Angelina Jolie Interview by Ann Curry
Angelina Jolie sits down with NBC News’ Ann Curry to talk about A Mighty Heart, her extensive humanitarian work, Brad Pitt and their four children, and the recent death of her mother, Marcheline Bertrand.
The interview will air on The Today Show @ 7AM ET/PT and Dateline NBC @ 10PM ET/PT Wednesday, May 23.
So if I asked you, for example, right now — what’s something that’s untrue that you would like to say right now is not true… you wouldn’t know what was untrue that was written about you? No.
Nothing? No. I mean, I can assume. I know there’s a cycle of certain things that they keep rewriting or whatever, but I can assume things are made up. But no, I haven’t a clue. (laughter) And why would I, you know? There’s nothing I have to hide or defend. You know, I’m gonna live my life. And there are gonna be times when people wanna try to attack me and I don’t know why, but they will. And that’s okay.
It’s okay? Well, there are other things I’m more concerned about. My kids are healthy. I have a lot I want to do in this world. Before I do, I wanna do a lot of things as a woman, as a mom, and that’s my focus. At the end of the day, I’m gonna be dead… and what people say about me is gonna be what I accomplished and what I did in my life and how my children are.
Is there anything you’d like to say to people listening now because you now have an unedited audience here — an unedited opportunity — to give people to unvarnished truth about who you are and what you stand for. Is there anything that you want to say about yourself? No. I mean… I have always been honest about who I am, and I’ve always been very outspoken to press. I think people have heard a lot from me (laughter) over the years. And - and you do hear more, you know?… People wanna believe negative things, they will. And I can’t help that.

Jolie on her role as Mariane Pearl
It’s interesting. I was reading that you were actually six months pregnant when you first talked to Mariane. I was six months pregnant and –
But that helped you empathize? But it [did]. It was also a very interesting thing because for as much as I was kind of waddling around and feeling the heat, I couldn’t help but look over at this woman and think, “God, she is where I’m at now and I’m having — and not just the physical thing of being pregnant and, oh, that’s difficult. And I have this man with me who’s helping me through this and loves me.”
And it’s a joyous moment. And we’re about to now also have a baby, and we’re gonna look at this baby together across the room at each other. And it’s all those things that make that so much more. And to not just physically be thinking, “God, how is this woman physically dealing with trying to maintain her strength and take care of this baby that’s inside of her, working so hard and having so much emotional stress?”
But on top of it, what that took away from her. What that took away from this time in their life, this is the happiest time in their life. And what that must be. I just can’t imagine. I thought about that when I was breastfeeding. I thought about that all through kind of the birth of, you know, that haunted me and when I was sitting here quiet, I would think, “God, just a few months after, what is that like? What is that like?”
To play her was not easy. To play her at this time of her life was not easy. I’ve played real people before, but I never knew them. And, you’d think that would be easier. (laughs) I did. But the day before we started shooting, I had hardly slept and I was in a panic. I had gotten to know her and I’d gotten to know their son. And the thought that he would see this one day… It was my responsibility to not just show the world but also show him how much his mother loved his father and how much they loved each other and how they handled this time.
It was something that haunted me through the whole thing and haunted, I think, everybody involved. Nobody ever really voiced that and nobody really talked about it, but I’m sure it was something that she did become a friend.
So how do you play [that role?]- I’m sure if somebody said to you, “Your great girlfriend has gone through the most horrible thing in her life. Why don’t you stand up and show us what she went through and how it felt?”

In a separate interview, Brad Pitt talks to Curry about his behind-the-scenes role as a producer on “A Mighty Heart,” which is produced by his Plan B shingle in conjunction with Revolution films. Dede Gardner and Andrew Eaton, two producers of the movie, also join Pitt in the interview. Pitt also discusses his global charity work with Jolie.
Brad Pitt, on his humanitarian work with Jolie and what people can do to help:The thing is just generating the will to understand. And that means focusing on certain events. Because it’s not all coming across our airwaves… and really investigating if something doesn’t feel right.
Generally, I would say it’s just not enough anymore to say that “it’s entertainment and enjoyment.” For me personally I’m saying, in my life, if you can move the ball forward a little bit… that’s what this is about. Where is it going to go? The interesting thing is how it evolves for me individually for myself, and watching the same with Angie. But where’s it gonna go? I’m not gonna stop.
We can have our things. And that is just getting your hands dirty, rolling up your sleeves a little bit and seeing where it takes you. And where it can, where you can best help. Where you’d be most effective. But there’s a lot of studying do.

