#7 Kristi–it seems like Maddox is learning French. Could be wrong, but several of the schools have a french theme to them. He could also be enrolled in a few ‘courses.’ I traveled extensively for work when my son was young and took him with me whenever I could and would always try and enroll him at a local school so he could make friends and learn something about the country we were in. Worked out fine for him as he is now a very self-confident, worldly wise young man. Seems like it is working out well for Maddox.

#18, that was no sunburn, it was supposedly a teething rash. I tend to think that’s so, as it very quickly went away. You didn’t see it in subsequent pics taken a few days later.

Thanks Jared for all the photos. And yes, I’m one of those who feels guilty about looking at photos where obviously the paps are invading their children’s privacy. But, I can’t help being drawn to following this family. They are just so wonderfully different than the typical celebrities we see. I have to admit I was never interested in following Brad or Angie during their past relationships, but as a couple they just rock. They bring out the best in each other and it’s great fun to follow along for the ride. Like today…they pick up Mad from school and then the three of them enjoy go-Kart racing. Love it! :-)

First thank you JJ and Insider of Prague for the photos. I was also looking for he Kart-racing pics but I goes we don’t have it yet. I just want to clarify that being a school psychologist, a child of school-age need some socializing experience with their peers. In this case with Maddox as an example, even obviously Brad and Angie can afford a private French tutor or a regular credentialed teacher. In the case of Pax, he is probably with an interpreter, but let us remember that he is only 3 years old too. Whether you take a child in and out of any school in the world is no problem since most kids in the 21st century are resilient enough within their environment. As long as you give them a happy and loving home, the travelling around is actually a big bonus since they learn all cultures and meet the people on a first hand account instead of reading them in their books. P.S. I cannot find the button on the poll for Angie when I clicked the link. Is it over (survey is for Mother’s Day?)

I haven’t seen acting like this from Angelina since Gia or Girl Interrupted.

Having a documentary pro like Winterbottom be the visionary on this project was a brilliant choice and/or stroke of luck for vantage. It is shot with a doc feel so you actually feel like you are a fly on the wall during Mariane Pearls most difficult time.

This was an emotionally difficult film to watch and I think Ms. Jolie has secured her Golden Globe AND AMPAS nominations!

Hey, my take on the Forbes list is that even though they talked with tabloid editors the fact that they don’t put Brad or Angelina on that list means that they don’t count publications, like Outtatouch, L&F, & USWeakly. there must be other factors other than magazine covers. I’m glad that they were not on the list because frankly they are not overexposed. People percieve that they are only because of their status in Hollywood. They also work.

Frenchy - methinks the reason why Brad and Angelina are missing is because no media wants to say that when they are making money on this couple.

Even haters have to check out the JPs.

ABOUT THE PRODUCTION

“Brad’s interest in the book was inspired by Mariane’s tremendous courage, and the generosity with which she shares her story,” said producer Dede Gardner, Producer at Plan B. “The process with Mariane from the beginning was driven by mutual respect. We were very conscious that a movie without her input and approval wouldn’t be worth making.” Pearl’s feedback was sought on the screenplay and on potential directors. “We sent her films to watch and had many discussions about the qualities that we all felt were crucial to our choice of director,” said Gardner.

A Michael Winterbottom fan since WELCOME TO SARAJEVO, Gardner gave the prolific director Mariane Pearl’s book at a London meeting in 2004.

By early 2006, he had completed two more films, including THE ROAD TO GUANTANAMO (which also filmed in Pakistan, as well as Afghanistan, Iran, Cuba and Britain). That film convinced Pitt that Winterbottom should direct A MIGHTY HEART.

“Brad called and we talked about the book and his ideas about how the film should be,” said Winterbottom. “Then I went to Paris to meet Mariane, and finally, in May, Andrew, Mariane, Dede and I went down to Namibia to meet up with Brad and Angie. That was the first time I met Angelina and it was great to see her with Mariane. They were very close and very similar - straight-forward and easy to deal with. Our conversations were practical. We talked about what should and shouldn’t be in the film.”

Still, she did worry about taking on A MIGHTY HEART. “Mariane has suffered the ugliest side of all that is going on in the world today and came out of it believing we cannot just be angry and blinded by hate, but must continue to have a dialogue,” said Jolie. “If I don’t represent her right, and people don’t see what a beautiful, strong, open-minded, loving woman she is, then I’ve done a disservice and hurt a really great woman.”

Pearl wasn’t worried. “I am delighted that Angelina Jolie is playing my role in the adaptation of my book,” she said. “I deeply admire her work and what she is committed to. I am also happy that Michael Winterbottom, a versatile and talented director who genuinely loves truth, is working on this project.”

Winterbottom used Mariane Pearl’s book as his bible in structuring the film. “We started by following her descriptions of events,” said Winterbottom. “Then I tried to meet with everyone who was with her at the time - Asra, Captain, Randall Bennett and his deputy Zahoor, Dost, John Bussey, Steve LeVine, Asif (Danny’s translator and fixer in Islamabad) and Jameel Yusuf of the Citizens Police Liaison Committee (CPLC). Each meeting added extra details to the story.”

