Time Magazine sat down with some of the stars of Ocean’s 13 — Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Matt Damon, Ellen Barkin — on the terrace at the Hotel du Cap in Cannes, France.
Here’s are some funny excerpts:
On the subject of charisma, you’ve each been called the last great movie star at one point or another. Are we really running out of movie stars, and is that, like, a problem?
CLOONEY: The last real movie stars were probably Redford and Newman. And things were different then. There wasn’t this amazing amount of magazines and information about them.
DAMON: We didn’t know anything about them.
CLOONEY: There was mystique. They’re 60 feet high, and you paid your buck and a half to go see them. But that’s gone. People know everything about everybody now.
PITT: Jaws came along and proved you could make huge money with blockbusters, and it set this thing in motion that has lowered the subject matter. People like George have been getting good stuff out there, but it’s an industry that pushes people out on the big stage too fast, before they’re ready, and it eats them up as well. It’s a different kind of arena now.
BARKIN: Think about it. Do we know anything about Robert Redford’s children? Does he even have any?
DAMON: I worked with him, and I don’t know.
PITT: I have four, if you haven’t heard.
As we’re talking, there are paparazzi in boats out in the harbor taking pictures. Having just been through the celebrity muck of Cannes, who gets it the worst?
CLOONEY: There’s no question, it’s Brad.
PITT: Well, exponentially, with us together …
CLOONEY: But even before he was with [Angelina Jolie], we used to chum the water with him.
PITT: This is not a joke. They used to send me out to take the hits.
CLOONEY: We were at the airport in Italy. So I walk off the plane, and it’s “Hey, Giorgio!” And I go, “Look! Brad Pitt!” and they’re gone.
DAMON: You described it once as “People were stepping on our faces trying to get to Brad.”
PITT: Ah, well, I don’t take it as a compliment.

A Mighty Heart, Mariane Pearl’s memoir about her husband, reporter Daniel Pearl, who was murdered by al-Qaeda, has been made into a movie starring Angelina Jolie. It opens June 22. Co-author Sarah Crichton and movie director Michael Winterbottom will discuss the book and preview the movie. Pearl dropped out of the panel.
“Angelina Jolie was shooting a commercial for Japan right next door to us,” Silverman says. “And we all decided to write outside that day. She came over and said hi and said she watches the show. She’s so strikingly beautiful.
“None of us could work the rest of the day until we knew she was gone. It was so pathetic.”

Angelina looked amazing in all three events plus the one on one interviews. There are very few women that can have three distinctive
looks (head to toe) and look great in all of them.

I was watching E News… Peecrust announced the winner of their O13 contest. After congratulating the winner, Peecrest , through clinched teeth, said that he hoped that the winner will have a good time at the LA O13 premiere and that E will not be there because they weren’t invited!
Did anyone else see this, because maybe I imagined this?

LOL. Can you NOT invite someone to a Red Carpet? I thought they could just hang around on the red carpet or something like that and thrust the microphone into your face. Obviously I wuz wrong.
Since following Brad and Angelina news, it did seem to me that the tablies and entertainment news shows have gone out of control. They say the nastiest horriblest things and then expect the celebrities to play nice to them when they want them to.
I’m not sure if excluding a major entertainment news show from a major movie premier has happened before. If not, then this exclusion of Peecrust by the GANG seems to be signal that the really big celebrities, the ones whom the entertainment news shows and tablies and blogs are fighting to cover, are changing the rules of the game.
And indeed, why not. There are now, so many entertainment news shows, so many tablies, so many blogs covering celebrities and movies. And almost all of these tablies and entertainment shows are INTERCHANGEABLE (unless you carve a niche for yourself like People Magazine). Do anyone of us bother to say - “ooohhh, I only want to watch peecrust and not anyone else”. LOL, I’m guessing here but I’d say NO.
So, if a celebrity drops you, there are dozens more willing and happy to step into the game. The fans won’t miss a thing because it’s not like they are fans of Peecrust or anyone of these entertainment news hosts anyway.
And if the “dropped one” then slags a movie or celebrity whilst others praise it, well, others are more than happy to point to the fact that its probably because they hadn’t been invited to the play in the game and are being sour grapes (see Jossip’s commentary on A*S Weakly’s report about Angelina’s double twisted life) which then discredits the show or tablie even more.
IIf the rules of the game are changing this way, then it’s gonna be fun watching how the celebrities and tablies/entertainment news shows and blogs manage the situation. In any case, I’m pretty confident that Brad and Angelina will play the game with class.
Silverman says she’s not one to get star-struck — even with British singer/songwriter Amy Winehouse performing and such stars as Cameron Diaz, Bruce Willis and John Travolta gathering under the Gibson Amphitheatre at Universal City.
She does concede that last month, while she was working on her Sarah Silverman Program (which returns to Comedy Central this fall), she found herself obsessed with a special visitor to the studio lot.

I’m happy Brad did not have any comments when Ellen Barkin was talking about the tabloids, I guess Brad and Angie do not pay them the slightest attention. The guys have a good rapport. Are Ben and Matt still best buddies?

Thanks for posting that video of Brad with the platinum hair and red leather jacket–I don’t remember thinking it was a good look for him, but up close he looked adorable anyway.
I think Gerry Penacoli(sp) was just right. He was totally star-struck, not trying at all to be too cool, even giggled a lot! Brad was very relaxed as a result. I got the feeling Angelina was in the background…he kept looking behind Gerry, making little comments for her benefit, etc. Lucky, lucky, lucky Angie…
