Brad & Angelina - “A Mighty Heart” After Party
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie attend the A Mighty Heart premiere after-party at NYC’s The Metropolitan Club on Wednesday night.
The premiere and after-party were thrown for Reporters Without Borders, an international group that protects the rights of journalists and photographers. A Mighty Heart is based on a book written by Marianne Pearl, the widow of slain Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl.
Other pictures include Brad & Angie graciously signing autographs for fans during the film’s premiere.

I am really looking forward to see AMH. Just see the trailer, you can tell it is a powerful movie and powerful performance by Angie.

Looks like they had a crowd waiting for them.
Hopefully after the shows thursday they will go on their vacation. Not be seen until August when Angelina has to be in Chicago.

Brad does look tired. Angelina looks worn out in a zexy way but they both look really content. I think this has been the culmination of a long year with A Mighty Heart. The promotions and stuff like that are over. They must feel like crashing into a bed with their clothes on. Oh well now they can rest because the relatives are there to help.

A Power Couple would get better ratings with dateline then the worst of the year for that show. It appears that not many people wanted to watch them. Let’s see how the movie does.
Why don’t you guys say right now how much you expect it to make. let’s say 20 million on the opening weekend would be a success? Put in your numbers now and then we will know if it was a failure or not. anything less than 20 million on the opening weekend would be a filure right? I mean TBU made 40 million on the opening weekend. And surely a POWER COUPLE with producer and actress who have done several magazines and gone to every red carpet they can in the last month should made that kind of money. I challenge you now to state what type of money would be a success and what money would make this film a failure.
Brad told ET they are going to take a little summer vocation. Hope they will have a very good rest. They have working so hard lately.

Yup they’re probably a bit wiped. Promoting 2 films at the same time must be pretty darn exhausting.
Wish that people would lay off the weight issue with Angie - on top of their hectic life she just lost her mom a few months ago. It may seem like a long time, but to the person going through it, it is still like yesterday. The images stick with you for a long time and it ain’t pretty. Harping about it is just unnecessary.

So nice to see Brad’s mum and sister and James are in town to support Brad and Angelina’s movie. I do wonder if they hadn’t all flown in from Missouri.
According to the Vogue article, they have 2 planes. the Sirrus and the other one which seats 8 people. Perhaps they can hire a professional pilot to help them pilot the bigger plane. Otherwise, I don’t know how else they can just about come and go from city to city in the US without anyone seeing them at the airports.

In the US it will only open in two cities and for several weeks only. It’s not a movie like Fantastic Four or Knocked up. Do you have any clue about what this film is about? Do you have any clue about what the average fat American wants to see in films?
Hey, Sam, take a look at videos of the AMH and O13 premieres in Cannes, the O13 L.A. and Las Vegas premieres, and the AMH NY premiere (5 premieres). See them? Hear them? It is clear - except to the blind & the deaf - that Angelina and Brad have tsunami-like popularity compared to the tiny grains of sand of haters on the blogs.
Oh, check out the tabloids and entertainment shows. Angelina & Brad are called THE power couple of Hollywodd, Hollywood’s ROYAL COUPLE,the #1 celebrity couple in the world.

LOL Seriously…EVERYONE associated with this movie knows it’s not going to pull down summer blockbuster numbers and they’ve stated that fact in a few interviews. What HAS happened thus far though is critical acclaim. The performances are being lauded and that is what will matter in the end.
P.S. BTW, comparing a ‘rom-com’ summer flick with a movie about a journalist being kidnapped and beheaded is asinine.

I have never seen a couple so desperate to tell the world all of their private stuff. Take a hint from others like Leo, Tom Hanks, Johnny, etc. Keep your private stuff private.
I realize that they are desperate to sell this movie but really how many articles and tv shows has she done to sell this thing. If it doesn’t do well at the box office I hate to imagine what she will have to do for her next movie. Maybe ten magazines and every talk show out there. Think that will help her films?

Sam - trying to compare a film like this with TBU is like comparing apples and oranges - you can’t. The fact of the matter is that this film will do well with a certain demographic and most of the reviews have been favourable, pinpointing Angie for an Oscar nomination. This film is not just about box office dollars - it is about getting a message out there and telling an important story.
What was the message of TBU? Don’t date a washed up sitcom actress?

