Angelina Jolie @ Global Action for Children
Angelina Jolie announces the establishment of Global Action for Children (GAC)’s new headquarters in Washington, DC at a news conference held at the National Press Club on Thursday.
Angelina said, “The numbers associated with this problem are staggering. It is overwhelming and the scale of the problem seems to give many an excuse for inaction. In many ways it is better to think of these children one by one — each deserving of our care and attention, each being of equal value, and each being a test of whether justice — or injustice — will prevail.
“I am here to simply ask you to think about orphaned children not as a burden but as a great opportunity. Their education is an investment in our future. … They have had to work very, very hard to survive, but when they are given a chance, they grow strong, stronger than most. … The Lost Boys of Sudan are a great example.”
The GAC is a nonpartisan advocacy organization focused on on increasing funding by $2.5 billion per year by the U.S. government for programs that support orphans and vulnerable children.

This subject of aiding the world’s orphans is very near and dear to her heart. I can see how she would get a little emotional about it. She is also a mother. When you become a mom, all children of the world become your children. She is a forever changed person for that. I admire her efforts to help the needy, especially the innocent children of the world, so very much. Good job Angelina!
See?? when “one” hater STOP posting her venom in here; coincidentally ALL the negatives posts stop!! Yeah, ALL the negative posts stop; because it’s the same f*cking hater posting over and over again this stupid messages!!
Haters are so transparents, STUPID and PATHETIC!!
Why can’t I post? It is stuck at 156, what is the problem? Too many trying to post? Server over load?

Now this, is a perfect example of why soooooooooo many women ***** about Angie. ‘Cause they know that alot of people (both men and women) react to Angie in the same way this guy did. Isn’t it kind of funny and kind of ironic that to this guy she is and I quote again “unbelievably attractive when all the haters have been posting on this thread how ‘bad’ she looks?
Sheri- Yeah, I think her eyes look great. I am doing fine, busy but fine. How about urself?
i’m startin to worry about her weight, you guys have to admit she is thinner than usual… she needs to gain about 10 lbs, the close up shots of her make her look much older than what she is…she is only in her early 30’s and she looks looks like she is in her 40’s, still pretty, but when you get that thin and have no fat, it makes you look older than what you are… just a comparison, but halle berry is in her 40’s and she looks younger than AJ, i know they have different genetics and all, but you guys get my point…please gain some weight, maybe doing another tomb raider movie will help

years ago they did a study, they had professional athletes do everything a toddler did for 2 hrs. Know what happened? The athletes couldn’t keep up! Angie is chasing 4 children under the age of 6. She is a very hands on mother. She isn’t sick, actually I think she looks damn good. Also please remember she is doing her St John campaign. The still camera puts on weight. Angie started out as a model, she knows what she needs to do, and as everyone saw she eats healthy!
The press reports are coming in.
Angelina Jolie Visits Washington
WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA) — If there is anyone who can help bring attention to a cause it’s Angelina Jolie. Her mere presence brings throngs of cameras and reporters to a press conference that may not otherwise receive such coverage.
But she was at the National Press Club in Washington Thursday asking the federal government to support a cause that is dear to her heart.
“I am here to ask you to think about orphan children, not as a burden, but that their education is an investment in our future,” said Jolie.
Having traveled to over 25 refugee camps throughout the developing world, Jolie has become an ambassador for children, especially those orphaned because of AIDS.
Sharing a panel with Rev. Mpho Tutu, the daughter of Bishop Desmond Tutu, Jolie added her name and celebrity status to Global Action for Children, an organization that will lobby the U.S. for an additional $2.5 billion to support orphans and children in developing countries.
It’s estimated 20 million children throughout the world will have lost their parents to aids by the year 2010. Jolie and Brad Pitt have adopted 3, now she works to help those she can’t take home.
Angelina Jolie Advocated Action In Washington, D.C.
A professional and elegant Angelina Jolie made an appearance at Washington’s National Press Club this afternoon to announce the formal launch of Global Action for Children, an advocacy organization dedicated to orphans’ and children’s issues.
Jolie, dressed in a conservative gray suit, looked stunning, reports our own Cindy Clark, as the actress spoke about the issue closest to her heart. “This is a happy day because it’s not often enough children are represented in this town,” she said. “Their education and well being is an investment in our future.” The organization is focused on increasing government funding by $2.5 billion per year for programs that support orphans and vulnerable children and provide free primary school education in developing countries.
When asked about a possible run for a formal elected position, Jolie looked amused and said, “I surely don’t think anybody here wants that,” and that her focus remains “in the field.” Jolie, who has three adopted children with partner Brad Pitt, said “I feel very fortunate to have orphan children in my home.”
Angelina Jolie has formally asked a Santa Monica court to change her newly adopted son’s name to Pax Thien Jolie-Pitt.
Her request to add partner Brad Pitt’s surname came in an April 16 filing in Superior Court.
Pax, 3, was adopted from a Vietnamese orphanage in March, joining Pitt and Jolie’s three other children, Maddox, 5, Zahara, 2, and Shiloh, 10 months.
Because Vietnamese law makes it difficult for unmarried couples to adopt, Jolie applied solo, and the boy’s name became Pax Thien Jolie.
In January 2006, after Jolie made a similar request in the same court, her other adopted children, Maddox and Zahara, were officially

182/Meli - I love that picture! Thank you for posting.
She always make me proud to be one of her biggest fans! Beautiful, inside and out!
BTW, I’m sure lena must be quite a stunner with the extensive critique being posted above.
More power to GAC with her as Honorary GAC Board. She is shining with her soul. Her beauty comes from her spiritual strength and sincerity. God bless you, Angie !
Jolie Urges U.S. to Boost Aid to Orphans
WASHINGTON — Angelina Jolie, helping an orphans advocacy group establish its headquarters in the nation’s capital, pushed Thursday for more U.S. aid for education in developing countries.
“This is a happy day because it is not often enough that these children are represented in this town,” Jolie said to a room crowded with cameras and reporters.
Jolie appeared with four others to open the Washington headquarters of Global Action for Children, a nonpartisan advocacy group formed in 2003.
The group, supported by a collection of charities, religious groups and nongovernmental organizations, wants the Bush administration to commit an additional $2.5 billion a year to education and to aiding orphans in developing countries.
“The crisis has far outpaced the funding,” said Jennifer Delaney, the group’s executive director.
Jolie said orphan children sometimes beat the odds and survive but often are enslaved, resort to prostitution or are forced to become child soldiers. She said vulnerable children could be recruited to terrorist organizations.
“Our government has the power to choose which path these children are going to take,” Jolie told reporters at the National Press Club. “We know the consequences of our inaction.”
Jolie has adopted three orphan children, but said any help that people in the U.S. can offer is better than nothing. “The best solution for anyone who is abandoned or displaced is to be home (in their own countries),” Jolie said. “I would support that first and foremost.”
Jolie demurred when asked if her cause might be better served if she became more political or ran for elective office. “I certainly don’t think anybody wants that,” she said, laughing.