Filming in all locations proceeded in typical Winterbottom style: director of photography Marcel Zyskind, who has worked on seven films with Winterbottom, operated a hand-held DV camera. There were no rehearsals, and no master shots or attendant series of close-ups. Most takes ran the full length of a scene, and scenes were shot in sequence. Winterbottom didn’t call “action” or tell anyone where the camera would be. That was decided in the moment, sometimes with Winterbottom gripping the back of Zyskind’s shirt to steer him. Natural light was used whenever possible to allow actors and camera freedom of movement.

“Michael creates an environment which feels as little like a movie set as possible,” said Futterman. “He’s looking, I think, for those surprising and unscripted moments of authenticity.”

Winterbottom asked the actors to treat the script’s dialogue as a starting point and improvise as much as possible. “They have spent time with the real characters, so they have heard how they talk. They know details of their personal stories and their points of view on these events,” he said. “We try to shoot the whole scene as it would naturally happen, and we shoot the entire scene on each take to allow a natural rhythm to develop. The scene can then change and evolve with each performance.”

It paid off. “It felt like we were really in these moments together, and shooting the scenes in order made it much more real for us,” said Jolie.

Jolie’s transformation added another layer of authenticity, and put American actor Gary Wilmes in the right mood on his first day as reporter Steve LeVine. “I hadn’t met Angelina yet, so I walked into Asra’s house for the first time as Steve did in real life,” he recalled. “I had never seen her without the wig, and felt much more that I was with Mariane than with Angelina.”

Before coming to India, the production visited the south of France for scenes including Danny and Mariane’s wedding, at Chateau de Valmousse in Lambesc. Futterman had already filmed in Pakistan, but the wedding day was Jolie’s first on set.

“The way Michael shoots, I had no rehearsal,” said Jolie. “I was in my room getting ready and they said, ‘Okay, come down the stairs.’ So that was it. I walked into the wedding and we said our vows. I had looked at Danny’s and Mariane’s wedding footage just before, and it made me terribly sad. It was such a happy moment for her, so beautiful. They loved each other so much, those two, and you can see it in the wedding. It was hard not to cry.”

The day after the wedding sequence, Jolie was filmed on the street in Marseilles, portraying Mariane after she has left Karachi to await her son’s birth. “She was walking down the street heavily pregnant, in a long gray skirt, carrying two shopping bags,” Walter recalled. “People walked past her, and bumped into her, and nobody recognized her. It was quite amazing.”

It felt right behind the camera, too, where Winterbottom’s long-standing team worked alongside Indian and Pakistani crew members. “What was really great was that Dede and Plan B, and especially Angie, were so relaxed and friendly, that all these people with completely different experiences just got on with it,” said Winterbottom.

Jolie understood the potential for risk, and for reward. “We talked about the risks before we started filming, the security concerns and what it would mean politically if we got it wrong. We could anger more people and make it worse,” she said. “But if by some small chance we get it right, maybe we can do a little something towards bringing people back together, or at least looking at each other in another light.”

but the fact of the matter is that they have no intention of getting married. that says alot, especially when they were willing to go there with relationships that appeared, from the outside looking in, to be less substantial than their current one. they are in it until it ends. by not getting married, they are already embracing that fact.

I don’t get what you’re trying to say here. Do you mean that getting married is the only way that couples can commit to stay together forever? Because you’ve got Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russel who I believe were BOTH previously married but are in a relationship and happily not married to each other, Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins are happily not married with children, Johnny Depp was married before but is not married now to his girlfriend of many years whom he has children with, and there are many other people in America who were previously married but are in relationships where they are not married. So, the idea that only marriage is the defining stance of forever kind of relationships is not realistic. I mean, I believe in marriage and would like to be married one day when the time is right but that doesn’t mean that those that are not married will somehow be less in love or less committed to each other than I will be.

Konnitiwa, I’m sure you are right that Shiseido used some sort of poll because I remember reading that Shiseido found that Japanese women thought that Angelina had the most beautiful lips and sales of their lipstick leapt by 25% or more within weeks of the marketing promotion.

Mark her words. I just watched today’s rerun of The Insider, Janice Min said she doesn’t think a breakup is likely with B&A. She also said she doesn’t think George Clooney is ever going to get married again. Sorry AG.

Firstly, I want to clear the air: I did not compare the feelings of Brad for Angie to his feelings for Gwyneth and especially for Jen, neither the relationships he has with them. Don’t try to make sound my comment as if like this.

I do believe that Brad has found whatever he has been looking for in Angie. Always wish them happiness and luck.

Brad was engaged to Gwyneth, not married at all. He was hurt and got a help for that. His wound was healed before starting another relationship. Brad would not start dating another person after almost a year just to feel good and safe.