TBU and AMH is two totally different movie for two different audience. One is a big budget movie that proved that VV is a man who can get his fans to come see anything that involves him. AMH is a smaller budget movie that involves storytelling of real life events. TBU was opened nationwide while AMH is limited release. Be honest with your bitter self…the buzz around AMH is big especially with oscar/gg talk around it while TBU had the hype of a non existen couple and die pretty much in week three. What great movie has you know that can’t survive more than three weeks.
Gawd…it kills me when you poster keep bring up tbu as some great movie that featured JA’s talent..that movie did what it did due to VV so plz stop with the nonsense b/c if it was just JA..why didn’t Derailed and that indie pic do as well as tbu?
Is A Mighty Heart one of those 3 hour films? These types of serious movies seem to be. Remember Babel? Very Long.

The stars emerged to grace the red carpet, but noone brighter than Hollywood’s most glamorous twosome, Angelina Jolie and boyfriend Brad Pitt. The movie, starring Angelina Jolie as the wife of murdered journalist Daniel Pearl, is based on the book covering his research on Pakistani terrorist networks. Mariane Pearl has in fact, thanked the couple for making it about the film, and not about themselves. The movie was co-produced by Pitt, who is also promoting his other film, the thriller Ocean’s Thirteen.
Noone can ever predict these Hollywood liaisons, probably not even the stars themselves. Angelina Jolie, who had two previous marriages, first to Jonny Lee Miller and then to Billy Bob Thornton, walked out of both to eventually become a single mom, megastar, and a Goodwill Ambassador for the UN Refugee Agency. After a modeling stint, she moved on to small parts in films and later won herself three Golden Globes, two SAG’s, and one Academy Award. All of this and she is barely in her thirties. Brad Pitt, came out of long term relationships with actresses Gwyneth Paltrow, Juliette Lewis, and a marriage to Jennifer Aniston. After small television roles in Growing Pains and Another World, he launched himself on the big screen with hits like Interview With A Vampire in 1994 and Meet Joe Black. Pitt was named one of Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People In The World in their 2007 edition. Jolie’s most successful film to date is her film with Pitt, Mr. and Mrs. Smith.
So rare is it that a pair with onscreen chemistry could have lasting sparks off the movie sets. But then again, it’s just as unusual that two people could be as chromosomally advantaged as these two! In a world like Hollywood where sartorially challenged people abound, these two shimmer like stars in a night sky.

Sometimes we run out of adjectives to describe them, they’re that good. Clothed in casuals such as at Cannes, or dressed to the nines in good old Gotham, we love them all the same. If Hollywood had an ideal coupling, this would be it. Angelina seems to be perpetually in a black mode, it’s not a bad color on her statuesque frame, and not inappropriate considering the topic of their film. The low-cut dress with uneven hem and peep-toe heels strike the right chord: seriously elegant. Brad’s outfit picks up the black in his date’s too well. His black suit and tie says Hollywood A-lister but not in a way that distracts from the tone of A Mighty Heart. No doubt, daughter Shiloh would be proud.

Here’s an answer to that silly question…if AMH makes more than it took to make it…it’s a hit but even more than that if this film gets the attention during award season …like Babel…it will do more than anyone thought.
My guess is that you are bitter about JA not adopting or whatever hair brainless scheme her and her PR people create this week. It’s not funny being a fan to a fake actress that only claim to fame will be a famous hair cut and the ex wife to a legend. Great legacy wouldn’t you say?

No one in their right mind is going to give you estimates not knowing basic info like how many theatres/showings etc. It’s been stated the movie isn’t one that is going to make a lot of money by various publications and individuals…if that makes it a B-O-M-B in your mind that’s cool. On the other hand there are a lot of folks who have seen the film who think it’s got some Oscar buzz (specifically Ms. Jolie’s role). That might make it a success in some circles. Unless maybe you think a movie that makes a lot of money is the only way to gauage it’s success.

I read it and thought…she’s skin and how many times is this going to be mentioned. She has admit that she is a bit thin and she is working on it. I would be more worried if she gain twenty pounds in a span of a month b/c that’s unhealthy. I’m sure she is doing everything that she needs to in order to live a healthy life with her family.

They travel by private jet and go into smaller airports where they are not usually tracked down by paps. Angelina said that she had not been able to fly lately and would not take the kids up in the air while she was rusty.
They might have been in MO with Brad’s family for a couple of days before traveling to NYC. I hope they get a chance to get some good vacation time and just rest for a while. They have both been ultra busy for the past few months, and will be again in a month or two.

