Brad Pitt’s Arm Tattoo = Otzi the Iceman
Brad Pitt’s new inner left forearm tattoo has been ID’s as the outline of Ötzi the Iceman, aka Frozen Fritz and Similaun Man. Here’s some history behind Europe’s oldest natural human mummy via the South Tyrol Museum of Archeology:
Over 5000 years ago, a man climbed up to the icy heights of the Schnalstal glacier and died. He was found by accident in 1991, with his clothes and equipment, mummified and frozen: an archaeological sensation and a unique snapshot of a Copper Age man.
The mummy of Otzi and the articles found with it, found in 1991 on the border between Austria and Italy, have been on exhibit since March 1998 at the South Tyrol Museum of Archeology.

ok I adore Brad and I adore Angelina, but WTF?!?! I know they’re committed to each other and all, but dude, you went ur whole life w/o getting inked and now you have 3 (and counting probably) tatoos!!! Angelina is beautiful but I do think her tats detract from her beauty–and the same for Brad. IMO tatoos are a kind of defacement and I just don’t see why it needs to be done, and seeing that he has another–very prominently placed–tatoo is a little upsetting.

Otzi is very significant - probably one of the most important archeological discoveries of our time. He was a very early metal worker - one of the first Europeans ever found with a cushion stone used for fashioning bronze. He also had a bronze axe, predating the supposed beginning of the Bronze Age. He would have been considered a magician to more primitive people of his time.

Don’t really like the new tattoo much either. I just don’t get it. Why’d he pick this particular image? He’s just getting too weird and slobbish for me. And the other little line tattoo his has across his arm is ugly as well. If he’s going to get one, might as well be visible. What’s the point if it just looks like he accidently just got swiped by a pen?! lol. Oh well. I guess to each his own. But I liked the pre-Angelina Brad *much* better!! He just seemed so much more clean cut and down to earth and NORMAL. He’s beyond hot, obviously and I love the two of them as a couple and their extended and ever-growing fam is wonderful. Don’t mind tats in the least as long as they are artfully done and have some significance. This one doesn’t fall into the former category. It looks like “poor man’s ink/art”, or, as someone above so aptly put it looks like a kid drew it w/ a Sharpie.

Not liking the tattoo much, not because I don’t like tattoos but frankly, I think it’s just an ugly tattoo. I’m a history buff so I appreciate Otzi, but his likeness on someone’s body is a bit strange.
But it’s Brad’s tattoo and I’m sure to him it’s beautiful because it means something to him. Angie has said that all her tattoos have significant meaning for her and I”m sure the same goes for Brad.
What I’m really trying to figure out is if it is upside down. It looks as though Otzi’s head is facing downward towards Brad’s wrist. Am I right or am I looking at it wrong?
Anyway, if Brad likes his new tattoo and is happy with it then I’m happy for him! :-)

I laugh at the fact that uses the name Missing the Good Ole Brad because I think the other important reason the Aniston/Pitt marriage failed so miserably (the first one being the fact that she didn’t want to have children no matter what she says) it’s the fact that most of the things they did in public were meaningless such as award shows. With Angelina, most of the things they do are family oriented and meaningful. Even his tattoos have meaning now. I didn’t posted bad things about Zahara.
I just mentioned that when were they planning on doing something for Z’s leg, as many others did. But everybody bombarded me, because I also posted my opinion on Angelina. So that’s the real reason. Don’t hide behind little Z, to take your anger on me. Don’t bring her here. You were mad at me because of my opinion of Angie not because I mention Z’s leg problem as so many others did. Because eventhough of her leg, she is still a cute little girl.
I guess these naysayers never heard Angelina’s interview at The Good Shepherd premiere where she said that they just go to bed (I forgot the exact wording) when the kids are asleep, and she had this naughty twinkle in her eye. I think what she means by the statement is she does not want to tie Brad down by getting married because marriage does not insure couples to stay together. It does not mean however, that they are separating now but she is just trying to explain why they are not getting married. She just want her partner to be committed to her children. She is humble enough to admit that she cannot tie any man or Brad to stay with her if he does not want to stay. She truly loves Brad and she is leaving it to him to decide. That is true love. She will let him go if he wants to go. It goes with the saying ” if you love a person set him free, if he comes back he is meant to be if he does not it was never meant to be. ” It is apt to Brad to respond. I knew with all the good/legit news coming out about Brad and Angie. That Aniston would find some way to court public sympathy in her passive/agressive way. I was thinking along this line as well. Maybe it isn’t even permanent. We don’t really know anything about Brad’s true inner thoughts or why he might have chosen this image, but when I read it was The Ice Man, the first thing that popped into *my* head was that he might be using it as a reminder of his own personal “ice age” and the subsequent “awakening” to the world and to never sleepwalk or through life ever again.
Just a thought.

