Pitt’s Split Decision
Brad Pitt’s new gunslinger flick, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford is said to have two versions floating around — one from writer-director Andrew Dominik and another from Brad, who produced and starred in the film.
No word from Warner Bros. on which version will be released yet.
Jesse James follows the last heist committed by James (Pitt), and Ford’s (Casey Affleck) devoted and then vengeful relationship with the legendary outlaw.
The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (new movie still above!) opens in theaters on Sept. 21.

This is so exciting……! I can’t wait to watch this movie, and O13….!
Thanks Jared. I can’t wait to see this film. Heard it is going to be very good.
Oh yeah, wasn’t Shiloh conceived while he was making this movie? Or was it while Angie was filming TGS? Just wondering…Love…Love…Love the Jolie-Pitt family.
I hope he gets an Oscar nomination out of this movie. He’s due for one. :-)
No director gets final cut. Ever. Ask Tony Kaye.
“Pitt has had daughter Shiloh Nouvel and completed two other movies, “Ocean’s 13″ and “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.” “Ocean’s” will be in theaters more than three months before ‘Jesse James.’”
Article is here-very very interesting reading

Ed Norton did the same with American History X, but that end bad becsuse the director pull off after Nortor started to weight in the edition process. Nortor wanted the final cut to garantee him an oscar nod (which happend) but his chances went to hell after the whole drama was made public. Tom Cruise did the same with Mission Impossible.
The studio will go with Pitt’s cut they always do the same, they stick with the big movie star and screw the indy director.
THE ASSASSINATION OF JESSE JAMES BY THE COWARD ROBERT FORD 02/01/2007 at 08:23 AM
Guys:
I’ve been meaning to post this for a little while and haven’t had the opportunity,
so here it is. I had the distinct privilege and pleasure of getting a sneak peek at
Andrew Dominik’s film ‘The Assassination of Jesse James by the coward Robert
Ford’ and all I can say is:
Holy Sh*t.
It’s so close to being a full-fledged masterpiece, it literally had me sitting there,
saying things like ‘Where the hell has Casey Affleck been?’ He’s a LOCK for some
sort of major acting nod. Be it Globe, Oscar, something. Nobody comes out of this
movie without viewing that guy in whole other light. Mindblowing. I’m not
bullshi*ting you guys. He’s that good. And Brad Pitt has never been better in
a film. He too, should be lauded for what he accomplishes with that role. The
guy projects a menace I’ve never seen and goes very, VERY deep.
There are moments of still and utter silence between characters as tense and awkward
and terrifying as anything you’ve ever seen. Andrew’s ability to just allow a scene to
develop gradually and let the audience watch and observe without the need
for rampant schisms of rocket propelled editorial breaks is the mark of a true
master. If you saw and loved ‘Chopper’ then I can’t imagine you not falling head
over heels for this flick.
We throw words around like ‘brilliant’ and attach greatness to things that in the
end don’t really deserve that level of praise…This one DOES.
I’m hoping Warner Brothers understands what this film can be and allows Andrew’s
cut to see the light of day. At nearly three hours it’s something of such sublime,
elegaic beauty and vicious intent, that I don’t think we’ll see a film like it for a long
time to come.

Thanks Jared.
Looking forward to seeing The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.
Thanks Jared for the new thread. I can’t wait to see this movie

From the L.A Times
“one from writer-director Andrew Dominik and another from producer and star Pitt, according to a person familiar with the making of the movie. It’s unclear which version of the film will be released”.
It’s Brad version vs. Dominik version.