*sigh* I don’t see the problem. We have been bashed over the head a dozen times that she is thin. People have seen her in person have commented. WE KNOW. Yes, she’s thin. She has gained weight. Go back and look at TGS premier and now. Losing someone you love takes a lot out of a person. Give them time.
No comment about Brad. I think he looks fine and even the close ups I don’t see any makeup at all. I think he’s a handsome guy of course and doesn’t need anything to look hot. Maybe he doesn’t feel comfortable for some reason. I think he looks better in candids usually.

I agree this movie was not made to bring in the big bucks. It was made to tell a story. I’m keen to see it and I will encourage my friends to do the same but I don’t expect everyone will appreciate it. It’s just not that kind of movie. As a fan I would prefer to see them make a good movie rather than it be judged by its success at the box office.
Unfortunatly it won’t come to Australia until October. Hopefully I will catch it before then while overseas.

The Good Shepherd did not do well, it didn’t even make it budget worldwide. Why? Angie is so big and that was a big film. Babel did not do well. What 33 million in the USA? Hi guys! I said earlier that I was going to check them out in the premier. and i did! got lousy pictures though. but i did. it was my first time to see angie.
got there around 6 pm and there was a crowd already. i stood up right in front of the Ziegfeld billboard but the entrance was on the other side of the block from where i was. suddenly, traffic accumulated, then there was this black navigator suv that stopped right infront of where i was. Around 6:30ish,Angie came out from the car!!!! I couldnt believe it.I just stared at her. She was so beautiful!(she looked a bit tired though) This was the first time i got starstruck. my hands refused to move to pictures..oh well i did took some but lousy. dont know where to post them. She came over,posed for pics then came over to say hi to this little girl. Brad came over and then Angie started to move to the other side. and there was Brad, stretching his hand to us! I shook hands with him!!! he was grateful, saying thanks for coming to everyone who was there. He wasnt that tall as i expected. He looked tired, his hair is blonder than what appeared in the pics. he is leaner too.and soft voice.
He then moved on to the other side where Angie was. Angie didnt stay that long to sign and pose. She ended up waiting for Brad in the middle of the entrance to finish. She approached Holly and spoke with her for a bit when Brad came over. They then posed for pictures together….
what an amazing experience for me….ahhh…just wanted to share. just got back from the theater to watch O13…not bad.

This was a complex lengthy convoluted film about the CIA, that had more of an arthouse feel than a wide release blockbuster — the studio did not expect it to do what it did. Angelina was a supporting cast player, Matt Damon was the star — but anyone with a brain in their head, will tell you it was AJ who contributed most (and is still adding to the pot via pay video and rentals) to that 100 million take.

Not having to wonder about all that therapy and counselling he and his ex used to need to stay sane. It sounds like a great adaptation of a what is I know a wonderful book, and even if the only thing this movie achieves is increase interest in that story it would be worth it.

Let’s say they do look tired so what? They have been on a whirlwind promotional tour for their movies, that is their job. It would be surprising if they were not tired. Any actor you meet in person is skinnier in real life. It has to do w/ how they look on camera. So add grief such as a death in the family or the stress of work and promoting your work you lose weight and look tired. Nothing more or sinister about it. I really wanted to go to that premier but lost the writing contest. Oh well may be next time.
The real issue is A Mighty Heart is an important film. A high school here in LA was just named for Daniel Pearl. The story is a family that wants to celebrate a man’s, who tried to get to the truth, life and not the way he died. Let’s all go see it.

Anyone with any common sense knows that parents of 4 small ones under 6 who have been working and traveling all over the world for the last 6-7 weeks are going to be a bit tired and sleep deprived, no matter how much help they might have. Additionally Brad traveled to Montreal and back to Prague, like 3000+ miles in a matter of a few days, and then at least 5000+ miles to LA from Prague a few days after that. Then back to work in LA last week for the two adults immediately after returning from Prague. Two adults and four small ones whose internal clocks are on who knows what time zone. I am exhausted just thinking about their schedules.
And still Brad and Angelina are shining and beautiful on the red carpet. They will return from their vacation rested and refreshed. Count on it.

n fyi new parents loose weight all the time because they are trying to keep up with their new born, and considering brad and angie says they want to do everything themselves means they will be the one up at nights! meaning promoting two movies, press junkets, primeres and everything else I still can’t believe they are still standing!

and angie well her mom passed away recently on top of everything else she is experiencing loss in a gigantic way her mom was her family, now she has her own family which she always thought wasn’t possible until she me her man that she could count on who could take care of her which is something she never had before.
look if you say you’ve met them lucky you but honestly for two ppl who have so much attention on them and still be sane thats says a lot about their bond, n for angie to decide to be with brad in the beginning she had to decide to be a even more public person and expose mad to all of that to, for her to say yes meant a lot as a mother but I’m sure it meant a lot more for brad that someone wanted to share his crazy life with him.
I think brad realized he wanted a bigger life when he met angie and I think she gave him the support and confidence to chase his dreams and goals. I think brads life before he met angie he was surrounded by people that made him feel limited and uneasy about himself. I guess he just wanted more and now he has it all. All that he could imagine.

