OlderParis Hilton: “God Has Released Me”
Paris Hilton called Barbara Walters from jail yesterday afternoon (prisoners must call collect), making bold statements like “God has released me” and “I’m not that superficial girl.”
On how she’s doing: “I’m hanging in there. I feel as if I’m a different person. I’ve dropped my appeal. I don’t want to cause any more problems.”
On not wailing, sobbing or screaming as had been described: “But I was not eating or sleeping. I was severely depressed and felt as if I was in a cage. I was not myself. It was a horrible experience.”
On how prison has changed her: “I’m not the same person I was. I used to act dumb. It was an act. I am 26 years old, and that act is no longer cute. It is not who I am, nor do I want to be that person for the young girls who looked up to me. I know now that I can make a difference, that I have the power to do that. I have been thinking that I want to do different things when I am out of here. I have become much more spiritual. God has given me this new chance.”
On her spiritual well-being: “My spirit or soul did not like the way I was being seen and that is why I was sent to jail. God has released me.”
On not being allowed makeup or lotion: “It doesn’t matter. I’m not that superficial girl. I haven’t looked in the mirror since I got here.”
On the possibility of being let out early: “I feel that the purpose of my life is to be where I am. However, usually with a situation like mine, the person serves 10 percent of their time. I have already served 30 percent of my time. I hope if there is overcrowding in the jail, I would be let out before someone with a much more serious crime.”
On learning her lesson: “I will never again have a drink and drive.”

Is there really nothing that will kill this virus? Can’t we all please just GET OVER her so she will fade away…
Also: as if drinking and driving is the only thing this girl has done that has made most everyone hate the very sight or mention of her…and associate her with every kind of excess and sexually transmitted disease you can name…Those jokes don’t come from public perception of you being seen as person who drinks and drives and thinks they are above the law, Paris. You’re really not getting th big picture here if you think THAT’s what people can’t stand about you.
STOP posing that stupid little “Paris” pose for every camera that you see! The best picture ever taken of you was the one of you crying in the back of that police car. Grow some humility…some human decency…some morality…some world awareness (NO…not awareness of world’s awareness of YOU!)…but of the world around you…IT DOESN’T REVOLVE AROUND YOU and your little priviledged life.
She’s been in the slammer for how long? And she’s a changed woman already. We will see. And ofcourse she hasnt looked in a mirror, she doesnt even have one too look in. ;)

She dropped her appeal because she knew she didnt have a chance. A judge put her in her place, and that confused and worried the sh!t out of her.
You notice how she claims she will never drink and drive? Uh huh. Nothing was said about not ever dancing on another table drunk off her ass though.

Also: using God to pimp yourself to the media…Oh please, *****. If you ACTUALLY believed in GOD…this is the last thing you’d do. I think it’s safe to say that God is not lmoved by what you say to Barbara Walters…or what she repeats to people who watch the view. I’m pretty sure that a true change in you and a real belief in God would be something between you and Him. Not something you’d use to rehab your hopelessly, utterly befouled image. I am not sure God responds well to prayers from those who ask him to help them emerge from hollywood scandals and terrible reputations “smelling like a rose.”

there was a funny column this past weekend by one of rupert murdoch’s ******* — andrea peyser, calling out hilton. what is so funny is that were it not for rupert murdoch, richard johnson and page six, that little ***** would have been on her third divorce and disappearing to the hamptons for the summer. murdoch and his ******* gave hilton the tabloid covers and endless mentions that established her notoriety when she was a 16yo dancing on tabletops and flashing her cooch.
oh yeah, 3 american soldiers were crushed to death when a bomb was detonated at the bridge they were guarding in baghdad. perhaps babawawa could spare a minute for them.

She is not for real. The only thing she said that might be true is that she won’t ever drink and drive again. She’ll hire a driver!
I wonder if Paris and her family have finally seen just how much people dislike her. Her lawyers or PR people have to know! Wonder if anyone spoke to her about her “image problem.” I predict she’ll try to be low key for a few days. Maybe even a week or two. Then the old Paris will be back. People don’t “change” in a few days.When with all her $$$ and influence she couldn’t get her own way, she cried and hollered for mom. And that was in public, in the courtroom. And there were pictures of her crying in the police car, no matter what she says now to Barbara Walters. If she really wants to appear different and develop a new image, she should start by not lying. When so many people know the truth, her lying makes her look even more stupid.
It will be interesting to see if she can rehabilitate her image. It would probably go down as a classic case study in a Public Relations or Marketing course.

I guess Paris had no choice but to call her when Oprah hung up the phone.
A week is quite early to have made any real changes in a persons life, but at the same time it would be nice if Hilton actually tries to apply her words (or her reps words, take your pick) to her life and not just feed the public another bag of bullshit hoping that someone might actually buy into it.
Its possible she did say the above. Her spirit -or- soul? She clearly doesnt know what she is going on about. She should buy a book, or perhaps a bible.
Foolish little girl. God blessed her beyond the day she was born and she has been taking total advantage of everything ever since.
I hate to say this but surviving adversity can make a person a lot better. It seems in a way she NEEDED something like this to happen to change her life for the better. I am glad she found her heart. Something like this happened to me too (not jail though). I wish her the best.
In some way that was the problem with her life, she had no mounatin to climb, no difficulties to overcome, it was only when she was accidentally faced with reality of life did she change. She reminds me a little of Buddha, who changed to a spiritual path, after having being raised in the the life of a king, so he could find the truth of human existance amongst the suffering of the world.

i think this girl hit the nose on the head—-whatever image she has been cultivating for these years has become tiresome, even to her.
(I look at Pam Anderson–whom I happen to like as a woman, and wonder if her ‘look’ is as boring to her as it is for a lot of us. It must be so confining: to establish a persona in the media and then to completely evolve out of it but be stuck because you can’t sell yourself any other way: see also, Sharon Stone, Dolly Parton, Melanie Griffith, Janice Dickinson………….
Paris is 26 (a bonafide adult) and has become a media ‘darling’ thru accident and also CAREFUL CALCULATION. To exceed your 15 minutes of fame,ya gotta have half a brain.

I think you have hit several good points in your post. You are right–she is 26 and getting a bit old for the club scene and Hollywood as the new crop of wannabees starts pushing and jockeying for position. If she wants to remain in the limelight, she is going to have to do something to reinvent herself. Several folks that know her have said that she is “smart.” Maybe she is and the last six years or so have been an act. She certainly must have some sort of brain to have extended her 15 minutes of fame into years. Maybe she has found in jail that her previous life covered a great emptiness in her and now she wants something more.
Whatever her choices–to return to her old life or create a new life–she is going to have probably one of the toughest roads of her life to travel.
