Well, wouldn’t you be? There are a lot of adjustments for this little guy, and being followed by people with cameras is but one. He still seems very calm though. Maybe because he is being held by his daddy and feels safe.

So happy that Brad’s mommy could be there for him last night. Wonder if Johnny’s mommmy ever comes and takes pictures of him? Wonder if they all stay in the same hotel room? If you see the pictures where he arrived..two photographers came running (more than likely from a tail vehicle) and a fan or a pap actually tried to touch him or Pax (not cool). LOL, if he knew he was going to the doctor, he had every right to look scared. I’ll never forget when my little guy was three years old and I had to take him to the doctor for his shots or for a checkup. The minute he saw the doctor’s front door from halfway down the block, he pitched a fit. Kids learn fast. Pax is doing great.

I love my parents but I am forever forgetting holidays like fathers or mothers day. I have a sister who is good at remembering and she reminds me. I’m sure Brad has a lot of people who probably do the same if necessary.

People always make that mistake when it comes to women. They think that if a woman doesn’t wrap herself in a cloak of self-loathing, that means that she’s unrepentant. Or if she makes decisions within her life that places her on the right path, she requires society’s seal of approval.

Angelina Jolie tried to censor the press on Wednesday at a red-carpet event intended to benefit Reporters Without Borders, an organization that advocates for freedom of the press.

Jolie, 32, banned Fox News Channel and all Fox affiliates from covering the premiere of her latest film, “A Mighty Heart,” in which she plays the widow of slain Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl.

Jolie then required all journalists covering the fete to sign a contract that barred them from asking anything of a personal nature. Any interviewer who asked questions Jolie deemed inappropriate would not be allowed to keep his or her tape of the interview.

Despite reports that USA Today declined to accept Jolie’s demands and opted out of the interview, editor Lorena Blas said the paper was never offered an interview in the first place.

A year ago, Roger Friedman of Fox News reported that “Jolie and Pitt were responsible for the expulsion of journalists in Namibia where the couple went to have their child, Shiloh.”

Jeff Julliard, editorial director of Reporters Without Borders in Paris, told Friedman he is opposed to Jolie’s actions, past and present.

“Paparazzi should be allowed to do their job,” he said.

LOS ANGELES—Yam Laranas confirmed to us that Jesse Bradford, who starred in Clint Eastwood’s “Flags of Our Fathers,” has the top role in the US remake of the thriller “Sigaw.”

Yam has been in LA since April to prepare the movie, to be titled “The Echo,” for production. He told us via e-mail: “We came up with names; Jesse Bradford was unanimously selected. He read the script and liked the character a lot. He asked to see the original and he fell in love with it. Jesse and I had lunch with the producers at the Ammo Cafe in Hollywood. We talked non-stop about the script and his character. I saw how excited he was.”

The Filipino filmmaker, who has the privilege of directing the Hollywood version of his acclaimed horror film, added, “Jesse is now working out daily—undergoing weight training. He has a nutritionist to help him beef up for the ex-con role. We will definitely see a different Jesse Bradford in ‘The Echo.’”

Yam continued: “We have been casting non-stop for the rest of the roles. It’s fun to see a lot of very good actors and actresses coming in to audition. Nakakatuwa kasi nakikita ko lang sila sa TV at sine, tapos nasa harapan ko for an audition. Our casting director is Nancy Nayor-Battino (‘The Grudge,’ ‘The Exorcism of Emily Rose,’ ‘Road Trip’). She is just amazing! She’s working with an associate na Pinoy but born and raised in Chicago. His name is John Barba and his family is from La Union. John is a very efficient caster (‘Punch Drunk Love,’ ‘Shattered Glass’). When you work with Nancy, you get auditions from top agencies like UTA, GERSH, CAA, etc.”

And more: “We hope to lock all other actors by early next week. I’m flying out to Toronto on June 23 to start prep for the Aug. 13 start date (of filming). We moved the shoot to Toronto from New York so we can have more shooting days. About 90 per cent of the movie will be shot inside a stage/studio.”

