Angelina Jolie: ‘Today Show’ Interview
Angelina Jolie sits down with NBC News’ Anny Curry to discuss her new movie A Mighty Heart, having a fourth child and losing her mom, Marcheline Bertrand.
Said a tearful Jolie, “This has been a heavy year in losing my mom and having a fourth child. I’m very aware of time and of memories and of doing and enjoying life, not just doing the right thing and being a useful person, which I certainly want to be and believe I am. I want to be a great mom like my mom was. And I want to also do the things that I love. So I’m at a strange place in my life. That happens when you lose a parent, where you drop into a different kind of serious. Yet at the same time, you want to enjoy and laugh as much as possible everyday. But I’m holding onto my family really tight at this moment because of that and trying to be as good a woman as I can be in my life. Dammit. You got me crying. (Curry apologizes) That’s alright. It’s part of life. … I lost my mom. It’s a natural thing for a child to lose a parent. I lost my mom too young, but it happened. And I’m happy she’s out of pain, because I love her and she’s my friend.”

The Enquirer is really going after Brad now, last week was the drugs thing and now the cheating.
They’re too ball-less to even say that, they’re just saying AJ is supposedly jealous over a movie kiss he did 4 months ago. LOL!! NE (and the other rags - but NE especially) are known for putting one thing on the cover and then furiously back-tracking inside. The are not only just liars, they are lame ones.

I was looking at all the recent pictures of Brad, and damn, that man is tall! He’s towers over everybody and usually I don’t really get the impression that he’s this really large guy but he’s even taller than George Clooney. Angie did good with finding herself a man with some girth.
Heh-heh. In more ways than one, I’m sure. THUD! ;-)
that’s a first brad and angie are not on the cover of life and style. How sad they are trying to look more credible by putting tyra on the front talking about weight and body issues. US weekly have done the same thing only with janet jackson.
From Lainey
The reviews are pouring in and there seems to be consensus. It’s an important movie, she honours it, and the Oscar buzz is already beginning which means Life & Style will be calling for another wedding by next week. Snort.

Angelina did make an appearance at the bar. Serene and secured – that wicked bodyguard pacing incessantly making sure none of the super rich people were about to attack her and preventing trespassers from getting too close. Sorry to disappoint the haters but away from the cameras, I’m told she and Brad are – and I quote – “ridiculously in love”. To the point where they will find each other’s eyes in a crowded room and send over a secret smile. Trust me…I just heaved a little too.
SWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!
i saw excerpts of her interview on Today’s Show with Ann Curry. Angelina has become a very thoughtful, selfless, profound woman.. very intriguing and awe inspiring. and very much in love with Brad. They will most definitely grow old together. I think they will truly become one of longest relationships Hollywood has ever witness.

Not predicting, not knowing Jolie’s fate, but believing Jolie has a good heart and is a different person from years ago. She’s made obvious changes. Learn to forgive and stop harboring ill feelings toward someone you don’t know.
tondo girl,
thanks for making me laugh. i am so stressed for my final exams. coming here at jj and reading about the wonderful things about brad and angie is my way of destressing. keep on going girl.
INTERVIEW-Jolie kids keep her grounded, help with tough role

By Mike Collett-White
CANNES, France, May 23 (Reuters) - It is children that keep Angelina Jolie’s feet firmly on the ground while the paparazzi chase her every move, and motherhood helped the star prepare for her role as the pregnant wife of slain reporter Daniel Pearl.
The 31-year-old, who with her partner Brad Pitt is known in Hollywood as super-couple “Brangelina”, plays Mariane Pearl, wife of the Wall Street Journal journalist who was kidnapped and beheaded by Islamic militants in Pakistan in 2002.
Mariane, who wrote a book about her experiences, was around six months pregnant at the time, and Jolie filmed “A Mighty Heart” not long after she gave birth to daughter Shiloh.
Jolie and Pitt, 43, also have three adopted children, from Cambodia, Ethiopia and Vietnam.
“My children help me keep perspective,” Jolie told Reuters in an interview on Wednesday just outside Cannes, where the movie had its world premiere.
“The world forms opinions and has a view and does tabloid things and fortunately none of that is inside my home,” she said at the exclusive Du Cap hotel. “I (am) focused on getting the kids to school, I’m focused on the balance of all the children.”
Critics have praised Jolie for her portrayal of a woman who desperately seeks her husband through phone and e-mail trails and in the teeming city of Karachi, a hotbed of militancy just after the 9/11 attacks.
MEMORIES OF NAMIBIA
Jolie was in Namibia when discussing the script with Mariane and British director Michael Winterbottom as she prepared to give birth to Shiloh.
“We were all in Namibia and I was six months pregnant, and I remember seeing Mariane and talking to her about being pregnant.
“At the same time I would go home, sit and lay next to Brad, and he would put his hand on my stomach and we would talk about the hospital and the baby and were so excited together.
“To know that’s what they took away from her at that time infuriated me, it made me so, so upset.”
She added that Mariane had no time for letting her “emotions run wild”, but added: “But thank God she was pregnant, because she has Danny in (their son) Adam … he is Adam.”
Jolie said “A Mighty Heart”, which Pitt co-produced, did not signal a shift away from comic or action roles for which she is best known, even though she won an Oscar for “Girl, Interrupted” set in a mental institution.
“I think people think that now I’m just trying to be serious and do very serious films.
“But the reality is I’m playing an assassin now in a movie and my little boys think it’s really cool and I’m going to do a cartoon next where I’m a tiger and … that’s why I get kudos in my house.”
The star of box office hits like “Mr. & Mrs. Smith”, in which she played alongside Pitt, Jolie said she had been gripped by Mariane’s tragedy when it played out before the media.
The film still had relevance today, however, by preaching a message of tolerance.
“This woman, who has the greatest reason to be just blinded by hate, is speaking up very strongly and saying we have got to have a dialogue, we have got to continue to find ways to relate to each other and not just focus on differences.”
Jolie said she would continue to take time off in between filming to be with her family, and that she and Pitt took turns to act in movies. (Please visit our Cannes site, including a link to our blogs, on http://uk.reuters.com/news/globalcoverage/cannesFestival)
Beautiful:

