Ocean’s 13 By the Sea
Here is yet another helping of the Ocean’s 13 cast in Cannes…
The star-studded cast of Ocean’s Thirteen take a break from promoting their third crime caper together — George Clooney, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt, Don Cheadle and Andy Garcia — and enjoy the Eden Roc hotel in Cap d’Antibes with their families. (See first set of photos here).
Cheadle, 42, was accompanied by his two daughters Ayana and Imani.
20+ pictures inside of the awesome Ocean’s 13 cast…

Of the event not just today. All three of them have their families there. There were pictures of Matt his wife and daughters yesterday. We know Brad has his family there, now Don is in Cannes with his family.
Just a suggestion. In order to keep this thread clean let’s make a deal. No matter what the haters post DO NOT respond.
Instead, if you get the urge to respond post your favorite Shiloh picture. After all her birthday is coming up very soon. Maybe JJ can make a thread with our pictures. What do you think? I’ll start before they arrive. Then I am going to check out the new pictures I haven’t even looked at them yet:-)

Nice to see them (cast of O13) relaxing. Wish JP’s children could be there, we all know how much Princess Zee loves the water. But I do understand why they aren’t there.
they all look so hotttttt, :)
It does not seem like there will be any Darfur fundraiser photos today. It seems like any pictures will come from an exclusive with a magazine. I hope it is with People magazine.
Matt Damon looks cute.
I wanna see George Clooney without his shirt on.
Oh Lordy!! Am I the only one feeling like running a marathon here?! :D If these jumping from one thread to the next is a marathon, I would even miss the deadline. :)
Okay, trying so hard to catch up with you people. Puff, puff, hufff, huff!! Okay, Angie said she will be taking a year off right.. well, I think we should be seeing another bio child then. At least I am crossing my fingers on this one. Okay, back to catching up. PUFF….HUFF…..PFF…HHFFF…..
george is making some funny faces in these pix.

Why aren’t they there, is there some specific reason? Not that they are expected to go to every event, lol, but it sounds as though there is a certain reason. LOL at whoever said Brad wouldn’t be wearing white if MPZS were there :-)
I saw the pics of Matt’s family too, they are so cute.
Don’s daughters are indeed beautiful! I’ve never seen his girls before.
I’m glad this seems such a fun time for all these celebs. Good friends & family, can’t beat that!
George Clooney, really look likes old Hollywood!
#38: MAMS: thanks for the link. I didn’t know that Nicolosi made one of Angie too. Nice, really nice pout on our girl. Does anybody know what the size of those pictures are? They look huge. I wonder just how much they will fetch at auction?
I don’t care about Angelina, but she started to put me on nerves…. I have been working as international relief worker for free (with only food and shelter included) in the jungle for TWO years. It made me sick celebrities like Angelina who goes to Refugee camps for jus two days with a bunch of photographers for self promotion. After visiting these poor people, Angelina goes to Paris or Malibu to sip some champagne with caviar. The leftist in France called these kind the people, “caviar gauche” or Hypocrisy. Angelina, if you really care about the refugees, instead of being mom for the next whole year, please spend at least one year with the refugees and do some real work to help them, not to promote in name of them
Don’t feed the trolls and haters please :-)
I just posted very cute pics from cannes at the premiere but why waiting in moderation :(
Troll alert! says:
Thank you for reminding me. I was gonna respond to that fake poster (#44) but that’s probably another Huvaniston paid troll who’s trying another angle of attack.
I will just enjoy drooling at the pictures of these handsome boys and watching all the entertainment shows … I still am in Brangelina heaven!!!
hey don’t make a fake story that you work for international relief for the jungle, which jungle having free food????, why angelina must be stay with the refugees for almost one year ???, you stay there, learning about refugees, then make us a real story, you just waiting the pictures of Darfur charity, don’t you?

If you put more than one link it will go into moderation. It will eventually appear but it will take a bit.
Try sending them one a time.
Anyway, the pics are from Abaca they are posted at souliejolie in the last page of the premiere post.

Angelina bring attention to the people who would otherwise not get the chance to be seen or heard. Thats the job of a UN Goodwill Ambassador. But if you were a real relief worker you would know that. Another thing you bitter old hag, you sound jealous of her lifestyle too bad you will never have it. You wouldn’t even know how to enjoy it you sound so bitter.

Critics Praise Angelina Jolie’s ‘Mighty’ Role
LOS ANGELES (May 22, 2007) — Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt took Cannes by storm this week, when the super couple hit the south of France to premiere Angie’s new film, “A Mighty Heart.”
And if the early reviews are any indication, it looks like Oscar’s first contender has been found.
Critics are praising Angelina’s portrayal of Mariane Pearl, the widow of slain Wall Street Journalist Daniel Pearl, who was kidnapped and murdered in Pakistan in 2002.
“Angelina Jolie delivers a well-measured and moving performance,” says the Hollywood Reporter, adding she “plays her with respect and a firm grasp on a difficult accent influenced by France and Cuba. She has a powerful scene in which she lets out a shriek of grief that will be recognized wherever people suffer from terror and loss.”
The film, directed by Michael Winterbottom, the film is based on Mariane’s memoir after her husband’s death “A Mighty Heart: The Brave Life and Death of My Husband Daniel

Dear Ms/Mr Fake: If you were truly a humanitarian and volunteer, you would already know by now that Ms. Jolie is highly respected in the philanthopic community. I believe you are the fake and I usually don’t respond to charlatans and fabricators, but Ms. Jolie has suffered enough personal attacks by so many who never have learned the golden rule. By the way, why don’t you learn a little about the person you are so quick to judge. She is a committed and effective representative of the worlds most vulnerable. Hope you learn to spread light rather than your poison seeds.
Hayden Panettiere
Panettiere prefers her own definition of “crazy”: “Discovering who I am and enjoying myself. I’m not talking drugs. I’m talking about traveling the world and seeing different things. Possibly doing what Angelina Jolie does — to go over there and bring food.”
Before rolling your eyes, consider that Panettiere spent several months living in South Africa while shooting the 2005 family film Racing Stripes.
After the project ended, Panettiere chose to stay in Africa to complete her freshman year of high school.
“It was definitely eye-opening, seeing shantytowns,” she says. “It makes you thankful for what you have, but at the same time you admire how simple life is in other places.”

WildAid
Devotion to Cambodia
In 2003, actress Angelina Jolie requested WildAid’s help in carrying out a “Threats and Needs” assessment in Samlaut, Cambodia’s Northwestern region. The project, named after Angelina’s adopted Cambodian son Maddox, has since grown into a conservation and community development organization in rural Cambodia that provides direct support to the local villages, endangered wildlife and habitats to achieve a sustainable path to economic development, balancing conservation and economic rejuvenation.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt remain active in the organization as co-Presidents with Stephan Bognar acting as Executive Director.

Pitt Still in Love with Aniston
By WENN | Thursday, May 12, 2005
HOLLYWOOD - Brad Pitt is still in love with estranged wife Jennifer Aniston because he
respects the way she’s dealing with their divorce.
The movie star opened his breaking heart to men’s magazine GQ just days after
Aniston filed for divorce in March.
In the interview, Pitt says of the break-up, “It’s so complex and
multifaceted. We’ve done it our way and I love her for that. We’ve kept the love we havefor each other.”
The movie hunk refused to confirm or deny a romance with Mr. & Mrs. Smith
co-star Angelina Jolie, but he was optimistic about his divorce and
philosophical about the break-up of his marriage.
He adds, “The thing that I don’t understand is looking at this as a failure.
It’s talked about like it failed, I guess because it wasn’t flawless.
“I embrace the messiness of life. I find it so beautiful, actually. The idea
that marriage has to be for all time, that I don’t understand.”
The actor also admits he wanted to “punch” out the “lights” of journalists
who wrote “cruel” things about the split couple just to “get a rise out of her
(Aniston)”.