There is no way she looks amazing. Dont get me wrong, she has a stunning face and is very atractive but her bones are actually sticking out. I think Angie’s look OK recently, she was really thin at GG and right after her mom past away, but at recent RC of OC13 and this one, she’s gaining weight. her arm was meatier. I would consider her slim not skinny, skinny is Victoria Beckham and Nicole Richey, she had the same body index like Jessica Alba, slim and sexy.

About the price of the dress. That shows that she has good fashion sense and knows a bargain. Many of my coworkers hit the vintage shops and resale shops and get great bargains! I have a cousin that shops Goodwill and Salvation Army regularly and finds dresses with the price tag still attached. Thats where she got her prom dress. The Salvation Arm store in Dallas has a boutique section with very nice professional suits! You just need to be the right size.

Rememeber that report accused Angelina of not promoting the movie. But Angelina does talk about the movie however the reports write 90% about Angelina and then just a little about the movie.

Yes, I think you are right. I think they want to focus on the movie and what the movie was about.
Also it is not just Angie, I believe, who asked the journalist to not to ask personal questions. There were lots of producers of TMH in the permier and I think it is decision of everybody. However, FOX is only accusing Angie because it is much easier and convincing to make people believe that it is totally Angie’ decision, making Angie look bad. How easy to accuse a woman for everything. It is sad world we are living in.

She is obviously suffering from malnutrition and possibly an eating disorder. I read once that many volunteers that return from third world areas end up with eating disorders because they feel so guilty to have an abundance of food available to them that they just won’t eat.

That is exactly what I thought too. Angie and Brad where there to support the REAL journalist. The ones that are endangering their lives to cover wars and social issues and inform the world objectively. They went to support the work Daniel Pearl did as a journalist.And for the fact that he was violently killed simply for doing his job. Not any of the gossip and Tabloid writters.It’s lughable that they’re even calling them selves journalists. They where not there to answer questions such as what she got from her birthday or what they eat for breakfast. ‘Mighty’ Hypocrite Angelina Joile Bans FOX and Others From Premiere
Angelina Jolie’s true colors came out yesterday as she promoted a film about freedom of the press and then tried to censor all her interviews.
Jolie is touting freedom of the press these days, playing the widow of murdered Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl in a new movie called “A Mighty Heart.”
But Jolie turns out to be a mighty hypocrite when it comes to her own freedom of the press. Her lawyer required all journalists to sign a contract before talking to her and Jolie instructed publicists at first to ban FOX News from the red carpet of her premiere.
Ironically, last night’s premiere of the excellent Michael Winterbottom-directed film was meant to support an organization called Reporters Without Borders. Jolie, however, did everything she could to clamp down on the press and control it.

That’s not all: Jolie told Paramount Pictures publicists to ban FOX News Channel and all FOX News affiliates from covering the “Mighty Heart” premiere on the red carpet. It was only with the intervention of mortified Paramount staff that a FNC camera crew was allowed to be present.
Apparently, no one told Jolie of the highly positive review FOX News had given “A Mighty Heart” from Cannes.
Jolie is famous by now for directing press and selling rights to her photos. She has long been in business with People magazine, orchestrating photo shoots of her children. The money, she says, goes to charity.
This column reported a year ago, on June 8, 2006, about how Jolie and Pitt were responsible for the expulsion of journalists in Namibia where the couple went to have their child, Shiloh. Their bodyguards regularly got into fights with local photographers hoping to make some money from the couple’s colonial residency in their country.
After Shiloh was born, Jolie and Pitt gave a news conference, but limited it only to Namibian journalists. No reporters from neighboring countries were allowed. The couple sat on the dais with Sam Nuuyoma, Namibia’s first president, aka dictator, who ruled for 25 years.
In 2002, Nuuyoma abruptly appointed himself minister of information and broadcasting. According to the Committee to Protect Journalists, Nuuyoma has routinely attacked reporters from his country calling them “unpatriotic” and “the enemy.”
During the time Pitt and Jolie were in the country, a former photographer for the Namibian, the daily newspaper, was arrested twice for trying to get a picture of the couple. South African John Liedenberg was arrested on municipal property during the Jolie-Pitt stay and pronounced guilty of trespassing. His passport and camera equipment were confiscated as well.
Treatment of the press is so bad in Namibia, in fact, that an organization called the National Society for Human Rights was formed several years ago to protect reporters’ rights.
The NSHR, which is usually busy with more important matters, issued a statement on April 24 strongly condemning the deportation of foreign journalists from Namibia who wanted to cover the Pitt-Jolie visit.
“As the principal human rights monitoring and advocacy organization in this country, we strongly repudiate this unprecedented and blatant violation of the constitutionally guaranteed freedom of speech and expression, which includes freedom of the press and other media,” the statement read.
It’s a little unclear how Mariane Pearl, whom Jolie plays in “A Mighty Heart,” feels about her portrayer’s position on freedom of press for some, but not all. Yesterday, I spoke to Jeff Julliard, the editorial director of Reporters without Borders in Paris.
“Paparazzi should be allowed to do their job,” he said, adding that he condemned Jolie’s banning of FOX News and actions taken on her behalf in Namibia.

