Maddox Mania in Prague
Fri, 11 May 2007 at 1:00 pm
What a cutie pie!
Maddox Jolie Pitt, 5, is off to school at Lycée Français de Prague on Friday in the Czech Republic, where dozens of onlookers watched from afar.
Good dad Brad dropped him off, Momgelina and her brother James Haven picked him up.
All those little school girls are so drooling over Maddox! Is it because he’s wearing another one of those Boho Skull Inky Dink Tees?

My 6 year old daughter had her first piano concert, played 4-hands with my husband who also made his pianist debut. It was very cute, as my son (3) ran to them during rehearsal and insisted that it was “his turn”. Maybe next year…
My husband and I (he is French) have contemplated on Lycee Francaise in NYC, but kind of torn about it because of the expense.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Wow, how wonderful to see your daughter play the piano with her dad.
My daughter has asked to learn but at this stage, I’m proceeding slowly. I think I might start by teaching her the basic fingering with the help of books, as and when she want to learn rather than sending her for lessons. I don’t know what it is, but for most 5.5 year old, the minute they have to GO for classes, they develop and resistance to it. One of my friends had a child’s guitar that her son would pick up and strum and play, for more than a year. But within 2 weeks of starting classes, he didn’t want to go anymore and hasn’t touch the guitar since.

Lycee Francais is an excellent choice of school for the Jolie Pitts. Not only was Cambodia but Vietnam too, were once French colonies. And you can go to a lycee in many major cities in the world.
Anyway, I’m all for children, anyone learning a second language. According to studies, the long term benefit of knowing a 2nd language stretches beyond the obvious access to a different culture and society. It apparently improves the brain development of the child, all round.
In addition, they have found that older people who speak a 2nd language with some fluency, are less prone to Alzheimers and other conditions of this nature.
Every member in my family and my husband’s family are bilingual or tri lingual or more (if you count dialects). There is no Alzheimers yet amongst the older generation in both our families. I’m very hopeful it stays that way.
I can sympathise with your thinking twice about sending your children to an lycee though. I’m sending my daughter to an international school and it will cost me an arm, leg and the shirt of my back.
Which is why we can’t afford to go out and I spend my time on the internet, voting for Brad and Angelina in all the polls, heheheheheheh
Angie now is at 30% !!
Thank you ladies!

Boring does not mean Jennifer is not a good mother.
Angie is my girl, but I like Jen Garner too.

