Angelina Jolie sits down with NBC News’ Ann Curry to talk about A Mighty Heart, her extensive humanitarian work, Brad Pitt and their four children, and the recent death of her mother, Marcheline Bertrand.
The interview will air on The Today Show @ 7AM ET/PT and Dateline NBC @ 10PM ET/PT Wednesday, May 23.
So if I asked you, for example, right now — what’s something that’s untrue that you would like to say right now is not true… you wouldn’t know what was untrue that was written about you? No.
Nothing? No. I mean, I can assume. I know there’s a cycle of certain things that they keep rewriting or whatever, but I can assume things are made up. But no, I haven’t a clue. (laughter) And why would I, you know? There’s nothing I have to hide or defend. You know, I’m gonna live my life. And there are gonna be times when people wanna try to attack me and I don’t know why, but they will. And that’s okay.
It’s okay? Well, there are other things I’m more concerned about. My kids are healthy. I have a lot I want to do in this world. Before I do, I wanna do a lot of things as a woman, as a mom, and that’s my focus. At the end of the day, I’m gonna be dead… and what people say about me is gonna be what I accomplished and what I did in my life and how my children are.
Is there anything you’d like to say to people listening now because you now have an unedited audience here — an unedited opportunity — to give people to unvarnished truth about who you are and what you stand for. Is there anything that you want to say about yourself? No. I mean… I have always been honest about who I am, and I’ve always been very outspoken to press. I think people have heard a lot from me (laughter) over the years. And - and you do hear more, you know?… People wanna believe negative things, they will. And I can’t help that.

Jolie on her role as Mariane Pearl
It’s interesting. I was reading that you were actually six months pregnant when you first talked to Mariane. I was six months pregnant and –
But that helped you empathize? But it [did]. It was also a very interesting thing because for as much as I was kind of waddling around and feeling the heat, I couldn’t help but look over at this woman and think, “God, she is where I’m at now and I’m having — and not just the physical thing of being pregnant and, oh, that’s difficult. And I have this man with me who’s helping me through this and loves me.”
And it’s a joyous moment. And we’re about to now also have a baby, and we’re gonna look at this baby together across the room at each other. And it’s all those things that make that so much more. And to not just physically be thinking, “God, how is this woman physically dealing with trying to maintain her strength and take care of this baby that’s inside of her, working so hard and having so much emotional stress?”
But on top of it, what that took away from her. What that took away from this time in their life, this is the happiest time in their life. And what that must be. I just can’t imagine. I thought about that when I was breastfeeding. I thought about that all through kind of the birth of, you know, that haunted me and when I was sitting here quiet, I would think, “God, just a few months after, what is that like? What is that like?”
To play her was not easy. To play her at this time of her life was not easy. I’ve played real people before, but I never knew them. And, you’d think that would be easier. (laughs) I did. But the day before we started shooting, I had hardly slept and I was in a panic. I had gotten to know her and I’d gotten to know their son. And the thought that he would see this one day… It was my responsibility to not just show the world but also show him how much his mother loved his father and how much they loved each other and how they handled this time.
It was something that haunted me through the whole thing and haunted, I think, everybody involved. Nobody ever really voiced that and nobody really talked about it, but I’m sure it was something that she did become a friend.
So how do you play [that role?]- I’m sure if somebody said to you, “Your great girlfriend has gone through the most horrible thing in her life. Why don’t you stand up and show us what she went through and how it felt?”

In a separate interview, Brad Pitt talks to Curry about his behind-the-scenes role as a producer on “A Mighty Heart,” which is produced by his Plan B shingle in conjunction with Revolution films. Dede Gardner and Andrew Eaton, two producers of the movie, also join Pitt in the interview. Pitt also discusses his global charity work with Jolie.
Brad Pitt, on his humanitarian work with Jolie and what people can do to help:The thing is just generating the will to understand. And that means focusing on certain events. Because it’s not all coming across our airwaves… and really investigating if something doesn’t feel right.
Generally, I would say it’s just not enough anymore to say that “it’s entertainment and enjoyment.” For me personally I’m saying, in my life, if you can move the ball forward a little bit… that’s what this is about. Where is it going to go? The interesting thing is how it evolves for me individually for myself, and watching the same with Angie. But where’s it gonna go? I’m not gonna stop.
We can have our things. And that is just getting your hands dirty, rolling up your sleeves a little bit and seeing where it takes you. And where it can, where you can best help. Where you’d be most effective. But there’s a lot of studying do.

The role was not jennifer’s when they divorced plan b and jennifer said so herself that she took the projects that she wanted mighty heart was not one of them. Marianne had final say over who was cast and jennifer was not set to play her she said she would like to nothing was confirmed and before people start with angie stole that role from her they should check their facts instead of posting up snippets from tabloids and what their take on it is. Marianne was the one who sought after angie for the role and asked her to play her she even confirmed it again yesterday at the press conference so stop jumping on the aniston pity train she should have put things straight a long time ago but we all know that’s not how she works.

