good on my best day! Alot of insecure people trying their best to make a statement today!
Angelina makes me proud to be a fan of hers.

Angelina looks stunning as always. She is truly an admirable woman for all the work she does on behalf of poverty-stricken children.
I personally thinks she is a bit small,but she has been small before. She doesn’t look bad just TIRED. I know she has to be. She has been the same size that she is now for several months each photo taken of her is different. In some she looks fine and in some she looks tired I guess it depends on the day. Brad is smaller also and looks tired. Maybe they need to hire help who knows. Maybe she will gain some of her weight back before she begins to shoot her next role. IMHO she will have to, to play an assassin. Maybe she’s starting to gain, it is a slow process but it could not be easy. She has had to do this time and time again for her TR roles. Each time because she was smaller and had to train to add muscle tone. From 2003-2005 she was heavier and she looked so vuluptuous and sexy. Noone know the reason for her weight loss, but she does look healthy. Just look at Nicole R she has put on some weight and she looks better. I’m not comparing her to Angie but that’s an eg. I think she is happy, just worn and tired from daily life with 4 children and all the **** that comes with fame. After all she could still be dealing with her moms death. I just hope that’s not the reason and she realizes that her mom is at peace and in a better place and doesn’t have to suffer anymore. She is a wonderful person and I wish her and her family much luck and God bless

So many people “talk” about the plight of children in this world Angie is proactive! She does her thing! She and Brad have both said they can’t imagine what Princess Z’s life would have been like if not adopted. That beautiful little girl most likely wouldn’t have survived! There are so many more like Z in many different countries.
I just love the very first picture of her. She looks so thoughtfully serene. She just seems so natural and at peace. There isn’t a line or wrinkle in her face. Her eyes are bright and clear. No make up to hide flaws, just Angie. What you see is what you get. You have to love her straight forwardness. She is open and honest in the way she looks and presents herself. Love it. I can’t wait to see her in something hot on the red carpet. Wonder if Brad went to Washington with her?
Way to go Angie, you are such an inspiration. May God always protect you and your beautiful family.

I don’t think there is anything untoward about her looks at all. Certainly she could use a few pounds, but her brother did state recently that she is still in mourning over her mother — hence, her appetite has waned. Could be she’s a tad weary given her familiy obligations, work life, etc. And yet, she still has time to take an active role in the causes she supports. She is a beauty as far as I’m concerned. Deal with it, folks. I believe she is not disingenuous where her charity work is concerned.

Thanks for the tibit from Fox News. Men generally give a more honest reaction to a beautiful woman than women. Sometimes we can be our own worst enemies. Too many times insecure women want to put down a beautiful, strong woman who is trying to do good. Some women just got to nag about everything.
The eyes are the windows of the soul. Angelina has beautiful eyes because her soul is beautiful.
