Angelina Jolie Wears $26 Dress!!!!!!
Actress Angelina Jolie and actor/producer Brad Pitt attend the New York City premiere of A Mighty Heart at the Ziegfeld Theatre on Wednesday.
Angelina rocked a $26 crushed velvet dress that she picked it up from the vintage store Wasteland on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles. Angie finished off her look with a pair of Christian Louboutin peep-toe pumps with crystal heels. Brad wore a snazzy three-piece J.Lindeberg suit.

#217 African Girl The reason the us weekly thing annoyed me is because i work at a woman’s centre that deals with self harm,depression and all things that young women go through so when i see so called journalists attacking her because of the life she had before it sends a wrong message to women who have that kind of life now and when i read posts saying oh she’s a cutter and how fucked up she was is why self harm and related issues are still a taboo subject today. The young women i work with look up to angelina and see how she changed her life around and see that it can be done so it really pisses me of that they make it seem that she should be ashamed of her past maybe if these people try to understand these issues then hopefully there will be less ignorance and i think angelina is an amazing woman,inspiring and excellent role model to young women.
She looks just stunning. Her hair, the dress, her accessories…all just perfect for the movie and her. Anyone know who made this dress? I love the detail when you see it closer up. Hopefully we will see closer up without the image owner soon.

so was my daughter Ashby - knowing about Angie also helped her. I absolutely HATE when people criticize her for that. I work in a high school, and that behavior and others that Suzi was describing are very prevalent there. Academy alters statuette rules for 80th Oscars
Brad Grey, current chairman of Paramount Pictures, missed out on a producing Oscar at this year’s Academy Awards under the old statuette restrictions.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has ruled that a best-picture Oscar winner can have more than three producers in “rare and extraordinary” circumstances, it announced Wednesday.
The change was the most significant of what President Sid Ganis characterized as “a small number of refinements” in the rules approved Tuesday for the 80th Academy Awards.
The Academy imposed a rule in 2000 that limited each nominated film to three credited producers who could claim statuettes.
That limit led to bickering and lawsuits from people who felt they were denied credit — and Oscars.
Bob Yari sued the Academy and the Producers Guild claiming he was wrongly denied a producer credit for Crash, which won best picture in 2006. Brad Grey, now chairman of Paramount Pictures, missed out on his producing Oscar for this year’s best picture, The Departed.

Other approved changes include the definition of an animated feature film, which must be at least 70 minutes long and use a frame-by-frame technique to create characters’ movements, and that two production designers or set decorators could be nominated for their art-direction work on a given film.

They look bloody gorgeous, but to those who brought it up. Personally I quite like that his skin is not 100% perfect all the time, it gives him an edge, takes away the from the pretty and makes him more manly (for want of a better word). Some Hollywood guys look too ‘plastic’ to me .

You are a hater, and Angie is flawless so you have to pick on Brad.
The only thing diff with Brad on these red carpets is that he’s not rockin’ the goatee as he usually does, he’s clean shaven — he hasn’t been clean shaven out and about in a month of Sundays…that’s the only reason he looks diff…I myself prefer a bit of fuzz - but maybe he likes snuggling with his babies (and his big baby especially) and doesn’t want scratch ‘em up.
You are too hateful picking on this kind of perfection. If you lay into Brad because of whatever you say is going on with his skin, I bet Maniston and her pores the size of potholes must keep you busy 24/7.

That was old life hon’. You know the days he sat around with the dried up old sit com hack, smoked weed and watched Friends reruns from 1996 on USA cable, because Maniston made him. He smoked weed to dull the pain of his miserable existence with ‘The MAN-iston.’

Remember at the LA Ocean’s Premiere when Brad was asked who is looking after the kids and he said “we have a couple of friends lined up” - I had a feeling it was family and I’m guessing it was his Mom and sis (and Unca Jamie!)
I really laugh when the haters go on about their ‘4 nannies’ (as if! I’ve only ever seen one), when it’s so obvious that as much as possible their family members love being with them wherever they are and spending time/looking after the kids. This family is tight!