A news story of Jesse’s casting, titled “Bradford hears chilling ‘Echo,’” landed on the front page of The Hollywood Reporter.

“I blame all of you for that because I was excited,” Angelina Jolie told our press group with a laugh when a colleague of ours reminded her about the carefree girl she once was, who jumped into the pool after she won a Golden Globe Best Supporting Actress for “Girl, Interrupted” in 1999.

“I think I’m really the same person,” maintained the actress who was 23 at the time. Having just turned 32 in this recent press con at the Beverly Wilshire, she was given a bouquet of flowers.

Angelina is not quite that same girl who plunged into the Beverly Hilton’s pool in a beaded gown. Since then, Angelina has become a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and, with a passion to aid countries devastated by conflicts and diseases, adopted kids from around the world—Maddox (nicknamed Madd), 5, Zahara (Zee), 2, and her latest, Pax, 3. She has a biological daughter, Shiloh, 1, with her partner, Brad Pitt.

What has remained unchanged is that Angelina continues to be an excellent actress. The actress’ portrayal of Mariane Pearl, widow of slain journalist Daniel “Danny” Pearl, in “A Mighty Heart,” was praised by critics when the film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival last month.

At the Cannes press con for the movie which we attended, Angelina was a forthright interviewee as usual. But in this recent one, when it was more relaxed and we had her for slightly over an hour, she talked more openly for the first time. She did not shirk when asked about: the recent passing of her mother, Marcheline Bertrand; how Pax is doing; the rift with her father, actor John Voight; and how Brad was as her producer in “A Mighty Heart” and as her partner.

There was a catch in her voice as she mentioned Marcheline. She spoke about John in a hopeful tone. She squarely answered a question about her too-thin frame these days. For the fashionista readers, a female colleague supplied us this info: Angelina wore a vintage Moschino embroidered empire-waisted black cocktail dress and black Sergio Rossi high heels and toted a Botkier bag.

How is Brad as producer and as a partner?

I’m a very lucky woman. I have a beautiful family and Brad is a very supportive friend, man and a great father … and very romantic in his own way. But with this film, I was very nervous because I got to know Mariane and respected her so much. And then having somebody who is your partner as the producer can, in some ways, sound like a good idea but it can also make the pressure higher. I lost sleep over it. But he was very helpful.

Do you and Brad have different ideas about parenting?

We’re very similar. We back each other as parents. There is no divide like daddy’s okay with this but mommy’s not. We never want the kids to see us divided in the way we discipline. He’s just as affectionate and loving as I am. I am just as playful. They ride motorcycles and do boy things more than I do. They get dirty in the mud. But we try to make sure they know that they don’t divide mommy and daddy, that we agree, we’re together, we love each other and from there we have a family.

How does Brad help you in difficult times?

It’s funny to give all his secrets away. He’s really a great friend… If he’s sitting with me and asking how I feel, I feel like he really wants to know. He really cares. We talk very deeply about everything. When my mom passed away, he sat with me … and helped me through all the stages of handling it—what to deal with, her ashes, everything. He was just wonderful to my brother. I wasn’t thinking clearly. He spent the night asking us questions about our mom. He got us to tell funny stories about her, got us focused on all the love and the joy we were fortunate enough to have. He’s extraordinary.

How is Pax adjusting to his new family?

He’s a great kid. At first, we thought he was shy and quiet. Two days later at home, we discovered that he is the loudest member of the family. He is very athletic, very bold. We don’t know if it’s because he suddenly had (many forms of) freedom that he never had before. We still have a Vietnamese person around on occasion so he [won’t forget] his language. A Cambodian woman is coming to visit Madd. Pax and Zee have connected because they’re closer in age. Madd and Pax are brothers; there are times when they absolutely bond against everybody else in the family. They’re a tough team. Then they have moments when they bug each other—quite normal.

I’m really proud of Pax. You see certain things from somebody who has been institutionalized … habits. It’s quite obvious that he was used to a stronger discipline. It’s hard to change that—to be as strong [but] to just push him with love, by talking to him.

