“I hope we got some part of Danny’s life and spirit in this movie,” Jolie said to Judea and Ruth. “I hope that we have made something that speaks to you and to his work.”
The sold-out event raised more than $15,000 for the Daniel Pearl Foundation which was formed in memory of journalist Daniel Pearl and is committed to promoting cross-cultural understanding through journalism, music, and innovative communications.
Just Jared caught a screening of A Mighty Heart last night and let’s just say it was beyond moving. [Spoilers ahead!] The documentary-style drama is very real and very emotional. The UK Times summed up the editing best: “The director’s rapid-fire and choppy editing gives you a genuine feel for the many different sides of Karachi, and the urgency of the investigation.”
Angie’s screams of anguish as Marianne Pearl are intense and will have you writhing in your theater seat. Memorable moments include the wedding flashback scene, Angelina dancing (with a bit of tummy showing, if I remember correctly) and the birthing scene of son Adam.
But don’t fret my pets, the ending scene is sweet. There are captions of “current updates” about the Pearls as you watch the backs of Marianne and Adam walking away hand-in-hand. The music also perfectly matched up — I was whistling the tune on my way out of the theater!
A Mighty Heart opens June 22. Catch it if you can!

That’s why she is not with Brad at LV, she was raising money for the charity. Laughing hard at those trolls who are now eating their own foot…..LOL
She is a truly beautiful person on the INSIDE, thats what I love about her. And, obviously she has the outer beauty too.
Say what you will about her body or her love life but : You have to admire her for doing a movie she’s passionate about. She uses her fame to draw attention to world issues and the things that matter most. Unlike so many celebs who would just send a check to a random charity, Angelina has the personal connection w/every charity she gives to. She’s spent years of her career (when she probably COULD have been making millions doing a new movie every month) in refugee camps and war torn countries helping people, offering support to them, and adopting.

*NEWSFLASH TO hmm* Most of Angie’s fans are fairly young and they will go to see any movie she does - she is that famous. That being said, this is not expected to be a summer blockbuster for the masses. Many of the people who will go see this movie will be university students and educated professionals.

I can see that you dont like Angie. She is a good actress and has given award winning perfomances especially when she is potraying a real life person. She did it with Gia and I am sure she has done it in this one. I am 25 years old and I am going to watch this movie.

Thanks JJ for the new thread! Nice to see Daniel Pearl’s parents at the event and acknowledged - they have been through so much too in losing their son. And I’m loving Angie’s outfit - very appropriate for the event! A sexy Versace dress would not be respectful to the occasion.