One thing I have learn about Brad, he says a lot with very few words.
Angelina’s arms look wonderful. I wonder how she is getting rid of the veins. Maybe she has put on a few pounds. Her hair also is fabulous…Beautiful Angelina…just don’t let these designers put you in dresses that do nothing for you. You are way better than this dress. (then again I can’t see it very clearly) Brad is fabulous as always.
Ok this is exactly what I thought they would look like. Very low key and simple. The tie that Brad has on screams Tom Ford. His hsair looked like it got wet. it was raining when these were taken. Angelina does what all us gals do to our hair in this kind of weather. She just put it up. No biggie. simple elegant.
Brad ’s squinting as usual. Heobviously has light sensitvity but all you would hear is the bitching when he wears sunglasses to sheild his eyes. All those photographers lights are 100 times brighter than looking directly at the sun. I say to Brad, take care of you and shield your eyes if you must to protect your eyesight. His skin has always been bad that’s why when I read that he gets botox (from the haters) I laugh. His right side is his worse (just like Robert Redford). It’s always been messed up. Nothing new. Angelina looks glowing as usual and very content.
We don’t care that Brad looks old to some and that Angelina looks too skinny to some. They obviously love each other. That’s what counts. Why can’t people get that? Angelina said she loves to see age on a person. Brad has always been with super skinny women. What matters is that this couple is fabulous and lead an interesting life which is more that most of Hollywood and their UNCONDITIONAL love they have for each other and their children.

Lady G - yup - I am getting a Degree in Deciphering Brad Pitt :-) He is very protective of ALL the women in his life and everyone he loves. I really dig that about him.
I guess age is a relative thing - I’m around Angie’s age and I don’t think she looks old at all, but a 20 year old might think differently. As for Brad - he’s totally light sensitive - very common in people with light blue eyes. And I love that he’s past his 20 yr. old pretty boy phase and into his more manly phase.
Considering that this is a serious film about a serious topic it’s completely unrealistic to think they’re going to show up looking like a bunch of club kids. Add to that the fact that they are now moving and shaking with the A-List and ex-Presidents, on top of being parents of 4, and it is completely unrealistic to expect them to go for a younger look if they want to be taken seriously. That being said, they’re still pretty young and hip parents - they’d fit in great here in Vancouver. Wish they’d make a film up here!

She’s probably wearing Shiseido make-up. That lipgloss is almost the same as the one she wore for the ad and they did say that she was the face of their new liquid and powder eyeshadow.
I love her look. She is not so fussy. She could afford a $2600 dress and got it for free but paid $26 for one. As for Brad, he looks like a man. No more pretty boy and that suits me and apparently Angie just fine. I love that Jamie is around and of course Ms. Pitt would be there. Its been years since they’ve had little ones in their family so I imagine she is simply over the moon with four.
Off topic: Its cold in NYC. OMFG. We had a bad weather storm in south Florida and there was hail. Hail. Little ice ball size things. They were like the size of little pebbles but still. I havent seen that since I left up north. I am totally confused right now…

Brad looks very nice here. Skimming this LONG thread I would guess there has been some discussion about Brad’s skin, Angie’s look. Brad has always had acne but since he was never so much known for flawless skin as much as his looks (bone structure, eyes, hair) what’s the issue now? Me, I’m sill young, yet I don’t find the flawless pretty man look all that hot. Granted I give exception to Johnny Depp and maybe Orlando Bloom in his pirate get up but a little age is sexy. It makes a man look distinguished, rugged even. Angie: She needs to let go of the black, the peep toe, do a curly hair do, and please put on a little weight! I know she has been grieving. Still hopefully she will pick up soon.

Ok first off I want to say that I absolutely love Brad & Angie and have been following their careers for 10+ years now. As much as I’ve been a fan I have never taken the time to write to any fan clubs or to the stars themselves, but tonight I made an exception. You see, I made the small trek to Zeigfeld theatre hoping to catch the power house couple as they made their way to AMH premiere. Unfortunately, I was running late and got there to find I was the ONLY fan hanging around front. Sure there were a few small time reporters and PR personnel all seemingly “wrapping things up”. Apparently Brad & Angie’s red carpet arrival had happened HOURS prior. Bah humbug! Obviously disappointed and ready to head home I started to walked through parking garage beside Zeigfeld only to be confronted with a MOB of paparazzi all running towards the same spot I had just been in ( think of running of the bulls). I quickly turn on my heels to see none other than Angie making her way out the theater, followed by Brad. I was star struck!! Fumbling for my cheap disposable camera I manage to fire off one measly shot of Ms. Jolie as she headed straight for her SUV. In person she is absolutely stunning (much thinner than in pictures though) and Brad, as gorgeous as he is …I couldn’t help but notice the make-up! Foundation!?! Oh well… who can blame him, I wouldn’t look like a spring chicken running after 4 kids all under the age of 6. Anyway, as I wiped the drool off my chin and saw them ride into the distance I knew there was no way I could not share this.
Btw, if anyone else happens to encounter them in NYC do share!