to #29 — oh girl, please. Jennifer would have been a disaster in that part. She can’t act her way out of a wet paper bag.
“Her latest film opposite boyfriend Vince Vaughan topped the US box office in its first week of release earning $38.1 million in its first three days.”
Must have been a slow week at the box office.
malaya Says:
Aniston was NEVER involved in the negotiations for the rights of this movie. It was Brad Pitt who woed Marriane Pearl. Mrs. Pearl gave it to him because among those who bid he was the only one who actually read the book.

konnitiwa Says:
According to Marienne Pearl’s interview given in 2003, she gave the right of the book to BRAD because he was the ONLY person who read her book among several people who negotiated with her.
According to Jennifer’s interview in 2003, she even DIDN’T read the book.
According to Brad’s interview in early 2004, NEITHER Brad NOR Jennifer planned to act in AMH. They were planning to ONLY PRODUCE this movie.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Warner which bought the right of this book from MP dropped the idea of making her book into film. ( There were no development of this book at that time).
Then in 2005 Paramount Vantage had interest in Brad’s idea and took the right from Werner. At the time the couple was already broke up. ( Jennifer has NO contribution to this process. It was ALL Brad)
According to Variety’s Brad interview, Brad’s ex has NO connection with Plan B now. (She took several projects which are attaced to Werner)

The wheel of fortune goes up and goes down so don’t be a braggart because a black heart like yours will have a reckoning one day. Spread hate, one day it will reach you or your family. What goes around comes around. If not you, your kids will pay.
Charitable persons like Brad and Angie will be showered with blessing and grace. You can bad mouth her but Somebody up there will be her armor. She will be blessed. What you sow you reap!
Good morning;I have a question,I want to know if you fans are lonely? This is new to me and I dont get how fans sit here and type about celebs you dont know. Its fascinating.
I don’t think she’s doing “The Challenging” usually at this press conferences, the reporters ask what other proyects the star in question has next, and since we don’t have any news about that, the 2 months she’s talking about she’s working after the 2 month break must be Wanted.
Huvane (Aniston’s publicist) is paying 1 hater to post and to PLANT LIES
All she does is to keep changing names and to agree on herself.

Not as fascinating as you sitting here typing about people you dislike and changing your screen name all day. Now THAT is fascinating.

laisla: Why, did she ruin your life by changing her mind? Last time I checked, we all still have the right to change our mind. Jeez, hope it never happens to you.
______________________________________________________________
Dear, dear, Dean, please dont feed the trolls.
Angie did not change her mind. The fact that trashloids religiously and with fundamentalist fervor, put words in her mouth and write it in quotation marks so that imbeciles can take it as gospel, doesnt make it so.
Earlier this year, when Angie brought home their son Pax, she said she would be taking some time to help Paz get adjusted. She didnt give a timeline because the public is not owed one.
It is a given that movie roles arent discussed today and get started in production tomorrow, therefore, it is evident that Angie and Brad know their work schedule up to a year or more in advance, so that they can structure their time and slot in all their important activities and committments.
In this latest interwiew, Angie has merely stated a specific timeline when she will not be doing any movie projects.
NOTE WELL: she DID NOT say she will not be doing ANY of her humanitarian activities during the year that she will be making no movies. As sure as the sun rises every morning, i am sure that during 2008 when Angie travels on behalf of the UN or any other charity which she actively supports, the nasties will be out in droves, pointing their fingers like so many evil witches, and demanding that Angie be burned at the stakes for what their putrid minds conceive to be her lies.
I am going to save this post just so that i can repeat it during 2008.
I heard JA was a tad upset from the fallout over AMH last night:
Huvane: Okay, it looks like it’s gonna be big. Yes, yes they looked good. Yes, yes the movie might do really good. The buzz is Oscar. For her and the movie.
Aniston: I want one too. Get my face in the tabloids by tonite. You said I would be just as famous. You lied.
Huvane: No, no I didn’t! It’s just that the right part hasn’t come in for you yet. Calm down, call Vince or maybe Cox. I cant do it all, you need to do something too.
Aniston: I did, I cried with Oprah, and did my nose and went to NY for the theater thing — hey, what happened with that? Get my pic in the tabloids now, damn it!
Huvane: Okay, let me think — yeah, that’s it, go to the plastic surgeon again. That generated a lot of publicity, they didn’t do a good job the last time anyways….Yeah, you’d better go right now.
Passing this tiny info heard in my film class
My Film professor stated the upcoming movies that we should watch for. He mentioned a Clint Eastwood’s movie that was coming, then also stated the movie The Changeling that he’ll be directing starring Angelina.

