Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie attend the premiere for the Ocean’s Thirteen at the Palais des Festivals during the Cannes Film Festival on Thursday in Cannes, France.
Angelina looked absolutely flawless dressed in a flowing canary yellow gown with her hair half-up. Of course not to be downplayed was partner Brad looking dapper in his tuxedo!

CANNES, France (CNN) — One of the films showing at Cannes this year is Michael Winterbottom’s “A Mighty Heart.” It follows the story of murdered journalist, Daniel Pearl, who was beheaded by Pakistani militants in 2002. Based on the book by his widow, writer Mariane Pearl, it stars Dan Futterman and Angelina Jolie.
The Screening Room talked to Angelina Jolie about truth, brutality and her relationship with Mariane Pearl.
CNN: This film sticks to the truth like glue. What was that like for you as an actress?
Angelina Jolie: It was an amazing experience for me, technically, as an actress to work with a director like Michael Winterbottom, who is so set on honesty and honest moments. He dedicates himself; he was obsessive about understanding and meeting with every single person and learning about the facts, learning about the history. He impressed all of them with his knowledge and he gave us a great education. He’s the only person that I believe could have made this film and we all felt we were in his capable hands.
CNN: Tell us about your relationship with Mariane Pearl.
Jolie: We first got in contact about four years ago to have a play date because our children are very close in age and we were both single moms at the time. Since then, we slowly got to know each other and during this process [of making "A Mighty Heart"] had a chance to really get to know each other.
She is a remarkable woman, a great friend and a wonderful mom, and she’s taught me a lot. We’ve joked because it’s the first time I’ve had a really great relationship with a journalist, but she’s a really great woman and she’s so supportive of other women and other journalists. She’s a really open, compassionate, interesting person — I set out to do a film and I ended up making a great lifelong friend who’s taught me so much.
CNN: Michael Winterbottom doesn’t direct his actors as such, and he was telling us about the scene when you emitted that horrible scream. As an actress did what you delivered surprise you?
Jolie: Yes, it did, actually. We had no plan ’cause I don’t think you can ever plan those things really. I had no idea exactly how she reacted — I couldn’t ask her, so I never did.
On that night we all thought about Danny, we thought about Mariane, we thought about what that news would be like and we thought about that little boy. I guess something overwhelmed everybody that night because everybody was emotional. Maybe it was just the brutality and the horrors of what people are capable of in this world and what happens to families.
CNN: And when you actually came to filming, what happened?
Jolie: Michael said to me, if you’re comfortable, leave the door open and if you’re not, slam the door and I’ll know not to come in. That was our only signal; that was his only direction. So I left the door open.
CNN: This film sticks to the truth, it’s restrained and it lets the story speak for itself. Do you think cinema can play a role in being truthful, not just telling stories?
Jolie: Absolutely, and again, I don’t think anybody does it better than Michael. It’s the kind of film I like to see. If somebody’s presenting a story that they say is truthful, then I want to learn, I want to know what really happened. I don’t want somebody else’s idea of what’s a more exciting truth. I’m not going to the movie to be entertained, I’m going to that movie to be educated: hopefully we did try to do that.

They climbed the stairs together hand in hand. But on the top of the stairs, Angie stayed behind the crowd and Brad was looking for her. It was so lovely.
On Frech TV, the people in studio was screaming at the interviewer to talk to Angie but he was saying that she was surrounded by the bodyguards. There was a blond standing and talking to Angie but Angie was giving her short answers. Angie prefered to talk to the kids who were re-doing the front part of her hair. She was laughing with them.

I like her different hairstyles throughout Cannes. She had more big curls that were wind blown at the press for AMH. Then swept back and very elegant for the AMH movie premiere. Today was very much bombshell. She has been working it.

Why do so many people insist on saying they look so unhappy all the time? There are thousands of people surrounding them, all shouting their names at once, flashbulbs popping in their faces, chaos all around … I think they handle all this stuff with dignity and grace. Just because they don’t have publicist-approved grins plastered all over their faces doesn’t mean they’re not happy. From all accounts, not only are they happy, they’re ‘ridiculously in love.’