I think it is hilarious that she is wearing a $26.00 dress and looking simply ravishing. She is so practical. She buys clothes, shoes, etc that are classic and will endure the test of time. She doesn’t seem to be a fad dresser. She would probably rather use her money for more meaningful purposes, her humanitarian projects, than trying to keep up with all of the silly style changes and fads. They look truly beautiful. and if this would have happened (x playing marianne pearl) then the movie would not have received excellent reviews as it is receiving now. x is only good for comedy roles; i couldn’t even think how she can carry out the dramatic scenes, let alone the much-talked about primal scream. come to think of it, perhaps marianne wouldn’t have agreed for plan b to make this film if x would have portrayed her.

Kidnapped journalist’s murder leads to Jolie film

“I write this book for you, Danny, because you had the courage of this most solitary act: to die with your hands in chains but your heart undefeated.
“I write this book to do justice to you, and to tell the truth.”
So writes Mariane Pearl in the opening of her memoir, A Mighty Heart: The Inside Story of the Al Qaeda Kidnapping of Danny Pearl.
Mariane Pearl’s story about the early 2002 kidnapping and murder of her husband, Daniel Pearl, the South Asia Bureau chief of the Wall Street Journal, and the efforts by Pakistani and American counter-terrorism forces to find him and his abductors, has been told in a forceful and eloquent new movie, A Mighty Heart, opening nationwide on Friday. Britain’s Michael Winterbottom directs an American, Pakistani and Indian cast, starring Angelina Jolie and Dan Futterman as Mariane and Daniel Pearl.
“I remember reading Mariane’s book and being very moved by it and very impressed by it,” says Winterbottom in a recent interview here. Her book was “a reminder of what it was like to be Mariane in that situation - waiting for news, trying to do whatever she could to help Danny’s safety.”
But the book also offers “glimpses of the world outside, the world of Pakistan,” Winterbottom continues. “I think Pakistan is like the most acute version of the post-9/11 world. It’s where all the forces come together in the most immediate way, and in the most confusing way.”
It was his knowledge of Pakistan, having made two films there - 2002’s In This World and 2006’s The Road to Guantanamo - that Winterbottom believes convinced producers Dede Gardner and Brad Pitt of Plan B Entertainment to ask him to direct A Mighty Heart.
In April 2006, Winterbottom went to Namibia, where Pitt and Jolie were staying at the time, to discuss the project.
Even so, having just finished Road to Guantanamo, a docudrama about three young British Muslim men who were arrested in Afghanistan and then held in the American prison in Guantanamo, Cuba, for two years before they were released, still uncharged, Winterbottom was a bit reluctant.
“Normally, I like to do a different sort of film next,” says the director, who has interspersed his more political films, including 1997’s Welcome to Sarajevo, with lighter fare such as 24 Hour Party People and Tristram Shandy: A **** and Bull Story.
But it turned out to be too good an opportunity to pass up.
“The first time I met Angelina was with Mariane,” Winterbottom recalls. “Seeing them together, it seemed like perfect casting. They were very similar - they were both very glamorous, very beautiful, both strong, both intelligent. They both talked about the world in a similar way.”
Pitt and Jolie also “liked the idea of doing it very simply,” Winterbottom says, and that fit in precisely with his usual approach to filmmaking.
“I like hand-held cameras, no lights, radio mikes so that people can improvise,” the director explains, which allows him, his cinematographer Marcel Zyskind, and their crew and actors to move quickly and relatively unobtrusively in real locations.
“There’s no shouting `action’ or shouting `cut,’” he says, “so it looks a bit like either people messing around on their holidays or like a little TV crew.”
Winterbottom started the film in Pakistan, shooting in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Karachi, the city in which the Pearls were staying with a friend - fellow Wall Street Journal reporter Asra Nomani (played by Archie Panjabi) - when Daniel Pearl was kidnapped.
And many of Futterman’s scenes were shot in actual places - restaurants, hotels, etc. - where the story takes place. In addition, Winterbottom, who believes strongly in “actors working in real environments,” estimates that about 80 or 90 percent of his movie’s exterior shots were filmed in Pakistan.
The house which served as the Pearls’ in the film, however, was in Pune, India, a city with many Pakistani residents.
“We decided it was just too difficult to shoot Angelina in Karachi,” the director explains. It would have been easier to film the entire movie in Pakistan, except for a few scenes set in France, where Mariane Pearl is from, he says, but “the Pakistan government felt that wasn’t a good idea.”
The Pearl case, Winterbottom adds, “was a high-profile story in Karachi, and Angelina and Brad are obviously high-profile anywhere, so the combination seemed like pushing it.”
Besides, he says, “since we were filming for five weeks just inside one house, it kind of felt like it wouldn’t be justified.”
The house itself is very important in the film. Although A Mighty Heart depicts the events leading to Daniel Pearl’s abduction, when he was supposed to meet a source with information about shoe bomber Richard Reid, the movie is centered in the Pearl household. Noting that the real Mariane Pearl had remained very strong throughout the ordeal and “had built a kind of team spirit from all these different people who perhaps in other circumstances would have been an odd mix,” Winterbottom says, “we worked really hard to create the same spirit on our set that Mariane had created in her house.”
The director credits his star for helping to foster such an environment. Jolie was “fantastic to work with,” he says. “One thing about her knowing Mariane is that she wanted to represent Mariane on the set.”
Winterbottom says he was not concerned that Jolie’s international celebrity might overwhelm this story.
“Why would you not want someone who knew the person very well and, to my eyes, was very similar?” he asks rhetorically.
Just as Jolie came to know the real Mariane Pearl, Winterbottom insisted that his other actors meet their real-life counterparts - or in Futterman’s case, the parents and siblings of Daniel Pearl.
“The reason for doing it,” Winterbottom says, “was I wanted the real characters to tell the actors what was going on in their heads and what they remembered. I thought it would make the actors feel confident, that they would feel like they were representing these people in the film.”
So just as Mariane Pearl wanted to write a book that told the truth about her husband, in “A Mighty Heart,” Michael Winterbottom has tried to make a movie that is honest and accurate, one which does justice to the strength and courage of Daniel and Mariane.
“I hope the picture just reflects what it was like,” Winterbottom says.

