Angelina Jolie opens up to Newsweek about her experience filming A Mighty Heart in India.
On her bodyguards calling “bloody Indians” and “bloody Muslims” at a Muslim school: “People advised me that this movie was politically dangerous. I thought maybe I shouldn’t touch this. Maybe it would do more harm than good.”
On going from being the most famous star in India to its most famous racist: “We’ve become so eager to accuse people of being racist, but I would rather they make up almost any other story—about me sleeping with someone, anything—but that. It’s not only a crazy accusation, but it’s the most insulting thing you could say about me, that I would employ someone who would be disrespectful to someone’s race or would harm a child. They take care of my kids.”
On the situation having gone too far: “People can just hate back and forth, and I understand my own country’s irresponsibility with our foreign policy sometimes, but can’t we please try to be open-minded, and see that there are some of us who are trying?”
On traveling being her saving grace: “Yeah, I did have my wild times. [laughs] When I was famous for being just an actress, my life felt very shallow. You’ve done nothing of any social relevance, and yet you have all these people interviewing you. You don’t even know what you’re talking about. You’re just trying to find yourself. [pauses] Traveling really did save me. I was just … happier. It was feeling that I was doing the right things with my life.”
On having more children: “We want to have as big a family as we can. Our only restriction is making sure we have time for everybody, and we’re finding that we have the ability to do that.” (Brad Pitt adds: “Yeaaahhh, we do things in extremes. But I’ve always embraced big changes, and this feels very natural. It’s just the most fun I’ve ever had.”)
On what matters to her the most: “People can question your choices, accuse you of things, but your real work and your integrity will [win] out. All that matters is if I build a strong family, if I’m able to do my advocacy work and if my children are happy.”

WASHINGTON – Hollywood actress Drew Barrymore traipsed purposefully up the Capitol steps last month in a simple black dress, red-soled black pumps and russet mane, not for a film shoot but to lobby for child-feeding programs in Africa as a goodwill ambassador for the U.N. World Food Program.
Within a week, $10 donations snowballed into $25,000, according to Jennifer Parmelee, a spokeswoman for the World Food Program.
“Almost every star has his or her cause,” said Alan J. Abramson, director of the non-profit sector and philanthropy program at the Aspen Institute, a research and advocacy organization. “Celebrities and their humanitarian work can sometimes show the way, especially overseas.”
Film star Lucy Liu appeared on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” on March 1, 2006, right after visiting earthquake victims in Pakistan on behalf of UNICEF. Traffic on the agency’s Web site, http://www.unicefusa.org , rose by 91 percent that day. “Compared to an average weekday, we received a 300 percent increase in calls and 240 percent more donations. All in all, we raised nearly $500,000,” said Marissa Buckanoff, public relations director of the U.S. Fund for UNICEF.
There is more, much more. When George Clooney appeared on Winfrey’s show in April 2006 after visiting Africa with his father, contributions to UNICEF rose 20 percent.
And when Angelina Jolie, a goodwill ambassador for the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees, sat down for a two-hour interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper on June 20 last year, donations spiked by more than a half-million dollars, Elisabeth Nolet said by telephone from UNHCR’s Geneva office.
When People magazine reported that a journal written by Jolie during a 2005 Africa tour was on the U.S. Memorial Holocaust Museum Web site, the institution’s server crashed.
“It received more hits than it could initially handle,” said Andy Hollinger, director of media relations.
Rock star Bono of U2 has gained the attention of world leaders with his pioneering cause: rooting out poverty with debt relief and trade and raising money to fight AIDS on a global scale. “More than anyone else, Jolie and Bono embody the new generation of entertainers who moved into this realm of social actions,” Prendergast said. “They are the high-profile trailblazers.”
For many actors, succeeding in Hollywood is no longer enough, and many said they are looking to move beyond the fiction of the screen to the real world.

The funny part is, it looks like they’re trying to create a NEW ‘triangle,’ this time, it’s Angelina and George fighting over Brad, instead of the usual fugly suspect. ROFLMAO!! I gotta tell you, THIS fictional triangle is a helluva lot better than the tired old one with Maniston.
They better watch out with George however, George can’t not ignore out and out lies about him, he will jump into the mix no matter what - so don’t be surprised if he says or does something to ridicule or call NE out in some capacity.