How are Brad’s parents with the kids? Do you sometimes leave the kids with them?

Brad’s parents are very kind to me, very warm. They’re great grandparents. It’s very important to me that the kids have that. I don’t know if I’d leave these four with anybody right now (laughter). I lay all of this at the feet of the media. They are the one(s) that refuses to do their job.

Angie tried to do the right thing but once again get bash for it.

As usual I applaud Ruben Napales’ interview with Angelina. He was able to get more in-depth on Angelina’s thought. I read almost everything about Angelina’s interviews with other reporter’s or journalist, some articles(legit, of course), but her current situation or thought about her father was never mention or asked. Now we know that she’s still thinking of a possible reconciliation with her father. We don’t know if it will happen, only Angelina knows.

I think Brad has something to do with Angie change to her dad. She seems to be open for the possible reconciliation with her father. This is a really big thing. She was very strong mind doesn’t want Jon in her life. Now her tone is different. Brad probably soften her.

Paul Colford, Director of Media Relations for the Associated Press tells Us: “APTN was asked to sign a document pertaining to an interview with her scheduled for tomorrow (Friday) but declined to sign because it is not AP policy to do so. Jolie has agreed to the one-on-one interview without the signed document.”

Why queue for hours to watch a film you can see at your local cinema in four months, and why go inside a party when you can have just as much fun outside?

Those were some of the questions I began asking myself Friday as cineastes here debated less critical issues, a la who should win the Palme d’Or.

While the 60th edition of the festival (15-27 May) was considered a strong year in critics circles - think “The Diving Bell and the Butterfly”; “No Country for Old Men”; and Romanian abortion pic, “4 Months, 3 Weeks & 2 Days” - there’s just no beating the live entertainment outside of the theater, or the soirees.

Highlights not to un-spool on the big screen included Jerry Seinfeld jumping from an eight-storey building; Roman Polanski storming out of a press conference; and a black truck advertising Burn energy-drink booming music up and down the Croisette.

Forget covering the Carlton in pricey ads. Burn wins the prize hands down for most effective marketing gimmick in town.

Most creative Cannes tie-in, meanwhile, goes to Motorola, which designed 25-limited edition cell phones, each bearing a cinema-themed word such as camera, cut or director, in diamante letters. Trust me, George Clooney took a good look as I shoved mine in his face Thursday to snap a photo. It’s just too bad I left the zoom function on.

Thanks to not getting into the Vanity Fair party, I had plenty of fun on the Hotel du Cap steps watching top models denied entrance; girls in posh frocks sussing out secret stairways, and stars a la Bono and DiCaprio come and go.

When I did make it into the cinema to see “A Mighty Heart,” “We Own the Night,” and “Ocean’s 13” frankly I asked myself why I’d bothered. The first featured Angelina in one of, I thought, the kitchy-est performances of her career. Following on from the work of Jennifer Lopez in “Bordertown,” which was laughed out of the cinema at the press screening in Berlin, it makes you wonder whether it’s not better for actors of a certain stature to trumpet these causes rather than dwarf such important political films.

“We Own the Night” turned out to be nothing more than gratuitous sex and violence that went absolutely nowhere; and “Ocean’s 13” really should have stopped at 12.

Still, with critical opinion running high, it seems this is one year one should have one’s cake and eat it.

Come Sunday, when everyone else is sleeping off the madness, there’s one person you can count on for the marathon competition repeats.

Bad Michael Winterbottom movies are not uncommon, but none have been as useless as A Mighty Heart. The film’s only achievement may be what Premiere’s Glenn Kenny acknowledges as the director’s understanding that audiences are no longer able to look at Angelina Jolie onscreen without seeing Angelina Jolie. Winterbottom recognizes the actress’s iconicity as a force that must be reckoned with—which is to say, disguised. Except the tricks he employs to help the actress disappear into the film’s tapestry of uncertainty aren’t exactly new and reek of evasiveness. You could say they’re as transparent as this painstaking chronicle of a police investigation is gutless.

