Paris Hilton: I Won’t Appeal

Paris Hilton: I Won’t Appeal

Paris Hilton, who is currently at L.A. County’s Twin Towers Correctional Facility, has been ordered to serve out her original 45-day sentence imposed last month. She recently released this statement:

“Today I told my attorneys not to appeal the judge’s decision. While I greatly appreciate the Sheriff’s concern for my health and welfare, after meeting with doctors I intend to serve my time as ordered by the judge.

This is by far the hardest thing I have ever done. During the past several days, I have had a lot of time to reflect and have already learned a bitter, but important lesson from this experience.

As I have said before, I hope others will learn from my mistake. I have also had time to read the mail from my fans. I very much appreciate all of their good wishes and hope they will keep their letters coming.

I must also say that I was shocked to see all of the attention devoted to the amount of time I would spend in jail for what I had done by the media, public and city officials. I would hope going forward that the public and the media will focus on more important things, like the men and women serving our country in Iraq, Afghanistan and other places around the world.”

In my opinion, Paris Hilton should be treated fairly just like everybody else. Just because America hate her right now doesn’t mean she should be treated more severely than an average non-celebrity person. I read in the news that Paris has to serve the full 45 days sentence in the LA County Jail is ridiculous. A normal person who is facing DUI charges only serve about 10% of their sentence so for Paris to be force serving the entire time of her sentence by the judge is definitely not double standard. The media and the public has so much influence on the case that the severe punishment of Paris Hilton does not reflect her actions. She is consider a low level criminal so for her to be imprison for that long is unfair. But she could still be release early on good behavior. So let’s keep our fingers cross!

If you don’t wish to have so much media attention, why even bother releasing a freaking statement to the public?

It isn’t just Americans that hate her. It’s the whole world. If she didn’t carry on, thinking she is above the law then the sentence would not have changed. She deserves what she gets. I hope she really does grow from this experience.

Me too! I hope she’ll come out of prison a better person and hopefully a better model for young girls everywhere. I think Paris Hilton has a lot of potential and she should put that to good use. Maybe prison will be a good thing for her, make her more humble and appreciate life. We’re all rooting for her to emerge a better person and hopefully the public and the media will accept the new Paris Hilton.

If Paris hopes that people will focus on the more important things in the world like the men and women overseas in war-torn countries why the **** hasnt she even mentioned them before? BECAUSE SHE WAS TOLD TO SAY THAT.
Paris and her many minders, servants, publicists and lawyers have realized she is losing face in a BIG way and have advised her to try and get some public support back.
WHAT THE **** EVER. Like she EVER cared before! This **** makes me so angry. Spoilt brats are exactly that - spoiled. They do anything to get their way and when they realize they are losing, switch tracks quickly and start sucking up. Let the ***** rot.
She did this in Australia - she promised to organise a fundraising concert for Paradise Kids and they were sad and disappointed she never came through - she was in Aussie at the time and wanted to look good and as usual let everyone down for her own spoilt brat ways. If anyone wants to jump in and have a go at me and stand up for the dimwit - go for it - but letting kids down is just f*****d - breaking promises is f*****d - pretending to give a **** about the people who are fighting for freedom is f*****d - trying to get special treatment and thinking you are better than everyone else is f*****d - now Paris has to serve her term in jail like the rest of us - maybe shes starting to realize - SHE IS F****D!

What public image? The girl is in jail. I don’t think anything she does or say now can be credited to her PR. Most people does not wish her well so whatever she commenting on is ridicule or miscontrue even though Paris is trying to be positive in a very very negative situation. Think positive people heheh!

chimpymimp @ 06/10/2007 at 6:01 am

I wish they would keep this brainless rich kid in a cell until she grows a brain….which could mean the other side of her 60th birthday. Can the prison service just lose her? The world would be a better place if she disappeared.

!!!! exclamation-mark happy!!! @ 06/10/2007 at 6:16 am

“I would hope going forward that the public and the media will focus on more important things, like the men and women serving our country in Iraq, Afghanistan and other places around the world.” LOLZ best part of the press release!!!! How convenient of her to think about the troops!

Paris wouldn’t know health and welfare if it hit her in the face. She’s a dumb cow, clearly she did not write this statement.

poor paris @ 06/10/2007 at 6:58 am

You shouldn’t be allowed to issue pr statements from jail. r they bending the rules for her yet again.

I don’t understand why you guys would bash her for suggesting people to concern more on the troops. The point of that paragraph was to leave her alone, focus on something else. So of course when it’s released via her publicist, nice vocabularies lined up. That’s her publicist’s job. This is nothing new. It happens all the time in Hollywood. Just because they are actors or singers doesn’t mean they can write nice public statements. That’s why they have publicists. So muttering such anger toward this statement is beyond ridiculous.

Of course she doesn’t care about the troops. But I’m sure there are hollywood stars out there who couldn’t care less who died in Iraq either. Why are we asking her to carry this burden on her shoulders? If anything, Bush is to blame for the situation in Iraq.

And Yily (No 3) said it right. Just because she shouldn’t receive favors, doesn’t mean she should be treated unfairly either. That girl, Michelle Rodriguez only did 6 hours for the sentence of 60 days. And why didn’t anyone send any claim to the prosecutors.

