Jolie Joins Council on Foreign Relations
UN Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie has joined forces with foreign policy organization Council on Foreign Relations, reports People.
Other members include: presidents Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter, ABC’s Diane Sawyer, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and journalist Tom Brokaw.
Vice president of communications at CFR Lisa Shields said, “Angelina Jolie is accomplished in her field and has demonstrated serious interest in issues such as Darfur, international education and refugees. As such, her profile fits very well with other young professionals we’ve selected as the next generation of foreign policy leaders.”
Jolie recently told Esquire in their June issue: “When I die, do I want to be remembered as an actress? No. I recently had a column published in a newspaper and at the end it didn’t say I was an actress. It said that I was a UN Goodwill Ambassador – that’s all. And I was really proud.”

Thanks jared for the news. I’m delighted for Angelina. Good for her.
When I saw some of the others in the Council, people whose names I recognised (I believe some the captains of industry are in the council and I don’t think they are particularly into foreign policy except insofar as it will help support the business interests of their company) I knew that she would get in.

Okay REMIX REMIX REMIX
Congrats to Angelina jolie on joining the Council on Foreign Relations. The council will get an honest, intelligent and curious member who will bring committment to world affairs and aid relief to refugees, children and orphans throughout the world. AJ is an amazing woman with drive, determination and the will to effect changes. BP is also a good human being who wants to bring about changes in the world. The two have influenced their peers as well as regular citizens to get involved and make a difference. From speaking on Capitol Hill, making trips for her UN duties and her charitable donations, AJ is more than an Actress but a leader of this generation. I wish BAMPZS all the best.
Congrats to Angelina! It is such a honor to be selected to this council.
Congratulations. We need more people like you.
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congratulations Angelina.

Congratulation Angie !!!!!
You found real purpose in life.
You will continue to grow to experience life to the full and continue to surprise us.
More power to you !!!!!

Mission of CFR
Its mission is promoting understanding of foreign policy and America’s role in the world. Meetings are convened at which government officials, global leaders and prominent members debate major foreign-policy issues. It has “a think tank” that employs prominent scholars in international affairs and it commissions subsequent books and reports. A central aim of the Council, it states, is to “find and nurture the next generation of foreign policy leaders”. It established “Independent Task Forces” in 1995, which encourage policy debate. Comprised of experts with diverse backgrounds and expertise, these task forces seek consensus in making policy recommendations on critical issues; to date, the Council has convened more than fifty times.
The internal “think tank” is the The David Rockefeller Studies Program, which grants fellowships and whose programs are described as being integral to the goal of contributing to the ongoing debate on foreign policy; fellows in this program research and write on the most important challenges facing the United States and the world.
At the outset of the organization, founding member Elihu Root said the group’s mission, epitomized in its journal Foreign Affairs, should be to “guide” American public opinion. In the early 1970s, the CFR changed the mission, saying that it wished instead to “inform” public opinion.
God bless Angie. Congratulations.
Congrats to Angelina!! Keep on keeping on. This is the real world where all the power is.
Thanks JJ.
Congrats.