How did I become so obsessed with BAMPZS? O yeah, just Angie. I remember seeing AJ in “Foxfire” and “Hackers” (which i’m watching right now) and not being particularly struck by her beauty or her acting but completely in awe of her presence. After experiencing “Gia”, I was hooked by all 3. I feel so moved by seeing her talent develop, the amount of love she puts into her realtionships with men (JLM,BBT and BP) and her boundless devotion to her kids. Her growth as a woman and an individual; it’s just inspiring to me. I remember reading a LONG time ago about her almost hiring someone to kill her b/c she didn’t want to devestate her family by suicide. And now to see her as a continuously maturing and physically stunning person who has such a passion, love and respect for now not only her own life, and needless to say her children’s lives but for children and people the world over. It’s simply inspiring and beautiful to watch.
I believe people are paid to steer the conversation in a certain direction. Why would someone come and stay forever on a thread and try to take up every fan? Please let’s focus on fostering friendship among the fans and promote the good cause that this family stand for.

When BP was in “Thelma & Louise”, “legends of the Fall”, & “A River Runs Through It” and every female fell in love with him i was not impressed. But when he started popping up in movies I enjoy like “Fight Club”, “12 Monkeys” “Se7en” (I am obsessed with this movie) I took notice. Through watching his actions, reading his past interviews and AJ’s few words on him (isn’t it sweet how even b/f and after they were officially together all she can keep repeating is ‘what a good guy’ and ‘just a great man’ and ‘great friend’ he is? i love that –>I think those few words speak volumes :) and mainly all of you BPfanatics words on him that these are two people who belong together. They compliment each other and work well together on many levels. They have both done their share of growing through relationships and seem to be committed to each other and even more to there family. That said if these two people were to go their seperate ways romantically, I could absolutely see them being best friends and even see them to continue to share a living space with or w/o new partners if there kids were still young (and at the rate they’re going they’ll always have a small child in the family j/k :). I think maybe it symbolizes that “Nothing is impossible”!! The Otzi guy climed the mountains 5,000 years ago, without any modern equipment to protect him from the bitter cold. But, he still DARED. So it might be MOTIVATING for Brad, and he probably recites the story to his kids at nighttime Dare to the the impossible- which seems so true in Brad’s word- who woul risk America’s wrath by dumping the sweetheart and going with the Average woman’s nightmare. He risked a lot by doing that but came out ahead and above!!!

That this man who lived so long ago, based on his own wits, and abilities and skills — KNEW he could do something that amazing…he TRIED, he had faith in himself. That tat says a LOT about Brad. It almost makes me want to cry. I knew the tat might have deep meaning ( I was hooking the kids into it — ala Angie’s tats) - but that is even MORE profound, and even more of a gift TO THEM. By the way, I don’t think it’s upside down - when Brad is reaching for higher ground, when Brad lifts his arms up, and is ‘climbing’ so to speak, to greater heights, Otzi’s head and arms are right side up and climbing too - and when Brad wants to look at his tat for inspiration (he has to bend his arm to look at it in a mirror) - Otzi again, is right side up. Ultimately a tattoo serves as symbolism and inspiration to that person - Otzi is right side up when Brad is reaching for things — new heights.

Great mind ya got there…actually, I am among those who feel uneasy about it, mostly because it is Angelina’s thing. Almost symbolic of her, I just want him to be exactly as he was, i guess. I don’t like tattoos, so that may have a lot to do with my opinion. However, knowing what it means (thanks for the great information, Suspicious Package) gives it a bit of a twist. He is an architecture and archeology buff, and it would have significence to him. Soooo,,,it is growing on me, although his arm is too beautiful to deface, LOL. May be 10 years from now, those mag may not be that useful because by then, people are probably more sophisticated and more educated, but until then, mag still sells.