Bill O will be all over that Fox News snub. He has a hard on for the lovely Angelina. I personally don’t totally agree with it, but they are free to do whatever they want to do. I do not think she is against talking about her personal life, far from it. But people make too big of a deal about her personal life and have it all overshadow the movie.
I do think it’s a joint decision between Brad and Angelina. People always seem to forget that Brad is probably the more press savvy of the two.

Jolie is touting freedom of the press these days, playing the widow of murdered Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl in a new movie called “A Mighty Heart.”
But Jolie turns out to be a mighty hypocrite when it comes to her own freedom of the press. Her lawyer required all journalists to sign a contract before talking to her and Jolie instructed publicists at first to ban FOX News from the red carpet of her premiere.
Ironically, last night’s premiere of the excellent Michael Winterbottom-directed film was meant to support an organization called Reporters Without Borders. Jolie, however, did everything she could to clamp down on the press and control it.

The agreement also required that “the interview may only be used to promote the Picture. In no event may Interviewer or Media Outlet be entitled to run all or any portion of the interview in connection with any other story. … The interview will not be used in a manner that is disparaging, demeaning, or derogatory to Ms. Jolie.”
If that wasn’t enough, Jolie also requires that if any of these things happen, “the tape of the interview will not be released to Interviewer.” Such a violation, the signatory thus agrees, would “cause Jolie irreparable harm” and make it possible for her to sue the interviewer and seek a restraining order.
I am told that USA Today and the Associated Press were among those that canceled interviews, and eventually Jolie scotched all print interviews when she heard the reaction.

Anyway - they should both look tired with 4 kids and all the stuff they’ve had going on lately just think about that. I know I get exhausted just preparing the family for a one week vacation let alone Prague, Cannes, LA & Now NY in the span of one month. Even with help, that has to take a toll on a person. I too agree the trailer for AMH looks very intense, I think Angie will definitely be a contender come award season. Angelina Jolie’s true colors came out yesterday as she promoted a film about freedom of the press and then tried to censor all her interviews.
Jolie is touting freedom of the press these days, playing the widow of murdered Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl in a new movie called “A Mighty Heart.”
But Jolie turns out to be a mighty hypocrite when it comes to her own freedom of the press. Her lawyer required all journalists to sign a contract before talking to her and Jolie instructed publicists at first to ban FOX News from the red carpet of her premiere.
Ironically, last night’s premiere of the excellent Michael Winterbottom-directed film was meant to support an organization called Reporters Without Borders. Jolie, however, did everything she could to clamp down on the press and control it.
Yesterday, reporters from most major media outlets balked when they were presented with an agreement drawn up by Jolie’s Hollywood lawyer Robert Offer. The contract closely dictated the terms of all interviews.
Reporters were asked to agree to “not ask Ms. Jolie any questions regarding her personal relationships. In the event Interviewer does ask Ms. Jolie any questions regarding her personal relationships. Ms. Jolie will have the right to immediately terminate the interview and leave.”
The agreement also required that “the interview may only be used to promote the Picture. In no event may Interviewer or Media Outlet be entitled to run all or any portion of the interview in connection with any other story. … The interview will not be used in a manner that is disparaging, demeaning, or derogatory to Ms. Jolie.”

Why wasn’t a restriction put on the foreign press?
