Torture et paillettes, ma soirée avec Brad et Angelina

Voilà Brangelina ! C’était mercredi soir, au Ziegfeld Theater à New York, l’avant-première de “A Mighty Heart”. Le film raconte, tel que l’a vécu sa femme Marianne, le kidnapping et l’assassinat de Daniel Pearl, journaliste au Wall Street Journal, au Pakistan en 2002.

C’est sur un fond portant les logos de Reporters sans Frontières que l’actrice et son producteur (Brad Pitt, cerné comme un producteur) posent pour les photographes. Elle parle du film (”très fidèle à ce qui s’est passé”) et de sa robe de velours noir (qui lui a coûté 26 dollars, achetée dans une friperie de Los Angeles).

Puis c’est Robert Ménard, le président de Reporters sans Frontières qui rappelle que trois fois plus de journalistes ont été tués en Irak que pendant la guerre du Vietnam. Il parle en français, une collaboratrice traduit, l’anglais de Robert n’est pas sans frontières. Angelina se lève pour lui serrer la main. Elle lui dira après la projection qu’admirative du travail de RSF elle est prête à faire plus pour l’aider.

Pendant ce temps là, il y a des journalistes qui s’étranglent. Avant l’arrivée d’Angelina, s’est plaint Fox News, les médias qui voulaient l’interviewer ont reçu un contrat à signer, leur demandant de ne lui poser aucune question sur sa vie privée. Toujours selon Fox, le contrat précise que les interviews ne doivent pas être utilisées dans des articles traitant d’autres sujets que la sortie du film. “On peut regretter la formalisation des échanges avec les journalistes, elle pourrait aussi dire ” je ne veux pas répondre à cette question”", nous dit Lucie Morillon, qui représente Reporters Sans Frontières aux Etats-Unis, “mais c’est un peu dommage si c’est seulement ça qu’on retient de la soirée où on a parlé de la liberté de la presse dans le monde”.

L’avant-première du film était aussi un curieux lieu de promotion pour Amnesty International. A Mighty Heart comporte une scène de torture d’un Pakistanais à laquelle assiste un agent américain (et qui permet d’obtenir des informations). Comme l’a observé une spectatrice à la fin du film, “ça fait bizarre la scène de torture des Pakistanais sous l’œil d’un Américain qui ne dit rien”.

ANGELINA Jolie proved she had A Mighty Heart when she rescued a British photographer who had a puncture in his bike tyre.

James Ambler was on two wheels, chasing the Hollywood beauty around New York when disaster struck.

He said: “The next thing I know, Angelina’s car is pulling over. The driver wound down the window and said, ‘Do you want a lift?’

“I thought he was joking - laughing at my misfortune. But then Angelina winds her window down and says, ‘Lance, why don’t you jump in the car?’ ”

Stunned, James quickly did so. He said: “Angelina told me they had nicknamed me Lance after the cycling legend Lance Armstrong because they were impressed I was able to keep up.

“She said, ‘We love having you riding alongside us. You’re always happy, always smiling. The kids enjoy watching you whizzing along on your bike.’”

The star quizzed the Londoner about his work life - trailing her for the premiere of her new movie, A Mighty Heart, about journalist Daniel Pearl who was beheaded by al-Qaeda.

She told him she didn’t understand the world interest in herself and Brad Pitt and she posed for a pic after dropping him off.

James, 27, said: “She was one of the nicest people I’ve ever met.

“I think she took a bit of a shine to me. Brad better watch out!”

Oh for the love of Gawd. The only people carrying on and on about this is Fox News and that fat F*ck Roger Friedman. His nose has been out of joint with them since 2005 and MAMS. He was equally ticked off at them in Cannes because he couldn’t get to the private afterparty for O13. He blamed Angelina for that one too. Angelina who has nothing to do the planning of Oceans 13. He didn’t once blame Clooney and Jerry Weintraub who actually made the arrangements. He’s a fangirl who wanted to rub elbows with them and he got denied.

Then, this thing happened. Geyer messed up, Paramount messed up and Brad and Angelina messed up. Instead of protecting Angie they’ve done the opposite. Okay. Mistake made, apology accepted and people have moved on except Fox News and their right wing talking heads.

Other media outlets are sooo over it because Angelina was gracious as always with everyone. Hell, Bonnie Fuller and her husband were even there. I’ll write it again BONNIE FULLER from Star Magazine was there.

Friedman is loathed in the entertainment media circles as is Fox News in large.

Even Geraldo who works for Fox News said Brad and Angelina couldn’t of been nicer to him, his wife and daughter. Even Bill O’Reilly couldn’t get any anger up about the whole thing.

Life goes on. Sheesh

Paramount Vantage, which is releasing the film, says Jolie was not aware of the language in the contract until June 14. Upon reading it, she raised objections to her lawyer, Robert Offer, who rescinded it and has since apologized.

A studio spokes-woman noted that the star has been “incredibly candid” during interviews for Esquire, Parade and Glamour and with TV’s Larry King and Jon Stewart, but faces 24/7 scrutiny from celebrity tabloids and paparazzi. Thus, the contract “is a byproduct of the kind of journalism she has to deal with.”

This is the issue. It was the tabloid media that they DIDN’t ban for attending the premier. They allowed EVERYONE access and this was drawn up because of them. Like I said Bonnie Fuller was there. What they should of done is what Brad did and not given them press credentials at all.

This is really hard me for right now, I can write all day about how Britney Spears probably leaves her kids in the care of a fish tank while she’s out partying or how I wish that dolphins land on Tara Reid’s head and lets not talk about that easy target Paris Hilton but putting into words how one of our photographers probably felt as he sat inches away from Angelina Jolie while they drove around New York City for 30 minutes? Um yeah, that’s why I carbon offset and watch Extreme Make Over: Home Edition.But hey, this isn’t about me, it’s about this luck sh*t James, who because he treated Angelina as more than just dollar sign (even we get star struck too) got to ride around New York City with one of the most beautiful women in the world.

So today, staff photographer James Ambler was cycling through the city trying to keep up with silver screen siren Angelina Jolie when he punctured one of his tires and Jolie being the humanitarian that she is, instead of leaving him in her dust after he had spent days photographing her, had her security pull over her SUV and offered the paparazzo a ride to the hotel.

Now this is usually where I would freak out due to jealousy (or because my g/f’s obsession with Jolie has caused her to barricade herself in the bathroom and has been plunging her head in a bathtub full of water screaming “Why not me?” for the past 5 hours) but after looking at the pictures and video of James and his ear to ear smile, it made me appreciate all the hard work he did over the past few days to earn Jolie’s respect.

Here’s to you James, you spent 30 minutes alone with the most sought after woman in the world but for the record, I don’t think Brad has anything to worry about.

The person making a big deal about it is that Fat F*ck Friedman. He’s print media, which includes the tabloids. The entertainment shows didn’t know anything about this because it was sent to the “PRINT” media in an effort to protect her from tabloid exploitation. Friedman put the scorpion in the bottle and asked his Fox co-workers to run with the story. They are the only one’s who have continued it.

Friedman took it personally because he has his own agenda and is sensitive because of what he wrote about them in Cannes feeling that he is being punished/blacklisted because of it.

It’s so over, people.

Wait let me get this straight. Fox’s Friedman call Julliard in France for a quote. He made it sound like Julliard was a the party. This is proof that Friendman wanted to make this story bigger than it was. Thus went searching for quotes to help his story.
