OlderGeorge Almost Busts Brad’s Balls
Entertainment Weekly sits down the the bad boys of Ocean’s 13, two of Hollywood’s biggest pranksters — Brad Pitt and George Clooney. Here are some of the highlights!
Clooney: [To Pitt] You bastard!
Pitt: What?
Clooney: I did all these interviews right after you. And all the reporters told me, ”Brad said you did the movie for the money”!
Pitt: [Laughs] I did. Believe I said it was all for the cash.
Clooney: Brutal! [Laughs] How ya doin’?
EW: Good, thanks. So I’ve heard that you guys call this movie Ocean’s Thirteen: The One We Should Have Made Last Time.
Pitt: Credit where credit is due. That was [director] Steven Soderbergh’s line.
Clooney: Steven actually wanted to bill it that way, but I don’t think the studio was so thrilled with that. It f—s up the boxed set.

EW: Do you ever look at each other and go, Hell, I wish I was in the Italian villa instead of changing diapers? Or: Man, I wish I had a couple of those rug rats?
Pitt: No.
Clooney: No.
Pitt: But I tell ya what, kids are a lot of hard work.
Clooney: It’s one of those difficult things [when you’re famous].
EW: Because of the endless scrutiny?
Clooney: Yeah. No one wants to hear you complain, because it sounds like you’re whining. But I think he and Angie have a tougher time living their lives, just going out to see the city with the kids. I mean, look out there, all the boats with the cameras. I was walking around on the beach yesterday and I just thought to myself, Where’s Brad? And all of a sudden you see the cameras all go WHOOOOSSSHH and I was like, Oh, here he comes! I watch that and think, Wow. I know it’s not all that fun for me, and it seems exponentially harder for him.

EW: Who do you like from that younger generation?
Clooney: I’ll tell ya, Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams are both really good actors. Both have great range and can do all kinds of stuff.
Pitt: I think Heath Ledger is really strong, as well.

Clooney: …muddled, right. So you have to pick your fights and go after them, and then it seems like you can help get things done, like the $9 million we’re raising [for Darfur refugees] tonight. [Pitt waves to someone, who turns out to be Angelina Jolie with their 5-year-old son, Maddox. Pitt smiles. Clooney waves and gets no response.] Niiice. Very nice. What am I? No wave for me?

EW: I’m curious what you think of the state of the male movie star in Hollywood right now.
Pitt: I’m actually a woman trapped in a man’s body. We’re going to be doing something about that soon.
EW: Is Angelina aware of this?
Pitt: Yeah, she’s all for it. Kinda into it, actually.

Mission of CFP
Its mission is promoting understanding of foreign policy and America’s role in the world. It’s just the tiniest bit better than Ocean’s Twelve. To be worse, or as bad, the film would have had to have been a single 122-minute shot of 13 dead haddocks on a slab.
it’s available at guardian unlimited- but i think the quotes set the tone-don’t waste your money or your time on this one.

The first thing… too much DiPandi, not enough Sal. Unlike DiPandi, when Sal talked to a celeb, he makes it all about the celeb, not about ‘Where’s George? Where’s Brad and Angelina?’
Next… why did DiPandi interview Tara Reid? She’s not in the movie; she’s not even working. And then DiPandi asked Tara which O13 hunk she wanted to see, DiPandi made it all about her and her preference toward George.
Third… DiPandi did a poor job in talking with the maximum number of O13 cast members in the alloted time. She talked to Barkin, Garcia, Clooney, Bernie Mack (only because George pulled him on the stage) Cheadle/Damon (together) and Brad.
The longest interview was Clooney and it wasn’t Clooney who kept the conversation going. DiPandi broke into her Italian, carrying on a conversation with Clooney. I don’t know if he’s fluent, but at a certain point, George seemed to get uncomfortable. Then she introduced the subject of her wedding, which will be September 1 (ask me how I know this); she then talked about how she and Clooney were just in Italy- not that they ran into each other or anything. And while people insist that George is an attention getter, he was the one who, again, got Bernie Mack on the stage, and DiPandi back on track.
Then came Brad and Angelina. As shown on E News last night, Angelina didn’t come on stage with Brad; essentially, Angelina was on the street and DiPandi tried to carry on an interview despite Angelina not being miked. You could read Angelina’s lips when she, politely, answered DiPandi’s questions, but clearly, DiPandi wouldn’t take no for an answer. And Brad was the last person interviewed- the interview lasted for just over a minute, while everyone else, including Tara Reid, got to talk 2+ minutes. Now, I don’t know if that was Brad’s plan, since he, essentially, excused himself, citing that the movie was going to start, but E didn’t get what they hoped.
Again, DiPandi was on the stage; meanwhile, Sal was working the street. And again, Sal seemed to ask more thoughtful questions and showed respect to everyone he interviewed.
And they employed split screens and picture-in-picture, usually devoting the majority of the screen to Brad and Angelina signing autographs. Personally, if a correspondent has a celeb, that should be the focus, not what the bigger star is doing.
But I have to say… the cast represented themselves well, despite the interference of DiPandi. Some of the best quotes came from the cast- if I wasn’t already going to O13, I would go based on the chemistry/rapport between the cast members.