Estelle, didn’t I tell you on another thread that I almost didn’t go to the gym two days in a row because I was looking at pictures. Angie only had the body in Tomb Raider when she was doing Tomb Raider, she isn’t doing that movie now so why would you think she would have that body? It is like Brad only had the body in Troy when he was doing Troy. His body has been nice but he was never that big and has not been since. Sure Angie could gain 10lbs but she doesn’t look ill. She just look like a women whose naturally body wieght fluctuates 10lbs. She is grieving the lost of her mother so she is on the low side of that 10lbs. If she gained 10lbs it owuld onle put her at Mr. and Mrs. Smith wieght in which was little then also. I just really think people need to give the wieght thing a rest. Before her mother died she was DYING. Do you have any idea the toll a dying parent takes on a child? Whatever. You wishing it isn’t going to make it happen. She is a small women, I never knew 10lbs made you not okay, ill or to thin. I am not going to talk about this anymore. She looks great IMO and she is happy and I am happy for her. It has been a great week and that all for me.

The weight issue has been talked to death. She has been losing weight since july 2006 and looked her worst in december of 2006. Right now, she looks not as bad as 2 months ago, even if she starts to gain weight you won’t see a difference for at least 6 months. She’s working and trying to get healthier. She knows she’s underwight, she’s not in denial. Is going to take some time but she’s in good route. Be patience.

While perusing some photos from Cannes, I found this one — taken earlier today — of Brangelina. Doesn’t Angie look stunning in this dress? Yellow is so hot. I was just looking at this yellow dress in a neighborhood boutique when I went to grab lunch.

Caroline Kennedy said she lost weight after her mother died and it took her two years to recover both mentally and physically.
Angelina has gone through a pregnancy(breast feeding), stress of the paps always around to her mother dying. Give her a break. She taking a year off because she knows she needs it. After that year if she is still the same weight than I will agree with the negative posters but right now I think she looks amazing.
Oceans Photos
Again the Palais was humming for the photo call. Huge crowds gathered beyond barricades and screaming when the cast walked back and forth across the walkway.
Also a surge to get into the press conference – female journalists losing their **** over George Clooney. He obliged with autographs and a few laughs. And they went ballistic too over Brad who was less jovial than George but still in good spirits.
The press conference itself to me anyway felt like one big inside joke. Serious answers few and far between – why get cerebral about it anyway? George made a movie so he could hang out with his boys and promote it in Cannes. That’s it..seriously…and it shows.
From my vantage point, they were all super super relaxed, except for Ellen Barkin. Ellen Barkin looked like she was about to throw up. Love Don Cheadle. LOVE HIM. Love the easy way they mill about, like a traveling frat house with a great wardrobe and Grey Goose instead of beer. George is definitely the ring leader, the natural #1. Brad defers, he and Matt keep sneaking conspiratorial glances kinda goofing on George, the others just hang back and smirk at his irreverence. Makes you feel like you’re in high school again, the cool crew that walks around under a halo and everyone follows them around and you so want to be part of it but you don’t even bother to hope because to hope would mean possibility and you know there is none anyway.
Sure there are the few who will resent. A few journalists who press the “tough” questions to rail against the power of the privileged but they’d also in a heartbeat drop the bitterness if ever handed that exclusive invitation of acceptance.
That’s what it’s like to be at an Ocean’s 13 event.
As for tonight’s big premiere – needless to say, everyone is waiting for a Brad/Angie encore and the French are saying she’s already left but no one knows for sure as everyone is marvelling at how impressively tightly sealed their itinerary has been. Which just goes to show you, when they want to fly under the radar, they so totally can.
Ps. Have I mentioned how thin George is? It’s weird. He looks much older in photos but also less gaunt.
PPS. The way Brad Pitt walks? Honestly the sexiest gait I’ve ever seen.

