Hey everyone, I was just watching the View and Rosie quickly mentioned a documentary that PBS will be airing this week called “Sentenced Home”. Here’s the description. Also, there’s a link to the schedule on there so you can find out when it airs in your area.

Putting a human face on controversial immigration policy, SENTENCED HOME follows three young Cambodian Americans through the deportation process. Raised in inner city Seattle, they pay an unbearable price for mistakes they made as teenagers. Caught between their tragic pasts and an uncertain future, each young man confronts a legal system that offers no second chances.

As part of a large group of Cambodian refugees admitted to the U.S. in the early 1980s, the deportees and their families found asylum in Seattle’s grim public housing projects and hoped for a piece of the American dream. But, as “permanent residents,” the refugees were not afforded the same protections as American citizens. Under strict anti-terrorism legislation enacted in 1996, even minor convictions can result in automatic deportation. For some, this means being permanently separated from families and homes because of a minor offense—such as the case of Loeun Lun, who fired a gun in the air as a teenager to protect himself from a gang attack.

Told through interweaving stories, in the voices of the deportees, their families and friends, SENTENCED HOME explores what it’s like to be deported along with the social, historical and political reasons behind the deportees’ fate. Along with family man Loeun Lun, who fights to stay together with his wife and children from behind bars and across oceans, audiences will meet former gang member Kim Ho Ma, who struggles to come to terms with his identity in a country he doesn’t understand. Also introduced is an introspective Many Uch, who looks to redeem himself by taking advantage of what time he has left in the U.S. to give today’s Cambodian American youth something he never had—the ability to play little-league baseball.

SENTENCED HOME follows Lun and Kim Ho Ma all the way to Cambodia. There Lun begins building a tiny shack for himself amidst rice paddies, while Kim Ho tries to contain his anger and frustration at U.S. immigration law, and the lack of opportunity in the city of Phnom Penh.

Meanwhile, as Many Uch leads his baseball team, inspiring members of the Seattle community to re-think their negative opinions of the deportees, his own deportation status hangs in the balance of an unblinking legal system increasingly deemed unfair.

I have never tried to detract from the attractiveness of the couple nor would I ever speak ill of their children. I just don’t understand how you can hate one woman so much for simply being dumped for someone who is, yes, hotter. Yes, she made terrible career choices and yes, she probably did not want to have kids when she wanted a career, but I think that’s a mature decision. Again, I really don’t care for either party, just curious why you choose to make fum of her chin and face and things she cannot help. If you are going to pick on anything it should be actions.

You see this is what gets me. JENNIFER ANISTON is a public fiure therefore any major event in her life would have been made public. She did not get dumped publicly - she got separated and divorced from another public figure. Just like Nicole Kidman, Halle Berry, Kate Winslet and other famous people. Public interest would have waned in her divorce BUT for her desire for public validation as the wronged woman. SHE decided to involve the public. SHE cried to the reporter. SHE admitted to her pity parties. Therefore, SHE is ultimately responsible for public perception of her - whether it be hatred, pity, or love.
What did she think, that she could convince the whole world that she played no part in the demise of her marriage? Only, deluded, immature people would believe she was blameless.

Katherine Hepburn for all her Oscars, lived for years with Spencer Tracy until his death. He was at the time still married with children. I guarantee katherine Hepburn did not get the public flogging that Angelina got. Katherine Hepburn is still today measured by her work and not by her relationship with Spencer Tracy - while Angelina is measured by her relationship with Brad. How bloody unfair is that?

I’ve said it before, Jennifer Aniston is far more conniving than people give her credit for. How else do you account for her ability to rally the masses to her side - leaving her practically blameless and wrapped in a cocoon of victimhood. She is the one who is setting back the women’s movement. A woman who by her own admission is incapable of making a decision on her own, who would want to hang to a man who clearly did not want her anymore. A woman who does not own up to her mistakes. A woman who cannot go anywhere without her friends. A woman willing to allow another to take the blame for her marriage falling apart knowing full well that there were problems serious enough to have apparently led to a trial separation.
If she had come out and say - you know Brad and I are different people, we were making each other unhappy. I would feel for her. But she carried on as as if la-di-da, they were so happy and then all of a sudden Brad upped and left her.

So to answer you question, yes I LOATHE her and all she represents.

My tears come rolling down when I see Z smiling, carrying a backpack, and going to school. I still remember how sick she was when she was adopted .

Montserrat - since most on here would agree that Jen has pretty much “no career” or “has done anything new/blog worthy” don’t you agree she could revive this “career” with say, a tell all book, or by crying again to the media and yet she chooses not to. I don’t believe JA has victmized herself, I think she got pigeonholed into that persona. We all make mistakes, we all do things that are dumb. Nobody including the Golden Couple are exempt from that. But if you are going to put out one persons faults without mentioning another it’s purely attacking. That’s all I am saying. Fine by me if you think these shells are deities. I don’t care what you bow down to. But it just bugs me when you can’t do it without trashing someone else.