Angie’s devotion to Cambodian Helth Center
In June of 2006, this six-year old child was near death due to TB and AIDS.It has been more than 12 years since the Cambodian Health Committee (CHC) began its work in the tuberculosis (TB) wards of three district hospitals in what was in 1994 a poorly accessible and impoverished area of Cambodia bordering Vietnam, Svay Rieng Province. Since that time, more than 10,000 people with TB in Svay Rieng and in another poor and war-impacted province, Kompot have been cured due to the CHC’s efforts and thousands of villagers have been educated about TB and AIDS and participated in microcredit programs to increase their income. Policies of the Cambodian National TB program have been modeled on CHC approaches. Building upon the success of the TB program, CHC now cares for over 2,000 people in provincial AIDS treatment programs in Svay Rieng and Kompot in collaboration with the Cambodian National AIDS Program.
After four months of therapy, he continued to gain strength, is learning to read like other six-year olds, and is attending the MCCC on a daily basis.CHC works to decrease the human suffering caused by TB, AIDS, and poverty with the conviction that all people can be cured of TB, be treated for AIDS, and can lead healthy lives. Through direct care, the development of novel approaches to TB and AIDS care in rural and urban settings that target the poorest in the society, and through advocacy to ensure that all people who need drugs for TB and AIDS have access, the CHC is fighting these two infectious diseases that are are among the most deadly in the world. Over 8 million people develop TB every year and 2 million people die, many also stricken with AIDS, which has destroyed their immune systems and made them more susceptible to TB. It is in fact estimated by the World Health Organization that TB is the largest cause of death in the setting of AIDS and has been the cause of up to half of all the estimated 30 million deaths caused by AIDS to date.
Marie-Pierre Fernandez, director of the MCCC, Angelina Jolie, and co-founder of the CHC Anne Goldfeld with a child who currently attends the Maddox Chivan Children’s Center during a visit by Jolie and Brad Pitt in November of 2006.The impact of CHC can be seen in the pictures on this page. At just six years of age, the boy in the top picture had already lost his mother due to AIDS. He was brought to the Maddox Chivan Children’s Center (MCCC), which CHC opened in February 2006. CHC staff found that he had a temperature of 104° F, TB, and end-stage AIDS. After treatment with TB and AIDS medicines, he became a regular attendee at the MCCC and has reclaimed his childhood. He joins 200 other children who have family members who are suffering from AIDS or who are themselves infected with the virus that causes AIDS.
We thank you for taking the time to learn more about the problems of TB and AIDS in Cambodia and hope that you will be interested in joining our efforts to provide access to treatment of these terrible but treatable diseases and to provide those afflicted with opportunities to build new lives. Please consider donating to help us in our cause by clicking on the link below.

Another Lainey account - this was posted on canada’s ctv website
In the presence of Brad & Angie
by Lainey on Tue 22 May 2007 08:28 AM EDT | Permanent Link | Cosmos
As a reporter, being on the road, interviewing celebrities often every day, rarely do you encounter the true stars-the ones who walk around with a spotlight and actually live up to that expectation. Inevitably they are for the most part just people like us, only with extraordinary jobs.
Brad Pitt however is a rare beast. Brad Pitt is a mega mega star. And in person, he does not come up short. However, Brad Pitt in combination with Angelina Jolie???
Well now that’s just a regular, garden variety supernova.
I was huddled with what seemed like the entire press corps yesterday during the press conference for A Mighty Heart. And even a jaded press corps, not a crowd of hysterical fans, even a jaded press corps will get jacked up for Brad and Angelina.
I have to tell you — they walked out and the earth moved. What I mean is that the moment they were in view, the moment these two ridiculously beautiful creatures blessed us with their presence, every journalist surged. Some actually squealed. I think I let out a little peep too. But don’t tell.
Still, let’s not forget why they were there. The movie is called A Mighty Heart. Angelina plays Mariane Pearl, widow of slain journalist Daniel Pearl who was killed in Pakistan in 2002 when Mariane was 6 months pregnant.
This is a woman who has survived and who continues to survive unspeakable tragedy. And instead of railing at the world and begrudging humanity for its cruelty, she has instead chosen to live with dignity and share her experience in the hopes that no one will have to suffer how she suffered.
The film has been very well received and as such has elevated Brad Pitt and Angelina to even higher iconic status.
And finally, because I am first and foremost and always a gossip lover, they are still totally in love. Totally touchy feely, totally hot for each other. And I totally can’t get enough.
Yours in gossip,
Lainey

Tom Ford Cannes Do
Brad Pitt dons designer’s new line for festival
Tuesday, May 22, 2007
(CANNES) Brad Pitt, famous as he is, seems consistently overshadowed by his loves, be they Jennifer Aniston or Angelina Jolie—both of whom garner the lion’s share of paparazzi attention wherever they go.
Tom Ford is about to change all that.
While the relationship isn’t official like the one Reese Witherspoon enjoys with Olivier Theyskens for Nina Ricci, Ford, who recently launched a namesake men’s line and a Madison Avenue flagship to house it all, said he recently completed fittings with the actor in Los Angeles for his several public appearances at the Cannes Film Festival this week, which include the world premieres of A Mighty Heart and Ocean’s Thirteen. “Brad always looked too scruffy,” Ford said. “I wanted him to look chic, like a true movie star. Plus, he’s not a bad man to clean up.”
On Monday night, while Pitt’s paramour donned a vintage Pierre Balmain Haute Couture Chantilly lace cocktail dress she acquired at Decades, the actor appeared a new man clad in Ford’s made-to-measure black wool peak lapel three-piece tuxedo, which he wore with a white piquet plastron shirt, black velvet bow tie, and black patent leather shoes. The icing on the cake came in form of diamond studs and cufflinks, all from Ford’s collection, natch. This followed a press conference earlier in the day, where he wore a slightly more casual, albeit stunning, Tom Ford made-to-measure grey suit, shirt, shoes and cufflinks. “I never wear a tie during the day; it gives me headaches,” Ford said. Looks like Pitt has found himself a new role model.

Angelina Jolie, Pitt Help Namibian Ranch Become Wildlife Reserve
A UN Goodwill Ambassador’s work is apparently never done, as word that Angelina Jolie and honey Brad Pitt visited a special Namibian ranch in an effort to bolster their efforts to become a full-fledged wildlife reserve.
The Insider reports that shortly before their daughter Shilow Nouvel was born, the duo visited the Harnas Ranch taking their adopted children Zahara and Maddox along.
The Harnas Ranch was once a cattle farm, but is now a ranch dedicated to saving endangered wild animals in Namibia, Africa. Now the Harnas Wildlife Foundation, they hope to turn the ranch into a nature reserve where orphaned animals can be released.
Jolie reportedly learned of Harnas back in 2003, and The Insider has a black and white photo in which she posed with an orphaned cheetah during her first visit to the ranch.
So far, the actress has donated $250,000 to their organization.

Angelina Jolie: Newsweek interview March 10, 2007
Do you worry about people who say this is celebrity tourism?
I don’t know if anybody saying that has spent the last six years of their life going to over 30 camps and really spending time with these people. I can’t care. At the end of the day, I’m sure a lot of criticism could keep a lot of people from doing this kind of work…
If someone had a direct criticism of my opinion on the issue, if someone had a direct criticism of the image shown because they think it hurts somebody then I will take that into consideration. But there are a lot of people that simply have an immediate gut reaction and they just don’t want to combine artists with foreign policy. And hey, I understand. I get it. I know where you’re coming from. And to each his own. … You know, I was more shy when I first went into a camp that other field officers would not want me there.
You were worried that you’d get in the way.
Yeah. That’s why I brought no media, it’s why I sat back. That’s why I just helped them load things. And if I felt that I was ever getting in the way, I wouldn’t do it. Because I do care about the opinion of the aid worker, I do care about the opinion of the refugee. I care less about the opinion of the person who’s never been in the field but has an opinion about celebrity.
I agree only/me if my finance tells me that marriage doesn’t have to be for all time, then you have to go in that marriage with the reality that’s its not going to last and don’t be shocked when it does or not marry the guy to begin with, because lets face it when brad made that quote this was not a fairy tale marriage, this was an eventual out-it doesn’t sound romantic to me but a business arrangement,i’m not saying he didn’t love her but by him saying that she wasn’t the love of his life.
Backstubbing ex-husband to boost her career
“When Brad and Jen were in the marriage, having a baby was not his priority—ever,” says one mutual friend. “It was an abstract desire for him, whereas for Jen it was much more immediate. So is there a part of Brad that’s diabolical? Did he think, I need to get out of this marriage, but I want to come out smelling like a rose, so I’m going to let Jen be cast as the ultra-feminist and I’m going to get cast as the poor husband who couldn’t get a baby and so had to move on?”

