Angelina Jolie: Pimp My Picture, Not My Life!
Angelina Jolie tried to keep things focused during Wednesday night’s NY premiere of A Mighty Heart. Media outlets were required to sign contracts before talking to Jolie (as drawn up by her Hollywood lawyer Robert Offer).
Here were the contract terms for interviewing:
- No questions regarding her personal relationships
- In the event Interviewer does ask Ms. Jolie any questions regarding her personal relationships, Ms. Jolie will have the right to immediately terminate the interview and leave
- The interview may only be used to promote the Picture. In no event may Interviewer or Media Outlet be entitled to run all or any portion of the interview in connection with any other story
- The interview will not be used in a manner that is disparaging, demeaning, or derogatory to Ms. Jolie
- The tape of the interview will not be released to Interviewer if any of the aforementioned things happened
One reporter from a major outlet said, “I wouldn’t sign it. Who does she think she is?”
FOX News reports that USA Today, the Associated Press and other media outlets canceled their interviews with Jolie. When she heard the reaction, Jolie scrapped all print interviews.
Hey Angelina, JustJared.com would have interviewed you!!

Why wasn’t a restriction put on the foreign press? Oh…I don’t know, maybe it’s because unlike their American counterparts, the Foreign media respects issues, they know what’s appropriate and when it is. Instead of getting all prissy, the American Media needs to take a stock of themselves. Honestly, WHY do we need to tell a main stream media outlet to stay on topic? I mean…shouldn’t that be a given? Why do we need to tell CNN, FOX and MSNBC not to miscontrue other people’s words….now I only took 9hrs of Media communications, 3 of which was about media ethics but even I with my limited experience, know twisting words IS NOT one of the ways to get a story.
The American Media has just been schooled on Ethical behavior and the Standards of News Reporting. With the foreign media, we have people asking very intelligent questions, over here we have media asking ridiculously stupid questions like….like….”How many children are you gonna have” honestly, is that what we really need to know especially during the screening of a heavy movie like AMH? I mean really?! So yeah, I say more power to the people in charge for AMH. They have chosen to undertake the thankless job of schooling the media on how to stay on topic. It’s a dirty job but it’s about time someone did it.
I’m not surprised at all by this turn of event….what surprises me is the reaction to it. Seriously, we’re talking about an entire news group who literally interrupted their regular scheduled program (of talking about the Iraq War and Soldiers who have died) just so they can show Paris Hilton being handcuffed and put in a car. That day was a sad, sad, commentary on how far the American Media has fallen.
By the way, why are they getting all hot and bothered? I mean if they had the right intentions…of staying on topic, then signing those papers won’t be a big deal….right? Yeah, right.
I agree with u #100. lol
BIG ******* DEAL!
SHE IS ************* ANGELINA! AND SHE CAN DO WHATEVER THE **** SHE WANTS!
ESTOS PENDEJOS PUTOS QUE ME ASEN ENOJAR CON SUS STUPIDAS PENDEJADAS!

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE ANGIE!

Finally .. Brad told her to put a sock in it. That is what happens when you share your life with the world and then expect them not to want to know your personal life. Hopefully she has learned her lesson.
++++++++++++++++
I think people are overlooking the fact that there’s a third party involved here - the studio. Maybe it’s the studio’s mandate to cut down on the personal interviews and pimp the movie more. For the most part Angie has always answered whatever questions are asked of her and because she’s such an interesting person and her interviews SELL MAGAZINES AND NEWSPAPERS…that’s what the media cares about. So it’s possible the studio wanted the interviews on the day of the premiere to put the focus squarely on the movie and not on Angier herself.

Ahh. I skip over most of the posts due to peoples negativity. And I agree, I absolutley ignore the ignorant comments. If you respond it only encourages them. Besides, Brad and Angelina do not need me to defend them, much less would they know if I did or even care.
Last night was not a two hour sit down interview. She was asked a couple of questions by some reporters and she was there to promote her film, so ofcourse she didnt want to discuss her personal life. If she allowed those questions to be asked, thats pretty much all people would ask. And realy, how on earth do you think that would not only make her and Brad feel, but more importantly Marianne Pearl? This was realy Marianne’s night, not a night with another chance to ask the couple about their children, again. For some reason the world is obsessed with celebrities private lives and especially the children, and thats what sells. And these reporters care more about that then a real woman with real feelings who lost her husband in the most gruesome and cruelest way possible. How very sad.
Angie is a very open woman, and everyone that knows anything about her knows that she will continue to answer questions about her and her family in interviews that allow her more time. A chance to discuss the kids AND her work. Last night was not a two hour sit down, she wouldnt have been able to do both. Give the lady a break. She was doing the right thing.

I agree with you….Pendejos!!!!
Danm idiots stop posting NOW! She is still ANGELINA the mother of foul not fool’s like you.
I just don’t understand why the press was so furious about angelina decision not to answer any personal question.. she have the right to do that to have 100% focus to the movie not to her personal life.. I think if not the focus will be 70% story about her personal life and 30% about the movie.. she done the right thing.. although i think Brad was the person behind all this becoz Angelina Jolie that we all known is very out spoken and brutally honest about her personal life..this is the first time ever she become a bit firm to the press..Its good for the movie and for her..
To the reporter b*tch who said “who does she think she is”.
I say to you, who do you think you are B*TCH, getting mad ’cause Angie will not let you pry into her personal life, when she is there to promote a movie.
FILTHY SO-CALLED REPORTER B*TCH!

