Soccer star David Beckham has joined in on the crusade to find 3-year-old Madeleine McCann, who was snatched from her family’s hotel room apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal, on Thursday, May 3.
Becks pleaded: “Last Thursday evening a little girl called Maddy was taken from the family hotel room in the Algarve in southern Portugal.
“As I’m sure you understand, we need to do everything possible to help the police with their enquiries in finding her.
“If you have seen this little girl please could you go to your local authorities or police and give any information that you have, any genuine information that you have. Please, please help us thank you.”

OMG, that’s sad.
it’s all over the news in the uk, so tragic!
I hope the find her it is over a week now, and i am beginning to think something bad might have happened.
I’m portuguese and i’m sorry for everything is going one with Maddy.I hope portuguese and brithish police find her.
God help the little girl.I will pray for her.

A beautiful little girl. My prayers and thoughts are with you, Maddy. With your parents, little brother and sister and all of those who love you.
It really saddened me that something like this has happened to such an innocent three year old. Maddy turns 4 this sunday, I hope whoever has her understands the pain they are causing and gives this little girl back to her family. I pray that she is found safe and sound very soon.

the more people that see this little girls picture the better. at some point, someone, somewhere will see this little girl and seeing here picture may just jog their memory.
it is widely believed that maddy may possibly now be in spain - which is why beckham has made the appeal, but she could really be anywhere in europe. so please pass on her picture to everyone you know.

no one knows for sure who has taken madeleine - she was abducted in a holiday resort part of portugal and so therefore it could be anyone - speculation and comments like yours dont help anyone and are quite frankly uncalled for at this time. if you want to go around making smart comments pick another thread - not one about the abduction of a little girl!
It would of been nice to fully display her face in the picture..you know in case someone has seen her..geez.

no that hasn’t been confirmed at all. a women and 2 men were seen on cctv with a girl who may or may not be maddy - which no one other than the police have seen, and they aren’t telling the media anything.
so it has not been confirmed and at this point it is only speculation.
and fug face - f*uck off! how can you make sarcastic jokes about a case like this! sick!

No it hasn’t. no sightings of maddy have been confirmed, there is speculation that a women and 2 men with a british car were seen with a girl like maddy but that doesn’t at this stage, mean its true - the portuguese police haven’t commented on any of the speculation and therfore we don’t know if any of it is true.
so kellys right it is specualtion and shes also right in saying that spreading rumours like this doesn’t help anyone.
Comments like that really are uncalled for. Even if the kidnappers are British, you’re really an idiot for making such a generalization about all British people. It doesn’t matter where the kidnappers are from, they’re still scum, and I really wish that they find them & they get what they deserve. My thoughts will be with this poor little girl & I will try to share this picture with as many people as I can. I really hope they find her fast. This is really tragic.

Well done, David! I’m portuguese and we are all praying for Madeleine. Cristiano Ronaldo (and several other portuguese and british footballers) made an appeal too in the beginning of the week.
I’m also Portuguese and i’m praying for her!!! she’s such a lovely girl, she doesn’t deserve it….how can people still do these kind of things nowadays??? and it’s even worse cuz it’s to a little girl….they should be ashamed of doing this nasty thing!!!
Although I commend his efforts, I find it sad that the only kidnappings that ever get significant attention are those of adorable caucasian girls. This is completely reminiscent of the Jean Bena Ramsey (sp?) case, which although sad became ridiculous through the excessive media coverage. Why doesn’t the world care about the kidnappings of minorities or those of less adorable children. As a side note, I am caucasian myself so no trying to call me out on playing the ‘race card.’ I just think it strange that the media rarely chooses to focus its attention on a large percentage of the world population.

Im portuguese too, so I’ve been in touch with this story from the beggining.
My prayers are all with Maddie and of course I hope and believe she will be found safe, I hope the person who as done this burns in hell and dies a very slow way.
BUT might I add that her parents should have not let their 3 babies (Maddie and her little twin brother and sister) ALONE in the hotel room and go for dinner with friends.
Yes they came and check on the kids sometimes, but come on, how irresponsable is it to leave 3 little kids alone in a hotel room??? Especially when the hotel as nannies for when parents what some alone time.
Well despite all this, I just hope she is found safe.

David Beckham is the most famous athlete in the world ! For this reason it would be much more useful for this little girl ! anyways like Lili says who cares who does it first all we care is that it is done..
Footballers like Beckham, C Ronaldo and Terry are idols for many people in Europe especially in places like England, Spain and Portugal where football (soccer) is huge. So big name players lending their support may help bring more publicity to the case in places which havent heard the news yet (although i doubt there is a place that hasnt heard)
Another thing which i thought of just this second was that in getting famous people to plea for her save return may make the abductors feel really guilty because it has turned into such a high profile case where as other child abduction cases across the world dont get this much publicity…..anyway that was just a brief thought.
I still remember when David Beckham and the Manchester Utd team made a plea for the safe return of Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman a few years ago because the two girl were wearing matching Manchester Utd shirts with “Beckham” on the back. Although that case had a tragic ending the appeals from the footballers insured that this story got alot of media Attention in the UK and around the world. Its the same with Maddys abduction.
Plus Maddy is a football fan, she is seen wearing and Everton shirt in one of her last family pictures and the Everton captain Phil Neville and Everton FC have also made an appeal for her.
