Angelina Jolie & Marianne Pearl: Worst People to Plan a Playdate
Marianne Pearl, the wife of the slain Wall Street Journal journalist Daniel Pearl, and Angelina Jolie (she plays her in the upcoming film A Mighty Heart) sits down with Glamour editor-in-chief Cindi Leive for an interview at Angelina’s home. Here are some fun excerpts:
CINDI LEIVE: So Mariane, you started to tell me the story of how you guys initially met, which to my surprise had absolutely nothing to do with A Mighty Heart.
MARIANE PEARL: One day a few years ago, I was alone in New York with Adam, still having a rough time [after Danny’s death]. I read an interview with Angie in a magazine, about her and Maddox and her life as a single mom. And I thought, this woman could be my friend…. I’d never experienced anything like that before in my life. It was something in her tone, in the answers that she gave. I felt also that Maddox and Adam [then both about three] could be good friends. So I sent her a note saying, do you want to have a playdate?
ANGELINA JOLIE: And I, on the other side of it, had been aware of you through the time that everything went down. I remember being amazed by your courage and your grace…. And when I got the note, I was thrilled. Later I realized that Mariane and I are the two worst people to plan a playdate in the history of playdates.
CL: Why?
AJ: Because she hates the phone as much as I do. So it almost didn’t happen! But when it finally did, I remember being really nervous, thinking, she’s such an intelligent European woman—what are we going to do together? So we went to this serious, European, existential play—it seemed like the right thing [and it was supposed to be OK for kids]. But Adam and Mad got antsy, and finally halfway through, to each other’s relief, we were both like, do you want to get out of here? And we ran out and went back to Mariane’s place….
MP: We cooked pasta; it was actually good. And then we started talking about changing the world…
AJ: …and about all the things we were passionate about. Her instincts were right—we did have so much in common. And all the kids are great friends now. Zahara is madly in love with Adam.

I agree with all of you: Angie is in real life a shy person, very tender and vulnerable. That’s part of her glamour:she seems such a strong and determinated woman, the perfect target of stupid criticisms but of course, she is sensitive and true.

And it is ALWAYS SOMEONE ELSE who is lying…never Jen Jen to these fanistons. Sorry, but I will take the word of Brad and Angie, two people who are well known for their honesty and Brad’s rep who has shown to be an upfront and honest person, and especially MARIANNE PEARL HERSELF, over the words of that former sitcom hack. Aniston is famous for implying things that are not true, and her rep is not known for being completely truthful.
OT But really interesting!

Psycological Evaluation
OMG, those behaviors you mention fitted Jennifer Aniston completely !
——————————————————————————————
Thanks for the great evaluation, fits JA perfectly. Couldn’t agree more. Just goes to show what strong delusions Maniston’s fans live under, and cannot see that the psychological evaluation they bring here, fits their idol like a glove. How ironic!
Wow, I can’t wait to read more of this article, and see the film, of course. It makes a lot of sense for these two to be good friends, I can see why they would have a lot in common.
I do find it silly though, how some seem surprised that Angelina has friends! Just because she doesnt talk about them, or talk about having sleepovers and goddess circles doesnt mean she doesnt. I would imagine most of her friends are not in this business, like her friend, Dr. Jane Aronson. Aronson is a well respected pediatrician who helps orphans and has been referred to as a force of nature type.
I think of Angie as a force of nature as well as Marianne Pearl.
BTW, does ANYONE know who Cate Blanchett’s girlfriends are? And could anyone tell me why we should even care?
Aniston and Pitt, along with Brad Grey, have formed a production company, Plan B, and they hope to make a film together about Daniel Pearl, the Wall Street Journal reporter who was murdered in Pakistan. Pearl’s wife, Mariane, initially refused to sell the rights to her book, A Mighty Heart: The Brave Life and Death of My Husband Danny Pearl, but changed her mind after meeting with the couple. “She is one of the most inspiring and courageous women I’ve met in a long time,” says Aniston. “And if the film is something that seems worthy of the story that she told, if it’s done in the right way, then it will be made. That was sort of the deal that we all set with one another, as well as with her, because it’s such delicate subject matter.”
Aniston, who says she would love to play a purely dramatic role someday (”I can see it”), is tentative when I ask her about playing Mariane Pearl. “If it works,” she says, “I would love to think that I could, but I reserve the right not to. We’ll have to see when it happens. I’m just excited about nurturing it.”
When I interviewed Aniston a year and a half ago, she worried out loud about needing to be better educated about current world events. Taking on the Pearl film would appear to be part of her making good on a promise to herself. She and Pitt have also attended some meetings of One Voice, an organization dedicated to bringing peace to the Middle East that was started by a Jewish-American businessman. The press has been typically cynical about the idea of a Hollywood couple’s being interested in anything besides show business or themselves. “We’re not going to Israel,” says Aniston, denying one report. “I’m hesitant about getting into a political discussion because I’m educating myself at the same time and it’s so easy to take that and go, ‘Oh, they’re going to Israel,’ and all of a sudden you’re in the cross fire.”