Asking no questions, giving no insights, and demanding nothing of his audience, Winterbottom dramatizes the last days in the life of Daniel Pearl in his typically cold, hyperventilating fashion: cinematography that looks like the walls of the Lincoln Tunnel, shots that don’t last more than five seconds, and lazy cultural specificity. His faux sense of urgency attempts to keep the blood pumping, except all it does is camouflage this historical recreation’s almost disturbing lack of resonance. Well…not quite. His mother was there – good to know even the horny Pitts have a sense of propriety around the parents, which accounts for the limited ass holding last night at the NYC premiere of A Mighty Heart. I’m told Mrs Pitt seemed very fond of the mother of her grandchildren, was joined by Brad’s sister and Angelina’s brother and all seemed surprisingly familial given tabloid reports of family estrangement after Aniston.

As for Angelina’s dress – everyone is losing their **** because it was $26 purchased from a vintage shoppe in LA: chic on a budget paired with crystal Louboutins. Whatever. Kinda underwhelming if you ask me, but this is Angelina Jolie… it’s not like it’s ever bad, you know what I mean?

Stilll…as much as I’m a fan of Family Pitt Jungle Sex, I have also been a huge admirer of the way they sell it. Savvy spin like no one else in the business, a press machine helmed by two of the hottest, most intriguing stars in recent memory. Most of the time they succeed beautifully. On occasion…not so much.

Cut to last night, Pitt publicity gone awry, at least according to Fox News – not the most unbiased source, mind you, but nonetheless, Roger Friedman the entertainment editor has had a few greatest hits, namely his audacious challenge to the GMD, the RoboBride, and the sinister Church, and unfortunately for Team Pitt, this time he’s chosen to expose the Pitt press machine in a scathing article about Angelina’s hypocrisy towards the media.

Last night’s premiere of A Mighty Heart – as you know a film about Mariane Pearl coping with the kidnapping and subsequent murder of her husband and Wall Street Journal Reporter Daniel Pearl – was meant to raise awareness for an organisation called Reporters Without Borders. During the junket however, Angelina’s lawyer apparently required all journalists to sign contracts prohibiting them not only from asking personal questions but also from writing about the interview “in a manner that is disparaging, demeaning, or derogatory to Ms. Jolie.”

WTF???

Needless to say, the AP and USA Today took off, incensed at the censorship attempt and entirely unimpressed that a Hollywood movie star hawking a movie about journalistic liberties had the temerity to dictate orders to the press. Hard to argue with that…and trust me, I’ve been in a junket situation, I’ve been on the red carpet. Most of time, a publicist will just come in, give his/her warning, tell you what’s off limits, and everyone follows suit. On the rare occasion that someone steps out of line, all the celebrity has to say is: No comment. Or that’s not an appropriate question for me to answer. Her publicist gives the journalist a cold stare, and they move on.

As such, military tactics like these are not only unnecessary, they’re embarrassing. And for a couple having to deal with tabloid fallacies every week, for a couple whose chemistry is so convincingly magnetic, for a couple that has managed to capture worldwide fascination and obsession, going to these lengths only undermines the power of the Jungle Sex.

Clearly not well played…hypocrisy indeed.

Worthy to note however – spoke to a source this morning about the issue who told me that what’s laughable about wrangling and the maneuvering, as easy as it is to lay it on Angelina as a control freak, is that people very much underestimate Brad Pitt. Rumour has it, the Pitts themselves refer to it as the “misogyny of our society” in that he is constantly portrayed as the abandoned spouse left to look after the babes as she schemes to keep her enemies at a distance - ridiculous because it’s always been Brad who has been the media engineer, and prior to their hook up, Angelina Jolie’s approach was always, always easy access, open door, no publicists, and candid answers no matter how controversial. In observing their public portrayal however, especially when critics are circling hungrily, Brad always gets an easy pass and the blame always falls to Angelina.

