Fashion Faceoff: Lanvin Dress
Natalie Portman channels Audrey Hepburn once again (see Harper’s Bazaar November 2006) at the premiere of her romantic anthology film Je T’Aime on Tuesday night at the Paris Theater in New York City.
But instead of wearing Audrey’s iconic little black dress, Natalie wore a modified Lanvin Yves Saint Laurent satin bubble dress from their Spring 2006 line.
To the right, Swedish supermodel Mona Johannesson.
Who wears it best? NATALIE PORTMAN or THE RUNWAY MODEL?
UPDATE: Yves Saint Laurent reps confirm the dress is indeed YSL and not Lanvin.

Why would you even decide to claim she’s anorexic? She’s a petite girl, 5′3″, but there’s nothing about her to suggest she’s actually anorexic. She’s thin, but you don’t see ribs, you don’t see neck tendon. She looks healthy. She’s a vegitarean and she still manages to not look like a ghost.
I’m not going to even start to argue your claim that she’s a terrible actress. I think the awards and nominations speak for themselves. All fans know she’s bad in Star Wars. Who wasn’t? Those don’t count.
Ugly dress period, but it does look better on the model. I don’t think she’s all that and she does not in any way compare to Audrey.
All pics of Natalie must have been taken by someone way taller because her legs look ridiculously short compare to the rest, totally unflattering. The dress in not great and looks much better on the model. But Natalie has a beautiful face.

The wide high-contrast belt makes Natalie look shorter. The dress would look a lot better on her if the belt was the same color as the dress.
I don’t really like the dress, but it looks good on both girls! I love Natalie and Mona! :)
Natalie Portman is prob. the most beautiful woman ever…and i don’t know why people think she is such a horrible actress….i mean she is not the best actress ever, but she is not bad by any means..come on.
Natalie’s dress is actually a YVES SAINT LAURENT, NOT LANVIN. -sorry.
I like Natalie’s face and make-up but the dress is horrible, even in the model!
Natalie looks awful. The waistband is too big, and she’s not leggy enough to wear that dress. THe model wins, hands down. And it’s akward that it ends right above the knees on poor Nat.

As a guy, I’ve always though Audrey Hepburn was extremely overrated. Couldn’t act, annoying breathy-voice- even most of her costars didn’t like her. She was a sweet woman who did good deeds but she was hardly perfect.
Natalie is gorgeous and she looks really stylish and classy. The smoky eye makeup thing is sexy as hell. She’s the best actress of her generation! (I don’t get the hem of the dress, though.)