Botswana’s Bushmen Ask Angelina Jolie For Help, June 2, 2006
Botswana’s Kalahari Bushmen are seeking the support of Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie in their fight to reclaim their ancestral lands, a London-based organisation supporting them said on Thursday.
Jolie — a United Nations Children’s Fund ambassador — is currently in neighbouring Namibia, having recently given birth to a daughter, Shiloh, her first child with fellow actor Brad Pitt.
“We have heard that you are very interested in human rights,” reads the open letter to Jolie from Bushman organisation First People of the Kalahari and released by Survival International. “The government is trying to destroy us and we are asking for your help in our battle to save our people.”
Survival International, which helps tribal people “defend their lives, protect their lands and determine their own futures”, has waged a 30-year campaign in support of the San Bushmen.
It maintains they were driven out of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve — one of the world’s largest sanctuaries — to make way for diamond mining, a claim the government has denied.
The government in the capital, Gaborone, has maintained that it resettled the Bushmen in villages where it could provide them with water and social amenities.
Writing before the birth, the Bushmen extended their “blessing and good luck” to Jolie on her pregnancy.
They added: “Those who remain inside the game reserve are not allowed to hunt and gather and have no access to water.
“The health situation is bad in the resettlement camps. Young people are getting HIV and are drinking. This is not the way of our people. The death rate is now high.”
About 240 San Bushmen have taken the Botswana government to court to secure the legal right to return to the reserve they have called home for the past 20 000 years.
Once numbering millions, roughly 100 000 San are left in Southern Africa, with almost half of those — 48 000 — in Botswana. Others are spread across Angola, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe. — Sapa-AFP
Liberian refugee women stitch together new future after Angelina Jolie skills course
LARGO CAMP, Sierra Leone, Feb. 23 (UNHCR) – There was an atmosphere of joy and jubilation in Largo refugee camp last week when 50 Liberian refugee women each received a sewing machine after successfully completing a sewing skills course, funded by UNHCR’s goodwill ambassador Angelina Jolie.
“Today, our dreams have come true and for this we are very grateful. When we came to the camp, we did not know anything. But, with the skills that we have learned, we now know how to sew both for children and adults, we can return to Liberia and will be able to do something on our own,” said Sangay Kawala on behalf of the trainees.
At the graduation ceremony the refugees sang songs in praise of Angelina Jolie and UNHCR. The Goodwill Ambassador donated the funds for the sewing courses in four refugee camps in Sierra Leone, including buying some of the sewing machines distributed to participants. UNHCR also helped fund the sewing machine purchase in Largo camp.
“I would like to congratulate all of you on the completion of your training. You deserve the certificates and sewing machines,” UNHCR’s Kenema sub-office head Ibrahima Coly said to loud cheers and applause. Coly encouraged the refugees to use their sewing machines to help them stitch together a new future and help others.
The majority of the group and their families have signed up to repatriate back to Liberia shortly, joining some 50,000 Liberian refugees from around West Africa who have now returned home since the official repatriation started. Back in Liberia, their sewing skills will be crucial to help them restart their lives.
“The future is now in your hands. Please make the best use of it. I would also like to appeal to you to kindly assist to train other refugees or returnees who were not privileged to get the machines. I wish you all good luck in your future career,” Coly told the happy graduates.
The main aim of the sewing project was to build the capacity of refugee nursing mothers, improving their nutritional status by giving them skills to generate income, says training programme coordinator Magdalene Dakowa of Catholic Relief Services. Another aim was for the sewing groups in each of the camps to produce 500 baby clothes for refugee children.
The initial six-month training project started in January 2004. The course was so successful that the trainees went on to produce children’s clothes for both refugees and host communities as a way of continuing their career development. During this period the women in Largo camp were contracted to produce school uniforms by one of UNHCR’s partners. The graduation ceremony marked the conclusion of their career training.
Funds for the project were also used to help 500 other refugee women improve their backyard gardening, again to help improve the nutritional status of the refugees.
At the graduation ceremony, five trainers of the project – three men and two women – also each received one machine. One of the trainers, Isata Koroma, came from the host community.
“The sewing machine that I have received will help me and my family,” said Isata. “I am a single mother. My husband was killed in the war in my country, Sierra Leone, and it has been really difficult for me to take care of our seven children. I am very grateful for this assistance.”
There are eight refugee camps in Sierra Leone hosting some 46,000 refugees, with most coming from Liberia’s most devastated Lofa County. With the positive changes taking place in Liberia UNHCR is now actively promoting voluntary repatriation for an estimated 160,000 Liberian refugees still outside their homeland. Some 46,000 Liberian refugees remain in camps in Sierra Leone with Largo camp hosting 5,300 refugees.

Yours in gossip,
Lainey

Thanx again j@r3d for this new other thread! Hopefully there’ll be social gatherings including their entire fam in the near future!!!

I like that statement by Lainey. It’s so true. You shut up your critics by doing an outstanding job. I am so proud of AJ, and I am sure BP is ten times more proud of her than I am.
As for the clothes they wore on the red carpet, it’s not Saint John for her, and it’s Tom Ford for him. I love both their look. Impeccable, flawless.

This follows a press conference earlier in the day, where he wore a slightly more casual, albeit stunning, Tom Ford made-to-measure grey suit, shirt, shoes and cufflinks. “I never wear a tie during the day; it gives me headaches,” Ford said. Looks like Pitt found himself a new role model.

Foregoing the ‘baggage’ talk…
Did anyone else watch the ET interview with George/Matt and Brad/Don? Major pi$$ing contest going, I must say.
The interview focused on the typical things: George, being the odd man out since he’s childless and woman-less. George referred to the rest of the guys as deserters. George added that Pitt had it the worst– being huddled down with kids and having to endure an ugly, ugly wife. ;)The interviewer asked if they were this generation’s Rat Pack; Don and Brad said no. Brad said that they don’t party nearly as much as the Rat Pack… with the exception of George.
And for those who are worried… Brad’s hair looked fine. ;)

CANNES FILM FESTIVAL
For Angelina Jolie, her most difficult role
Because of her high regard for Mariane Pearl, the actress worried greatly about properly portraying her in ‘A Mighty Heart.’
By Kenneth Turan, Times Staff Writer
Cannes, France —
IF you believe the tabloid press, or even if you don’t, Angelina Jolie hasn’t lacked for experiences in her life. However, her relationship with Mariane Pearl, widow of murdered Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl, brought her in contact with something completely new.
“It’s the first time,” the actress says, an indefinable expression crossing a face so striking it can be difficult to look at straight on, “I’ve had a friendship with a journalist.”
To have attended the afternoon news conference after the well-received screening of “A Mighty Heart,” the Michael Winterbottom-directed film about the Pearls’ story, is to glimpse why this is true. Bizarre even by Cannes’ elastic standards, the event featured an argument between journalists as to whether Pearl should answer in French or English as well as a public apology by another reporter for a question he’d asked Pearl in Pakistan in the aftermath of her husband’s death.
It is now several hours later and Jolie, whose forceful, immediate performance as Mariane Pearl is the heart of Winterbottom’s taut, involving film, is seated on the nearly deserted terrace of the Hotel du Cap, displaying the same level-headed focus and intelligence that enables her to survive the Cannes madness without a glove being laid on her.
Jolie’s friendship with Pearl, as it turns out, considerably predates the film. “Like most people in the world, I assumed Danny would be returned,” she remembers of Pearl’s 2002 kidnapping and execution in Pakistan. “When he wasn’t, I was moved by Mariane’s strength, I was shocked by it. To be able to speak about her love for that country, her thoughts about the other Pakistani men who lost their lives in the same period, I didn’t know where that came from. I didn’t think I could have done it.”
United by an interest in Buddhism and motherhood, the women scheduled “a play date” and a friendship began. When Pearl’s autobiographical book came out and Brad Pitt’s Plan B became the producer of the film, “when actor choices came up, it was Mariane who happened to mention me to him.” At that point, the future romantic companions “were just getting to know each other as friends.”
Because of this connection, Jolie (who said during the news conference that as late as “the night before shooting began, I didn’t know whether I could do it”) had great worries about the project.
“My fear,” she says, her hands playing with a small plastic water bottle, “was whether we could find any possible way to do this and make it feel close, make it feel real. If not it would be some melodrama, some woman’s story. We used to talk about the day Mariane hears about Danny’s death with the camera slowly coming in for a close-up. And I’d say, ‘I don’t see how this is going to work.’ ”
Because of these fears, Jolie considers “A Mighty Heart” “the most difficult thing I’ve ever done. To represent somebody you truly respect, who has a very strong public presence and a lot of private pain, to try to embody all the elements of her in the right way, so people would feel a connection, it was something I really worried about.
“To get this wrong …,” she concludes, almost shuddering as she remembers the possibility. “It was really horrible.”
That Pearl pronounced herself pleased with the result is in part because of the decision to hire Winterbottom, the British director whose previous films include “In This World” and “The Road to Guantanamo.” Winterbottom is known for an ability to bring the texture of reality to dramatic stories, and his rigorous sensibility enhances the film’s emotional content.
One of the curious places Pearl’s story connects with Jolie’s are the moments when both have had to deal with hoards of insistent journalists camping out at their front door. “It did feel familiar at moments,” Jolie admits a bit reluctantly, adding “my immediate thought was, ‘My God, I know what it’s like to go through that on an everyday basis, but I have no idea what it feels like to go through it when your husband has been taken or killed. And when you’ve never seen it before.’ ”
Asked about her methods of coping with the media madness that follows in her wake, Jolie gestures toward a small building on the hotel grounds. “Right behind you I’ve got four kids, and there it’s quiet, peaceful, it’s a lovely day,” she says. “I focus on all the luck I have, and nothing else matters. We [she and Pitt] have a very full life, they keep us well distracted. When you know the truth of your life, when you know the person you are, there is very little that can affect that.”
Though she was raised by her mother, also helping is Jolie’s experiences as the daughter of movie star Jon Voight. “I did know from an early age that a celebrity, an actor, is very much just a human being,” she says. “You shouldn’t believe the hype, you shouldn’t believe the criticism, you shouldn’t get lost in the hype. There were no rose-colored glasses.”
There are, in fact, even more connections between Jolie’s life and Mariane Pearl’s. The actress relates that one of the last scenes in “A Mighty Heart,” Mariane’s first TV interview after Daniel’s death, ended up being shot in the United States. “By some strange twist,” she says, “my mother passed away just before we shot that. It was such a great reminder of Mariane’s strength in that moment and how lucky I was to have had all those years with my mother.
“When I went on set, everyone was saying, ‘I’m so sorry for your loss’ to me, and then they were saying the same thing to me as Mariane in the scene. It was really strange.”