Fox was on tour for “Doc Hollywood” — I had to sign a form promising I wouldn’t use material gleaned from our interview in any publication other than The Houston Post. (He was having trouble with the tabloid press at the time.) More recently, I was given “friendly warnings” not to ask Emma Thompson and Kenneth Branaugh (on separate TV junkets, natch) about their then-recent break-up, the clear implication being that if I did so, the interview would immediately end and I would never see my videotapes. Actually, my favorite situation like this: On the TV junket for “L.A. Confidential,” I wasn’t supposed to ask Kevin Spacey any questions about tabloid reporters stalking the then-recently-deceased Princess Di, because he was all bummed out about her death. Whatever. It’s not like I was going to interview George Bush, and I was told beforehand that all questions about Iraq were off the table. If Jolie doesn’t want to answer more questions about her kids or Brad or what’s her favorite position in bed, well, fine. I can only imagine that the people whining loudest are those who wanted to talk about THAT and not the movie. Screw ‘em.

Winfrey jumped two spots on the ninth annual list, released on Thursday, with earnings of $260 million from various media ventures. Woods moved up from No. 5 but made less than half Winfrey with $100 million in the past 12 months.
Lea Goldman, editor of the Forbes Celebrity 100 Power List, said Winfrey’s ranking was no surprise.
“She is pretty much a top five perennial, just based on her earnings alone she usually ranks up there,” Goldman said.
Madonna was not in the top 100 last year but Goldman said she made the new list after becoming the highest grossing female artist in history with her “Confessions” tour and for hitting the headlines by adopting of a baby boy from Malawi. Her earnings for the year were $72 million.
The Rolling Stones, who Forbes said earned $88 million this year, took the fourth spot, slipping from No. 2 last year.
After making the Forbes rankings for the past three years, hotel heiress Hilton was off the 2007 list. Also not making the cut were two other young women with party-girl reputations — actress Lindsay Lohan, who has not made the list since 2005, and singer Britney Spears, last ranked in 2002.
“We look at celebrities as brands and when you talk about those girls, you’re talking about diminished brand value,” Goldman said. “It’s not enough to just be a headline, and it’s not enough to pocket a paycheck — you have to have both.”

Cruise dropped to No. 8 from top spot last year, yet still showed his power by securing a deal with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. to revive United Artists movie studio just months after his bitter split from Paramount Pictures.
Two other actors broke in the top 10 this year and surpassed Cruise with Brad Pitt, partner of actress Angelina Jolie, hitting No. 5 and Johnny Depp taking the sixth spot. They were 20th and 27th, respectively, last year.
Goldman said while Depp earned a staggering $92 million off the back of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” movies, Pitt, who earned just $35 million, easily outscored him in the media.
“You could not escape Brad Pitt this year,” Goldman said. “The guy was ubiquitous and certainly because of his personal life and his new family, coupled with his earnings, which aren’t shabby … it really was a remarkable year for him.”

Thanks once more JJ. There is no denying that Brad and Angelina are the most sought after stars today. Paps make a lot of money just to catch any activity they may have. This is the reason why Brad always travels in L.A. wearing a helmet on his motorcycle so they don’t recognize him. Whether they are in Prague or India,or Cannes, the paps will be there. Now, they are in New York with Brad’s family and Angie’s brother, all of th paps are getting those pricey shots. Sometimes, he conducts interview for Time magazine on the phone(last year) and during the interview, the interviewer can hear helicopters above their Malibu home. This is Brad’s life inside a fishbowl so I guess you cannot say, he wants this errand with Pax for publicity purposes. He is on the cover of at least one or two tabloid mags every week even though he doesn’t want this type of exposure.