If AJ doesn’t say anything in this Fox stalker clip of her on the street, what is O’Reilly even going to have on? He’s been halfway decent to her as well lately, and he’s had her Dad on saying nice things - not that that is any reason to turn over a new leaf towards him, but I did give him credit for not being as insane as usual, and I have to admit I was surprised at his not only not bashing her, but giving the ol’ ‘wtf?!’ to Freidman. Perhaps Geraldo has told him not to go there, since he likes Angie too.

About Rosie…people need to calm down, she was just doing some stand-up. It was a funny crack. I like Rosie as she was one of the few peeps who on a nationally televised morning talk show, always had Angie’s back, when Elizab*tch and co. tried to cut her down, and whip up the mini-vans. I loved her outspokenness, the political and geo-political dialogue she otherwise brought to The View, that you KNOW wouldn’t be taking place otherwise. She is fine in my book. Rock on Rosie, I hope you get the Price is Right gig, and a talk show babe. I’d like to see someone of her stature, get even more powerful in television - bigger than she was. It’s always good when powerful people have your back. Maniston has her Oprah bosom to cry in, and hide behind. Angie will take the studios, directors and other actors worth their salt — but a big powerful TV personality would be great too. I’m looking forward to Rosie’s return.

I saw that picture of Brad, Angie, and George that was mentioned, and all I read from her expression was pure pride about her man Brad. Angie was indeed beaming at George, but her face seemed to be saying, “Ain’t he (Brad)great?” to George. She looked so proud of Brad.
Oh, I must say… I love this interview! Def a keeper to be re-read again. I think it’s better than the Enquirer one because the Enq did get some facts incorrect, such as X being up for MP, etc… I’m going to print it up and tuck in my copy of the Enquirer for future reference. ;)!

PS. Strangest thing - have you seen Playing By Heart? Filmed about 10 years ago, circa 1997, starring Sean Connery, Gillian Anderson, a very young and skinny Jon Stewart (Jon and Gillian kissing tripped me out!), and none other than Ryan Phillippe with Angelina Jolie as his love interest.
Came home late Saturday night and couldn’t sleep, turned on the telly, caught the last 20 minutes. Happened to be this super cheese scene in a car when Angie’s character tells Ryan’s character she loves him and lives for him and cries about it and he loves her back but can’t “handle” the intensity and bolts from the car but later on shows up at her house and they talk about their love and their souls and then finally they make out.
Back then, Ryan was still cute. Like Cruel Intentions cute. And Angelina, then around 22, still had a chubby youthful face, sexy as all hell. What killed me though was they were surprisingly, shockingly…HOT together. Even through the bad acting and the nauseating dialogue.
Cut to present day: he’s still a punk, she’s all woman. Funny what happens and doesn’t happen in ten long years.

We’ll just have to cross our fingers for the next project on Pitt’s schedule: playing John Dean (!) in Watergate drama “Dirty Tricks” — co-starring Meryl Streep as Martha Mitchell, Gwyneth Paltrow as Mo Dean, and Annette Bening as Helen Thomas.

Brad and John Dean and GP as Mo Dean? Does this mean they will be playing husband and wife? hahaha!! OMG, just goes to show you that Brad has indeed put all his GP baggage behind him if he is willing to play that part. His feelings for GP are dead and buried, and he has moved on into a fulfilled life with Angie. I can’t fathom another woman ever turning Brad’s head again.
Can you imagine the tabloid fodder on this one, though? hee hee!! But hey, if it knocks X out of the tabloid picture, then I’m all for it. GP seems to have grown a spine and owned up to her responsibilities, unlike curtain hair girl, and I can’t see GP allowing any rumors to grow before squelching them. Angie has nothing to worry about… not that she’s the type who would, anyway.

Her mother had women’s cancer that she died from and I’m a gynaecologic cancer survivor and our organisation is dedicated to ensure that all women’s cancers get diagnosed in stage one, when they’re most curable because early detection equals survival. “So we’re gonna figure something out. We’re gonna do a PSA together.”

I read this drivel over the weekend. This is their hilarious “Ex-Nanny Tells All” story. On the cover they proclaim the nanny spills on Brad & Angelina’s “knock down fights”…only…they never quite fit that into the story. This bit here refers to Angie not liking Porgie and that because he’s a heartless b@stard with woman and always has floozies around him that Brad is going to be tempted to stray. I mean, comen, NE…Brad is fcuking Angelina Jolie. Who the hell is he going to find more desireable? Rita Hayworth, Ava Gardner and Marilyn Monroe are all dead. Liz Taylor or Sophia Loren in their youth…maybe…but…they ain’t currently in their youth, therefore…Brad ain’t straying and your story is totally ridiculous.
