OlderAngelina Jolie @ “A Mighty Heart” Screening

“I hope we got some part of Danny’s life and spirit in this movie,” Jolie said to Judea and Ruth. “I hope that we have made something that speaks to you and to his work.”
The sold-out event raised more than $15,000 for the Daniel Pearl Foundation which was formed in memory of journalist Daniel Pearl and is committed to promoting cross-cultural understanding through journalism, music, and innovative communications.
Just Jared caught a screening of A Mighty Heart last night and let’s just say it was beyond moving. [Spoilers ahead!] The documentary-style drama is very real and very emotional. The UK Times summed up the editing best: “The director’s rapid-fire and choppy editing gives you a genuine feel for the many different sides of Karachi, and the urgency of the investigation.”
Angie’s screams of anguish as Marianne Pearl are intense and will have you writhing in your theater seat. Memorable moments include the wedding flashback scene, Angelina dancing (with a bit of tummy showing, if I remember correctly) and the birthing scene of son Adam.
But don’t fret my pets, the ending scene is sweet. There are captions of “current updates” about the Pearls as you watch the backs of Marianne and Adam walking away hand-in-hand. The music also perfectly matched up — I was whistling the tune on my way out of the theater!
A Mighty Heart opens June 22. Catch it if you can!

I have come to a realization that jennifer really isn’t over losing Brad although she keeps telling everyone that she has moved on!

She had already called them a ‘tabloid’ and dismissed them a while back, which apparently People Mag forgave her for, when they saw she was warring with Janice Min of US (figured they could pull her into the fold AND be the ‘Brangelina’ publication of note) - but now that she and Huvane, are pulling that SAME damned stupid stunt they did with US, on People Magazine now (you know, leak the bit of gossip to a rag, then when it breaks big - back off and make the publication look like they don’t know what the hell they are doing), I hope these publications see them for what they are. I loved that they called her dumb, and then praised Hilary Swank (OSCAR WINNER) who is actively involved in making sure people everywhere get clean water, not shilling ‘bottled’ TAP water for 5 bucks a bottle.
If I didn’t know any better I’d think Stephen Huvane is just trying to drive her dumb ass underground and sap that b*tch of her millions. Talk about missteps!! This is fookin’ HILARIOUS!!
I forgot to add, this is so obviously a diversionary tactic. Here we have AJ with the Pearls, showing solidarity…which completely shuts down their deluded notions that the Pearls don’t like AJ playing their son’s wife in the movie.

This film that you decribe as boring was a TRUE and painful story of a heartbreaking time for a wife and expectant mother. I for one will be seeing this film and look forward to seeing Angelinas performance.

First of all, she looks gorgeous in that pic, very elegant. And glad to hear that the movie is wonderful. I’ve been looking forward to this movie since I heard it was in production. I was deeply moved by the book. Thanks JJ for posting this.
Thanks JJ for the review. I am so looking forward to see this movie. Lainey saw it in Cannes and she thinks it is Oscar material too. Love Angie’s concern for humanitarian causes instead of just getting a tan at Malibu.