I mean most tabloid whores are JOKES..i.e. Paris, Lindsay, Britney, Nicole, Anna Nicole, Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes, etc.. Hopefully Angie doesn’t stoop that low when it comes to public image/respect.

See to me, I don’t think it affects her image with the people that really matter. The way the rags constantly attack her with obvious cruelty makes some people in and out of the industry also feel for her. If even with all those attacks you have people like Bill O’Reilley, Joe Scarborough, Elizabeth Hasselbeck, who were all among the loudest anti-Angie people you can find, recognizing her good works then you know that Angie is fine.

If I recall correctly, last year’s VH1 special was lacking. They would show pictures/names of those on the list and expand on the nominees only if she was available to do a little interview.
Unlike 100 Hottest or 40 Hottest Stars over 40, they didn’t have comedians, random celebs, ‘experts’, etc. pontificating on the list
I may be wrong, but don’t get your hopes up.
Love all O13 pictures, specially the first 2, where I see Brad enjoying himself. It’s nice to see that he hasn’t forgot how to laugh. He is really having fun.
Of course he is having fun…she is not there with him to annoy him. He feels totally free, at least for the moment.
CANNES’ ROYAL COUPLE
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt stop red-carpet traffic with their arrival at the premiere of A Mighty Heart, based on the book about journalist Daniel Pearl’s terrorist killing. Jolie plays his widow, Mariane, who also attended the fest. “I was very, very nervous to get it right,” she told reporters.

Yours in gossip,
Lainey

I’m no Maniston fan. I just don’t think Angelina deserves all the admiration you guys are giving her. She is annoying! And even though I know people change and learn with experience, she is not the classy lady she is trying to portray. She never was, she is not and she never will. And now, to make matter worse, on her last interview, she tries to play a martyr role. She says she knows people hate her but that she doesn’t understand why. Now I wonder, how in the world she comes to that conclusion if she says she doesn’t pay attention to the media or the tabloids. It’s all the guilty feeling. And for someone who says she likes to read to educate herself, well it seems she doesn’t have too many living neurons on her brain if she doesn’t know the answer to her question.
honey you’re confuse i was talking to the poster who has the name MANISTON FANS:MOVE ON i was not talking to you unless you 2kids2 and maniston fans: move on are the same person-
I don’t know why but this picture makes me laugh. I hadn’t seen it before.
Poor Brad is trying to answer a question to this woman who is given the finger pointing.
Angie is talking to this red haired woman who should change that color as soon as possible. Wait it was the hair color that made me notice her. She can keep it, it makes her stand out. :-)

Thanks QQQQ.
I know we shouldn’t post in response to the haters/idiots but I have to say this to revisiting….honey they are broken up a loooooooooonnnnnnnnnggggg time ago….let it GO it will make your life much better b/c Brad is with a person his co stars/friends call his wife and the mother of his children.
great idea nisha- let the troll post all night you can’t change the past-its going on three years you can’t change that-lol
Goodness, those trolls, they don’t like Angie & Brad and yet they are here everyday, 24/7, come on out of that closet of your…I know deep down inside you loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee themmmmmmmmmm.
a smart person doesn’t have to say I’m smart…but the trolls, has to tell everyone they are smart everyday.
a happy person doesn’t have to say I’m happy, with 2 children, with a lovely husband everyday…but the trolls has to do it, because if not they will forget about their “imagination family” when they are here…sad sad sad. Well, Frankly my dear, we don’t give a dammmmmmmmmmmmmm.
a fan for Brad and Angie, doesn’t need to tell everyone they are a fans, but the trolls, has to reassure everyone they are not X’s fans everyday. * rolled eyes*, even worst, posting it in Brad and Angie’s thread….now that’s not very smart at all.
revisiting is trying to derail the conversation. Please ignore.
Okay. What is wrong with X fan?
They are holing onto old stories and can not move forward - their character is exactly like their idol.

Jennifer Makes Good -
Oh-so-sunny in friends, Aniston gets serious in her new film.
True or false? Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt have stopped smoking in order to have a baby. “False,” says Aniston. “We do want to have a baby. We will eventually quit smoking.”
Aniston, 33, is perched on her living-room sofa in her little house tucked into the Hollywood Hills. The only thing smoking at the moment is a stick of incense on the coffee table. Aniston is playing a game of true or false, in which the reporter reads aloud some factoids gleaned from the tabloids. True or false? Aniston and her husband exist in a perpetually stoned state, barely visible to each other through a haze of marijuana smoke.
“False,” says Aniston, adding that if she were stoned, “I’d barely be able to have a conversation with you.” Aniston likes this game, and soon she is recalling all the outlandish things she has read about herself. “Also,” she says, “I don’t crush aspirin into my shampoo for my flaky scalp.”
Right now, Aniston is one of the most recognizable and written-about women on the planet. Even as she was winning raves from critics last week for her performance in The Good Girl, a dark little independent comedy, she could be seen on the front page of a tabloid that promised details of her stormy marriage to the equally photogenic Pitt. (According to the tab, she hates her movie-star husband’s scraggly beard. “False,” she says.)
Amid all the hullabaloo surrounding her personal life - entire forests have been denuded in order to detail her grooming habits - Aniston’s impressive traits as an actress are often ignored: her unfailing comic timing and her surprising range. Friends, NBC’s impeccably prepared weekly meal of comfort food, seemed to be rediscovered by audiences after Sept. 11, and what they found was Aniston’s Rachel, pregnant and torn between two suitors; in the cliff-hanger season finale, she gave birth. Soon thereafter, Aniston scored an Emmy nomination. She has been likened to Mary Tyler Moore, who as Mary Richards created a similar mixture of yearning, courage and frustration. “Jen doesn’t like to overwork things,” says Friends co-star Matt LeBlanc. “She has a real fresh loose-cannon-y thing about her that’s real exciting to work with.”During her breaks from the series, Aniston has journeyed to the big screen, usually in romantic comedies, but like the five other Friends, she has had trouble convincing the world she can play something beyond her cute TV persona. “Yeah, keep your day job,” says Aniston, laughing. “If we didn’t have that pressure of being the Friends cast, we’d get away scot-free.”
All that changed last week with the release of The Good Girl. Now Aniston is getting the best reviews of her career - the kind of reviews that can lead to Oscar nominations. In the film, she stars as Justine, a small-town Texas woman with a dead-end job behind the makeup counter of a discount store called the Retail Rodeo. Married to a lug (John C. Reilly) who is lacking in both smarts and sperm count, Justine embarks on a disastrous affair with a troubled young co-worker (Jake Gyllenhaal). It was screenwriter Mike White (see box) who came up with the idea of casting Aniston. “I thought it would be fresh,” he says. “Who wouldn’t want to see America’s sweetheart get blackmailed for sex and try to institutionalize her boyfriend and cheat on her husband? I just wasn’t sure she’d respond to the material.” Aniston responded immediately: “It felt like an opportunity - a terrifying opportunity - to go out there on a limb.”
With a salary of $1 million per episode of Friends, she knew that she would have to take a drastic pay cut for the low-budget movie, and that she would have to de-Rachel herself - drop the bouncy walk and the fluttery hand movements. “There’s no lilt in Justine,” says Aniston. “Life is hanging on her shoulders. On our first day of rehearsing, my acting coach said, ‘Sit on your hands.’ You don’t realize you do these things. No wonder everybody says, ‘She’s Rachel, she’s Rachel, she’s Rachel.’”
Aniston swears she doesn’t know if Rachel will end up with Joey or Ross, or neither (shooting on the series resumes this week), but she is certain the ninth season of Friends will be its last. “Enough with the ‘We’re gonna stay, we’re leaving,’ and then ‘No, we’re not,’” she says. The success of The Good Girl is a good omen for her post-Friends employment prospects. Her movie career got another boost recently when she signed to co-star in the new Jim Carrey comedy, Bruce Almighty.
True or false? The Aniston-Pitt marriage is on the rocks; he’s a homebody, and she prefers parties and premieres. “False,” says Aniston. “What’s fun about a premiere?” Aniston’s most endearing trait may be that she’s wholly lacking in movie-star pretension. She and Pitt are frequently spotted hanging out in L.A., easygoing and accessible, without an entourage or phalanx of bodyguards. They are often trailed by a photographer, but she doesn’t gripe about the press. Not usually, anyway. Aniston recently settled–”amicably”–a lawsuit against two magazine publishers for running topless photos of her in 1999. “You pick your battles,” she says. “I drew the line when someone crawled into my backyard and took a naked photo of me.”
Except for the dozens of pricey sunglasses on a table by the front door, you wouldn’t know a star lived in this modest house high above Sunset Boulevard. Books and papers are stacked everywhere. Part of the living room is a makeshift office. She has outgrown the place, yet her eyes well up when she talks about selling it. “I’m having moving-on anxiety,” she says. “But it will be on the market when we get closer to moving into our damn home.” That home is a stately mansion she and Pitt purchased in Beverly Hills for a reported $14 million. True or false? “That’s something else,” she says. “How expensive this mansion is. I’m not going to tell you how much it cost, but it’s not …” She stops herself, feeling silly for complaining. “It’s funny to me,” she says. “Whatever.” With that, she shrugs and moves on to the next question

