The Lucky Stars of Ocean’s 13

The Lucky Stars of Ocean’s 13

Time Magazine sat down with some of the stars of Ocean’s 13Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Matt Damon, Ellen Barkin — on the terrace at the Hotel du Cap in Cannes, France.

Here’s are some funny excerpts:

On the subject of charisma, you’ve each been called the last great movie star at one point or another. Are we really running out of movie stars, and is that, like, a problem?
CLOONEY: The last real movie stars were probably Redford and Newman. And things were different then. There wasn’t this amazing amount of magazines and information about them.
DAMON: We didn’t know anything about them.
CLOONEY: There was mystique. They’re 60 feet high, and you paid your buck and a half to go see them. But that’s gone. People know everything about everybody now.
PITT: Jaws came along and proved you could make huge money with blockbusters, and it set this thing in motion that has lowered the subject matter. People like George have been getting good stuff out there, but it’s an industry that pushes people out on the big stage too fast, before they’re ready, and it eats them up as well. It’s a different kind of arena now.
BARKIN: Think about it. Do we know anything about Robert Redford’s children? Does he even have any?
DAMON: I worked with him, and I don’t know.
PITT: I have four, if you haven’t heard.

As we’re talking, there are paparazzi in boats out in the harbor taking pictures. Having just been through the celebrity muck of Cannes, who gets it the worst?
CLOONEY: There’s no question, it’s Brad.
PITT: Well, exponentially, with us together …
CLOONEY: But even before he was with [Angelina Jolie], we used to chum the water with him.
PITT: This is not a joke. They used to send me out to take the hits.
CLOONEY: We were at the airport in Italy. So I walk off the plane, and it’s “Hey, Giorgio!” And I go, “Look! Brad Pitt!” and they’re gone.
DAMON: You described it once as “People were stepping on our faces trying to get to Brad.”
PITT: Ah, well, I don’t take it as a compliment.

Hey… I go to Wal-Mart… but I prefer Target! ;)

While Wal-Mart is the place to get cleaning and other household supplies, I noticed that they’re not very good about restocking their magazine shelves, especially the weekly publications. Yes, Vogue is a monthly mag, but if they’re sluggish about supplying their weeklies, imagine how they are with their monthlies.

Oh… we got the January Vogue… in December. I guess we’ll put them on the shelves the second week of January. Yeah… that’ll be alright!!

CLOONEY: When other politicians stop and listen, that’s how you know what charisma is. You can’t teach that. He walks into a room and you go, “That’s a leader.”

**********************************************
Charisma….that Angie, Brad, George have and others not.

Personally, the limelight and hullaballoo that surround Clooney and Pitt repels me and keeps me from watching or renting anything they’re in. I refuse to spend a dime or my time on their work…they obviously have many other fans to fill their coffers. I also could care less about their politics and their causes. I don’t need them to remind me why it’s important to educate myself and care about the world I live in…I do that already. If people only care about causes because celebrities do, their interest will wax and wane with the cycle of the moon.

+++++++++++++

I hate to break this to you, but unless you’re blogging on your employer’s dime, at the local library, or bumming off relatives…you ARE spending your dime on Pitt and Clooney’s work.

These haters kill me…if you don’t like someone…then stay the fcuk away from them. How hard is that? If you come to their blogs to ***** about them, then exactly what purpose does that serve other than to annoy the fans? I guarantee you that your b#tching isn’t changing the minds of anyone here. I don’t like Porgie myself and I rag on him for fun, but you’re just pissin’ about to make trouble on the blog. Don’t you have a dog or little kid to go kick?

Piper…I LOVE Wal-mart! My friends are always laughing at me because they hate the SuperCenter. I can go there and wander around for a couple of hours and amuse myself endlessly with people watching.

The vendors who service Wal-marts here are very good at keeping mags in the stores. Too bad I can’t say the same thing about how well Wal-mart keeps THEIR shelves stocked! Have you ever been able to go into Wal-mart with a shopping list and find everything on the list in the brand and size that you want? I certainly haven’t. Half the freaking Walton family lives in this town, so you’d think they could light a fire under their employees!

#382 - You’ve discovered my evil, maniacal plan…MUWHAHAHAHAHA. Whatever. Wow, you’re really pissed…careful, you may pop a gasket. Commenting on JJ’s site is such a guilty pleasure…it’s like admitting that I actually watched “Pirate Master” last night and sort of liked it. No disrespect to you, JJ, you run an obviously successful infotainment site.

But seriously, YOU, oh #382, seem to be doing the hating, while I was merely commenting on an open forum using my God-given American right to free speech and my absolutely own free time because I work for myself and care for my kids without having to kick them.

Perhaps using the terms “wax” and “wane” was bit too much for you to handle…sorry, I’ve been DYING to use those words in some way or another. I promise to work on my vernacular.