Um, ok? Not sure what the point of posting this is. Tells us nothing new. And leaves out the part that even if Jen was with Brad when he met with Pearl, the reason Brad got the movie rights was because HE had read the book.
Aniston may have been awed by meeting Marianne, who wouldnt be? But she and Brad were NEVER attached to this role in an acting capacity… and after Aniston had nothing to do with this project after the divorce.
TIME TO MOVE ON…
It’s funny the way Jennifer Aniston fans work. Jennifer Aniston refuses to stand up for herself so they take up the “fight” for her. That’s pretty damn sad don’t ya think? To never fight your own battles, to always let someone walk all over you and have others, people that do not know you, pitty you and feel the need to fight all your empty battles for you? Is that how she opporates? If so she has won because I truley finally pitty this woman.
1. She wants a role, 2.she wants a film producing credit, 3.she wants a family, 4.she wants Brad Pitt as a husband, she wants EVERYTHING and yet is completely UNWILLING or UNABLE to go and get it. Pretty pathetic and sad all at once.
110 million in the bank and she willingly lets her PR manager and her fans portray her as the ETERNAL VICTIM. Or PROFESSIONAL VICTIM as one journalist called her.
Andro- are you still here?
lol you don’t see X denying the story about her being in the Mighty Heart movie originally like she does all the other worthless rumors. Why because she likes people feeling bad for her, and resenting Brad and Angie.. Poor X, Brad left Her and took Her movie and gave it to his new love.. pfft…pathetic.
A note on the house, I think it is the Los Feliz house too. It is similar in design as the Malibu house but it isn’t that house. I had always read that the Los Feliz house is Craftman’s style and this house clearly isn’t so if anyone knows the story bahind the compound I would love to know. Is it 3 separate houses or did he join them? Craftsman is popular in CA but it doesn’t look like this and the overhead shots I have seen of teh LF house seem to be that style.

=====================================================
This is Aniston’s version.
Read Brad Pitt ’s (the true owner of and moving force behind Plan B) take on AMH. He and Aniston just acquired it, they were never supposed to be in it. Aniston’s take was she was hedging on it, lying about it in other words, hoping her then husband would be stupid enough to give the role to her. Unfortunately for her, her ex-husband is a sound business man, and wouldn’t even dream of giving her a role so obviously unsuited for her.
And what’s all of this fuss about AMH? Angelina (a white woman) cannot play the role and Aniston (another white woman) could? You guys are looking for anything and everything to prop up Aniston and bring down Angelina. WELL, IT AIN’T HAPPENING!!!
Hey people, I have a request.
Can we please not pollute this thread with talk of Brad’s ex? If her fans haven’t moved on, then so be it, but can we please move on?
Please.
Please.
Please.
Please.
MAMS- I hear you there and ITA. Let’s try for another great day here.

Thank you for posting that article and demonstrating why ___ was never considered for the part.
If Plan B wanted to make a film starring Miss Me… Me…, acquire the rights to the Mariah Carey story.

this was all because of Brad and his interests….once they were divorced Jen no longer seemed very interested in world events. She has made jokes about celebs trying to “save the world”.
+++++++

Another example of how she is afraid to do anything if it makes her look bad, even if she might be helping others by doing it. Very Sad.
Request GRANTED!!!
Except for a few paid posters, I am still enjoying all the good publicity we are coming our way from the media.
The trolls are fishing DON’T BITE!
MAMS:
I was going to say the same thing myself. Can we focus instead on these two amazing, intelligent, caring women and forget about other women who are not?