You know, your post raises some interesting questions. Is it better to have loved and lost then never to have loved at all??
Me, i’ve been in both situations. When I was in my late teens, early 20s, I’ve been afraid to love. I dated men who loved me more than I loved them. That way, I figured, I would never get hurt. I left them.
Then, one day, I threw this caution to the winds and fell in love, big time. And what happened? LOL. You guessed it, he left me. I think the first few months, I cried myself to sleep, I cried at work. Looking back now, I wonder how I kept my job. It took me 18 months to recover and another year before I could engage in another serious relationship.
It takes courage to love. I found that I could recover, could survive someone breaking my heart. And you know what, it left me so much less fearful, so much more secure in myself and my ability to thrive. I grew up from the scared little girl who thought she needed someone to love and nurture her to, I hope, a woman, who realised that she could also give her love to nurture another person.
So, beyond a shadow of a doubt, I would choose being able to love, deeply, even it losing that love would hurt like hell, then loving in some cool to lukewarm fashion. Uh Uh, that’s not for me.
By the way, I’m not recommending masochism here. Sometimes, of course, we give our love to someone who doesn’t deserve it. Our mistake. Our love is a precious thing and we want to give it to someone who is in our own eyes, deserving of that love. Sometimes we give our love to someone who rejects it. Not because he is mean or undeserving, but because he doesn’t want to accept it. that’s OK. It doesnt mean the person who rejects your love is bad. It just means its a Case of wrong time wrong place or just plain, wrong person.
But so what? In neither case does it devalue me or my gift. There are others I can give my love to who both deserve it, and who will receive it gladly, joyfully. I would MEET them. I will keep faith with myself to live and learn and be joyful.
From Angelina’ actions, she is a woman of great courage. She is not afraid to challenge herself, whether in acting, setting up a millenium village in Cambodia or adopting children, or flying a light plane. So, I agree with you that Angelina is absolutely in love with Brad. I don’t know her, but I would guess, she wouldn’t have it any other way, regardless of how her relationship with Brad might actually turn out.
Beyond gorgeous. $26.00 dress? She could do justice to a $6.00 dress, or the proverbial flour sack.
High Def does not do Hollywood good. You think the skin and veins look bad on pics and reg tv, you should see it in HD. I think I just threw up a little in my mouth.