Angelina didn’t go! She stayed in the hotel :(
From E!
I just got an email from a friend who is at the Hotel du Cap, the ritzy hotel where all the major stars stay during the Cannes Film Festival.
And as I write this, the hotel is packed with the ultrafamous.
Angelina Jolie had been hanging out with friends in the lobby but almost went unrecognized because she was so dressed down. But then she got up and everyone saw her as she greeted Matt Damon and his wife, Luciana, who were coming in from the Ocean’s Thirteen benefit aimed at ending genocide in the Darfur region of western Sudan.
A few minutes later, Brad Pitt, George Clooney and Don Cheadle walked in, followed by Andy Garcia and Ellen Barkin.
James Bond hunk Daniel Craig hung at the bar, but he almost went unnoticed, too.
Why? Because, my pal reports, he’s currently sportin’ some major facial hair
I’m reposting this for anyone who did not see it.
Here is the Inside Edition coverage of Brad and Angie at Cannes that shows Brad and Angie walking inside the theatre and there is a standing ovation and thunderous applause from the crowd inside the theatre. :)

Clooney Studio has a great clip of interviews with George, Matt, Brad and Don - you have to download it under “TG5 News (Italy). Problem is that the Italian translation makes it difficult to hear the answers - there’s a mention of Angie and Monica Bellucci being in the next Ocean film - I can’t hear George’s complete response but I’m sure its flattering to Angie. Try to listen - here’s the link

According Marc Malkin angelina was a no show at the dafur event, she was hanging out at the hotel lobby instead with friends.
Here is a clip where you can see the standing ovation and applause that Angie and Brad received alone with Micheal W.

Please answer this question. Why do you come to this site every day if you are not a fan. I am no fan of Paris Hilton, so whenever I see articles about her, I ignore it. Why would you waste your energy coming to this site and ***** about Angie? What do you gain from this? Please don’t give some long winded b.s. Just tell us why.
DON’T BELIEVE ANYTHING FROM E ABOUT ANGIE
That’s true , there has been no reliable news on who was at the event.
The GGTOU, I think, needed attention. It was a small movie.
For the GG event, I think it was totally to support Brad - it was award event.
However, in this O13 premier, there are other cast members who need spot light.
If Angie is there with Brad, the spot light will be on Brad/Angie, and cameras will all go crazy focusing on them.
I love to see Angie with Brad in O13 premier.

I could see her not going and I don’t think she went tonight because they don’t want to risk being over exposed. There is still a few tv interviews and other things going on. They’ll have a lot more to promote and other premiers to attend in the next couple of months.
i don’t think angies would stay in cannes for 4 1/2 days just to attend her premiere and not brads-if that was the case they could have left the children in prague and angie could’ve flown back and left brad in cannes for the o13 premiere.

This is the post she is answering to:
Some people both male and female get perverse pleasure out of being bad and treacherous, knowing that they can get away with it. It’s better to have boring friends who have integrity than fun friends who stab you in the back.
Here’s what twokids2 had to say about that, which to me sounds like an accurate description of her.
Hi Clik, you are so right. I learned this lesson a couple of years ago. I’ve also learned that time really does heal all wounds… even if at the time you feel you’ll never get over the hurt, it really does subside. I still need to learn how to forgive and move on at a faster pace. I’ve spent too much of my own time dwelling on relationships that are not worth keeping. I’ve noticed such a difference in how men react to similar situations. They just move on and don’t look back. (At least this is how my husband reacts and I wish I could be this way as well.)

Yeah, right. 2kids2 is someone who can’t get over relationships that are not worth keeping … I wonder if she realizes that the fact that, in her own words, her husband is capable of moving on and not looking back should scare the hell out of her. He might just pack up and leave such a two-faced, lying, bitter bully.
And there is more…
Uh, why the hell is it a big deal that Angie did not go to this event? Now, if people were upset because they knew the reason why she didn’t go, then they’ve got a point. But, since NONE of us know the reason why she didn’t go, I don’t find anything wrong with it. Don’t let the haters get to you. Their job is to rile us up.

Goodness, I sure hope you’re teaching your kids to do as you say and not as you do. I mean for the last three days (maybe even more coz I suspect you change your handle regularly…Jennifer Pitt, anyone?). Anyway for the past couple of days, You have posted here over and over again, yet you say you find her annoying. I find it troubling since it’s by YOUR OWN volition you’re here….I mean it’s one thing if you had a gun pointed to your head, it’s another to sit down, turn on the PC, type in http://www.justjared.com, click on a thread about AJ/BP, type comments, hit submit and then proudly proclaim…”I Find her annoying, I don’t like her” Honestly, isn’t that alot of trouble to go for someone you don’t like? I can’t imagine what you would do with someone you do like….Stalk them?
I hope your children have someone else in their lives who will teach them about self control…I honestly do.

Here is a little something from earlier today.
From Sky SHowbiz:
Is Brad Glued To Ange?
When you’re as chuffing gorgeous as Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, you can’t keep your hands off one another.
So who can blame them for being so entwined?
It does make us feel a little bit uncomfortable - as if they’d rather be locked up in the bedroom than on press duties in Cannes.
But it’s the best insight we have into their relationship - and it’s still going v strong.
The sexual tension between the two looks as hot as ever - hence them pawing each other.
And when a brief moment occurs that they let go of one another, the couple look lost.
Bless.

THANK YOU. It appears that IF the MM/E! blurb is true, then the O13 group, except for MattD, went as a group together, and came right back tlo the hotel as soon as it was over. This fundraiser was for the group formed by Brad, Jerry, Matt, Don, and George for an excellent reason. This is why…Because the first time I posted, I said something many others said, and I was bombarded with insults by all of you fanatics in this worship website.
And now, I just enjoy expressing myself.

Has there been any legit press on who attended the Darfur fundraiser?Maybe we should wait for legit info on whether she was there or not before trying to discuss why she did not go.
So twokids2 is the same one from the Oprah boards. From now on every time she posts there I’m going to follow up with some of her comments from jj. Hypocrites are always revealed in the end.
I don’t think brad wanted her there. I’m telling ya.. some men with big egos ( ya know brad has a big ego) need to be the center of attention once in a while.
I still can’t get over this post by Lainey so I’ll just repost it. :)
In the presence of Brad & Angie
Yours in gossip,
Lainey

Angelina didn’t go! She stayed in the hotel
————————————————————————-
That sucks. I wonder why she tought it was a better idea to hang out with her friends
*******
*GASPS* I know…they’ve called it quits!!!!
Give me a break, will ya. Everyone knows what chaos it would be if BP and AJ showed up together and she (they) aren’t egocentric enough to make it all about them. It’s about Darfur, BP, GC, MD and the Ocean’s 13 cast….get it?
Will someone please tell me who Lainey is?
Maybe they got into a fight because she was checking out Daniel craigs fine ass. I know i would be. She’s a woman with eyes that work, ya know?

If she did or didn’t go to the event doesn’t mean jack but I guess the haters will try to hang on to this little thing until the Ocean’s 13 premiere. I’m on the side of she’s going b/c she will support her man and there would be a even bigger fire storm if she isn’t presented. She did go to the golden globe to support him and other things that didn’t involved her directly…just like Brad has been to events supporting Angelina..GS.