Wow! I came home and had the best welcome, those wonderful pictures of Brad and Angie. Angie is so beautiful, it takes your breath away. Chill, would ya. She’s not that thin. If you look at her torso, she’s lean. You can’t count the rib bones in her upper chest, so she’s not ridiculously skinny. Everyone seems to be talking about the woman’s weight. I’ve noticed for a LONG time that the woman is really thin. When I first saw the movie Mr. and Mrs. Smith, I noted how thin she really was. At the premiere for that movie, she looks about the same size she is here. If she’s “anorexic” here, then she was “anorexic” for a LONG time. I always thought she could pick up some a few pounds, but that didn’t just start!! Anyway, I’ve seen women who looked a lot worse, aka Kate Bosworth. Stop HATING!!

ok, the pics that ppl posted earlier where it looked like Angie was maybe adjusting Brad’s bowtie…well I’m watching Extra right now and they showed video of it, and what happened was:
Brad and Angie walking towards each other, they embrace—he put his hands around her waist, she cups his face in her hands (thats why they were up like that)and then touches his neck and chest before putting her arm around him.

He has the most awesome, kind and maternal woman he could ever ask for. If you are a fan of his, then you should merely wish him the best. AJ got herself a good man and believe me all the negative tabs, smear jobs by so called reputable writers and whiny from hens will not change that. BP has a good woman and the family he always wanted. Move on. Oh, then I state that they both look great.

Yessss! Review of Ocean’s 13 from Variety

As smooth as a good mojito, as stylish as an Armani suit and as meaningful in the grand scheme of things as yesterday’s Las Vegas betting odds, “Ocean’s Thirteen” continues the breezy good times of the first two series entries without missing a beat. By returning the action to Vegas, producer Jerry Weintraub and director Steven Soderbergh recapture the feel of the 2001 original after the 2004 European detour that bugged some fans. With George, Brad, Matt and the rest pulling another ultra-cool con without breaking a sweat, and with Al Pacino ideal as their new nemesis, Warner Bros. can bet on cashing in for yet another franchise payday.
Script by Brian Koppelman and David Levien, who penned the sharp gambling-world drama “Rounders,” puts all its dramatic chips on the anticipated comeuppance of a thoroughly reprehensible baddie. Egomaniacal Vegas kingpin Willy Bank (Pacino) has screwed the beloved Reuben Tishkoff (Elliott Gould) out of his part ownership in Bank’s latest venture, the Strip’s most grandiose and luxurious hotel-casino. Bank’s unscrupulous reputation preceded him, but Reuben made the mistake of trusting him since they are among the few pioneers left old enough to have shaken Sinatra’s hand.
With Reuben in critical condition from shock, Danny Ocean (George Clooney) and Rusty Ryan (Brad Pitt) gather the clan together again to avenge their mentor. The Bank, as the new pleasure palace is known, is to bow July 3, and the men swiftly concoct a fantastically complicated high-tech scheme to sabotage the opening, divest Bank of his riches, ruin his reputation and restore Reuben to health and wealth in one fell swoop.
No problem for these guys, except that Bank’s empire, and the systems that are in place to secure it, appear to be impregnable. Much of the fun, then, stems from the dizzying ways in which Ocean’s team surmounts the difficulties: Dice is magnetized in Mexico, card shufflers and slot machines are rigged, a camera is snuck into Bank’s office, would-be high-rollers are brought in and pulled out. Most audaciously, an earthquake is artificially stimulated under the Bank (using a giant drill formerly used to carve out the Chunnel — specifically, the one that started on the French side), forcing the evacuation of the casino at a crucial moment.
On top of all this, when Ocean runs low on funds, he’s forced to turn to Terry Benedict (Andy Garcia), his adversary in the first film, for further financing, which is forthcoming on one condition–that Ocean steal the diamonds Bank has hidden away in an unreachable place in his building. A problem but, again, no problem.
So much for the high stakes. What seems to obsess Bank most is the Five Diamond Award, a top hotel ranking he’s achieved at all his other establishments worldwide. Pic’s most amusing subplot involves Carl Reiner’s Sal Bloom posing as an evaluator assessing the Bank during its soft opening run while the real ratings man, played by David Paymer in ultra-schleppy victim mode, is beset by all manner of ill-treatment by hotel staff, real and otherwise.
Last but not least, Linus Caldwell (Damon) turns up as the ultra-efficient (and fake schnozzed) Man Friday to would-be high-roller Mr. Weng (Shaobo Qin) in order to romantically distract Bank’s sharp-eyed No. 2 (Ellen Barkin) during the opening festivities.
Most of the action plays out at the imposing Bank hotel, a faintly absurd but nonetheless amazing twisting structure that dominates the Vegas skyline thanks to impeccable CGI work and impresses via the interiors conjured by production designer Philip Messina. Unlike “Ocean’s Eleven,” which locationed in a genuine casino, new film was shot on a lavish set built on Warner Bros.’ biggest soundstage. The main room is a double-level, balconied affair with an Asian motif. Decor is dominated by sumptuous golds and reds, with money dripping from every frame as Soderbergh, under his nom de camera Peter Andrews, shoots this one more steadily and glamorously than he did the first entry.
As before, most of the scenes are deliberately underplayed banter sessions dominated by quick give-and-take, knowing exchanges and sly understatement among a members-only troupe. Everyone looks their best and knows they can never be one-upped, as befits some of Hollywood’s biggest stars brandishing a we-know-we-have-it-and-you-don’t unflappable cool that stops short of the arrogance some detected in “Ocean’s Twelve.”
Only moments of something remotely resembling reflection and emotion are delivered in pic’s most appealing scene, in which Danny and Rusty, either toward dawn or dusk, walk along a street deliberately framed to accentuate trees and an elegant, Euro-style backdrop and discuss Reuben and the Vegas they used to know before everything changed.
Cast, fab production values and a pace that never flags keep the fizz on the series. Another entry is indicated by the final dialogue exchanges. Taking his leave, Damon tells Clooney and Pitt, “See you when I see you.” Pitt then bids adieu to Clooney with own little in-jokes, “Hey! Next time! Keep the weight off. Have a couple of kids.” (LMAO)