Why don’t you read the article where Brad said, even while he was still married to Aniston, that they bought the rights to the book BUT THEY WERE NOT GOING TO BE IN THE MOVIE. And where did you get the idea that Mariane approved of Aniston? Didn’t you read where she personally picked Angelina?
Please, child, give it up! The movie is done, it is a critical success, ranting and raving about what was supposed to have been (in your mind) ain’t gonna change anything! Besides, if Aniston wanted an Oscar-winning role, then why doesn’t she use her $110 million and find and develop projects like what Brad does? Why depend on somebody else to do the hard work? Sandra B and Drew B find and fund their own movie projects — why can’t Aniston?

If onlookers thought things couldn’t get more glamorous, they are in for a surprise. For Angelina and Brad are among 200 A-listers who’ve splashed out on tickets costing £100,000 a head for a party on Tuesday night.
The bash, thrown aboard a £80-million super yacht moored off Cap d’Antibes, is being thrown in aid of the Darfur Crisis. Organised by Warner Bros at an estimated cost of £2.5 million, the extravagent event will feature a four-course banquet including lobster and a choice of five desserts, an outdoor Jacuzzi filled with rose petals, magicians, a casino, and surprise entertainment reportedly from rapper Snoop Dogg. Both George Clooney and Matt Damon, in town for the premiere of Brad’s film Ocean’s Thirteen, are expected to be among the revellers.

Angelina Jolie Taking a Year Off Work
Angelina Jolie has decided to take a year off to spend time with her family, PEOPLE has learned.
“I’m working this summer. I’m in Prague for a few months, then I take two months off, then I work for two months,” Jolie said Tuesday while promoting A Mighty Heart at the Cannes Film Festival. “And then I take a year off.”

Enjoyed reading the description of your sightings. I can’t say I was that keen on the brown blouse of Angelina’s but that shade of brown isn’t my colour at all. However, I guess it was a deliberate attempt not to shine too much because I think both Brad and Angelina wanted the focus to be on mariane. That’s why Mariane was in teh centre of the press conference table.
From the way Brad is protecting her all the time I think she is with child.Does this mean she is going to be shooting another movie.She is in demand.

Should Angelina Jolie be worried ? Brad Pitt and ex Jennifer Aniston are said to be planning to have a face to face meet sometime in the next two weeks.
Jennifer says she doesnt have anything against Brad and hopes they can again be friends again someday. Brad who divorced Aniston after falling in love with Angelina Jolie on the sets of Mr. and Mrs. Smith in 2005, now has a child with Jolie.

I know, I know I’m supposed to be on my way but I couldn’t resist, I just have to ask….
How is it possible that it would have been okay for JA (Blue eyed, blond haired JA) to play Marianne Pearle but there’s an hoopla over AJ playing her?
How believable will JA be in this role….I mean this is a woman who’s shown that she can barely handle a divorce she KNEW was coming. How can she play a woman who suddenly lost her husband while pregnant with their child?
I guess what I’m asking is…how can a weak woman play a strong woman?

Angelina Jolie has decided to take a year off to spend time with her family, PEOPLE has learned.
“I’m working this summer. I’m in Prague for a few months, then I take two months off, then I work for two months,” Jolie said Tuesday while promoting A Mighty Heart at the Cannes Film Festival. “And then I take a year off.”
Asked if the time off will be for her family, she replied: “Yes.”
Jolie was speaking to reporters at the exclusive Hotel du Cap while partner Brad Pitt, who produced Heart, looked after their four children in a nearby villa. It was not clear whether Pitt would also take a hiatus in 2008.
The couple walked the Cannes red carpet Monday night for the world premiere of A Mighty Heart along with Mariane Pearl, on whose memoir the film is based, and her son Adam.
The Pitt-Jolie clan will remain at their villa on the French Riviera for several more days more as Pitt premieres Ocean’s Thirteen.
Jolie also told reporters on Tuesday about her recent pilot license upgrade the possibility of flying en famille. “Brad has his pilot’s license and I just got my instrument rating, so we’re moving forward with that but we haven’t had a lot of time because of the kids and with Pax coming home,” she said.
“I wouldn’t fly the kids at this moment. I would only fly the kids if I had been actively flying for a few months and when I’m not at all rusty.”
Jolie, a Goodwill Ambassador for the UNHCR, insisted she will continue her campaign for justice around the world, even though there have been concerns for her safety: “I don’t want to live inside a box. I will be smart, but I will lead a very bold life, and I will learn about the world.”
Asked by PEOPLE how she is enjoying her time in France with her family, Jolie smiled and replied: “It’s lovely. It’s been lovely.”
