Forbes Magazine just released the Celebrity 100, their annual list of the world’s most powerful. They tallied up celebrities’ annual salaries, web rank, press rank and TV rank … and PRESTO!

Actress: Angelina Jolie at #14
Kid star: Daniel Radcliffe at #79
Supermodel: Gisele Bundchen at #53

Oprah pulled in earnings of $260 million for the year while all the tabloid regulars did not make the cut — Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears, who topped the Celebrity 100 in 2002.

He has been number two on this list for something like the last four or five years and Oprah has been nuumber one. Sorry Tiger, as long as there is an Oprah, you’ll always be number 2.
Okay, I know I’m guilty of stirring the pot here, but . . .
Last year Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston were tied for 35th place.
This year AJ is #14 and Aniston is #44.
And those are two very different power/career trajectories.
I think if you remove the Brad Pitt factor (which, don’t kid yourselves, IS a factor) the plain truth is that Angelina Jolie is a bonafide movie star, with talent and increasing successes, whereas Jennifer Aniston was a beloved television star who hasn’t quite manifested as a true movie star. She has celebrity, she has projects, she’s well liked, but she is never going to be a major movie star.
Whatever your personal views on the woman may be, AJ is gaining in power, influence and sucess, and Aniston is waning. She’s never going to be broke or anything - but her career has already peaked.

Kids, this is not a Maxim hot list or a popular-with-the-fans list. This is cold, hard math, baby.
This is money. This is business. It isn’t about look or talent. It’s about who signed what deals and can control projects, collect royalties, demand points on a contract - etc. This is the BUSINESS. It’s Forbes, not Variety.
In terms of business, the people listed are either ultra hot now (but could fade in a year or two) or consistently hot and and solidifying their power (Brad Pitt, anyone?).
They are winners. And in a capitalist society, that means they make, and they generate money. HUGE money.
Jessical Simpson, whether you can stand it or not, has made a **** ton of money and has lucrative deals that will keep making money for a long time. It has nothing to do with whether or not you can stand her or she has a talent you admire. She makes bank.

Nicole Kidman has had success since The Others. she was a part of Happy Feet. She got good reviews for her work in that, the film made a lot of money and won an Oscar. Cold Mountain was a great movie for her also and got Oscar nominations. It isn’t all about money. They look at a lot of diffent things when they make up this list. She worked a lot last year and probably made a good amount of money. The movies just haven’t come out yet.

Well I’m surprised - they are being a bit unfair to singers, don’t you think? What about people like … Beyonce, and Christina Aguilera? I should think they would be on there if it were about influence, but this list is decided a lot by income too I suppose, which can be monopolized by label leaders … at any rate there were still quite a few obscure people on there that could stand replacing.
Also, I understand that a lot of people hate Britney Spears, but if they calculate media exposure then she should be on there. I think they took her off because otherwise people would complain that their list was a “joke,” as it is a “power” list which ranks celebrities on their influence..but then shouldn’t they take off anyone who only got on because of gossip and stuff? People like Hilary Duff and Jessica Simpson who haven’t really…achieved anything, and who can’t influence people’s decisions because they are not taken seriously by the public, should be demoted too don’t you think?
I think this is more of a “visibility and money” list than a power or influence list. Power and influence can’t be measured this way.
AJ is voted one of the most hated celebrities in the world while JA is top 5 most liked… so.. being most powerful does not nessacarily mean most liked.. also, give her some time… JA will do more movies and shell be popular again… i mean AJ has had a few more tries. and if you really want to look that means more flps too.
Roger Federer deserves to be in the list, in fact, he should be rank higher. He worked hard for it, this is the fruit of his labor.
