OlderAngelina Jolie & Marianne Pearl: Worst People to Plan a Playdate
Marianne Pearl, the wife of the slain Wall Street Journal journalist Daniel Pearl, and Angelina Jolie (she plays her in the upcoming film A Mighty Heart) sits down with Glamour editor-in-chief Cindi Leive for an interview at Angelina’s home. Here are some fun excerpts:
CINDI LEIVE: So Mariane, you started to tell me the story of how you guys initially met, which to my surprise had absolutely nothing to do with A Mighty Heart.
MARIANE PEARL: One day a few years ago, I was alone in New York with Adam, still having a rough time [after Danny’s death]. I read an interview with Angie in a magazine, about her and Maddox and her life as a single mom. And I thought, this woman could be my friend…. I’d never experienced anything like that before in my life. It was something in her tone, in the answers that she gave. I felt also that Maddox and Adam [then both about three] could be good friends. So I sent her a note saying, do you want to have a playdate?
ANGELINA JOLIE: And I, on the other side of it, had been aware of you through the time that everything went down. I remember being amazed by your courage and your grace…. And when I got the note, I was thrilled. Later I realized that Mariane and I are the two worst people to plan a playdate in the history of playdates.
CL: Why?
AJ: Because she hates the phone as much as I do. So it almost didn’t happen! But when it finally did, I remember being really nervous, thinking, she’s such an intelligent European woman—what are we going to do together? So we went to this serious, European, existential play—it seemed like the right thing [and it was supposed to be OK for kids]. But Adam and Mad got antsy, and finally halfway through, to each other’s relief, we were both like, do you want to get out of here? And we ran out and went back to Mariane’s place….
MP: We cooked pasta; it was actually good. And then we started talking about changing the world…
AJ: …and about all the things we were passionate about. Her instincts were right—we did have so much in common. And all the kids are great friends now. Zahara is madly in love with Adam.

Honestly, can you imagine the X with MP’s dark curly locks and with it up? I can’t picture it myself especially paired with dark brown contacts and the colorful wardrobe.
Regarding AJ dancing the Samba, I would have loved to see a video of that one. (Does anybody know what kind of dance Mondo Bongo was? Was it a Rhumba?) She needs some joy in her life once in a while especially with all the grieving intrigue. I’m glad she had a night out of fun with the same friends who helped her out with her project. It’s not as if she sought out people just so she could play hookey.
And as for guys looking at her, what do you expect? The woman is now a legend! If Brad can still look at her in awe during unguarded moments (and the guy lives with her), why can’t Wyclef or any other male? Sometimes you can gawk at somebody without knowing it so INBD! She’s got that type of allure that affects even women.

Is it just me, or has people gone apeshit crazy?
Last year, that magazine, New York something or other, hired those two lookalikes to create a composite of Brad/Angelina and new baby. Then we got weird concept exhibits from Madame Trussaard’s. Then America’s Top Model did a tableau. Now this Bravo show is trying to capitalize on these two?
Seriously, has any couple, in recent years, been subjected to as many weird tributes as Brad and Angelina? None come to my mind.

After all this Daily News “dancing” thing is just plain GOSSIP!!! Witch means it can be 1000% false. After the screening Angie really went to a restaurant along with Holly, James, Ling and Wyclef and she was seen exiting with Wyclef and Martinez where nowhere to be found. Plus the item said that Ethan Howke was also there but Ethan wasn’t even at the screening.

..(but I especially blame Aniston) for perpetuating this myth. Aniston is asked about the project and asked if she would play Marianne(lol) and of course Aniston can’t resist insinuating that she MIGHT actually be considered for the part. It must have been a huge ego boost for her to be asked, so she says she would “LIKE TO THINK THAT I COULD DO THAT, we will have to see when it happens” ( I would like to think I could lose 15 lbs before my sisters wedding next week, but that isnt going to happen either.)
Some of you Brangelina fans are beyond belief/ I can’t see how you come up with the things you do then expect the rest of the world to see your warped logic. For instance, THINK POSITIVE says the Daily News is GOSSIP but then goes on to say where Angelina acutally was….according to who again? Unless you saw Angelina going to eat and not dancing with your own eyes then your information is as mush GOSSIP as the Daily News. And how do you know exactl where Ethan Hawke was? Did you see him somewhere besides the screening, did you read his whereabouts in an online site, tabloid, newspaper? See my point? You, personally, have no idea so you can’t honestly say NO she wasn’t dancing. So what if she was anyway?
IKE, for the love of God, where do you get Aniston insinuating herself being considered for the Marianne part just because she says she likes to think she could that. Maybe she went after it and didn’t get it, maybe she just meant what she said that she would like to do the part if she was offered. Insinuation? Once again the Brangelina fan hypocrisy has reared it’s ugly head. You say “Don’t believe tabloids that say Angelina was out dancing” (God forbid THAT be true her fans are having an attack because they won’t let her be human) but you also say “Do believe tabloids when they say Aniston was going to star in AMH”. So what is it? Only believe what they say about other start but not about Angelina?
Love these two strong, powerful, lovable women. Love Angie and Marianne.
To all the fans: Please do not engage the baiters, haters, jealous posters, etc.
It will only ruin this thread.
These two beautiful women do not deserve to be discussed on the same breath as the other person (you know who). They are not on the same level. Let us enjoy and be grateful to have Angie and Marianne together on this thread.

Both People magazine and Us Weekly had articles with this interview in their sites.
The film will be premiering as part of the Cannes Film Festival on May 21st and the US Premiere is June 18th in New York City. Unless you’re going to Cannes or have powerful friends you’ll be able to see the film on June 22nd when it gets released all around the country.

Sorry NO, but if she had really said or meant those things, she should have stopped the gossip and nasty comments about how Angie STOLE her role. If she and her rep can make comments about other gossip like how she didnt have a nose job or boob job, or isnt dating some camera man or whoever it was…they should have the decency to set the record straight on things like this…
They didnt want to because it was not in Jen’s best interest. That is why I think she is dishonest..(one reason).
#208: piper, I know!! Isn’t it just mindboggling how AJ and BP has now become a byword or a standard? When I see commercials or even some shows, I get this sensation that they are trying to emulate both or either of the two. There are a lot of shows (legitimate and long running) where they always mention their names for comparison on something.
I can’t remember if it was CSI where they went like “well, if somebody can get to Brad’s pajama drawers….” or even in the evening news where this plastic surgeon guy was saying as how men are now 50% of his patients. They either want Jude Law’s or Leo’s nose and Brad’s lips. Whenever they mention somebody sexy or naughty, it’s always Angelina Jolie. She’s always a question on Family Feud for sexiest or name things you know about her, etc.
I feel like I’m in the movie Footloose. When did dancing become a sin. Call me when she’s doing the Lambada with Karl Rove.

I would gladly understood your point if you where actually making a point but you don’t. Did I ever said that I knew where Ethan Hawek was??? No. I simply said that he wasn’t in the screening of the documentary because he wasn’t.
The Daily News has not a slight evidence of their claim to back it up and that is what I said. I’m always sceptical about what I read and especially if it is gossip because I’m not willing to eat up everything they want to feed me as you are obviously doing.
If you would just tried to read my post carefully I said that even if that was the case and Angie danced SO FCUCKING WHAT???? Did you miss that part honey??
