And if you look clearly at the picture it looks like she’s outside the restaurant, probably in the veranda with MEMBERS OF HER FAMILY - who are surely used to see her breastfeed. So no, she’s not showing off her boob to the diners inside. She’s probably in a quiet corner with her family, feeding her baby. And unfortunately, a pervert thought it’d be cool to snap this.

Like someone said above, the baby seems to be playing with her boob. Because if she was really breasfeeding she should have her mouth around the aerola not the nipple - which is th e proper method to breastfeed. Still, you’d still see some flesh but not as much as like it it on the pic. And remember, the paps shots are usually taken in quick succession. I guess Ramona must have just finished feeding and her mother surely pulled her top back up but the sick snapper didn’t show us that, did he?

And to the psycho who suggested that women should breastfeed their babies in the toilet, FU CK YOU!! I bet you’d be happy to eat your burger in the restroom, right? A ss hole!! Because a baby’s health and protection vs germs don’t matter to you, right?? you moronic piece of garbage. I hope yoou’re not a woman with children and you don’t do this to your baby. If it was a mamma dog and her puppies you would think breast feeding is cute. Get a clue people- it’s the SAME thing!

Funny my family is ignorant about this like most of the readers here- my 28 mo old bfeeds still and never causes a mess like formula fed babies- no spit up. (like my brother worries about at his house- thinks I will squirt all over the place- it doesn’t work like that!) My brother when we were kids was “interested” in my breasts - now for some reason he’s disgusted by my bfeeding. USA men have issues and I am glad I am in CA where I can do as I need to when and where I have to.

As far as planning ahead and prepping a bottle- that takes time and babies keep you occupied. Some people can’t afford the couple hundred for the pump and some babies are never fed by bottle (esp the first mo) some babies never learn or outgrow the bottle and my son won’t take my milk from anywhere but me anymore. (no cup or bottle) in the end had to throw out some stored milk for him…he wants it fresh!

She’s feeding her baby, not having sex with him - which I think is why so many people are offended by the pic. People are thinking that the baby is sucking on her breast like its some kind of sexual act, and its not. Breastfeeding is the most natural thing a human-being can do. She is a mother for goodness sake and she is giving her child food. What is wrong with some of you people. Some of you need to grow up.

Breastfeeding is what breasts were made for. They’re not sexual objects or to be used as sex toys, they’re meant to give babies their food. Why are people so ignorant about this topic? Is she suppose to go run off and hide herself like she committed some crime? Is she supposed to feel disgusted while doing it like its some kind of unnatural thing to do?

For the last ******* time, breastfeeding is why breasts were made!!

To those saying this is natural and people should just deal with it - going to the bathroom is about as natural as it gets, but you don’t see people inflicting it on unsuspecting passersby. (’passersby’? weird - said it too many times, kinda like ‘foiled’. random; moving on).
OK, there is the guy who whips it out to p**s in public, but - and this is key - that’s frowned upon. This should be as well, especially when done outside of a cafe, FSS. That sight is enough to make you gladly skip the most important meal of the day… for days on end.

I agree we shouldn’t care, but society has placed that stigma on us. It’s largely thought of as a sexual thing and to expose it , even for your child is still a bit taboo. We feel like even discreetly nursing in public will clearly make alot of people uncomfortable. That isn’t something we’d like to expose our children to. We teach manners,and appropriate behaviors to our children so others will like our them . To undo all that teaching with a ‘like it or not’ approach just seems counterproductive to moving breast feeding ahead in society. Maybe if she had showed a little discretion this whole issue would never have been brought up. At 8 months (my friend has an 11 month old) she should be able to wait or even take a cup. At the very least lifting your shirt from the bottom seems to cover quite a bit more than pulling it wide open like this.

Breast feeding - beautiful and bonding between mother and child. Fine. Liberating. OK, yeah, you should be able to feed a hungry child where and whenever. Attractive to look at for anyone not intimately involved with the parties involved? Debateable. Her breast make me think of an old Dalmatian ***** after a litter. It was intrusive of the paparazzi to take the photo and foolish of her to give them the opportunity. A person’s sense of discretion says alot about their upbringing, and their own sense of worth.

Whooo hoooo! I applaud Maggie. That is awesome. It looks as tho she has a very comfortable, well established nursing relationship with her babe. Ramona seems to be growing big strong and happy on her momma milk! just beatiful :)

ITA, Joan. I think Maggie figured out that she was photographed breastfeeding Ramona last month and is now using Ramona to make a political statement regarding breastfeeding when she-like all La Leche League nutjobs-should be more concerned with feeding her child while simultaneously respecting the comfort levels of those around her. It is really not difficult. I see women breastfeed in public all the time without showing a stitch of skin. People like Maggie who shove their breasts out of their shirt for everyone to see are trying pathetically hard to shove their personal beliefs down everyone else’s throats when in reality it is people like them who turn others off to NIP (nursing in public) altogether.

WAIT…if everyone else gets to eat, why can’t Ramona? A blanket would probably been too heavy and made Ramona too hot, why not just let her eat. We don’t ever see anything on here about people protesting boobs being shown in movies, but when something like this happens, its a flippin’ natural disaster!

I breastfed my daughter, but when I had to give her a bottle, she got too used to that and didn’t want to feed off of me, and I hated pumping, so since it seemed my daughter sensed that it was natural to smell me with a bottle in her mouth, she could no longer take a bottle from me, and that is how we broke her of not breast feeding….there are many different reasons for babies not using bottles with mothers who breastfeed.

And Diana….as far as the whole droopy boobs go, you must not have a clue what you are talking about

not all infants will nurse off a bottle, especially if in a “mood”. as to the blanket to cover, a lot of infants wont feed covered either. this is not to say all, but it must be considered.
to say that breast feeding is a beautiful bond, sure it can be, but it is also feeding. feeding is a necessity, so public breast feeding without cover will have to occur. it is unreasonable to make an infant forgo food, for or own emotional comfort. let alone that we are so disturbed by a woman naturally feeding her child, as most of our mothers fed us.
