Angelina Jolie - “Newsweek” Interview
Angelina Jolie opens up to Newsweek about her experience filming A Mighty Heart in India.
On her bodyguards calling “bloody Indians” and “bloody Muslims” at a Muslim school: “People advised me that this movie was politically dangerous. I thought maybe I shouldn’t touch this. Maybe it would do more harm than good.”
On going from being the most famous star in India to its most famous racist: “We’ve become so eager to accuse people of being racist, but I would rather they make up almost any other story—about me sleeping with someone, anything—but that. It’s not only a crazy accusation, but it’s the most insulting thing you could say about me, that I would employ someone who would be disrespectful to someone’s race or would harm a child. They take care of my kids.”
On the situation having gone too far: “People can just hate back and forth, and I understand my own country’s irresponsibility with our foreign policy sometimes, but can’t we please try to be open-minded, and see that there are some of us who are trying?”
On traveling being her saving grace: “Yeah, I did have my wild times. [laughs] When I was famous for being just an actress, my life felt very shallow. You’ve done nothing of any social relevance, and yet you have all these people interviewing you. You don’t even know what you’re talking about. You’re just trying to find yourself. [pauses] Traveling really did save me. I was just … happier. It was feeling that I was doing the right things with my life.”
On having more children: “We want to have as big a family as we can. Our only restriction is making sure we have time for everybody, and we’re finding that we have the ability to do that.” (Brad Pitt adds: “Yeaaahhh, we do things in extremes. But I’ve always embraced big changes, and this feels very natural. It’s just the most fun I’ve ever had.”)
On what matters to her the most: “People can question your choices, accuse you of things, but your real work and your integrity will [win] out. All that matters is if I build a strong family, if I’m able to do my advocacy work and if my children are happy.”

It’s comforting to know that we have an Angelina Jolie trying to make a difference in the lives of forgotten children. We should asked how can we help in our small way?
On what matters to her the most: “People can question your choices, accuse you of things, but your real work and your integrity will [win] out. All that matters is if I build a strong family, if I’m able to do my advocacy work and if my children are happy.”

So how the F–K did Jen A. join, she is not even a B-list anymore.
Great interview Angie!

Just what is your proof (i.e., interview with George or Angie or Brad that states this or a solid journalistic publication) that George is leaking stuff to tabloids?
That is so beneath him. I’m surprised anyone gives any credence to that. He has defended Brad and Angie several times by saying they are a wonderful, in love couple.
An actor of his stature doesn’t need to “leak” stuff to tabloids. And if they are saying he does, then why do you believe them since they aren’t believable about anything?
Shame on you for making stuff up.
I waved to my cousin yesterday.. she didnt wave back .. realized that SHE DIDNT SEE ME!
stop being a child
Never got the big deal about clooney, I like angelina not him, whatever he thinks about her I don\’t give a ****.
Brad PREFERS his friends like George Clooney over Angie!!!

Oh, I think that Angelina would be great at comedies. The problem is that we’ve grown myopic to the variety of comedic personas women can play. We’re looking for another Meg Ryan, but she wasn’t the end-all, be-all. Look at the past; the comedic blondes ranged from Lombard to Harlow to Dunne to West to Blondell to Holliday to Monroe to Day to Sullavan. The independent woman; from R. Russell to K. Hepburn to Arden to Colbert to Loy to Hussey.
So many women, so many ages, so many voices. And given the fact that we have more freedoms and more different perspectives that need to be voiced, there’s no way that there’s no room for Angelina.
I am glad Newsweek is in a way setting the record straight against tabloid lies. No wonder AJ didn’t want to address those lies when she was on Dateline. She has a better way to do it.
Angie doesn’t hate George. they were friendly and laughing at the O13 premier in LA. STOP, STOP, no really STOP the rumor.

With any luck, we might soon have Brad Pitt kicking around town for a while. And on his own firepower, too — not just as Angelina’s plus-one.
Producers for one of his next films, “State of Play,” have been scoping out the District for potential shooting locations — and you figure they have to come here. The story? Basically the stuff of Larry Flynt’s most feverish dreams– investigative reporters trying to solve the murder of a pretty young political staffer. It’s based on a hugely popular BBC miniseries of the same name, but the setting switched from London to Washington and the suspect member of Parliament transformed into a congressman.
Earlier this month, filmmakers checked out George Washington University Hospital as a possible locale. No decisions yet made, according to school officials, who say they’ll check out the script to make sure it doesn’t represent the medical center as a hotbed of malpractice or staph infections or anything. Last weekend, director Kevin Macdonald — who made a splash last year with Forest Whitaker’s “The Last King of Scotland” — toured our very own newsroom, though we understand it was strictly for research; doubtful they’d ever actually get to film here.
But studio reps say that filming won’t begin until well into the fall and that no decisions about shooting locations have been made yet. In other words, they could still just end up filming the whole darn thing in Toronto, dressed up with D.C. street signs. If so? We’ll just have to cross our fingers for the next project on Pitt’s schedule: playing John Dean (!) in Watergate drama “Dirty Tricks” — co-starring Meryl Streep as Martha Mitchell, Gwyneth Paltrow as Mo Dean, and Annette Bening as Helen Thomas.
just wait and see…..but would it be funny when Angie and her family took 2 months vacation and spend part of the vacation at George’s house in Italy…..* wink *
obviously a ploy to get us off topic from this amazing interview.
George likes and admires Angie. Angie likes George. George has said lovely things about Angelina.
This is just a way to trash brad by saying his friend doesnt like angie. Nice try..but… no cigar.
Thanks HA, finallyyyy someone who wants to talk about Angie’s movies and not the other crazy tabloid stuff! I’m with you on Denzel and the Bone Collector too…though she Antonio Banderas in Original Sin run a close second.
I think it’s a tad too early to be talking about the Oscars here. We haven’t even seen all the other contenders yet. Angelina is a fantastic actress but there are so many factors to winning that golden statuette. Much as I hope she’ll win another one, I know there are so many actors and actresses who deserve one but have never received it. And there are some who got that award but made me wonder how it happened.
That said, I love you, Angelina! I am looking forward to watching A Mighty Heart.

Hey buttnut, I actually support JJ site unlike you. All you support and do is worship B&A, so feel free to STFU you couldnt ignore me if you tried. Your only purpose is this blog.
I cannot believe why the BAMPZS fans cannot see that George doesn’t like Angie?????
I get why you guys defend Brad and Angie…. but why you ALSO defend George Clooney??????
Here is a cool little video I found online. It is behind the scenes footage from A Mighty Heart. It is no narrated featurette or anything like that, just random shots from behind the scenes while they are filming the movie. But Angie is in it, and she looks great and is doing great work! Here\’s the link to it:

I don’t think it matters if the person play Mariane’s role be a “color” actor or not but it should be someone who is really passionate and can grasps the message Mariane wants to get across. I remember readning an artical before that Brad was interested in this movie for Jennifer A. (when they were still married). Now can you imagine JA playin this role? *deep in thought..*
Angelina Jolie’s Best Perf in Years
So said Richard Roeper on Ebert and Roeper yesterday, along with his co-host Robert Wilonsky (from HDNet). Both liked the film and gave it two thumbs up but Wilsonky said it was mainly Jolie’s performance that got him. Roeper said the “O” word.
A Mighty Heart is coming out early but the combination of the Jolie/Pitt tsunami in the print and online world will make her performance resonate by year’s end. She will likely go head to head with Cate Blanchett for Elizabeth, among others.