Quite honestly I think people are threatened by her. A blogger wrote an editorial a few months ago and I can’t remember who it is right now but she said something that really stuck with me and I always think about it during times like now. She said “Angelina doesn’t make anyone feel good about themselves.” In essence saying that she has such a full life and doesn’t let anyone set her standards and people are just naturally intimidated by that. And IMO the ones most vociferous are the ones most threatened. They’ll go from blog to blog screaming that everyone hates her and she is joke yet….as an actress she’s won numerous awards too many to count, as a humanitarian gets plenty of praise and respect from her peers. And then this years Forbes list comes out, which places her at number 14, number one among actresses. So if anything I just pity the people who want to focus on spreading the hate bc at this point their greatest joy is trying to keep her down. Misery LOVES company.

Paid trolls don’t get it that by trying to mess up B&A threads that they just add to the hits. Even if the comments are derogatory, nonetheless, B&A’s popularity just continue to soar instead. The controversies that they try to stir up just make more people interested. After weighing arguments from both fans and trolls, it is an easy choice for anyone with even moderate intelligence to know that fans can back up their claims real well with evidence and logic.

So fans, since paid trolls seem to be slow to snap out of it, just put up with them. They galvanize the fans even more by their attacks and convert more into fans by their ridiculous attacks.

It is obvious that there are just a small minority of noisy trolls but a huge but silent majority of fans out there. That is usually how it is in life. Most people who are supportive simply prefer to watch silently from the sideline. But their support B&A do get. Notice their popularity.

The truth is that we have three regular trolls. They might be paid or not, I don’t know, but they sit on JP’s thread all day long. They are a minority.

Seems to me that Angelina is comparable to Katharine Hepburn. Initially, she enjoyed career success; then, the press and public decided that they didn’t like her because she wasn’t accessible. She was on a higher plane; it took years for the press and fans to do a 180; and yet, she pressed on, maybe because she had a family to go home to.

Angelina has that and the privilege of living in a less constrictive time, although factions like Fox News, are fighting her all the way. Sadly, they feel that they have dominion over her personal life too, but she’ll learn ‘em!

I think you explaind it perfectly.
She accomplished so much and she is still quite young. She received GG and Oscar when she was in early 20, she adopted Mad and involved in refugees work in her middle 20.

When she does something she put herself more than 100% - when she loves she loves like crazy, when she dedicates refugees she goes to terrible and dangerous places, she becomes the person when she films movies. This is why she is so accomplished than anyone and some people is threatened by it.

Angie is a human being so she makes mistakes. The difference between Angie and some other people are that she does not whine/complain but just learn from her mistakes and try to do better.

Not sure if anyone added this to the argument but since as usual I am a day late and dollar short I will still add my 2 cents…

When I first heard what the press was saying…(I can’t access JJ from work “Hey Jared I am going through withdrawals!) anyway as I was saying. The first thought to run through my head was, how awkward it would be talking about your family with MP right there! This movie is HER story. The questions should really center around her life and how the book and movie came to be. I think B&A wanted to respect her enough and not answer questions that would have them gushing about their family when there sits MP with a family that has been irreparably altered.

I have a friend who lost her daughter and 2 grandchildren in an accident and I noticed in myself the need to not boast and brag around her about my children and grandchildren. It has been years and we are very good friends but there is a compassionate side to me that holds back on those things around her. It’s because I respect and care about her loss and her feelings.

Just my 2 cents.

Some of the posters, i.e haters,critics, over-analyzers are off their rockers. It ain’t that serious. Step away from the keyboard. BP and AJ will be just fine while some of you rant and rave about nothing. AJ is living her life. She cannot please everybody. She is a Mother, UN Representative, partner and actress. Focus more on her charity work and career and less on every mis-perceived slight, pictures and every action that she makes. BP and AJ will not fit in a mold to please everybody. Hell* you can’t even do it in your own personal lives. Let the people live their lives.

#347 That might not be the reason she signed autographs or agreed for the sit down. Anything she does is the big story and maybe she didn’t want that attention to overpower the film which a lot of people were involved in and had worked hard for.Imagine the press story jolie booed by fans at mighty heart screening that doesn’t reflect well for the film and we all know how the media reacted today over the fox story it doesn’t mean that it’s all for a good personal image it may well be but all i’m saying is it might not be as well.