Slightly OT…
I saw TDS and heard the reaction of the audience. For those who missed it, they will rebroadcast the show at 8pm EST.
For some reason, Fox’s attack on Angelina makes me smile, mainly because they threw in the fact that their review of AMH was positive. To me, that implies that they expected something in return, mainly access to her. Unfortunately, they failed to acknowledge that they helped to spread rumors about Angelina, ie. the lapdance story, Angelina doesn’t love Shiloh, Angelina’s Vogue story was an admission of misconduct, the Angelina versus Madonna saga, Brad give Angelina an ultimatum regarding Shiloh, Angelina’s UN work is solely for publicity, Angelina’s ‘bad attitude’ at the GGs, James is worried about Angelina’s weight, and dozens of other stories; the sad thing is that all of these stories were within the last six months.
And let’s not forget that Fox is slow about making corrections a la mistaking Congressman Conyers with William Jefferson. Angelina never received any sort of consideration from them at all, so why should she play with them?
Fox seems only watches NBC in order to catch and point out their mistakes; unfortunately for them, they failed to watch the Ann Curry interview when Angelina declared that she appreciated great journalism and that it was a part of her education. She also stated that she had to question the reputation of a news outlet if they report incorrect information. That was a foreshadow, my Fox friends.
Angelina stated that she didn’t read tabloids, and sadly, she doesn’t have to. The so-called mainstream media, specifically, those more to the right, regurgitate these rumors if only to have something to rail against and shout their indignation about. The indignation may be well-placed, but the scenerio that they were talking about was usually a work of fiction; but what remains is the memory- the fact that some of these anchors, placed a human face or reaction, to a supposed story.
Another reason why I’m smiling is because this alleged ’slight’ completely overshadows Ted C.’s. He is merely a gossip monger, not necessarily a profession that elicit admiration and respect. These so-called legitimate journalists, who may have covered hard news, now seem to be purveyors of lies too. The same remedy applied to the same symptom. That would be infinitely more humiliating to so-called legitimate news outlets and their journalists.
rubi totally agree with you estas putas y putos ya no saben que decir a mi tambien me tienen arta
some people saying the film will bomb are crazy, saying the film was for the x etc,all this bitterness never cease to amaze me.anyway, lets not forget to watch larry king and daily show
I think she did so much answering about her personal life in Cannes, that it was done. She probably thought it was a bit much and decided to change strategy here in NY. She didn’t want the same thing to happen here as it happened in Cannes.
But yet again, a non story is making the blogs. That’s the press for you.
To the reporter who said who does she think she is? When u wanted to interview her whom did u think she was? Bonjoling.
Fox news= Hijos the….
I dont blame her. Everyone always wants her to talk about her personal life, and then they twist things around and say she wont shut up about it. The event is to promote the movie and honor Daniel Pearl and that should be their focus.
the story is bogus people did ask her about her personal life so i don’t get it
Hey guys, I just saw an tv ad for tonight’s Daily show, I loved it. The voice over said that Angie is “Multi-talented, Mutlti-tasking, Mutli-Beautiful,” as they show pictures and video of her. “There’s only one word that describes her” a picture of her appears with words like “Actress, producer, humanitarian, mother” around her face. The voice over guys says, “Multi!”
Angie talks about her personal life some complaint she doesn’t same reaction, but what they want she does?
Leave Angie alone.
WAY TO GO ANGIE!!!! I absolutely applaud her actions.
The press always like to make it seem as though they are the innocent party in everthing, as though they are just doing their jobs. So now Angie is the ‘bad guy’ here because she requested not to be questioned about her private life, but only about the movie. That would be a tough request when you only had questions on everything but AMH.
Good for you Angelina, some mags just make up
stories just to sell. I stopped buying Life and
Style and i just go to this site and Pittwatch.
Angelina forEVER.
It is time we rally around Angie!! It is time we rally around women who are strong and are trying to make a difference in the world. Go Angie! Angie for Prseident!

I can see some morons are having a field day with this. Just so we’re clear, this is the heart of the matter…..
Reporters were asked to agree to “not ask Ms. Jolie any questions regarding her personal relationships. In the event Interviewer does ask Ms. Jolie any questions regarding her personal relationships. Ms. Jolie will have the right to immediately
I ask you all REASONABLE people….Why is this request causing such a big deal? She’s promoting a movie that tells the story of someone else’s Tragedy and requests that all mundane questions about her own life…questions which adds no value to the issue at hand be left outside. She basically challenged the Media to have an INTELLIGENT DISCOURSE with her and instead of takig heu on it, what do they do? They stump their feet, throw themselves to the floor and cry like the babies they are.
Instead of being embarrased that they had to be told how to do their jobs and try as much as possible to let it die down, the fools are calling attention to their incompetencies.
