OlderJoaquin’s Glasses Get The Best Of Him
Joaquin Phoenix was in France on Friday, May 25, 2007 at the 60th International Cannes Film Festival to promote the film We Own The Night.
Phoenix , 32, was accompanied by the rest of the principle cast characters (sans Mark Wahlberg) of We Own The Night. By his side are Eva Mendes, Robert Duvall, and writer/director James Gray (The Yards).
We Own The Night is a drama set at the height of a bloody 1980s struggle between Gotham cops and a Russian mob that targeted law officers and their families. That led the NYPD to hang “We Own the Night” banners in precinct houses and step up their efforts. Wahlberg and Phoenix play siblings in a cop-dominated family, with Phoenix the black sheep who ends up managing a Russian mob-controlled nightclub.

Joaquin is always handsome and adorable, a breath of fresh air with his humor and wit at these stuffy events. His talent and good looks are boundless. He’s a sweet, kind person.

I’ve been a fan of Joaquins for 12+ years and he has had those same god damn shoes all these years! I love him but damnit it’s time to get some new ones. He’s at CANNES for gosh sakes wear something new!!!! love ya Joaquiny..but please we need a change..the whole im too good for fashion look is getting way too old for us fans.

It is good to see Joaquin. We see so little of him. He does not dog the spotlight for constant attention the way some of the stars do; you only see him when he is promoting his work. This is good, because when you see him, it is exciting. Some observers are getting caught up in his looks and the comparison between him and his bother, River. They are two different souls. I think what makes Joaquin interesting is his soul. He seems a bit wacky at time, but it is a cover up to hide the true character, which is an intense serious man with a whole lot of depth.
I´ve read somewhere, that he is a vegeterian and he doesn´t wear leather clothes. Maybe he wears those same shoes all the time, because they are made from leather, and he doesn´t want to buy new ones, before the old are really broken? Anyway, he is a great actor and not that bad looking either. Sorry my english, I´m from Finland.
Satu-he doesn’t wear leather or any other animal products. The shoes he wears in all his movies are not leather even Walk The Line boots.