Never thought I’d see the day Angie wore this color of dress. She looks AMAZING. They look so adorable together. Aaahhh. I see some people are losing their sh*t over these pictures. First of all, didn’t the haters used to say that Brad wasn’t showing PDA to Angie the way he used to his exes? Well, now the tune has changed to he used to show PDAs to his exes and so this is nothing new. Oh the irony. :) Also, that Angie is being clingy because she’s holding onto Brad, well, weren’t you the same people who said she was not in love with him because she didn’t look at him with love or hold him at all? Oh the irony. :) And for the ones who are saying they don’t look in love, well, you’ve been saying that since 2005. It’s 2007. :)

Brad is probably really proud of her. He doesn’t seem to be the kind of man who is concerned with being upstaged by anyone and certainly he appears confident enough to not feel threatened by the mother of his children plus with his dark sense of humor, he is probably getting a real kick out of the attention she gets.

Across the board…there is no comparison. This is the understatement of the thread. BP is no ordinary man and AJ is no ordinary woman.
In any relationship in a competitive situation where both parties have the same career there has to be not just similarities but an equality in presence, stature and capabilities (able to or likely to) and abilities(the ability and skill to do) eg A-listers congregate with A-listers. As I’ve posted in the past: Like congregate with Like and those who don’t fit in will eventually fall by the wayside and find their own niche. It’s human nature to want to fit in and be accepted in a group as an equal. I don’t think JA ever fit in…so be it.

I for one glad Ange lost last night, if you can call it at that. It only showed that she loved, and I’m sure she still loves, her mom so much. I agree. I admire Angie and think she is a great actress and humanitarian, but she really needs to put on some weight. She has a heavy schedule with work, her humanitarian activities and four children on top of all that, and she needs to keep her health