I do choose to believe that Brad is a good person and Brad would not be with someone for 2 years then marry her for 4,5 years if she was only a rebound. I didn’t say that Brad is perfect. Brad is a humanbeing which I always do mention in my comments. He is a nice guy. He is also a smart one. He would not let his meaningless feelings rule his life at all or so long.

I don’t consider Jen as rebound in his life. He was the one who kept saying that he wanted girls and looked like little Jen. He kept telling people that he wanted to have family with his wife. Brad is a romantic soul and he said very romantic things about his wife. He was with Gwyneth and Jennifer because he loved them.

But then he might realise that loving a person is not enough to spend your life with. He might realise that the path they were on was not where he wanted to be. He walked away.

The way he talked about Jen was changed in time. Brad is not a kind of guy who talks openly about his romantic feelings, he does time to time. He romantically talked about his wife at very early age of their marriage.

“This is my opinion”: Brad was in love with Gwyneth but she cheated and he got hurt. Brad loved Jennifer but she lied about her priorities and he left.

Brad is head-over-heals in love with Angie and they have a family together. They look at life from the same window. (this is a kind of expression)

For your information, it was Gwyneth who gave a push-chair (stroller) to Brad on his birhtday in 1996, not Brad to Gwyneth.

I can’t say that I am more fan of Brad than Angie, but I have been longer fan of Brad than Angie. I got to know of Angie at the end of 1999; I do love to see them as a couple and be happy together. God bless them and their kids.

OH YEAH! And truly, I think Angie witnessed first-hand what Brad *did* have to go through in order to get out of his marriage…how much red tape he had to cut across, how much time it took, the meetings and lawyers…and surely, he probably vented some of his frustrations to her. She probably looked at him and decided she never wanted to put him through anything like that should they ever decide to part ways in the future. It’s wonderful to get insight into how their projects come together, and how they are always planning and working together with such a varied caircle of people. Brad and Angie are engaged in dialogue with many people at any given time, even right up to mere weeks before Angie gave birth. They integrate their children and each other into their professionally lives so smoothly.

It puts me in mind of what Angie said in the Reader’s Digest interview about how Brad does things “seamlessly”. These two are so good together! And I truly hope I get to see AMH. If not, I will certainly purchase the DVD. This an important story. I am glad they are making serious movies about thought-provoking subjects.

Putting a human face on controversial immigration policy, SENTENCED HOME follows three young Cambodian Americans through the deportation process. Raised in inner city Seattle, they pay an unbearable price for mistakes they made as teenagers. Caught between their tragic pasts and an uncertain future, each young man confronts a legal system that offers no second chances.

As part of a large group of Cambodian refugees admitted to the U.S. in the early 1980s, the deportees and their families found asylum in Seattle’s grim public housing projects and hoped for a piece of the American dream. But, as “permanent residents,” the refugees were not afforded the same protections as American citizens. Under strict anti-terrorism legislation enacted in 1996, even minor convictions can result in automatic deportation. For some, this means being permanently separated from families and homes because of a minor offense—such as the case of Loeun Lun, who fired a gun in the air as a teenager to protect himself from a gang attack.

Told through interweaving stories, in the voices of the deportees, their families and friends, SENTENCED HOME explores what it’s like to be deported along with the social, historical and political reasons behind the deportees’ fate. Along with family man Loeun Lun, who fights to stay together with his wife and children from behind bars and across oceans, audiences will meet former gang member Kim Ho Ma, who struggles to come to terms with his identity in a country he doesn’t understand. I have never tried to detract from the attractiveness of the couple nor would I ever speak ill of their children. I just don’t understand how you can hate one woman so much for simply being dumped for someone who is, yes, hotter. Yes, she made terrible career choices and yes, she probably did not want to have kids when she wanted a career, but I think that’s a mature decision. Again, I really don’t care for either party, just curious why you choose to make fum of her chin and face and things she cannot help. If you are going to pick on anything it should be actions.

Katherine Hepburn is still today measured by her work and not by her relationship with Spencer Tracy - while Angelina is measured by her relationship with Brad. How bloody unfair is that?

I’ve said it before, Jennifer Aniston is far more conniving than people give her credit for. How else do you account for her ability to rally the masses to her side - leaving her practically blameless and wrapped in a cocoon of victimhood. She is the one who is setting back the women’s movement. A woman who by her own admission is incapable of making a decision on her own, who would want to hang to a man who clearly did not want her anymore. A woman who does not own up to her mistakes. A woman who cannot go anywhere without her friends. A woman willing to allow another to take the blame for her marriage falling apart knowing full well that there were problems serious enough to have apparently led to a trial separation.
If she had come out and say - you know Brad and I are different people, we were making each other unhappy. I would feel for her. But she carried on as as if la-di-da, they were so happy and then all of a sudden Brad upped and left her.

So to answer you question, yes I LOATHE her and all she represents.