An Oscar-worthy role that was intended for Jennifer Aniston has been given to Angelina Jolie. It was announced Thursday that Jolie, 31, will play Mariane Pearl in a film adaptation of her book, A Mighty Heart:
XXXXXXXXXXXXX
STOP POSTING MISINFORMATION.
Your excerpt is from an article when the film was announced and noone knew the real facts behind the negotiations. Marianne said she only agreed to the book becoming a film after she met Brad and Angie and was convinced that the job they intended doing was what she approved, because by then she had become firm friends with Angie.
Angie played her with conviction and sensitivity because she had met her and understood her. Above all, her humanitarian work and exposure to real suffering and tragic loss NOT TO MENTION PREGNANACY, allowed her to turn the role into an Oscar-worthy performance. It is not the role per se which is Oscar-worthy… it is Angelina’s portrAyal of Marianne that is Oscar-worthy. DO YOU GET THE DIFFERENCE??!!
According to Marianne, there was no agreement with Brad and Jennifer to produce the film. Secondly Jennifer could not have played Marianne with any kind of conviction. She is not that good an actress to play Marianne with sensitivity and truth. Marianne is not a beach-loving, sun tan worshipping, physical fitness freak. She is not a smoker, boozer and lover of the “good” life. Aniston can only play what she has experienced, like having friends or a break up. Anything else she plays outside her personal experience is not convincing, for example, her pregnanacy and childbirth on Friends.
THIS WAS NEVER JEN’S ROLE. Marianne has now confirmed that. She said only agreed to the film because she trusted what Angie would do with the role. She said she trusted Angie to play her and Brad to get the concept of her husband and his life right.
Angie may be taking off due to Brad’s schedule. He is working like the rent is due….lol but hey I still hope he knocks her up
Dallas Buyer’s Club (2008) (announced)
Chad Schmidt (2008) (announced) …. Chad Schmidt/Himself
State of Play (2008) (pre-production) …. Cal McCaffrey
Dirty Tricks (2008) (pre-production) (rumored) …. John Dean
Burn After Reading (2008) (pre-production)
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008) (filming) …. Benjamin Button
The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007) (completed) …. Jesse James
Given the many upheavals this production suffered (the chaos in India, the rumblings about casting, the b.o. records for 9-11/post 9-11 fare, etc.) do haters really think that ___’s presence as actress and/or producer would have contributed anything to the final result? If anything, it would’ve been an even bigger distraction, since some would perceive her presence as some sort of consolation prize; and while it would be great for her , what about Brad? It would’ve totally undermined the whole thing and compromise his future as a producer.
And quite frankly, ___ would’ve slowed things down, with her constant need for reassurance, comfort, support and validation, which would have been even more disgusting, given that this was about Marianne and Daniel Pearl.
Well how do the fans sit on a blog all day ooohing and aaahhing over Alist celebs they dont know?

Jen is rich from her divorce settlement. Huvane, knowing Jen has a deep pocket has been hiring 1 person to PLANT LIES. Also, Huvane bought Jen the GLADD award. I am interested to know how much of her 110M will be left after Huvane sent her those big billings.
Yeah, I remember reading the Forbes richest women, Jen was #5 or 6. The last one on the rank list has 45M and Courtney’s name was NOT there. That means Courtney doesnt even have 45M. All we have to ask is what did Jen have which Courtney didnt ?
Wait till the haters read what Lainey wrote today about the friendship between Angie and Marrianne.Screaming at the ocean
angelah, I am sorry I didn’t realize you were the one who put access and ET coverage on youtube until I watched it again. Thank you very much :-)