Ms J Public- I think Andro just meant that Jen Garner is boring to look at or follow, I agree, she really does not like to make herself look attractive.
Jen Garner is very interactive with her child so I would not take offense if she won. It is easier for her to be more visible with Violet than it is for Angelina to be with her kids because the media hounds Angelina and not Jen Garner so much.
Maddox is cute…but WTF is wrong with Pitt-face? He’s aged 20 years since he hooked up with ******-mama.
lylian,
Thanks for your note!
Re: music lessons
I’m a professional musician, so I was actually torn even more whether to subject my kids to what I went through. I started piano at 3 and violin at 5. So when my daughter turned 5 I took her to a group lesson called Dalcroze; it’s a specialized musical education developped in Europe for kids that I heard a lot about and thought it might be good for my daughter. I don’t know if you saw my eariler posts (year ago or so…) but my daughter was diagnosed with PDD, a spectrum of disorder which includes Asperger and Autism. She goes to an integrated special ed kindergarten which has been WONDERFUL and she is progressing beautifully. One of the upside (or downside) is her communication skill, which she is working on it now. So back to Dalcroze–the teachers are quite a believers, almost like a kind of ’sect’. They firmly believe this is the right method and devoted. My daughter being herself, who is blatantly honest to a fault, just didn’t mesh with the teacher. One day (actually the last day eligible for a full-refund) everyone was sitting in a circle and pointing to their nose saying their names in rhythm. My daughter said loudly: “MOMMY, This is SILLY!!”. Red-faced, I decided to pull her out of the class
Anyway now she studies privately with a piano teacher who is an old friend of mine from highschool conservatory. It’s amazing several of us ended up in NYC
and she and I have been developing a special way–more visual way– to teach my daughter who is flourishing. I think all kids have their own speed and way to learn, and us parents just have to find what that is….
Re: Lycee, Intl. school etc
Well, it’s not just the actual cost that we are concerned. Although my kids have FOUR nationalities, it is likely they will live in the USA, then what does it mean to be culturally French in NYC? Or will they live in France… My husband believe in firm elementary education in France and he is extremely worried about that in the USA. He however believes that USA is the best for university education (he came here for PhD). He reads to my kids in French, and after some resistance (”daddy, SPEAK ENGLISH!”) they usually switch after 5 minutes. We go to France every summer, and last summer we put the kids for 22 days of full immersion at grandparents’ without me. They were fluent by the time we left, but now it’s gone again. We have to keep doing it. I’m so glad your daughter is in international school—I definitely think language skill is such a resource that you and Jolie-Pitts are doing such a great job. My son is September-born that means he doesn’t go to Kindergarten next fall–I’m still confused about this P.S. vs private school, age-month thing… I’ll keep you posted
Do you guys remember this?:
RD: Is there anything you haven’t done that you’d like to do?
Jolie: I’m sure I will live a life of great adventure. I will help where I can. The one thing I am not sure of is if I will do it alone. I would like to believe that I’m going to share my life with somebody, one day. There’s something bittersweet when you wake up in the middle of the night, or something amazing happens — your son walks for the first time — and you don’t have that other person who’s going to remember that forever with you. That’s kind of the one sadness. But if I only get one great love in my life, him being my son, I’ll take him.
RD: And if you get another love, what will he be like?
Jolie: The kind of man I could be with one day would have to be an amazing father, a compassionate, strong, independent individual. I want somebody who demands I be better than what I am today. I don’t have that with anyone in my life except my son. My son somehow thinks I can do everything.
NOW DO YOU RECALL THIS?:
RD: When we last met, you were a single mom with one son. You now have Brad and four kids. What happened?
Jolie: I met this AMAZING person, and we realized we had very similar views on how we wanted to live our lives. It’s happened quickly, with so many children. Yesterday, picking up the kids from school, Brad turned around in the car, and there were three of them. He couldn’t stop laughing. We love them and are having a great time.
RD: How has Brad been with this?
Jolie: He couldn’t go with us to Vietnam to get Pax because he was working. But they got together very quickly. I think Pax, after seeing how much Zahara and Mad and Shi love Brad, understands that he’s his daddy. Everybody seems to be safe in his arms. He makes everybody laugh. He helps everybody.
RD: Who’s the disciplinarian?
Jolie: When it comes to the boys, it’s Brad, and with the girls, it’s me. It’s not intentional, but Z can pretty much get anything she wants from her dad. Brad’s like a strong father with the boys.
RD: You’ve said that A Mighty Heart is also a love story. Did Danny and Mariane Pearl’s partnership have parallels to yours with Brad?
Jolie: They are what we strive to be. They met with a common goal that was so noble. They dedicated their lives to studying other cultures and trying to make a better world through honest journalism. They clearly set each other on fire to do really wonderful things in the world.
RD: Is that true with you and Brad? It didn’t seem he had the passion to do the humanitarian work before you.
Jolie: I discovered a man who’s extremely thoughtful, intelligent and invested in many issues. He’s just more quiet in his way. I think that’s the reason I love him. If I’m curious about something, I put my boots on and I’ll go tomorrow. I’ve been too outspoken. He’s the person who methodically figures out what he believes in and how he’s going to handle something, then does it seamlessly.
RD: You said you wanted a partner who would urge you to be better. Does Brad do that?
Jolie: He encourages the right things. If I’ve had a full day and just really been a hands-on mom, he’ll make a point to let me know that’s something he’s proud of. If I’m writing an Op-Ed, he’s the first person to want to read the drafts. I could be dressed up in the sexiest outfit for a photo shoot, and by his behavior, he’ll let me know that’s nice, but it’s nothing as sexy as when I’m home surrounded by the kids or reading books, educating myself. He slows me down to kind of get it right, to relax into the strength of my family and the love.

Well there we have it. She has found the person she’s been looking for. We can only imagine how truly intense their relationship really is, and I’m talking about more than on a sexual level as well. They seem to complete each other!
Luv ‘em!!!
I GOT YOUR MAN AND THERE’S NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT-LOVE IT #187
I think it’s crazy how people are comparing her quotes about Shiloh from rd with Elle. They refuse to watch the ann curry interview when she was Preggers and she basically said the kid was planned. They would rather believe that shiloh was a mistake. Strange!
