Angelina Jolie: Pimp My Picture, Not My Life!
Angelina Jolie tried to keep things focused during Wednesday night’s NY premiere of A Mighty Heart. Media outlets were required to sign contracts before talking to Jolie (as drawn up by her Hollywood lawyer Robert Offer).
Here were the contract terms for interviewing:
- No questions regarding her personal relationships
- In the event Interviewer does ask Ms. Jolie any questions regarding her personal relationships, Ms. Jolie will have the right to immediately terminate the interview and leave
- The interview may only be used to promote the Picture. In no event may Interviewer or Media Outlet be entitled to run all or any portion of the interview in connection with any other story
- The interview will not be used in a manner that is disparaging, demeaning, or derogatory to Ms. Jolie
- The tape of the interview will not be released to Interviewer if any of the aforementioned things happened
One reporter from a major outlet said, “I wouldn’t sign it. Who does she think she is?”
FOX News reports that USA Today, the Associated Press and other media outlets canceled their interviews with Jolie. When she heard the reaction, Jolie scrapped all print interviews.

this is strange behavior, as just in all last 4-5 interviews she talked almost only about her private life with brad and kids and her private past and future plans (and all the details) and now its like this all, we know now allready from her is secret again?
it will be hard to focus people on the film, when she talked private since the start of the promotions of it
yes, somewhere it was mentioned, that even her regisseur acknowledges, that the audience is no more able to focus on a role she is playing, and that people see just angelina the private person with brad pitt as friend and their children
may be this is why she and her publicity people tries to do some damage control, as it is not good for her as actress, when people forget even in cinema, that she is an actress and actually tries to play another person
just when you talked freely last few weeks about almost everything you do at home, its hard to understand for the journalists now, that this same thematic is now forbidden
…the media just wish they had more power over her, in every way possible.

usmagazine.com has learned that Angelina Jolie has reversed her position on restricting reporters’ questions at tomorrow’s press junket for her movie, A Mighty Heart. Paul Colford, Director of Media Relations for the Associated Press tells Us: “APTN was asked to sign a document pertaining to an interview with her scheduled for tomorrow (Friday) but declined to sign because it is not AP policy to do so. Jolie has agreed to the one-on-one interview without the signed document.”
The news comes after Fox’s Roger Friedman reported that Jolie had her lawyer “require all journalists to sign a contract before talking to her.” Calling her “a mighty hypocrite,” Fox pointed out that Jolie’s film A Mighty Heart champions freedom of press, and the Wednesday premiere of the film supported an organization called Reporters Without Borders.

Carefree girl
“I blame all of you for that because I was excited,” Angelina Jolie told our press group with a laugh when a colleague of ours reminded her about the carefree girl she once was, who jumped into the pool after she won a Golden Globe Best Supporting Actress for “Girl, Interrupted” in 1999.
“I think I’m really the same person,” maintained the actress who was 23 at the time. Having just turned 32 in this recent press con at the Beverly Wilshire, she was given a bouquet of flowers.
Angelina is not quite that same girl who plunged into the Beverly Hilton’s pool in a beaded gown. Since then, Angelina has become a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and, with a passion to aid countries devastated by conflicts and diseases, adopted kids from around the world-Maddox (nicknamed Madd), 5, Zahara (Zee), 2, and her latest, Pax, 3. She has a biological daughter, Shiloh, 1, with her partner, Brad Pitt.
What has remained unchanged is that Angelina continues to be an excellent actress. The actress’ portrayal of Mariane Pearl, widow of slain journalist Daniel “Danny” Pearl, in “A Mighty Heart,” was praised by critics when the film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival last month.
At the Cannes press con for the movie which we attended, Angelina was a forthright interviewee as usual. But in this recent one, when it was more relaxed and we had her for slightly over an hour, she talked more openly for the first time. She did not shirk when asked about: the recent passing of her mother, Marcheline Bertrand; how Pax is doing; the rift with her father, actor John Voight; and how Brad was as her producer in “A Mighty Heart” and as her partner.
There was a catch in her voice as she mentioned Marcheline. She spoke about John in a hopeful tone. She squarely answered a question about her too-thin frame these days. For the fashionista readers, a female colleague supplied us this info: Angelina wore a vintage Moschino embroidered empire-waisted black cocktail dress and black Sergio Rossi high heels and toted a Botkier bag.
How is Brad as producer and as a partner?
I’m a very lucky woman. I have a beautiful family and Brad is a very supportive friend, man and a great father … and very romantic in his own way. But with this film, I was very nervous because I got to know Mariane and respected her so much. And then having somebody who is your partner as the producer can, in some ways, sound like a good idea but it can also make the pressure higher. I lost sleep over it. But he was very helpful.
Do you and Brad have different ideas about parenting?
We’re very similar. We back each other as parents. There is no divide like daddy’s okay with this but mommy’s not. We never want the kids to see us divided in the way we discipline. He’s just as affectionate and loving as I am. I am just as playful. They ride motorcycles and do boy things more than I do. They get dirty in the mud. But we try to make sure they know that they don’t divide mommy and daddy, that we agree, we’re together, we love each other and from there we have a family.
How does Brad help you in difficult times?
It’s funny to give all his secrets away. He’s really a great friend… If he’s sitting with me and asking how I feel, I feel like he really wants to know. He really cares. We talk very deeply about everything. When my mom passed away, he sat with me … and helped me through all the stages of handling it-what to deal with, her ashes, everything. He was just wonderful to my brother. I wasn’t thinking clearly. He spent the night asking us questions about our mom. He got us to tell funny stories about her, got us focused on all the love and the joy we were fortunate enough to have. He’s extraordinary.
How is Pax adjusting to his new family?
He’s a great kid. At first, we thought he was shy and quiet. Two days later at home, we discovered that he is the loudest member of the family. He is very athletic, very bold. We don’t know if it’s because he suddenly had (many forms of) freedom that he never had before. We still have a Vietnamese person around on occasion so he [won’t forget] his language. A Cambodian woman is coming to visit Madd. Pax and Zee have connected because they’re closer in age. Madd and Pax are brothers; there are times when they absolutely bond against everybody else in the family. They’re a tough team. Then they have moments when they bug each other-quite normal.
I’m really proud of Pax. You see certain things from somebody who has been institutionalized … habits. It’s quite obvious that he was used to a stronger discipline. It’s hard to change that-to be as strong [but] to just push him with love, by talking to him.
How are Brad’s parents with the kids? Do you sometimes leave the kids with them?
Brad’s parents are very kind to me, very warm. They’re great grandparents. It’s very important to me that the kids have that. I don’t know if I’d leave these four with anybody right now (laughter). They’re a wild bunch. When I first met [Brad’s parents], I was coming in with two adopted children from other countries. That was new for them. But they’re equally loving. We’ve left the kids with them quite a few times.
How is your relationship with your father?
I hope that, in the future, it will be more private. Unfortunately, our difficulties became very public-it was not started by me. At the end of the day, we both wish the best for each other. We will try to start communicating in some way. We have communicated through letters. We’ll see how far we can go where it’s healthy for both of us. I am sure we keep an eye on each other.
You are so thin.
Is there a lot of pressure on actresses to be thin?
The funny thing is, when somebody says, you’re thin, a person says, thank you. To me actually, when somebody says I’m thin, it is not a compliment. It’s not something I want to be. I have always been lean.
This year, I lost my mom. I’ve gone through a lot. I have four kids. I just finished breast-feeding. It’s been hard to get my nutrition back on track and learn about my body after birth. I am doing the best I can. The thing that’s disturbing is that instead of somebody saying, oh, this looks like somebody who is dealing with something from emotions-it’s, do they want to fit into skinny jeans? I don’t encourage young girls to be too thin. I do want people to understand that I am just trying to work through a very difficult year.

