Brad & Angelina Make ‘Mighty’ Premiere
Who’s died and gone to Brangelina heaven?
Holding hands and walking arm in arm together every step of the way, Brad Pitt (in Tom Ford) and Angelina Jolie (in vintage Balmain couture) attend the premiere for A Mighty Heart at the Palais des Festivals during Cannes Film Festival on Monday in France.
During a press conference, which took place earlier in the day, Brad and Angie were asked to share their experience working on the film. Angie provided an eloquent answer about overcoming hatred. But then moderator, Henri Behar of French Vogue, asked Brad if he had anything to add. Brad just smiled and said he couldn’t even remember the question because “I was wafting in the words of what’s-her-name.”
Ah, what’s her name!
35+ pictures inside of Brad, Angelina, Marianne Pearl (with her son Adam), director Michael Winterbottom and co-stars Dan Futterman and Irfan Khan…

… the souls of African children? That’s pretty gross, isn’t it?
Thanks to LLM:
It’s an impressively light press conference which I recommend you: sometimes repeating questions but however very good reactions and responses by the interviewed… amazing people with a high sense of responsibility and concern for making the world nice and friendly - good examples for the coming generation.
If you know some French, just watch it through … better than watching soap tv series.

MY GOODNESS. In the words of the dude who runs thesuperficial.com…
“Angelina, geezus. I suspect she’s using some sort of lotion crafted out of the souls of young African children. A lotion that makes you look better than any human being should be allowed to look. And when you open the bottle a glowing gold light falls on your face and an ominous hum fills the room.”

And BRAD! He just gets better with age!

I am sooooooo lovin’ this. That’s hilarious - but from all reports that is the effect she gives, as if she’s glowing, and just lit from the inside.
He looks very uncomfortable.
MF, LLM, Keana, jjoy, jp-fans and all other BAMPZSfans, :)
Papa Pitt still need your vote all the way to 31 May….. :)

I was reading all the reviews for the movie-all i can say is WOW, the critics love this move, especially winterbottom and angelina-brad must be so proud to have this movie made and see the acceptance of this movie-he really is in his realm as a producer.

The video doesn’t work for me. Is there a trick to get it to work?

On the Carpet
I thought it was crazy enough earlier in the day during the press conference but that was just the press. Out in front of the Palais, where fans had been waiting for hours, they totally lost their ****.
Again, in photos Angelina is always pursing her lips for her pose so it’s hard to tell the body language. But I can tell you that these two are not uncomfortable with their fame. They don’t look awkward up there, it’s absolutely natural, they match stride for stride, slowly, as if they could have been strolling down the Croisette, totally non plussed by the flashbulb explosion – really is quite amazing.
Hardly stepped away from each other the entire time. There was a lot of whispering back and forth, many suggestive glances – again…it’s like porn for me. And even what could be called a girly girl moment with Mariane Pearl… or at least the closest that Angelina Jolie can come to a girly girl moment. At some point the two women looked across from each other and smiled and lifted their shoulders and giggled a little. It’s genuine their friendship, 100% it’s genuine.
Also loved Brad’s affection for little Adam Pearl who was clearly overwhelmed by the situation. There’s no photo of it but as they headed into the Palais after waving to the crowd, Angelina mussed up Adam’s hair and made a silly face and poked him in the armpit. He laughed, she laughed, and then she took Brad’s hand and they entered the theatre.
Again, A Mighty Heart was very well received. I’m told yesterday exceeded their expectations and so as I’ve reported several times, they just might push Angie for Actress – which we knew already – AND the film for Best Picture, regardless of box office performance though predicted to modest at best. Let you know if I hear more.
PS. Most random attendee? Mischa Barton. You think she actually understood what A Mighty Heart was all about???
PPS. Angelina’s dress was one thing…but Brad’s tux? UNBELIEVABLE. Look at that … vest…or whatever you call it. And he WORE it, you know? He.Wore.It.

Thanks for posting all the reviews re AMH. Love ya for it — helps to counteract ANY negativism that naysayers and fanistons insist on infesting this site with. And don’t you just love Lainey’s post? I have had my issues with Lainey but I have forgiven her (for now) for all this positives about Brad and Angelina at the Cannes.

From Hollywood Reporter
Bottom Line: Angelina Jolie shines in a suspenseful docudrama about a terrorist kidnapping.
By Ray Bennett
CANNES — Michael Winterbottom’s expertly fashioned documentary-style drama “A Mighty Heart” relates the intense manhunt launched in Pakistan when jihadists kidnapped Wall Street Journalist Daniel Pearl in 2002. Angelina Jolie delivers a well-measured and moving performance as the reporter’s wife, Mariane.
With the BBC’s Gaza correspondent Alan Johnston now missing and believed kidnapped for 70 days and journalists in danger in hotspots around the world, a film version of Mariane Pearl’s book about the search for her husband could not be more timely.
Set for release in the U.S. in June and the rest of the world in September, the film’s even-handed approach to incendiary topics should generate substantial interest.
Jolie’s voice-over sets the scene as the movie begins in Karachi, a vast, sprawling city where her husband went missing. He was on assignment to meet a man who could tell him more about Richard Reid, the captured shoe bomber. The events of Sept. 11 were not long past, and the situation was made difficult by the Wall Street Journal going public with the fact that it had turned over a suspicious computer to the CIA.
The film traces Pearl’s movements on the night he was kidnapped, with him being warned several times to meet his contact only in public. His trail died when a taxi dropped him off at a restaurant. When he fails to return to the place where he and his wife, who is pregnant with their first child, are staying, she calls in the authorities. Senior people from the newspaper including John Bussey (Denis O’Hare) and Steve LeVine (Gary Wilmes) drop everything to help in the hunt headquartered at the home of the Pearl’s friend, writer Asra (Archie Panjabi). U.S. diplomatic security specialist Randall Bennett (Will Patton) and representatives of assorted American agencies join the team that is led by the head of the Pakistani counter-terrorism unit who is known as Captain (Irrfan Khan).
The news breaks internationally, and various parties claim that Pearl is with the CIA or Mossad, which complicates things. One Pakistani government member dismisses it as a crime by India. Winterbottom shows the painstaking steps taken to link one mobile phone caller to the next and efforts to track down a single Internet provider that is used to send e-mails about the kidnapping. Marcel Zyskind’s cinematography captures the frantic bustle of the over-populated city as agents swarm into tenements to arrest suspects.
The film alarmingly implies that torture works when one suspect reveals names under duress and watching the no-holds-barred approach of the Pakistani authorities on a raid, the American Bennett declares, “I love this town!”
For the most part, however, the film reflects the dispassionate view espoused by Mariane Pearl, who sees that it is misery that breeds terrorism. Jolie plays her with respect and a firm grasp on a difficult accent influenced by France and Cuba. She has a powerful scene in which she lets out a shriek of grief that will be recognized wherever people suffer from terror and loss.
Brad, George, Matt & Don will do an interview with GMA LIVE tomorrow morning.
