Maybe this site is having problems because people find it hard to post less than a two page comment. Seriously, is that necessary? Can’t anyone say what they have to say in an eight sentence paragraph?

Hi Stranger, lol, brothers grimm eh?? I thought the brothers grimm fairy tales included Cinderella and Tom Thumb and other like that and were pretty uplifting. But I confess, I haven’t read the unedited versions of the brothers grimm.

I have however read the unDisneyfied versions of Hans Christian Anderson and I find him quite grim. I haven’t had the heart to read too many unedited versions to my 5.5 y/o daughter yet. The little matchbox girl, who dies of the cold, the Red Shoes girl who gets her feet chopped off for being vain, the little tin soldier who melts away in the fire while his love burns up. I can’t help thinking that the punishment for vanity shouldn’t be chopping off the feet!!!

The stereo typing of men and women really saddens me. Clearly stereo types are difficult to shake off, even in the birth place of feminism – America, even 50 years after the start of feminism.

My mother was a teacher. I was old enough to remember when she received equal pay for equal work, in the 1970s. Up till then, it had never occurred to me that women were paid more than 1/3 less then men for doing exactly the same work. That was the start of my being conscious of feminism.

When I was younger, I thought of feminism as empowering women only. Angelina is one of those women who represents all the possibilities that a woman can achieve if we aren’t categorized and aren’t subjugated by preconceived notions of what a woman should be or a woman should do. If a woman is allowed to grow as tall as she wants to be, without worrying about affecting the manhood of her man when she towers over him.

But feminism I now think is more than just about the empowerment of women. It is about the empowerment of men. It is about being able to give men choices too. Many men long to get off the rat race, at least for a while. Long to spend time with their families. Long to write a book, build their home from scratch with mud bricks, start a production company to make movies which are meaningful to him, rather than just be a cog in the wheel of an industry or company. Empowering women gives men these choices too.

It is matter of pride to me that my ability to provide financially for my family is equal or perhaps better than my husbands. Should he wish to quit work, he can (provided he gives me some notice!!). And he has told me how nice it is to know he can quit. This gives him choices and he likes the choices.

So, after 50 years or so of feminism, it saddens me to read tabs and people, jeer at a man, any man, who might feel he wants to get off the rat race to spend time with his family. It really is the case of, see how far I have climbed, look how high is the mountain.

ANGELINA JOLIE hit movie bosses with a string of demands — to keep lover BRAD PITT happy while she makes her new film.
He will get free helicopter lessons in Prague as she shoots an action flick in the Czech Republic next month.
Brad, 43, is being given a mansion with a helipad — and his prized Bugatti car is being shipped in.
Angelina, 31, told bosses of Wanted she would only replace HALLE BERRY if her demands were met.
A source said: “These two can have whatever they want — and they and the film company know it.”

Can someone please explain to me why these magazines can say these things? Actually quoting someone(although no name, just quotation marks around the quotes)with claims that he is calling his x, saying “I made a mistake.” blah blah… it is time for them to do something, as others are and have done, legally…

It’s this type of post that makes it worthwhile coming back to this site. There are so many good posts on here sometimes that could and should inspire intelligent thought and discussion. But we allow ourselves to become side track by silly one dimensional, asinine, and down right ignorant comments that we lose why we are really here. Not to worship at an alter, but to show that we can appreciate a woman who has changed and altered her life in such a way as to be an inspiration to all of us. And a man who had the courage to leave unhappiness to try and obtain and do what his heart of hearts really wanted to do. Thank you lylian, well said. Peace.

On the Drudgereport, they are interviewing a Hollywood reporter and again the buzz, according to Drudge and Nikke Finke is that Angelina is a knockout, going where she’s never gone before.

On a less glorious note, they mentioned that AMH is a very, very small film (perfect for the Cannes Film Festival) that has no prayer of box office domestically and might do just ok internationally. She mentioned that Michael Moore’s documentary about the US healthcare system called “Sicko” will be well recieved overseas.

Ms. Fike predicted thought that this summer movie season will be the biggest in the history of film. The reason? all the familiar films will be back will “threequels”. Pirates 3, Oceans 13, Spiderman 3, Harry Potter, Rush Hour 3, Die Hard, 4…..

Thanks :D and I agree this summer will be amazing for the Box Office. I bet new records will be broken between Spiderman, Sherk and Pirates and if Transformers lives to the hype it’s going to be a tight battle.