Thank you JJ. Just a few clarifications. Actually it was Brad’s lawyer and hers since Brad is the producer and calls the shots on press junkets. The interviews should be about the movie and not about their growing family. Some of you were right on, if you read Marie Claire, Parade, and saw Ann Curry, ACCESS Hollywood interviews, they gave us a glimpse of their personal lives already. And of course, the tabs already picked up bits and pieces and blew some facts out of proportion. You cannot blame Brad and Angie to put a limit or exclusive rights to these reporters and interviews because their interviews may be taken out of context when it reaches the final print. The movie is about a brutal attack on a real person and the message is serious to us. Why would a reporter ask Angie about Shiloh or where they are going this summer? Brad is the producer and was the one who hired lawyers for this kind of things. He is an informed businessman/producer.
Angelina should’ve thought about her pjrivacy before boring us ad nauseum with the details of her sex life, ******* everything that moved in Hollywood, carrying blood vials and frenching her brother in public. Isn’t this the same woman who just recently revealed that she talks in the bath tub with Brad, that her newest son sleeps with them, and is almost naked on the cover of Esquire. This woman is such a hypocrite.

Fox news has plenty of reporters out in the field risking their lives to cover events around the world. They also have people who cover the soft news and entertsainment just like CNN and other places have.

Showbiz Tonight is on HN, a CNN station and they have always targeted Angie. I watch and I burn with rage everytime. They don’t like her on the View or on Oprah but it’s ABC. Do you get upset at them like you do at Fox?
Didn’t Bill O’Reilly correct his impression of Angelina and was even proud to say that she’s legit? Did the other stations?
Angelina banned Fox because they have had her father there a few times. That is her beef with them. As much as I love Angelina, I accept she has faults too. Love her just the same though, that won’t just change because of this.
The reason the view and oprah don’t like angie is because they cater to the mini-van majority and we all know who their poster girl is. They will always side with the girly girl who has a squeaky clean image and that is why women who can’t relate to angie will always take a swipe at her.

Fox News saw that they could get better ratings by going deeper into the gutter, like the did with the Paris Hilton thingy.
So they will use AJ in any form or fashion to keep those ratings.
Fox News doesn’t care about ‘AMH’ or that Daniel Pearl lost his life in the name of getting the truth out in the open or that Mariane and Adam suffer a great lost. It’s all about them and what they want and everything else be d@mned.
I still say that Fox News went there with less than honorable intentions and all this whining proves it!

Kudos for Paramount vantage for taking the high road and giving notice to all that this important film should be the film. No tabloid stuff. Those who refused to agree were not doing it on principle but because they all know they wanted to ask Angelina what it’s like to kiss Brad Pitt. If that quote from the rep from Doctors without Broders is true, then he’s an idiot. The paparassi are not considered press. Only credentialed photographers with completed background checks are press. These people should be allowed to do their job. Does Reporter Without Borders mean reporters who act without boundaries including breaking into people’s homes, running people over for a story, stealing, peeping onto children’s school and schoolgrounds, then down with that organization.
Paparazzi have no business trying to take business from legit photojournalists. Do you all know what Paparazzi means in Italian? This phrase was deveeloped during the Hollywood Italian heyday with the whole la Dloce Vita era of film with director Fellini. It means annoying little buzzing bugs. How could a legit reporter consider himself like one? Amazing!