“A Mighty” Impressive Performance From Jolie
CANNES — May 21 late morning
Angelina Jolie won the Oscar of course. But she’s made so many high profile flicks like Tomb Raider and Mr. and Mrs. Smith, not to mention a personal life that combines Brad Pitt with humanitarian work, that it’s easy to forget she’s a very good actress. No one’s going to forget after A Mighty Heart, the Michael Winterbottom film based on the true story of Mariane Pearl and her husband Daniel, a Wall Street Journal reporter who was kidnapped and brutally killed by Islamic terrorists.
Winterbottom’s film is typically dispassionate and very smart and Jolie blends in beautifully with a large cast. She sports a tricky accent worthy of Meryl Streep, but this is not even remotely a showy role. But few will forget her anguished cry of pain when the terrible truth that Daniel had been beheaded was broadcast over the Internet to the entire world. Beautifully, that same cry of pain is echoed a few minutes later, when Mariane is seen giving birth.
Pitt was an executive producer on the film and they both appeared at the press conference, along with Mariane. And yes, it was a mad house. Now we know what it takes to out-draw Michael Moore at a Cannes press conference: the most beautiful couple in the world. By the way, if you haven’t read Pearl’s book A Mighty Heart, it’s quite good. — Michael Giltz

No you want something up….maybe just maybe she wanted to stay at the room/hotel to enjoy sometime to herself….minus man and kids…what the heck am I saying…..that’s like unheard of for a couple to have outside things to do that don’t involved each other or their family. I wonder if Matt and his wife took their daughter….uh oh…if they didn’t, then something must be up right?
In a festival that has felt surprisingly withdrawn from world politics (all of the above films are very inner-directed), Michael Winterbottom’s gripping thriller “A Mighty Heart” feels like a refreshing blast from the real world. (What, no war films this year?) Despite the potential sentimentality of the subject matter - the film is told through the perspective of Mariane Pearl, the five-months pregnant wife of murdered journalist Daniel Pearl - “A Mighty Heart” tells a complex, suspenseful tale of political intrigue, Pakistani-Indian relations, journalistic ethics, torture and yes, the emotional turmoil of losing a loved one.
While Angelina Jolie’s Mariane Pearl occasionally loses her French accent, she makes up for the misstep with a sturdy, anguished performance that eventually succumbs to a volcanic eruption of grief. If the portrayal is already generating Oscar talk, it’s also better than such fatuous plaudits. As Mariane Pearl emphatically said at the news conference on Monday morning, the film exists above-and-beyond Academy buzz. “It’s not about us,” Pearl said. “It’s not about being famous and making more money or any of that. It’s about a situation in the world that everybody is aware of.”

From Cinnematical:
Cannes Review: A Mighty Heart
Posted May 22nd 2007 9:31PM by James Rocchi
Over the past few years, director Michael Winterbottom’s leapt from genre to genre with a far-ranging deftness where the distance of the jumps is matched only by the agility of the landings. He’s given us rollicking rock-and-roll comedy (24 Hour Party People), innovative literary adaptations (Jude, The Claim, Tristam Shandy: A **** and Bull Story), partially-baked sci-fi (Code 46), art-house sexuality (9 Songs), gripping documentary (The Road to Guantanamo) and more — and quietly putting together a filmography whose scope and quality put him near Steven Soderbergh’s level of production and excellence. A Mighty Heart, playing outside of competition here at Cannes, sees him working with his biggest star to date — Angelina Jolie — and turning a true story into a compelling, intellectually and emotionally engaging film that may take him from the art house to the mainstream.
A Mighty Heart is adapted from the memoirs of journalist Mariane Pearl (Jolie), who was posted, along with her Wall Street Journal reporter husband Daniel (Dan Futterman), to Karachi Pakistan, in the wake of 9/11. In 2002, the Pearls were literally one day away from leaving Karachi when Daniel had one last interview to conduct — a tentative meeting with an elusive subject. He left as his wife was preparing a farewell dinner with their friends in the area. He never returned.
Part of A Mighty Heart is a police procedural played out on the global stage, as U.S. personnel (led by Will Patton’s Randall Bennett) and Pakistani authorities (led by Irrfan Khan’s character, known simply as ‘Captain’) scour Karachi’s backstreets and secret places, trying to find the extremists who have kidnapped Daniel. On the home front, Mariane worked her own connections and sources along with her husband’s Wall Street Journal peers (Asra Norman’s Archie Panjabi) and superiors (Denis O’Hare’s John Bussey). It’s hard to imagine anyone who doesn’t know how this story ends — Pearl was executed, as captured on a notorious videotape, weeks after his abduction — and that pall of certainty hangs over all of the character’s efforts and struggles. We know this ends in death; at the same time, the frustration, panic and worry captured on screen show that the real people involved at the time knew that was a possibility from the instant Daniel Pearl didn’t come home.
If one thing elevates A Mighty Heart above ripped-from-the-headlines melodrama — and you shudder to think what a less-talented director could have done with this material — it’s Winterbottom’s insistence of shooting in Karachi and incorporating a real sense of place into every frame of the film. Karachi’s a sprawling, squalid metropolis — cluttered streets and grinding poverty — and its role as a crossroads in the war on terror, and a crossroads for the war terror wages against the world, hums and thrums throughout every scene.
The supporting cast is all excellent, but special praise has to go to Khan and Futterman. Khan’s character is the head of the new Pakistani anti-terrorism unit, and he’s a man torn between the public pronouncements of support for the West’s initiatives and the labyrinthine power-struggles of his government and massive public support for radical Islamic action. The Captain is the face of a new kind of power in Pakistan, and Khan’s every line, every motion has the coiled power of a punch about to land, even in stillness. Futterman’s challenge in portraying Pearl is trickier — after the initial sequences of the film we only see him in flashback or in photos and video — but Futterman still makes Pearl come alive for us as a husband, a lover, a son, a journalist.
Jolie’s portrayal of Pearl — who was six months pregnant when her husband was abducted — has been the subject of some controversy due to some mild cosmetic elements — her hair is curlier, her skin slightly darkened to convey the real Mariane Pearl’s Cuban-French heritage — but there’s nothing insensitive or overdone in the mild make-up artistry of the part; the inner performance is what shines out. Jolie’s Pearl may feel fear, but never hate — and her public face of grace and calm is one part humanism, one part strategy. She’s deliberately trying not to provoke the men who hold her husband captive — and she also truly believes that peace and justice are the ultimate weapons against those who would kill and maim in the name of God. Asked about Karachi’s role as a cultivator of terrorism, Marianne’s reply is fast, smart and sincere: “Wherever there is misery, they find people.”
But Jolie’s Mariane Pearl isn’t some plaster secular saint, either; when the inevitable end to the story comes crashing down, her howling, devastated grief ripples off the screen with brute force and power. (And frankly, the make-up artistry in the film re-contextualizes Jolie’s well-publicized features in a way that lets her simply act to a degree she hasn’t been able to in years.) John Orloff’s scrrenplay adaptation of Mariane Pearl’s book is strong, but it’s Winterbottom style and choices — location shooting, a fluid sense of time, a run-and-gun approach to scenes — that make A Mighty Heart stand out as more than just a tragedy. The Cannes production notes for A Mighty Heart point out that in the five years since Daniel Pearl’s brutal murder, nearly 230 other journalists have been killed on the job through out the world. A Mighty Heart shows us the death of one man, but it also demonstrates how the forces that would destroy us despise the truth itself — and how killing those who try to bring truth to the world through a free press is a cornerstone of terror’s brutish, ignorant war against civilization itself.

Thank you for getting what I was trying to say. Remember last year Angelina was in Canada with Brad when he was in TIFF doing press for Babel and she NEVER went to the OneXOne Benefit charity Gala that was hosted by Matt Damon. Did that mean something was wrong? Absolutely not.

I can’t wait to see this movie! This scene seems to be very emotional for a viewer to watch b/c it’s the one that most critics are pointing too and saying that Angelina nailed her oscar nod with that scene.
Just my two cents.
I think Angie probably didn’t go….IF she didn’t go that is….to the event for Darfur because she didn’t want to take away from what the event was about. Sad to say but Brad & Angie together outshine even that, I think if this is the reason then it was very considerate of her.
As for the premiere, I thinks she will go but if not then again she probably doesn’t want to draw away from those whose movie it was. Nothing wrong with that either.
A Mighty Heart involved both Brad & Angie so naturally they would both attend all events connected with it.