OMG!! Have you seen the latest cover of the NATIONAL ENQUIRER????

Yes! I saw it. Just goes to show you tabloids are total trash. Man Brad Pitt watch annoys the **** out of me though. What kind of fan is that? Horrible horrible website.
++++++++++++
What’s totally retarded is that STAR had the same story 3 months ago when Brad was filming CCOBB in NO! So, once again…the NE has nothing new to report. Just recycling used sh#t from Star…again. The NE hasn’t had a B/A story in 2 weeks, so they had to come up with sumpin’!
Jolie, though, sometimes had a harder time staying inside. Winterbottom’s inimitable shooting style is a little like the taping of a reality show: He uses handheld cameras and no studio lighting, encourages as much improvisation as the story line allows, and then simply follows his actors around wherever they go. ”The crew would have to find places to hide — behind curtains or in the bathroom — to stay out of the shots,” Jolie says of the process. ”The great thing about it is if you felt like going somewhere else while doing a scene, you could. But it could get intense. Michael and I would have disagreements over wherehe could follow me. We came up with a system. If I closed the door, he couldn’t follow. If I left it open, he could. I just needed to know that if things got too heavy, there’d be a place for me to cry by myself.”
That, by the way, was not something Jolie worried about on the set of Lara Croft: Tomb Raider. Or on Mr. & Mrs. Smith. And it’s one of the things that make A Mighty Heart so potentially interesting. Since winning her Oscar, Jolie’s onscreen persona has been transformed by a series of tentpole action roles, and her offscreen footprint has grown so huge (something to do with that boyfriend of hers) it threatens to eclipse all else in her life and career. But with A Mighty Heart, the actress has the chance to show why she got that little golden guy in the first place. She can remind people of something her new supersize celebrity status almost makes them forget.
That she can actually act.

ANN CURRY IS SO FAKE!!!
I never understand how Angelina Jolie manages to keep her cool when answering her questions…
Please vote for Brad occasionally. They think we are too distracted with all the good news :-) Voting ends May 31.

OMG sorry about my caps lock … i feel better now that i was able to make that idiot to bark like a dog.. BRAD and ANGELINA i’m loving them… Good day to everyone specially to my fellow Brangelina fans… Angie is one very smart and sassy lady..Brad is so exotic looking guy..and funny… i bet Angie loves him so much for that…looks like Brad is always making Angelina laugh.
Why do you care? Do you show up at Trekkie, Star Wars, or Rocky Horror conventions and ridicule their fans? How about Beatlemania events or at Graceland on Elvis’ birthday every year? Or let’s see how about James Dean’s or Jim Morrison’s grave sites like thousands do every year? I could go on, but I think, actually I hope, that you get my point. Its called being a fan. You either get it or you don’t. Yeah fans tend to wax romantic about everything the person they like does or did, but it comes with the territory. So if you’re thinking of sticking around here then you might as well get used to it.
I’m still riding that wave of euphoria from those stunning photos from Cannes of the Royal Couple - Brad and Angie. The reviews for AMH are so wonderful and must be so rewarding for them, having worked on this project so close to their hearts.
I cried for Angie’s heartache as she talked of her mom, with such love. I love her more and more to see her strength in the face of such a great loss.
Thanks for the link to that sexy picture of Brad holding his lady’s hips…..ooooooh…la…..la…..
And Jared, you are surpassing all my expectations when it comes to keeping us up with all the latest from Cannes about ‘what’s her name’ and ‘what’s his name.’
tondogirl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:)
where are you from?
Great interview. It had me teared up.
