OlderJolie Joins Council on Foreign Relations
UN Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie has joined forces with foreign policy organization Council on Foreign Relations, reports People.
Other members include: presidents Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter, ABC’s Diane Sawyer, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and journalist Tom Brokaw.
Vice president of communications at CFR Lisa Shields said, “Angelina Jolie is accomplished in her field and has demonstrated serious interest in issues such as Darfur, international education and refugees. As such, her profile fits very well with other young professionals we’ve selected as the next generation of foreign policy leaders.”
Jolie recently told Esquire in their June issue: “When I die, do I want to be remembered as an actress? No. I recently had a column published in a newspaper and at the end it didn’t say I was an actress. It said that I was a UN Goodwill Ambassador – that’s all. And I was really proud.”

So the reason Peacreast wasn’t at the rc is because Brad had him banned? But tonight E showed their delayed rc show with Sal and Guilani D. as hosts. Brad did a brief interview with her, and Angie smiled and said little. If there was a ban how come these two?

I don’t think so. E! itself wasn’t banned I don’t believe. Same with other entertainment shows and legitimate reporters of entertainment news. Those shows aren’t always positive about the Jolie-Pitts either. Peacreast sucks ass, but he doesn’t write gossip. Though I can imagine they sent someone else so it wouldn’t be awkward. Really Ted is making a big deal out of nothing. The only people who were truly banned were the bottom feeding gossip columnist, meaning himself and people like In Touch and others. They have been banned before. It’s nothing new.
Ted is old hat. He can’t compete with people like Perez anymore. He’s 20 years too old to bother. You know Lainey has been saying forever news does NOT get out of the Jolie-Pitt camp, meaning tabloids have no sources at all. They are totally tight and without leaks. As much stuff as is being written about them, I don’t think they are really trying to control everything. But they will try to control some.
WOW! As in WOW! Congratulations Angie. You really deserved to be in that exclusive Council on Foreign Relations. I mean to be included in that organization really speaks something about you. It is because they can see you’re SMART who can be a good, credible foreign policy leader. You’re willing to learn (in fact, you’re studying international law) in order not to be just emotional about humanitarian problems facing other countries.
God is so good to you because He knows your Heart. You’re really one in a million…blessed of almost everything because you’re a good person.A good mom to your kids, & a good better-half of Brad. I am sure Brad is truly proud of this latest achievement, that of being a new member of CFR.

She was an amazing talented young actress who has grown in to an outstanding WOMAN with a purpose in life.
A wonderful partner to Brad (they compliment each other),a loving mom of four kids, a woman with so much compassion that make MANY people uneasy!

She really does not care about what people who constantly critisize her say or think about her since she doesn’t even read the trashoids.

#116: Maybe Angie hadn’t minded all that bad press that the tabs were giving her (and him at times but Brad certainly did. Could it be his way of saying that if you lie through your teeth to make us look bad, then you will never get to see the real us. We will only talk to legitimate press and you the tab writers can stay outside to gawk or write more lies. Just watch out for the lawsuits.
I read somewhere that it was Brad and Angie’s adviser Trevor Nelson (?)who nominated Angie to the council. I hope someone can confirm.
everytime angie is into this, the world celebrates. Of course, for her, this is but another inspiration to touch the lives of those who needed her most.
I can see how inspired brad must be. And the jolie-pitt kids — watch them grow up with the same compassion that brad and angie is instilling into them.

There are those who believe that Brad should stand up and make statements about his love for Angelina etc. Looks like Brad is more an action type of guy and has chosen to show exactly where he stands and not just talk about it.

ITA. Brad and Angie know what works for them. Angie is fine with her man doing things the way he does it.
You know, I love this quote from the Marie Claire interview. Angie is talking about how Brad was there for her after her mother’s death.
“He helped me through everything: finding the place to have her cremated, talking to the nurses. The strongest memory I have is him holding my brother when my brother was crying.”
It’s also Pitt, she says, who understands how important it is to sustain the memory of her mother. “He would get me talking-and still does-about the things about her that were special. So I feel like there’s somebody who will always be able to tell my kids who she was.”
Angie.. I’m so proud to hear of your accomplishments.. so completely generous, kind.. I am thankful for her ability to promote this world change. People are listening to her! She is making a HUGE difference! There is no denying the fact that her power in those global efforts cause significant shifts in public opinion and education of mainstream America and other fortunate countries. What an HONOR to be remembered for being such a positive force in the world! Girl, you rock!!!!
My own children grow to see this beautiful public figure actually cares and empathizes with poverty and disease, and I can tell you that her life will be remembered in Global History for centuries. The actions she takes on behalf of those who have no choice are what will be remembered forever.
Angie, you give me the emotional strength to carry on in teaching children in poverty here on the border of third world nations. There are some who see you as only rich glamorous woman, but I see you as a savior for those who need the world to see them. Awareness will bring peace, and Angie, you are an angel for peace in my world. God bless you, and you are welcome to come visit our struggling children here in our schools if you ever find yourself on the Mexico border.

I read it was her adviser Trever Nelson.
He is a member of this council.
But I think there could be some other people who recommended her as well.
He worked for Bill Gates Foundation before and now works as an adviser for some companies.

Thank you well said. Angie said that Brad is the type of person who thinks things through before he does anything. I agree he has probably thought this through and has his ducks all in a row. I wasn’t wishing for Peacreast. I am just trying to understand what is happening? I hadn’t seen anything about Ted C., I mean what was happening to him, and why? Then I read a post stating that peacreast wouldn’t be on the rc and I was just trying to find out why. Can’t stand him, can’t stand him.
I am just too happy for BAMPZS. Angie is a truly good role model and an example of someone turning their life around for good and service. Truly the tabs won’t be able to find anything bad about her appointment. Maybe this will shut them up for awhile. Brad loves this woman and shows it the way he feels comfortable doing so. He said in an interview that his family didn’t show each other a lot of emotion. I think he is very open and demonstrative about his feelings. These people do things their way. Peace.

Excuse me to #166- my response was factual regarding who nominated Angie. I am a big fan of Angie and I don’t think that Trevor Nelson nominating her detracts from the achievement of being accepted in CFR. After all the members get to vote and have a say if she is qualified. This fact was publicized when the news of her nomination first came out. I have no hidden agendas except to answer The Real Tita’s question.

Oprah has really missed out on a golden opportunity. She could have had Angie on for AMH, CFR appointment and Refugee Day. Now all she will have is an x. I will say no more. I hope Larry King is awake and talking a little faster than he was while doing TGS interview. The man is too slow. Now he is worried that AC is getting more air time than he is. When Angie did her first interview with AC, LK was miffed. He felt he should have gotten it.
A hater on one of the others threads said that when Angie was on Dateline the ratings numbers were low. If I remember correctly her interview was opposite the finale of Lost. GMAB Lost finale? NBC was stupid to schedule it opposite Lost in the first place. Peace and good night.