The film, directed by Michael Winterbottom, the film is based on Mariane’s memoir after her husband’s death “A Mighty Heart: The Brave Life and Death of My Husband Daniel Pearl.”
Co-starring Dan Futterman, Irfan Khan, Adnan Siddiqui, Alyy Khan, and co-produced by Brad Pitt, “A Mighty Heart” is very much Mariane’s story as carried out by Angelina.
Jolie “fits comfortably into the naturalistic mold that shapes the entire ensemble” says Variety. “This isn’t the sort of commanding star turn in which the performer vanishes behind a well-known celebrity mask, but rather a subdued, carefully considered portrait of a woman caught between premature grief and persistent hope.”
Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush attended the “Mighty Heart” press conference in Cannes, where Angelina, Brad and the rest of the film’s cast and crew were joined by Mariane on the panel.
Billy asked Angelina what it was like to step into the difficult role.
“Angelina, Mariane said that she trusted you. Was there a moment when you felt you had got that validation from her or did you know inside you had nailed it?” Billy asked.
“I did finally speak to her days after she saw it and she told me it was all right,” Jolie revealed. “I was very nervous and didn’t know if I could do it at all. So for her to tell that it was done right, I can’t tell you how much that means to me.”
“A Mighty Heart” hits theaters June 22.

This is one nice pic. Angie is so pretty and elegant ! She is one of those actress who look good in candid shot unlike you know who, who had to fire a director for not making the lights properly set up to make her look more like woman not man.

I always said I like Brad. That I feel sorry for him, but I like him.
I never mentioned any of her kids.
Only that he didn’t have a choice with any of them, as she adopted Mad and Z, before him, and she adopted Pax, alone.
So, stop the BS, and stop saying that I said things that I didn’t.
I like to go to different sites to see the pictures and to see what’s going on in Hollywood.
And I am entitled to my own opinion, which you don’t respect.
Because of that, I don’t respect yours either.
End of discussion.
But Jolie’s Mariane Pearl isn’t some plaster secular saint, either; when the inevitable end to the story comes crashing down, her howling, devastated grief ripples off the screen with brute force and power.

that party was 200 people paying 100,000 each. i think they could keep their hysteria in check. i think something’s up.
—————————————————————————————————–
Come on now…if ’something was up’, she wouldn’t have been hanging out in the lobby relaxing with a couple of friends…One would think if you were right and there was a problem she would be at the villa AWAY from the prying eyes of strangers. Bottom line, she has stayed back while Brad has gone to these kinds of events on his own before (the Palm Springs Babel event comes to mind).
If she decided to stay back it could be due to the emotional day she had the day before…maybe she just needed to unwind from that. Perhaps she wanted to skip getting all dolled up two nights in a row and instead wait for the premiere. Maybe she wanted to spend a little time with the kids as she probably hadn’t the chance the day before because of all her commitments to AMH. Maybe she just didn’t feel like going. It doesn’t really need to be some conspiracy of trouble IMO
P.S. I think she’ll be with him at the premiere…now more than ever :)
Hey twokids,
If you put all this energy into something you liked, think about what you could do. Isn’t it exhausting to focus on negative things all the time. You don’t like Angie, so that is a negative. Why give it power? If you notice, I am not attacking you. I am trying to have an adult conversation with you.

IA. I don’t think either one knew how it would be received by the critics due to who they are but I think that this performance has reminded critics and soon fans/haters alike that Angelina Jolie isn’t just one hot mama with four kids and Brad Pitt….she’s an award winning actress that fires up the screen with not just beauty but an overwhelming talent.
twokids2,
I’m glad Jennifer Aniston didn’t end up playing the role. Brad Pitt is better off without her and I never thought she looked like she fit with him either. I always thought it was a matter of time.
You can post all day about how wonder Aniston is, it’s still the past and if you want to live there, fine, turn into a block of salt, looking back at what was.
When Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie walked together on the red carpet in cannes it’s so obvious how glamorous they looked and well they fit together. Brad Pitt finally allowed himself to embrace his greatness and use his fame for a good cause instead of being afraid of it and hanging out in the mediocre with his mediocre actress wife Jennifer Aniston. There is no way Aniston could play a role of this caliber. She is no more than Rachel Green, a sitcom actress. That’s not a bad thing, but there is a world of a difference between sitcom and movie star.
Here is some info about the event
http://clooneyproject.livejournal.com/374689.html
It seems it’s closed to the press and only 200 people. The inside pictures will be sold to a magazine. Though I’m sure we’ll get news soon.
I also don’t see why it matters if Angelina goes. Brad does not follow her to every charity event she does. She just went to NY and Washington and Brad wasn’t there. He’s done many events without her. She’s at the hotel for goodness sakes. From that E! report she was even waiting in the lobby to meet him. That is, if they were even telling the truth.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie – so in love and finally opening up about their relationship, both stars opened up to NBC’s Ann Curry,
and only “Extra” has a sneak peak at the brand-new interview, which airs Wednesday on “Today” and “Dateline.”
“I have this man with me, who’s helping me through this, and loves me,” Angelina said about Brad.
She also said she was in awe of Mariane Pearl, the woman she portrays in the film.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Why would you be extremely anxious? What in the world would make you feel that way? Did you not read that evidently IF this is true that only MATTD’S WIFE ATTENDED? THAT THE OTHERS WENT IN AN O13 GROUP??? Didn’t the blurb, again IF true, say that Angelina was in the lobby area with a group of friends and that Brad came back to the hotel with the O13 group where Angelina was? Didn’t Angelina say at her press conference that she wanted to visit with friends? Did Angelina not go to DC for GAC without Brad? Are you determined to give the trolls something to now endlessly talk about as if they don’t have enough nothingness to drone on about already? There is nothing here to indicate any problems, NOTHING WHAT SO EVER. STOP THIS INSANITY.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
And those of you would as usual blame Brad for everything real or imagined, Angelina does have a mind of her own. These two are TRUE PARTNERS, just accept that. Sounds as IF this is true, that Angelina was dressed comfortable, was relaxing, enjoying herself in Cannes. We should all be so lucky.
Here is a great article regarding Angelina playing Mariane and the issue of race in Hollywood. The author lists several actors who played outside their race:
• Jessica Alba (of Mexican, Danish and French descent) played a black woman in Honey, a lame 2003 dance drama that also featured Mekhi Phifer, Lil’ Romeo and Missy Elliot.
Although little seen and little remarked upon, the movie is the ultimate example of “blind” casting. Alba’s parents are played by black actors, but since race isn’t mentioned, we aren’t sure whether we’re supposed to assume the light-skinned Lonette McKee, who plays the mother, is white.
Now if only Phifer’s character had been given a Korean name the movie could be hailed for really breaking new ground.
• Anthony Hopkins played a light-skinned black man who is passing for white in The Human Stain, also in 2003.
Debate over Hopkins playing the role focused not so much on his race as on his fame: Would audiences be able to forget the actor and accept his character as black? Hopkins, having played Othello in blackface in a 1981 British TV production, presumedly never gave the matter much thought.
• Susan Kohner (Mexican and Czech) was nominated for an Academy Award for her supporting role in Imitation of Life, in which she played a light-skinned black woman who passes for white and is ashamed of her dark-skinned mother (Juanita Moore, who also received a nomination).
Kohner retired from acting a few years after making the 1959 melodrama. She’s the mother of Chris and Paul Weitz (In Good Company, About a Boy, American Pie).
• Jeanne Crain was nominated for best actress for her role as a black woman who passes for white in Pinky.
After living as a white woman and falling in love with a white man up North, Pinky returns to the deep South where she grapples with identity issues.
Ethel Waters played her grandmother in this 1949 film, which was directed by Elia Kazan (On the Waterfront, A Streetcar Named Desire).
• Assorted Othellos: Apart from the disgrace of minstrelsy, there has been a long tradition of whites using makeup to darken their skin for stage roles, particularly in Shakespeare’s Othello.
Recent movie adaptations have used black actors (Laurence Fishburne in 1995, Phifer in 2001) but among legendary screen actors who wore blackface to play the Moorish king were Laurence Olivier (1965), Orson Welles (1952) and Emil Jannings (1922).
Olivier’s Othello, while much praised in some quarters, also drew criticism for the way he imitated mannerisms he’d seen in Caribbean blacks. “Olivier overworks it, for his portrayal appears geared primarily to the task of impersonating a Negro,” Time magazine wrote, calling his Othello a “modern stereotype” infused with “too much mammy singer.”

