‘Ocean’s 13′ Earns $13 Million
Ocean’s Thirteen rolled out an impressive $13.1 million, according to Friday estimates. The heist comedy should easily pick up the No. 1 slot this weekend.
In No. 2 was the Katherine Heigl-Seth Rogen comedy Knocked Up, which brought in $6.2 million during its second week in release.. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End sailed close behind with a cool $6 million.
The stars of Ocean’s Thirteen recently donated over $750,000 to poverty-fighting charity Oxfam. Co-stars Brad Pitt, George Clooney and Matt Damon also donated to Clooney’s Not on Our Watch charity, which helps the inhabitants of Western Sudan.
Clooney has said, “The people of Darfur urgently need the help of organizations like Oxfam.”
UPDATE: Ocean’s 13 pulled in a healthy $37 million at the box offices this weekend. POTC3 sailed away with $21 million with Knocked Up not far behind with $20 million.

They still opened at #1 at the BO and ‘ok’ is better than ‘not ok’. So, I’m happy enough. :)

I agree. I really didnt think it would be number 1. not with the other films out there.. like that Surfs up and Pirates and Shrek. Im shocked that Surfs up wasnt number 1. Usually kids movies like that are first. This is a fun film for adults.. not a sex filled, potty mouthed romp for teenaged boys.
Im very surprised, but pleased, at how well it did, being a third installment.

There you go. I like where you head’s at. It was a good movie. A fun, fluffy movie with that cool factor in place. Papa Pitt looked good and George and Don were cool. They showed some previews of some interesting films that may be worth a watch. Don Cheadle has a new one comming out and o’course Die Hard 25. I am also looking forward to “A Mighty Heart”.
Brad and Angie FOREVER!!

Im not concerned.

Every1 else is. I’m more worried about AMH’s box office success being an indie film released in limited theatres, and competing with big budget blockbuster films.
THANKS posters #165 and #166 for answering my question!!

Oooh what a lovely thread - what gorgeous pics. I can never navigate that JJB board for some weird reason- so thanks for pointing it out Gussie.

I was more worried about Hostel II. Lately, the really gory horror flicks are major money makers.
I was also surprised by Knocked Up. I thought it would overtake Pirates since it’s better reviewed and getting good word of mouth. But then again, it’s an R comedy.

I was watching MAMS today. I started smiling, not for the obvious reasons (it was the unrated version). The scene when they were hiding under the sewer grate… when the conversation turned intimate or sentimental, they started punching each other. I also seeing some outtakes where Angelina playfully punched Brad, specifically during the tango scene. It made me think of the MC article, and IMO, reaffirms that they are still in that childhood crush stage when you can’t verbally express a feeling and just let it rest there. Appreciate the jungle sex stage, but am charmed by the childhood crushing.
Also… in the MC article, Angelina mentioned that both she and Marcheline were in the hospital at the same time and that both were on morphine. I thought about the People spread and the quotes Marcheline contributed to the article. I’m just wondering whether those quotes were delivered by a representative for Marcheline or did she give an interview, whether it was in-person or via phone? The reason why I’m wondering is that maybe People were aware of the state of Marcheline’s health and kept quiet about it.
Mr and Mrs Smith, bdj, leni, jasmine, piper with a low, any other B&A fans lurking:
There is an old pic of Angie and Brad kissing in a store in Paris at the JJB thread. Anyone has it without the magazine caption?
I like this quote from Angelina from today’s Parade magazine.
“I feel like I am getting such a great education,” she says. “Whether people’s thoughts about my family are positive or negative, at the end of the day, I get to come home to these four little people who are the greatest things in the world.” :)

I discovered that board recently, but they always have good B&A threads.
And that one surely has the best pics ever!

Unfortunately, I haven’t been consistent about saving images. But you may want to look on People’s website; their magazine was the first to publish that picture. It was in Paris so you’ll have to search in late winter/early spring 2006.

Speaking of AMH, any new reviews?
That’s the pic:

Ocean’s did well. It didn’t do great, but it’s mainly because it was a hard sell with being a sequel and 12 was not liked by many fans. I think it will get good worth of mouth though. I have heard nothing but great things about it. The overseas box office should be huge as well. All in all it will be a great success.
…but am charmed by the childhood crushing
piper, with a low, that’s one of the things i most love about them. They look like kids that have fallen in love for the frist time and are having the time of their lives.

Hi Medlaw, yes, it has been a while, sorry I missed you, went into work today. How have you been? Enjoy the movie, I sure did :)
Way to go guys, educate the idiots.

Personally, I thought it did well, on a level that I haven’t seen before. Not the movie, per se, but for the fact that they promoted the movie ‘right’.
I watch O11 on DVD; haven’t seen O12 yet; but I wanted to see this movie despite not being in the know about it. But for me, O13 possessed the components that I like- interesting plot, lack of reliance on CGI/special effects, characters/relationships, glamor/men’s fashion. I am envious of those who are fans of event pics like Star Wars and Lord of the Rings, although some go overboard, i.e. getting dressed up as the characters, although if I saw a dude that was as well dressed as Danny or Rusty, I wouldn’t have been mad at that. ;)
Anyway, it is rare that I get juiced up about seeing a movie and then being satisfied enough to see it multiple times. And I do credit the Cannes and O13 red carpet/news conferences/award ceremonies for really sealing the deal. It felt like Old Hollywood, although Old Hollywood doesn’t offer the accessibility that these guys enjoy. Those were the only times that I could remember when Old and New Hollywood melded together so perfectly. Whether it will happen again… I don’t know, but I was glad to have witnessed it.
Way better than any awards ceremony, including the Oscars.
37 million, pretty good.
