OlderAngelina Jolie & Marianne Pearl: Worst People to Plan a Playdate
Marianne Pearl, the wife of the slain Wall Street Journal journalist Daniel Pearl, and Angelina Jolie (she plays her in the upcoming film A Mighty Heart) sits down with Glamour editor-in-chief Cindi Leive for an interview at Angelina’s home. Here are some fun excerpts:
CINDI LEIVE: So Mariane, you started to tell me the story of how you guys initially met, which to my surprise had absolutely nothing to do with A Mighty Heart.
MARIANE PEARL: One day a few years ago, I was alone in New York with Adam, still having a rough time [after Danny’s death]. I read an interview with Angie in a magazine, about her and Maddox and her life as a single mom. And I thought, this woman could be my friend…. I’d never experienced anything like that before in my life. It was something in her tone, in the answers that she gave. I felt also that Maddox and Adam [then both about three] could be good friends. So I sent her a note saying, do you want to have a playdate?
ANGELINA JOLIE: And I, on the other side of it, had been aware of you through the time that everything went down. I remember being amazed by your courage and your grace…. And when I got the note, I was thrilled. Later I realized that Mariane and I are the two worst people to plan a playdate in the history of playdates.
CL: Why?
AJ: Because she hates the phone as much as I do. So it almost didn’t happen! But when it finally did, I remember being really nervous, thinking, she’s such an intelligent European woman—what are we going to do together? So we went to this serious, European, existential play—it seemed like the right thing [and it was supposed to be OK for kids]. But Adam and Mad got antsy, and finally halfway through, to each other’s relief, we were both like, do you want to get out of here? And we ran out and went back to Mariane’s place….
MP: We cooked pasta; it was actually good. And then we started talking about changing the world…
AJ: …and about all the things we were passionate about. Her instincts were right—we did have so much in common. And all the kids are great friends now. Zahara is madly in love with Adam.

Naturally, there will be lip synching. After all, she’s no Jamie Foxx.
And naturally, there would be no arguments about a black actress being denied the opportunity to portray Carey; she barely mentions the fact that her father is black, unless there is another opportunity to throw another pity party for herself, unless it’s the time of year to remind people of her ’street cred’… usually, that’s when an album is about to be released.
Blonde hair, tight clothes, showcasing the gams, winning polls about how fantastic one’s body is, receiving the pampering reserved for the privileged, and subjecting everyone to the lamentations of the poor little caged bird- marrying and being loved by a powerful man, then blaming him for the lack of fulfillment and satisfaction… need I go on?

Mr & Ms Smith is on HBO now. It is so silly, but I watch this movie when it is on TV even though I have the DVD.

You’re not the only one. I’ve done that before. Here’s something really nutty - I even rented it one night when I saw it was on the pay per view at the hotel, and this is after seeing it in the theaters 4 times, AND buying the DVD. I just wanted to see them while on vacay. Hahahaha!
I now have MAMS on my Ipod, so I can get my fix wherever. lol

I don’t see anything wrong if Angie had decided to stay in NYC until Tuesday if she wanted to though, she has her reasons for doing what she does. Whether she left saturday, sunday, monday, tuesday, whenever…it doesn’t really matter. She will always go home to Brad and her children.

Maybe I’m rambling, but doesn’t it seem that Brad and Angie are coming full circle? I mean, both were in Cannes two-three years ago, albeit separately —- and now they’re going back together as a couple.

Oh My GAWD….I didn’t know Brad was on that plane with Angelina (see link) in Italy. ((((WOW))) I just found this!
I remember seeing these pics of her in that hat when she was in Italy - and thinking never has a woman looked more gorgeous (there’s another shot of her in this hat that is not to be believed and that I can’t locate right now)….but I have never seen THIS shot of Brad sitting directly across from her, and look! little Mad was along as well I think (that’s his seat I think)…whoa….swoon….what a lovely plane ride that must have been….

#327: No, your Aniston didn’t actually lie but once again has issued one of those hopeful vague statements that she’s famous for. MP gave the go ahead after meeting the couple, yes. But it was Brad reading the book that sealed the deal, not the presence of Aniston. Brad probably told her they were going to make it into a film but weren’t planning on starring in it.
[Of course, Aniston, ever confident that she is one versatile actress doesn't see why not. She thinks she can tackle any role even if doesn't suit her personality or is beyond her capabilities. Who cares if the movie tanks? After all (she has it down pat by now) she could always point the blame on somebody else.]

It was not a plane ride it was a limo ride after the dinner pictures taken at a restaurant in Italy with all of the producers and director. They are wearing the same clothes. I do like the idea of a long plane ride as well.

There are pics of angie playing with mad at Souljolie but I don’t know about Brad with Mad.
I don’t remember any pictures of Brad and Maddox on MAMS set. The only ones I have are with Angie and Mad.

This may seem hateful, but I’m glad that there weren’t any pics of Brad and Maddox on the MAMS set.
If there were, those pics would have accompanied stories about Maddox ‘luring’ Brad away– after the tabs stopped believing that something physical happened between Brad and Angelina; and when the shock value of an ‘emotional affair’ wore off.