Someone in an earlier post wondered what Oprah sees in X - one thing came to mind: they both do not have children and treat/love their dogs like their children. Not that there’s anything wrong with that before someone’s feeling is hurt by that comment (I personally have daogs and love, love them). It’s a huge, personal decision they made with not having children that might bond them together in one aspect. As for X showing up on Oprah again to talk about the charity project w/ Jaime Oliver, Oprah does know her audience, and the Mini Van Majority does eat X up with a spoon. Frightening, I know!

As long as US deliberately antagonizes A-list celebs, they’re always going to be on the outside looking in. They may go to places like the Oscar and Cannes…but they’ll never get a legitmate exclusive from any celebrity that’s not flat-out desperate. And until Min recognizes that the public buys People because they know People isn’t deliberately misrepresenting the truth, then US is always going to be a wannabe and on the fringe of celebrities lives peeping in their garbage cans and asking their neighbors and third grade teachers for stories about them.

I agree on Oprah. She maybe charitable, but she isn’t a loving type. It struck me very strongly watching Troy interview with Eric Bana and Brad. Bana said that having children really changed his life and made him a better actor. Oprah’s reaction was, “Oh REALLY?” with a tone of doubt and surprise. Bana said the role called for a father with a young baby, and it’s not possible not to relate to that. Also it was very poignant when Bana said, “I have two children” and Brad repeated “TWO children…” with a tone of envy. This video used to be up at pittcenter.com but no longer there (they got hacked). Does anyone know where all Brad’s interviews are?
So I could relate to Miss Orange and Oprah getting along, self-centered (in a good and bad way) and only can love pets that you could dominate. And I am also an animal lover, but they don’t substitute my children.

Please. They may have a relationship, but ‘great,’ is stretching it — Hollywood is a symbiotic creature at best, a kind of you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours mentality — a personal relationship isn’t needed, only a business one. At best, that’s what Weintraub and Clooney have with VF in THIS instance — this is business. It says a LOT, that Brad is no longer even playing that game (i.e., business) with VF, and if VF is smart - they are racking their brains on just what they can do, if anything to bring, beg, plead, cajole, Brad & Angie back into the fold. Not that there IS anything mind you that they can do. Clooney and Weintraub are engaging them only because they are sponsoring the charity event and helping to publicize it, barring that — I don’t think Clooney or Weintraub have respect for what Carter did to Brad. I think Min’s main problem is that US is clearly biased against certain celebs and she lets that rule the tone of their articles. Every story she writes about Angelina is accusatory and damning. The same with Tom Cruise. If she wants to be considered a “news magazine” then she needs to step back and stop slamming people. In her zeal to make people hate the people SHE hates, she doesn’t check her facts and/or willfully and negligently misreports or flat out lies. She does the exact same thing she’s accusing the other tabs of doing, yet she wants us to think that they’re “honest” mistakes. Well, a lapdance that only the people who supposedly spoke to US saw is not a well-investigated piece of journalism. It’s a malicious lie told with the intent of damaging someone’s reputation. First she says the party was “small and exclusive”…then she quotes 3 people who were there? If it was exclusive, the people who get invited aren’t going to be talking to US about Angelina! That’s a lie not an “error”. But, hey, that’s just me. I’m sure Janice Min sees that story as fair game. After all, not all she can’t be responsible for a witness lying to her…right?

Get real. Brad has done 1 print interview in since he left the albatross and that was in March 2005 for GQ. The Esquire piece wasn’t an “inteview” so I’m not counting that. He’s also done 2 tv interviews with Ann Curry on the Today Show. Brad has NEVER liked talking about his personal life. The few times he spoke on record about X during their relationship was no doubt to give the neurotic, no self-esteem twit an ego boost. Angie does not need an ego boost and she knows that Brad conducts his interviews differently than she does. He has no problem with her being open about their lives because that’s how Angie has always done interviews. But for himself, he’s not going to put his feelings on display for people like you to judge. They are what they are and he’s comfortable with that and so is Angie. So you just need to bite the big one and get lost.

If you watch his movies, many of his character were like very complicate, strong and wild - some characters had tattoos. Because of his Golden Couple era and Red Carpet pose, people think that Brad is some sort of your next door Golden boy. However, I do not think so.