You’re kidding yourself if you think this is gonna set example for people to not DUI. Yeh it might set example to Hollywood stars. But normal people know they’ll only do 10% of the sentence if found guilty.

Bush knows his troops are going to die in war , did that stop him? Now look who’s counting for the return of their kids. Do people stop smoking because they might get lung cancer ? NO. Bottome line is , if the world is fucked up , it’s fucked up. And it’s not Paris responsibility to fix or set example to the world.

I never like Paris nor do I hate her, because I don’t know her personally. It’s fine for people like Lindsay or Britney to hate her. They are in the same business, they interact, they back-stab each other, etc. So I don’t know why people carried that much personal hatred toward her. It’s Hollywood , there are brats and there are goodies. ALWAYS HAVE, ALWAYS WILL. If you can’t take it, switch off TVs and don’t read gossips.

If you want justice, then call Michelle Rodriguez and millions of citizens who only served 10% of their times back to jail then. That’s justice.

You are joking right?First of all she tried to pimp God by trying to get religious just before she was to go to jail and made sure there were shots of her carrying a Bible all over. There are thousands of shots of Paris over the last couple of years online. When have you EVER seen her carry a Bible?! Secondly, when have you ever heard of an average Citizen try and have court over the phone for a criminal offense? They spend the money just to bring an incarcerated person to appear before the judge! So now she wants to mock the justice system?
And don’t even get me started on her shallow reference to what “should” be more important. Actions speak so much louder than words and Paris’ actions scream that she is more important than the troops and all world affairs that do not concern her. Footlocker gives military discounts but you best believe that the Hilton Hotels do not!
Oh yeah and as far as double standards goes…sell your line to the veteran who suffers PTS who was locked up for assault in a bar and why not a judge in the land would not let him serve his time at home on a bracelet because he had some current mental issues due to serving his country and having to fight for his life and HER freedom.

Some opinions should be kept to yourself.

Wowwww, she has also started drinking Smartwater.

She is found annoying by almost everybody who has known of her from the media. She has to think about this. Otherwise, this won’t be the first and last time for her to be in very deep trouble with law.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
The issue is not about her serving more than 10% of her time for a single DUI. She was caught driving again and again! So you can not compare her to Michelle R. She got over originally for DUI. She was brought back in because of her driving illegally! So when you are let go and then you go back out and disregard what the courts ordered you are required to serve some time. The issue is her supposed mental welfare! What about the abused mother of 4 locked up for snapping and killing the man that tried to kill her. Those women are kept locked up mental breakdowns or not. Justifiable defenses or not so why should some heiress get out of serving just 23 days? Paris thought she was above the law!

^ Well said.

More people need to think like you, instead of the pea size brain dead idiots that half of these comments reflect.

She learned a bitter but important lesson?!?!? Like what- always pick the jail cell that has the most electrical outlets for her hairdryers, Blackberry chargers and iPods and make sure your mugshot photo gets air brushed and re-touched before going to the press? Good grief!

To Yily: she’s not facing DUI charges, she’s facing charges after she drove while her license was suspended, which is worse…
I take back what I said yesterday, or only part of it, I’m not sure yet, but it seems like she’s learning from her mistake… or maybe her PR person is just good.

Wow, who would have thunk that Paris would be able to write something like that. Oh wait, that was her PR people. I guess doing your time may help you save face.

yeah yeah yeah @ 06/10/2007 at 7:38 am

I actually felt sorry for her when I saw her crying on tv and heard that she cried out “Mom!” I know how wild she had been until now, but despite all of things she had done, I don’t think she’s a bad person. She was just young and stupid. I’m actually surprised she wrote the statement above by herself. Paris seems to be changing. The statement is quite mature and yet sincere. Who knows? She might become the next Angelina Jolie! I wish her the best.

Paris didn’t say or write anything. Her lawyers have done it. Don’t be so dense!!! And Paris isn’t going to “change” by spending five weeks in jail. PLZ! From the moment this possibility was handed down, her entire family, most particularly Paris and her mother, have been out in public crying and complaining and criticizing the court. Using “connections” to try to get the governor’s attention, etc. The judge had no choice but to do what he did. And plz don’t forget, she showed up late for her court appointment. Judges don’t like it when you disrespect the court.Paris has never been “treated like anyone else.” She has gotten away with more stuff because she is Paris Hilton, than you or I ever would!!! And the reason there is no appeal is bcz there is no grounds for an appeal on a misdemeanor traffic violation. Oh. And Kathy Hilton really helped things by calling the judge at his house and telling him off.

poor paris @ 06/10/2007 at 7:42 am

If she wants the media to focus more on the troops&imp things then she should instruct her people to STOP issuing statements from her everyday. She should serve her time quietly. She complains, but she’s the one who created this media monster around her and she’s still doing it from jail. She wants it & craves it. The crying pic of her is so staged. Most people would cover their head and not pose thru a window bawling their eyes out for the paps. She is media hungry-had makeup people come before court? I dn’t believe a word she says anymore that she’s learned a lesson. She said this on Sunday at the MTV awards & yet she did everything she cud to get out of her situation. She’s disgusting frankly.