No. I never said I hated them.
But you have never said that you liked them or acknowledged that Brad has adopted both Mad and Z and is their legal father, and that Brad has begun the process to adopt Pax. You clearly see Shiloh as Brad’s only child, no matter what the reality is. Brad has three children, and is in the process of adopting a fourth child.
I always said I dislike Angelina.
That’s your right, but why do you dislike her? I’m curious, has she personally done something to you?
I always said I like Brad. That I feel sorry for him, but I like him.
Why do you feel sorry for Brad? He seems very happy with someone that he appears to be totally in love with and who appears to totally love him. He has the kids he wanted for years with more kids to come into his life. If you like him, why are you not happy that he is happy?
I never mentioned any of her kids.
Only that he didn’t have a choice with any of them, as she adopted Mad and Z, before him, and she adopted Pax, alone.
How in the hell did Angelina adopt Pax alone as you say without Brad also desiring and supporting that adoption? Angellina adopted alone as permitted by Vietnamese law. They are in a committed relationship, they are a family, Brad went with Angelina to Vietnam to see Pax last November, brad was in total agreement re Pax’s adoption, and has begun the legal process to also adopt Pax. Angelina adopted Mad years before she even met Brad so of course he would have nothing to do with Mad’s initial adoption. It is now known that the reality is that Brad and Angelina made the decision to adopt Z together. What is also reality is that both Brad and Angelina dearly love their kids.
And I am entitled to my own opinion.

And I’m not attacking you either.
The this with many people on this site is that when anyone say something negative, and by this I don’t mean derogative, about Angie, many of you jump and start insulting. And if you don’t believe me, sit back and read the threads.
Someone said something about Brads hair, I many of you almost had a panic attack. If you post something different to the way many of you feel, its like if you commited a crime. And I sit back and wonder why.
For example, I write something about Angie’s legs, which I find really skinny and not pretty, and everybody jumped at me and started to critize Jen and talking about her long chin. And to be honest, I couldn’t care less if her chin is long, short or twisted. It’s a matter of principle. You attack because someone doesn’t like Angelina and start insulting but in the same way, you do the same thing, you critize Jen and insult her.
So, do you honestly believe that you are different than the rest? That you have the right to insult anyone that doesn’t agree with you?
Well I’m sorry, but I just posted my opinion about baby Z’s leg, no harm in that. But many of you, I wonder why, thought that I didn’t had the right to ask. Maybe because deep inside, you were thinking just the same, and that would go in pair with your opinion about Angelina. You see, mine wasn’t the only post about baby Z’s leg. But I was the only one that responded back.
Again, it has nothing to do with the kids or Brad.
More, I posted a link of the movies Spy Game, which I loved and watched over and over again, and said something about this is what Brad is going to look in a couple of years. Man, everybody jumped at me. But everyone was posting how much those two resembles one another. I even posted that if no one had seen the movie, they should. But no, they only see the what they want to see.
So, what else do you want me to say.
It’s a free country, isn’t it?

I still can’t get over this post by Lainey so I’ll just repost it.
In the presence of Brad & Angie
Yours in gossip,
Lainey

So true. One of our local reporter from Taiwan was there,as he reiterated It was really a pandemonium and hysterical when Brad and Angie came out for the press conference and premier, photographers were pushing each other like shxt just to have the best shot, and shouting as hell for the attention of Brad and Angie. that guy was a celebrity journo from one of the biggest newspaper in our country, and while Brad and the other OC13 gangs were having there TV interview at the other site of the luxury hotel, Angie was also having her one to one interview with the international press, He said Angie was so down to earth, kind, friendly and not diva, he was all praised of Angie. So while the OC13 gangs were promoting their films, Angie was also busy promoting AMH, this could be the reason she was not in the Charity event with Brad. but I think she will be with him in the premier of OC 13 even she ’s tired just like suppporting Brad in GG even her mother was not doing well, OC 13 was a big budget movie, I’m sure the producers won’t mind Angie adding the hype.
Night night Jolie Pitt fans. Don’t let the trolls bite - our family is on a roll and no one can spoil it.

Then, there comes the lies. Angie said she would do anything to anyone as her father did to her mother. But you see, she did. And don’t bring me the BS that their marriage was over long before she came to his life. You know that that is not true.
Anyways, as I said, it’s not because of Jen, I couldn’t care less for her. It’s for the principle.
And I like Brad, but feels sorry for him because IN MY OPINION, he is the nanny. He looks tired, he has aged, and FOR ME, he doesn’t look happy.
And yes, he adopted Mad and Z and now is dealing with Pax. No need to mention that. Or you feel the need for everyone to acknowledge that he is the adoptive father of them.
And as you said, you have the right to your opinion, I have the right to mine.
I said I didn’t like her but not because of Jen, I said I didn’t like her since before her times with Billy Bob, and everyone attacked me and said I was lying. Well, no, I’m not lying. There is something in her that I don’t like and their is something in Jen that many of you don’t like either. It’s that so hard to believe.
I just think she is overrated. She is pretty, with beautiful eyes, but I don’t see anything else in her, except all those tattoos.
Is this so hard to accept? Or Am I getting insulted again.

Yes I have to kids.
And I post when they are occupied doing things, like playing outside, or on sports practices, or studying, or late at night when they are sleeping.
Sometimes they even like to look at the pictures at the different sites, not only here. And they give their opinions to me or ask questions like, why is Paris going to jail. Things like that.
I don’t rob them time, if that is what you are worried about, which I know you don’t but since you asked…

Wow….some hotness going on at the hotel today…Geeeeeeeeeeeesh, wish I could get me some of that Clooney, or Pitt, or Damon, or Cheadle…

I actually thought George just looks damn horrible and Matt looks like he’s going bald.

For the love of God, these are men in their forties, not their twenties….just got to have the eye to appreciate what they got…too bad for you that you don’t.
Wake up on the wrong side of the mobile home today, or wouldn’t the old Neon start?

Listen you little b*tch, No onet needs you explaining how old George Clooney is. And for the record Matt Damon isn’t in his 40’s he’s in his thirties. Just because someone doesn’t find another person and specifically someone you find attractive, attractive doesn’t mean they live in a trailer. Grow the F-UP! And I happen to agree. George looks like SH*T!
twokisd2,
I feel sorry for people in the public eye when they go through a break up. Here you are talking about it more than 2 years since the split. Truth is we don’t really know what it was like to be them. Only they know what happened but more importantly how they felt. When a relationship ends people cope with it in different ways and one person always moves on before the other. Often people hold onto the relationship way after it ends. It seems as though you’ve been hurt. Hope you can move on. Leave them alone. There are heaps of people who do cheat and lie and you don’t know that Brad did this or not. Give them the benifit of doubt. They are not bad people. I believe they deserve happiness.
OMG, twokids2 get over it. it’s been over two years already. it’s not your marriage that ended! B&A are extremely happy, of course for a close minded person like you, you see otherwise. if there’s anybody who is EXTREMELY obsess with this family… ITS YOU! plain and simply. You pick on everything they do, because it validates your otherwise bored life that they are capable of mistakes and just as human as well. Well of course they are human, they eat, poop and pee just like anybody does here. i bet they trip as well and pick their nose. yes they may be insanely beautiful people, physically but what make them more appealing are their inner self, their causes and the desire to make a difference. And that’s what most fans admire about them, of course can’t help admiring their beauty but that’s already a given.
btw, before i go back to lurking. yes Angelina is a bit skinny but does she glow?! can’t believe it others who lost weight you can see it on their faces with the full make-up on, the dry-ness but she doesn’t, she just looks absolutely refreshing and beautiful. i think her being thin is brought about by work - night and day (no pun intended) and looking after 4 kids and the glow definitely comes from doing those things.
back to lurking.
may I ask what ****** planet do you people live on?

Yes I am a woman and yes I have gone through a divorce. I accepted the truth that my ex and I were not really compatible. My ex moved on very quickly after we separated with someone I knew before our divorce was final. I am not going to say that I was not hurt with their actions. However they are much more alike than my ex and I ever were. The ex and I had put on a good front for family and friends so most just could not believe that we were divorcing. That divorce was the best thing ever for me. It took a lot of energy to keep everyone in the dark as to what the truth really was. However, neither of us has ever badmouthed the other and today we get along well. That is why I have no respect for JA. If you can’t say anything good then just keep your mouth shut. Don’t complain. It takes two to make a marriage, the spouses must share the blame if it fails. Don’t put the blame on outside forces, marriages fail from within, that I do know. If a marriage is strong and succeeding, then it will withstand everything that is thrown at it. Angelina seems to me to be much more compatible with Brad than JA ever was. JMO.
Billy Bob was living with Laura Dern who have moved in with him while he was married to Petra, the mother of his two sons. Laura Dern broke up that marriage, she and BBT were not engaged, just living together. BBT is 15+ years older than Angelina, he has admitted that he said he was free to marry. Laura Dern broke up her current husband while his then wife was pregnant, had two kids, and they just married last year. Laura Dern is no angel.
Brad is no nanny, HE IS A FATHER, and fathers share in the care of their kids. He did not become a father until he was 42 (of three in one year), a wish he had publicly spoken of for years and years. He appears to throughly enjoy fatherhood and I am happy for him. HE IS ALSO 43, 44 IN DECEMBER, HE LOOKS DAMM GOOD. Do you call your husband a nanny when he helps with your kids? I doubt that you do.