Yes Brad does really resemble RobertR in that pic. It would be interesting if they made another film together playing father and son. He is squinting a lot lately, but he did have lasik which may have left his light colored eyes even more sensitive. I don’t see much makeup on Brad, but I did notice that his skin had a bad reaction to the BB makeup which may still be bothering him. He has not had any botox because he has lines and can move his face. That said he is one “mighty fine looking 43 year old man who looks to be no older than his 30’s”. Would that we all can age as well as he is.

Angie tells Access that the crushed velvet dress she was sporting was from the vintage store Wasteland on Melrose Avenue in LA.

Kidnapped journalist’s murder leads to Jolie film

“I write this book for you, Danny, because you had the courage of this most solitary act: to die with your hands in chains but your heart undefeated.
“I write this book to do justice to you, and to tell the truth.”
So writes Mariane Pearl in the opening of her memoir, A Mighty Heart: The Inside Story of the Al Qaeda Kidnapping of Danny Pearl.
Mariane Pearl’s story about the early 2002 kidnapping and murder of her husband, Daniel Pearl, the South Asia Bureau chief of the Wall Street Journal, and the efforts by Pakistani and American counter-terrorism forces to find him and his abductors, has been told in a forceful and eloquent new movie, A Mighty Heart, opening nationwide on Friday. Britain’s Michael Winterbottom directs an American, Pakistani and Indian cast, starring Angelina Jolie and Dan Futterman as Mariane and Daniel Pearl.
“I remember reading Mariane’s book and being very moved by it and very impressed by it,” says Winterbottom in a recent interview here. Her book was “a reminder of what it was like to be Mariane in that situation - waiting for news, trying to do whatever she could to help Danny’s safety.”
But the book also offers “glimpses of the world outside, the world of Pakistan,” Winterbottom continues. “I think Pakistan is like the most acute version of the post-9/11 world. It’s where all the forces come together in the most immediate way, and in the most confusing way.”
It was his knowledge of Pakistan, having made two films there - 2002’s In This World and 2006’s The Road to Guantanamo - that Winterbottom believes convinced producers Dede Gardner and Brad Pitt of Plan B Entertainment to ask him to direct A Mighty Heart.
In April 2006, Winterbottom went to Namibia, where Pitt and Jolie were staying at the time, to discuss the project.
Even so, having just finished Road to Guantanamo, a docudrama about three young British Muslim men who were arrested in Afghanistan and then held in the American prison in Guantanamo, Cuba, for two years before they were released, still uncharged, Winterbottom was a bit reluctant.
“Normally, I like to do a different sort of film next,” says the director, who has interspersed his more political films, including 1997’s Welcome to Sarajevo, with lighter fare such as 24 Hour Party People and Tristram Shandy: A **** and Bull Story.
But it turned out to be too good an opportunity to pass up.
“The first time I met Angelina was with Mariane,” Winterbottom recalls. “Seeing them together, it seemed like perfect casting. They were very similar - they were both very glamorous, very beautiful, both strong, both intelligent. They both talked about the world in a similar way.”
Pitt and Jolie also “liked the idea of doing it very simply,” Winterbottom says, and that fit in precisely with his usual approach to filmmaking.
“I like hand-held cameras, no lights, radio mikes so that people can improvise,” the director explains, which allows him, his cinematographer Marcel Zyskind, and their crew and actors to move quickly and relatively unobtrusively in real locations.
“There’s no shouting `action’ or shouting `cut,’” he says, “so it looks a bit like either people messing around on their holidays or like a little TV crew.”
Winterbottom started the film in Pakistan, shooting in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Karachi, the city in which the Pearls were staying with a friend - fellow Wall Street Journal reporter Asra Nomani (played by Archie Panjabi) - when Daniel Pearl was kidnapped.
And many of Futterman’s scenes were shot in actual places - restaurants, hotels, etc. - where the story takes place. In addition, Winterbottom, who believes strongly in “actors working in real environments,” estimates that about 80 or 90 percent of his movie’s exterior shots were filmed in Pakistan.
The house which served as the Pearls’ in the film, however, was in Pune, India, a city with many Pakistani residents.
“We decided it was just too difficult to shoot Angelina in Karachi,” the director explains. It would have been easier to film the entire movie in Pakistan, except for a few scenes set in France, where Mariane Pearl is from, he says, but “the Pakistan government felt that wasn’t a good idea.”
The Pearl case, Winterbottom adds, “was a high-profile story in Karachi, and Angelina and Brad are obviously high-profile anywhere, so the combination seemed like pushing it.”
Besides, he says, “since we were filming for five weeks just inside one house, it kind of felt like it wouldn’t be justified.”
